Set out in two books this fictional novel follows friends Martin and Harry’s separate stories as they meet up after years of being apart. They are British Army veterans having previously served their country in the first Gulf War in the early 1990's. The first book; Reconciliation - Careless Whispers - deals mainly with Harry's life with the London Underworld after leaving the Army. This second book; Reconciliation - Nearing The End - deals initially with Martin's life, again after leaving the Army, and then when Martin meets up with Harry. They find that after years of being apart they are both still heavily traumatised after the catastrophic event that happened to them and their squad in Saudi Arabia. Demobbed out of the Army, they go their own separate ways, Martin to a family life that to him is both new and exciting, and Harry into a life of sleazy crime with one of the notorious London underworld family's. Both are unknowingly carrying the time-bomb of the after affects of their horrific experience. Martin attempts to come to terms with his demons on his own with predictable results while Harry unconsciously believes that inflicting violence will blank out his past. Both are terribly wrong.
