A sassy detective struggles to maintain her integrity in a multi-species world but finds herself choosing sides in a vampire-shifter war instigated by a human politician.
CALLIE is a sassy detective, known for her attitude and her ability to endanger her partners. While investigating a senator, she stumbles upon suck-bloods (her word) and a canister, embroiling herself in a diabolical plot older than her grandfather. Trying to stop her dying sister from an unlikely conversion, she falls for an ancient suck-blood and discovers that she’s more than human.
GABRIEL is centuries old but has withdrawn from society, preferring to spend his years avoiding vamp politics and reading ancient Greek texts. Asked to rescue Callie as a favor, he doesn’t expect her to tempt him with her scent, her delicious blood and her honor. When another vampire abducts her, Gabe must use his allies and their skills to find her before she suffers through a conversion dooming her to an eternity of enslavement.
The passion between them is potent, their love empowering as Callie learns that controlling everything won’t bring her happiness. Gabe discovers that to truly live he must lose his heart. What follows is the merging of vampire and human, of lust and love, of honor and forgiveness whilst preventing the suck-bloods and beasts from fighting a war they didn’t start.
Sevannah Storm was born and raised in Africa and is a slave to her internal muse named Reginald. She writes action-packed romances with happily-ever-after and is a firm believer in relatable characters who are strong, capable yet bowled over by love. Her life is filled with laughter and sarcasm which comes through in her writing.

Enthralling. That’s the word I would use to describe The Huntress. I loved it. Callie, the main character, is strong and sassy, but she also has her weaknesses and insecurities. Her romantic interest (avoiding spoilers here) is equally strong and the romance between them is intense. This adult novel is stunning. Sevannah Storm draws you in, ensnaring you with dynamic characters, a thrilling plot and that incredible romance. The world building is powerful and convincing. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
The Huntress is the first book in The Blood of Legends series. It follows the story of the main character Callie, a sassy detective, known for her attitude and her ability to endanger her partners. At first glance this book is just one of many in the paranormal genre. But after I read it I was deeply impressed with the author’s skill at weaving an enthralling tale. The author, Sevannah Storm successfully draws you in into Callie’s world with the first sentence. She grabs your intention with the beautiful descriptions and the very well developed characters that feel almost real and relatable. I’ve read a lot of paranormal romances through the years and I’ve come to the conclusion that all books in that genre have one thing in common. The main characters meet, fall in love, something happens, they argue and split, then something happens again and they end up together. This book was something refreshing and it kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it. It is definitely worth reading. I give this book 5/5 and strongly recommend it to all who love reading paranormal romance. And even if you don’t, this is a great book to pick up if you want to try out the genre. You will love it.
It's been a while since I read a paranormal romance, and The Huntress was a welcome return. This debut book by Sevannah Storm was a great start to what I am sure will be a wonderful series. There was lots of action, Romance, steam, and intrigue. If you enjoy that combination, I recommend this story!
This new series sets the stage with the world-building the reader will count on in the books to come. There is a slight twist on the usual vampire skills we read about, and it adds a nice variety and possibility to the story line. Callie is a strong, sassy detective who is unafraid to stand up for herself.
Callie is investigating a senator, finds herself involved with suck-bloods (vampires) and a canister which is somehow part of a diabolical plot. Gabriel is an ancient vampire who prefers to avoid politics. When asked to rescue Callie, he is blindsided by her delightful scent. When she gets kidnapped, he is compelled to track her down before the unthinkable happens and she becomes something she doesn’t want to be… eternally enslaved!
This book as a good story line that will keep the reader intrigued. With this being the beginning of the series, grab your copy and catch up on the characters and their abilities as we head into the next book!
From the very first page, I could tell The Huntress was going to be unlike anything I had read before. The author has a completely unique style that is incredibly satisfying. The story is fast-paced, action-packed, and breathtakingly addictive to read through. If you are looking for a story with takes new, original takes on older, familiar themes, then The Huntress is the story for you. The result is a consistent string of surprises and unexpected turns; there is an ever-present sense that you know what is going to happen next, only to be proven wrong time and time again. If you are looking for something fresh that will get your heart racing (for multiple reasons), then I highly advise you to pick up a copy of The Huntress.
‘The Huntress: The Blood of Legends’ by Sevannah Storm offered thrilling character development on classic fantastical creatures in a paranormal world. It was deeply enjoyable following Callie, the main character, as she balances both the tropes of a strong and witty female detective but also reveals deep insecurity and relatable human flaw in her fight for control in her life (which has definitely lost control!). In this sense, Storm is able to capture very human experiences and emotions, like struggling to develop a sense of control or defending one’s loyalty to family or convictions, through her twist to a vampire story. The dialogue and intensity between Callie and Gabe was truly captivating, and I really got lost in the read! I HIGHLY recommend!
The story follows a detective into a world of multiple dimensional beings. I loved Callie’s character throughout the book. Her taste in sarcasm and sense of humour just got to me.
It’s well written, well plotted and has all the elements of a great story. I love the take on Vampires. I’ve grown up following vampires and I guess I’ll never be tired of finding them in good stories.
I’m going to slide past any spoilers because you’ve just got to read the book. Thank you Sevannah for the ARC. I loved it! Can’t wait for the next instalment. Who doesn’t love mystery with some badass characters.
Callie is worried about her sister who is sick from cancer and is working as a detective on the police force when her sister decides she’s going to compete to be changed into a vampire right in the middle of an investigation that ends up as an issue between the shifters and the vampires.
I was very surprised with Callie’s love interest, I was not expecting her to choose the one she did. I loved how Gabriel was a tad antisocial and I kind of got Myrnin from The Morganville Vampires vibes from him. There always seem to be a new twist to keep me surprised with each chapter!
The Huntress is about a sassy detective named Callista who has to navigate a world with multiple creatures in a paranormal world.
This is the first book in a series and I can't wait to pick up book number 2. It is beautifully written and the character development is perfection. I enjoyed every aspect of this book and really wish I could read it for the first time again. I also cannot believe this is a debut novel because everything about it is so good. It is so well written and keeps you hooked until the very end. Highly recommend for your next read!
Very interesting story. Callie is a force to be reckoned with. She’s got all kinds of emotions flowing through her as she is trying to figure out who/what she truly is and wants to be. Especially after she meets the vampire that calls to her very core. This story has plenty of vampires and shifters to keep it going and keep me intrigued. It’s definitely not a slow-burn romance, it’s more like a locomotive going full speed with no breaks romance! There is definitely more to the story with several characters and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
I loved the strong female main character Callie and the wittiness of her relationships with Gabe and Mike. This story has a ACOTAR feel to it but is not as spicy. I thoroughly enjoyed the story as Callie converts into a suck-blood. She's a quick learner and a force to be reckoned with. I do hope Rhys learns his place.

Amazing book to read. Couldn't put it down. Five star book. Highly recommend it. I do plan on rereading it. The cover fits to what the book is about. The blurb is what caught my eye to read this book.
In a world where vampires and shifters co-exist – in a fashion – next to humans, it would take something pretty spectacular to bring all of them together. Say… a mysterious canister and the blood of someone that changes with what she eats maybe? Yep, that should do it.
Callie has always listened to her instincts and they have kept her alive and pretty much unharmed. Gabe is the older brother, the stronger brother, and yet it is Syl who rules. None of that bothers Gabe but once Callie is on the scene, he will do anything to protect her – even if it means taking his brother’s throne.
I really enjoyed this first book in the series. It leads you to a new world where the rules have changed. I enjoyed getting to know Callie and found her to be a strong, upfront, and sassy heroine. However, I also found parts of the story with her to be slightly confusing as her mindset isn’t always the most stable.
There is an overall story arc that I’m sure will be covered more in future books. For now, though, this story was enough to give you a fulfilling read whilst still leaving you wanting more. The only downsides for me were the confusion already mentioned and the epilogue. I won’t say too much as I don’t want to ruin it for others but, suffice it to say, part of the epilogue was perfect. And the other part was just meh. I’ve seen that storyline before, just thrown it in at the end, and it never seems to come out as it should.
Overall, this was a great read with a wonderful cast of characters, smooth pacing, and a world I wish to return to. Definitely recommended by me.
This is an incredibly inventive take on paranormal romance where hopeful humans can "win" immortality (or become a snack). And speaking of snack, the male MC is DELICIOUS! In a world of war between shifters, suckbloods, and sometimes humans, the love at the center of this story is what makes everything worth fighting for.
A sassy detective in an multi-species world, gets into more trouble than she cares to admit. When a handsome vampire admits to loving her scent ( and really loving it, if you get my meaning ), she's not sure if she should give into it. Said vampire has been living in seclusion by his own design and never expected to meet someone that could make him lose control. This story is great as the female lead is strong. It has a compelling plot that leaves you wanting more. There's a potential for a long series here and I believe the author is writing the next book!! The heat level is steamy and left me wet! I definitely recommend it.
4.5 stars :) First vampire book I’ve enjoyed in a long time. Callie and Gabe were interesting, well-rounded characters (Callie’s sass and sense of humour reminded me of a more likeable version of Anita Blake) and the plot was fast-paced and exciting. The vampires had a heck of a lot of super powers, some of which had me raising my brows at times, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the story. I loved the supporting characters, especially little George. I’m hoping Syl gets his own story at some point, I assume Leo & Val will as well. Looking forward to more books in this series.
With a sassy detective, treachery that runs deep in political and ancient rivalries, and a high-heat love affair with one of the most powerful immortals, this book delivers a story packed with intrigue. It also has a charming thread of found family and saved family, which adds some heartwarming elements to the entertainment factor. A fun twist on vampire romance.
Sarcasm, humor, action, love, and a unique story on vamps and other creatures in the paranormal world.
Well-rounded characters, and a great description of this world that Callie finds herself inhabiting. A kick-ass police detective trying to save her sister from being converted to a vamp before cancer takes her life. While trying to save Val, Callie ends up being saved by Gabe. Love at first sight. Those pheromones get you every time.
Callie is headstrong and thinks she can handle everything. When she enters this world, she finds out the hard way that she is not equipped to protect herself and has to rely on others to keep her alive.
George. What can I say? This lovable little rat helps to save Callie, who is a shifter. A little girl tossed out to be on her own as she is not like the other members of her family.
Long-standing feuds are normal in the vamp world but combined with humans bent on trying to eradicate them spells trouble for everyone involved. Especially Callie who has unique blood. Everyone wants to drink this nectar coursing through her veins.
I wanted to keep reading this story set in a wonderful world. I want the next book to read.
This book brought together a lot of unique and interesting story bits to create a plot of corruption, intrigue, revenge, and violence. It also contained a subplot of sisterly love that moved the story forward. Callie may not have met Gabe and started her undead life had she not been trying to save her sister from herself. The vampire politics and looming war with the shifters made a great backdrop for which to introduce an entertaining team of vamps and shifters. Callie's conversion, training and test enabled her to grow as a vamp and a woman in love. Of course, our main couple got a good HEA. However, the story also introduced a slew of characters who could have their own story - both vamps and shifters alike. The author took it a step further and decided to teach an old dog new tricks so it would be really interesting to see him in another story to see how well he adjusts to the changes. Overall, this was a good story with a lot of potential for future books and a lot of characters who deserve their own stories. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book. I got a free book by this author on book funnel and I liked it so much I bought this one as soon as I finished it. This book has all the fun stuff and Calli is so kick butt. I just love her character. I read this straight through. So happy I got it. What am i gonna do now? Why I'm gonna get another Sevannah Storm book!!!
I'm not into romance novels but some inclusion in this one was necessary to clarify the storyline. Some interesting twists and different takes on the lives of vampires, shifters, and humans enabled to live without too much conflict. An enjoyable read and I would certainly read more in this series.
