An unstoppable alien warrior. A stubborn human. A desperate escape.
Varga’s life has been as hard as the armor which covers his skin, but he has never let it stop him. He has powered his way through every obstacle - until a favor for a friend sends him straight into the path of a stubborn, beautiful female, and everything changes.
After finally freeing herself from her domineering ex-husband, Joan is ready to start a new life on her own terms. Instead, she is kidnapped by aliens and sold into servitude on a mining planet at the far end of the galaxy.
When a terrifyingly attractive alien appears with promises to rescue her, she isn’t foolish enough to refuse. But the massive, scarred warrior wants more than her freedom - he wants her heart.
As Varga and Joan lead a ragtag group on a dangerous journey to freedom, can they also escape the ties of the past and find a new future - together?
Knowing that Varga (he's Baralt's bestie from the last book) would be out there looking for other human female slaves, I was curious to find out exactly what type of woman would appeal to him. And I actually really liked Joan, aside from the many times she brought up her ex Kevin (like please, can we stop already?). She was sweet and bright and just tried to make the best of a rotten situation. She was compassionate and cunning and I loved how smoothly she meshed with Varga. So yeah, I definitely liked this match. The naked and dirty slave they rescued (along with everyone else) intrigued me. Her name was Polly and I wonder if she'll feature again somewhere. I'd love to see her as normal as her trauma could make her and for her to find as much happiness as she deserves. Actually I want to see it for all of them, especially since Joan got such a happy ending with Varga.
A return to the slightly darker side of alien sci-fi rom, there’s more abuse of the female characters but these stories still lean towards safe, sane, and consensual, so I enjoyed it. And the ending is leaving a big open door to more adventures in this ‘verse. I’d read the next once.
20 percent. Not going on with this. No explanation of why she can understand all the aliens but that’s minor compared to the falling in bed with the human seeming alien (but he’s blue! That makes him alien!) on basically first sight because he’s just so studly and handsome and her lady bits are tingling. We don’t need no stinking world building or character development. Continuing my quest for decent sci fi romance elsewhere I guess.
When Varga set out (at the end of the last book) to track down humans who have been enslaved, OF COURSE you knew he'd end up with his HEA. I mean, he might be big and brawny and downright terrifying sometimes, but he has that mile-wide noble streak that won't let him walk away when things go bad.
Frankly, Joan's not in a terrible position (which isn't saying much since she's a slave in a precarious position on an awful mining world where only her ability to cook has kept her out of the depths) when Varga saunters in. As much as she might dream of a different life, she tries to be realistic. She might have a not-so-great job, but it's better than the alternative. Varga makes her hope there might be more for her and, well, THINGS HAPPEN.
Sexy things. Also things that involve Varga adjusting his rescue plan to account for a few non-human slaves that need his help.
I've enjoyed this series since the first book and I'm all in for whatever the future brings. More humans need to be rescued and find their HEA? YOU BET I'LL BE READING!
A great addition to the series. All of the books in the series have been so much fun to read. Joan just escaped from an ex only to be abducted by aliens. You would think that is the worst but she was then sold into slavery. The character of Joan if smart and able to adapt. She won’t be broken and has such a caring heart. She is the type to give up her own life if it meant to save another. Then there is Varga. A huge male but extremely attractive one. His sole goal is to find the human women who have been abducted and save them. They can’t go back to earth but he will always make sure they go somewhere they want to go. The two of them will have to fight and possibly kill for freedom. The romance at times is very sweet and hot. Definitely suggest this book and series to any paranormal romance reader.
This book had a really different feel than the earlier books. The hero is trying to rescue the human slave and goes undercover.
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Then they end up rescuing some other slaves. At one point the hero tells her all of these people aren't going to fit on my ship.
So a lot of the book is them trying to escape the mines after a cave in.
Then Polly a human slave, is having post traumatic stress disorder. So she frequently cries, screams, hides in corners, refuses to bathe and walks around naked and dirty.
So Njkall (the leader of the caves from Izzie's book and who helped the doctor escape the secret lab) decides that Polly is his mate. Polly was never raped by his alien race so she is actually comfortable around him. He eventually helps her bathe (after Polly asks him to help her). The others are worried he is taking advantage of her but he says nothing will happen unless she is ever ready. So Polly goes off to live in the caves with Njkall. But no romance there yet.
𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒: Varga is wonderful! I really loved his character and he's an amazing hero. I'm actually unsure what type of species he is, I can't recall reading it in the book and couldn't find it when I went back to check. But he's from the planet Sorvid so that's what I put! This had lots of drama and more space adventure that this series is known for. It touched on some of the dark aspects around the slave trade for sure, but it was positive and lovely and I enjoyed it! A sweet romance between the two MCs and as always, a good amount of steam! Easy read. Fun, cute, humorous, and sweet.
I was glad to read Varga's story. He had been a gladiator for hire from the book. Varga was on a mission to find and save a human female who was in the same slavery ship as Izzie. Yes, he saved everyone. But George killed slavers in the best way, slow and painful. Little Georgie is totally my hero! Hope she's in books to follow! 💕
I was hoping for better world 🌎 building. Hitting a wall after imagining a world with caves and mines, was like going from color tv 📺 to black and white. Didn't take away from the story. What did, was the spanking. Joan reminded me of a childhood friend in High School. She would get in people's businesses without taking into consideration their feelings or needs. She meant well. A story that dwells in the subject of rape and abuse, did well making one sympathetic towards the characters. I felt bad about Joan's marriage and slavery as a cook and punching bag. Until the spanking part. That ruined the overall story. I learned in my job that there are women who would protect their abusive significant other. Made me think less of Joan, and disappointed Varga didn't think of her past. It became just another sex story in space. I understood Polly's reluctance to bath. At this point I just didn't like Joan. It took me a while to stop being myself and accept her. After all, we're all humans. 😉 Sorry for being picky; liked the books.
The story overall is good. There were many funny moments, as well as deep hearted ❤ ones. The story ended with hopes for more to come. Hopefully with fiercely George💕 in it. ☺
I mean.... as long as you can just... turn off your brain a bit more than usual for this series, this book is okay? The action scenes and the whole "save all the slaves" thing was fun to read, but the sex scenes were mostly unsexy (what is it with divorcees and their lack of "art of seduction" as though that is something you have to practice to be good at, omg, and let's not forget the almost-but-not-because-Joan-adapts-quickly dubcon nature of it all), and after the action was over I noped out of the book asap because Joan has a stick up her arse and makes lovely judgments on people who don't react to the situation the way she supposedly would have. There's a lot of people-fixing and some "misunderstandings" between mates and matchmaking that everyone really could have gone without.
I'm happy for Varga but that's about it. Also who even is called Joan or Polly anymore... lol. There are tons of J names that would have worked great - Jen, Jess, June... But no! Gotta really rub that divorcee status in. Thank goodness she wasn't greying, and her sagging body parts weren't mentioned, so there's that at least. Btw, I'm greying and have been since I was 22, but I most DEFINITELY will not be thinking of it during sex!
Fighter Varga has hard armour which can cover his skin and has not had an easy life. Having powered his way through every obstacle he has met, he sets off to do a favour for a friend which puts a stubborn female in his path. Human Joan had finally freed herself from a domineering husband only to be kidnapped by aliens from Earth and sold into servitude on a mining planet. When a very attractive alien arrives with promises to rescue her he is not so foolish to refuse but he wants more than just her freedom - he also wants her heart too. As Varga, Joan and a group of others go on a journey to their freedom, can they both escape the ties of their past and find a new future together?
I enjoyed this story. Joan was definitely a one-off and her ability to collect waifs and strays who were also prisoners through her ability to relate to them and form a connection was both a great thing and a very annoying thing for them all. Thankfully Vargas was willing to tolerate and allow her these things which were great. Full of danger and drama, it was a good read and has set up the next book nicely. Easy to read. Contains explicit sexual content.
I really loved this one! Joan is a stand alone, but could really be put in a box set with Hanna & the Hitman and Izzie and the Icebeast. But anyway, this was a sweet story. Vargas is on a mission to save the human females that were sold into slavery. Joan is a cook (slave) to Ukhaan and you will really dislike this alien male. Vargas is a formidable guy and a bit bossy, but he’s SO sweet to Joan. I loved that! Along the way, we meet a team of characters from the mine. There was a lot going on with all of the different characters in the mine bunch. And that kept things stirred up and very interesting. Joan has an alien iguana-lizard kind of pet thing named George. I LOVED George! George does some cool stuff, so you will have to read it to find out what! Joan & the Juggernaut is very steamy. In fact I was having some wine during chapters 1-12 or so and nicknamed Chapter 6 "Bow Chicka Wow Wow."
Joan and the Juggernaut was fabulous! It had the perfect mix of action, awesome characters, and steamy bits. I beta read this one and I highly recommend it! 4.5 Stars!
Varga was a gladiator we met in the last book his body can garden like armor and his fighting skills are superior to none. He promised to find other human women and rescue them form a life of slavery. He finds information that guides him to a hell hole of a mining planet where he finds Joan. Joan is somewhere over thirty and had just escaped from a horrible marriage when she was abducted by Aliens and sold into slavery. She's an amazing cook and that has so far saved her from becoming a sex space but how long will that last. She's smart she knows how to avoid attention until Varga comes to the mining planet and decides he wants her as a gift for the night. she can't believe this rock hard alien wants her ,but what she doesn't is not only does he want her but he wants to rescue her and free her from slavery. This is an action packed passionate romance of two beings that find love in this most unlikely of places that heals old wounds and creates a brighter future for two people who deserve it. Highly recommend 💖💖💖💖
I was so happy to see Varga, the fighter from Izzie and the Icebeast, get his own book and HEA! Varga is on a mission to find another human female abducted by the Derians, and he follows info about her to the mining world of Drahana. Varga is so much more than just a fighter! Just like all the lead males in this series, he is honorable and has a strong personal code of ethics. Joan is a woman trying to survive and take care of those around her. I loved how Varga wins her over and is unable to deny her anything, including rescuing a few more slaves than he expected! The cute-but-deadly lizard, George, is another fun character! It was great to revisit Hothrest and the characters I came to love in Izzie’s book. I love that no matter the book, the dark spots are never too dark or too protracted, and the characters always triumph over their pasts. This series is interesting and keeps me engaged, while making me smile, laugh, and cry just a little bit for some of the characters.
Joan and Varga are awesome! There is nothing simple about performing a rescue on the mining planet Drahana! Especially when your tender-hearted mate wants to save nearly everyone. Where Joan is concerned, Varga the Juggernaut is a bit of a marshmallow! It seems as if they are hit with one life endangering challenge after another. Working as a team, they can take on almost anything. Varga and Joan lead their rag-tag crew onward. I love seeing Varga and Joan grow closer, falling for each other. “Their love had been forged in a fiery cauldron.” This is a fast-paced read, satisfying on many levels, as women find their inner strength, freedom, and in some cases, mates. The males are super protective, watching out for the females, and watching each other’s backs. I do so love a hero! Read and enjoy!
This was a solid 3.5 - 4 stars for me. I have read previous books in this series and loved them. I WANTED to love this one because we briefly meet Varga in a previous book and he caught my attention. There were just some scenes that didn't seem to fit, especially the love scenes. I won't get into detail and give spoilers but certain scenes I felt like, really? Right now? Just couldn't get into the flow. Having said all that, the story IS completely worth reading from an action standpoint and very interesting secondary characters. This author really does a fantastic job of making all her characters interesting and I want to know more! I could take a whole book on Polly and Saka to see what happens to those two.

This book is an awesome read !!! We get to read about Bartlet's Gladiator friend , Varga . Varga was tasked with finding more human female slaves. And Varga is very good at what he does. When he tracks a female to a very hot mining planet, he comes across Joan . Joan is actually a cook, but a slave none the less. As circumstances present themselves , both Joan and Varga find themselves in extremely challenging situations that effect not just themselves. A marvelous addition to this spectacular series !!! I have read them all and this is a favorite !!! What I most enjoy is that the females in this series are in horrible, horrific situations, but they dig deep for strengths that they didn't even know that they had !! And leaves me with a smile !!
*WARNING* contains adult situations Varga was many things, but now he is restless. Varga knows his good friend's mate was kidnapped and used as a slave, so he has decided to look for more that has fallen into the same fate. Now that Varga has a new project, he needs to find a destination. Joan is a recently divorced woman who just wanted to go for a jog! When Joan woke up, her life was no longer her own. I remember the Varga character in a previous book and liked him very much! He reminds of The Thing from Fantastic Four. Anyway, this whole series is great. The characters are loyal, protective, and loving. The best addition here was George (in my opinion). This has action, romance, a nice little plot twist at the end, and those dreaded baddies that we love to hate. I'm always looking forward to the next book in this series!
This was just, well, it just made me happy to read? You know? Sometimes you just need the pick me up from an author who has never let you down, they always take to you on an adventure. Honey Phillips does this, we get alien worlds with a bit of the familiar thrown into the mix. Not too dark but enough plot and emotions to keep me involved. Joan and Varga were great together, she kinda hit the alien hottie jackpot, just saying. But yet again I'm left with questions and hoping for a new book, the secondary characters are always so well, fleshed out? Sounds weird huh? Lol, just know I would gladly take more stories.
Joan and the Juggernaut Alien Abduction Book 10 By Honey Phillips Kindle unlimited purchase Joan has had it rough, not as rough has the other slaves. Trying to figure out what to do with herself after her divorce she is abducted by aliens. Varga is on a mission. Save the human females that have been taken from Earth. When he gets word that a human female is being held on the mining planet he knew he had to rescue her. This is book 10 in this series. I would recommend ready the series in order. Each book has a different H and h but there is character cross over. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Joan has been snatched from Earth and sold to a mining operation. She is "lucky" in that she is an excellent cook, so instead of being brutally used like the other women, she is treated fairly well. She knows, though, that her cruel master could turn on her on a whim, so she plans and plots to escape. She is horrified when her master has a visitor and hands her off to him for an evening's entertainment. She knows she is going to be raped, but to her surprise, Varga is on a mission to find slaves and free them.
Honey Phillip's alphabet series has been one of my favorites ever since I got my hands on Anna's book. Read this series. Read it now!
Terrific story about an alien going undercover to save a human
Varga, a warrior, Infiltrated a mining camp to find human slaves from earth. He found Joan, a divorcee, cook, and waiting for chance to escape. One thing, they keep collecting other slaves too free from the mining planet.
Joan falls for the alien, but is this a second chance she is looking for.
The characters are unique, feisty, stubborn. This fast-paced action drama packed with adventure that keeps you reading until the very end. I like the alien abduction written by the author because they have a general theme of books that is entertaining and enjoyable.
Couldn't put it down. Varga and Joan's journey was well written and exciting. Insta love on Varga's part but it didn't take Joan long to figure it out. You were able to connect with past characters and meet new ones, that we will hopefully see again. While there are only 12 books out to date, I look forward to getting through the whole alphabet as long as the author continues to write them as well as the last 10. This book seemed a bit shorter than the others, or maybe I was more engaged with this one. While I am reading this series via Kindle Unlimited, I continue to believe it well worth your time and $$
The premise of the story is that Joan was abducted from Earth to be a slave. She has been beaten but not much more has been done to her but there are other female slaves. Just in case this sort of thing is a trigger for a reader, the violence is implied rather than written. As for Varga, he goes to rescue the human woman he was told was on the mining planet and finds a mate (along with a ragtag group in need of rescue). Once again, Honey Phillips has created a 5 star story!

This is a very well written fated mates alien romance book. It has a happy ever after ending and the book is witty with some explosive chemistry between some of the characters. Joan is stuck cooking for an awful alien after she was abducted from her home on earth. Varga has been send by izzie to rescue the females that were on the ship with her. As soon as he sees Jo an he know she’s something special. He’s more determined than ever to rescue her

When Baralt and Varga found that the Derians had sold other human females, Varga decided that he would go find these females and rescue them. He found that there was a human on the mining planet of Drahana. Joan is the cook for Overseer Ukhann. He is not interested in her as a sex slave and she is happy about that. When Varga made it there he found that she was close at hand. When he looked into her eyes he knew she was his. Plenty of action and lots of laughs. Guaranteed HEA!!!

Joan's life is like riding a rollercoaster. Bad marriage, divorce, kidnapped by slaver aliens, dumped on a rock mine, punished by her owner, and constantly living in fear of being demoted from cook to sex slave. Then freedom beckons in the shape of huge alien who looks at Joan like she's good enough to eat. Can she trust him to free her, or will their encounter be just another horrible event in her life? This story has it all. Hunky alien, cute pet lizard, mini cliffhangers, and hot kisses.... Enjoy!
I think Joan and Varga could have brought the most droll plot to life, but luckily for them, theirs was as equally wonderful as they were. I loved that this book touched on serious subjects yet maintained a happy, positive air and provided plenty of amusing situations as well. And George! What a darling. Actually, all of the secondary characters were terrific, and even the ones we hated were well written too. The steam was yummy as well, so all in all this book easily earned all 5 stars and then some.
I received a free copy of Joan and the Juggernaut, but that did not affect my review.
