The story of this book is about that one fat and ugly man, Aldon who is on a mission for the security of a top secret military project. But Captain Ashley Odessa Cumberge has stolen this project and going up against the institution he once served.
Grab the book and follow the Captain as he seeks out a crew to join him abroad his ship, the Edwina on a mission that will take them across the galaxy in hopes that against all odds a soldier, a pilot, a mechanic and a dog can change the course of history.
The cover of the book is aptly designed and very attractive. The title of the book could have been better.
The plot of the story is interesting,engaging and adventurous. It is a perfect blend of science, fiction, thrill, adventure and action with so much fun and excitement. The author has written the adventure part so perfectly that one can easily forget this world for sometimes and get lost in a different world.
The book is divided into 64 chapters which is very helpful for the readers.
Language used is easily understandable.
Characters are well developed and described by the author. Even the dog's character is very appealing.
The flow of the book is fast paced which makes it a page turner.
Overall, an enjoyable read.
Can't wait for the next part.

The Map: Book One of the Edwina Chronicles by David Charles is a Sci-fi book. The story starts with fat, ugly guy Aldon who only loves to stuff food in his stomach. His father was a high ranking officer in the Gaean Colonial Military and Aldon is the youngest of 5 sons. His four brothers had been the war heroes and similar expectations his father had from Aldon.
Aldon wasn't good at the military service so he was sent to a strange planet Secretum. He was assigned the task to protect a top-secret project. When Aldon was in his office, a star ship landed outside his office. From star ship Captain Ashley Odessa Cumberge came to Aldon's office and stole the top-secret project. It is the debut novel of the author David Charles. The plot of the story is super interesting. Language of the book is easy to understand. I really liked the characters and enjoyed the story also.

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
I love reading Science fictions so I picked the book 'The Map' written by David Charles. It is the first book in the Edwina Chronicles Series. Captain Ashley Odessa Cumberge stolen the top-secret project along with his dog Nugget by visiting Secretum planet.
Cumberge was the best asset during the war. He has won every war but during the final year of his campaign when he was stationed on the planet Priam Prime, he received suicidal orders and therefore betrayed the direct orders of the High Command. Since Cumberge alone has won the last battle, so he wasn't supposed to be punished for commiting treason.
The story was fast paced so I didn't felt bored anytime while reading it. I really liked Nugget, the dog of Cumberge. It was an adventurous read for me. The world building is amazing and interesting. Storyline is gripping and I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Well-written, rollicking sci-fi adventure. Science fiction isn't my normal genre but I really enjoyed this! More Nugget!

Captain Cumberge stole the top-secret project when he was stationed on Priam Prime, a planet occupied by the enemies of Colonial Military. Captain Ashley Odessa Cumberge or Ash have been in a war from thirteen long years and have won every time. There are already celebrations and parades going on in their honour. But they have to fight one last battle. What will happen in it?

2) Narration style of the author is smooth.
3) Plot is intriguing.
4) Characters are well developed. Cumberge's character is penned down very well.
If you love to read about star ships, aliens, fictional planets and the wars on them then go ahead with this book.
