Well, this was a pleasant surprise.

Occasionally, I get on Amazon and look up the most recent M/F Omegaverse publications. Doing so is often...entertaining. Frankly, there's so much trash. You'll come across uncreative pen names, terrible covers, and when I read a sample often the writing is poor. Often the books will be a serial, book 1 to a start of a serial series. The author does not reveal when the next book is out, it's unfinished despite being only 70 pages long and less than half a story (I swear it's like writers are just publishing their unfinished WIPs on Amazon for some quick cash in KU).

So, when I noticed this on Amazon I was immediately impressed because of how the book was advertised: Standalone dark novella, complete with a HEA. Now, I'm open to Omegaverse serials if they're using the rapid release strategy, are priced appropriately, and well-edited. In M/F Omegaverse on Amazon, this often isn't the case.

This story is quick, short, but well written with all the basic things in Omegaverse I like: Failing suppressants, an Omega & Alpha caving to their biological drives, an oncoming heat, nesting, & claiming. A little bit of adventure so this story had a plot too.

The writing style was actually reminiscent of Nora Ash. Clean, good flow, a nice build up of suspense. This author is talented. She writes erotic dark vampire stories under the pen name, E.V. Gray, and I'll definitely be checking those out.

This really was a pleasant surprise. I want to thank the author for pricing this appropriately. I would recommend this to KU subscribers who want a quick, short Omegaverse read. This isn't very dark compared to others in the genre, but it was a fun read with a few dark themes. A little bit of danger was in the story.

Violet finds herself lost in a snowstorm and finds a little cabin which is the temporary home for a… YES! You guessed it: an alpha male who also happens to smell like his mate.

She struggles, there’s a lot of fluids and broken furniture.

And that’s omegaverse for us and I wouldn’t change a thing 🥸

Trapped with the Alpha was a short, smutty and satisfying read. While not amazing it was exactly what I needed since I was short on time and no other books were keeping my interest. I will definitely read more books by this author.

Escaping from a prison reminiscent of re-education camps, reluctant Omega Violet takes shelter with even more reluctant Alpha Kade. The rest of the book details their cabin-romance smexy times, though something needs to be done about that prison...

If you're looking for a fairly mild Omegaverse story (Violet suffers abuse, but not at Kade's hands) between two likable people, you'll probably enjoy it. I'm glad I read it and I do recommend it, but given its relatively short length, there isn't a whole lot of world-building or character depth beyond the minimum. I'll also say that I was disappointed that Violet tried so hard to escape her fate ? And I've never understood the simultaneous need for and hatred of Omegas that many of these Alphas feel.

Props to the author, though, for comparing Violet's black-market suppressants to bleach. Now, let's see, who else encouraged people to take bleach for an ailment?

3 stars.

Author tried to do too much in such a short book and all of it was underdeveloped. Wouldn't read again or recommend - even for smut.

Fabulous

Quite a short read (for me anyway) but certainly full of everything I love in a good book. Drama, romance, sizzling heat, and a dastardly villain or two.

Trapped with the Alpha

Plot: Violet is a late-blooming omega who was sent to a facility for recalcitrant omegas. It's a place where omegas are abused into behaving "properly." Violet manages to escape, even though her survival is still in question. She ends up on the doorstep of an alpha, the very type of person she's trying to get away from. Kade is a alpha living in isolation, stewing in guilt that may or may not be necessary. When Violet shows up, he has no choice but to take care of her - she's close to death. She's also close to her heat though, a heat that will send him into rut.

Character development: I love omegaverse, and this was a great entry into the canon. Violet is adamant that she is not just an omega. She has an identity that is not synonymous with her designation. She wants more from life than just being the plaything of a powerful abusive alpha. Kade is looking for peace after saving someone from the very life Violet fears. In this way, they are perfect for each other. They understand each other (or will once they talk!). I love that he took care of her and continually called her by her name, and then went to save her even though she ran away from him. This was a sweet story.

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes!

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was fairly good, with occasional typos but not enough to significantly detract from the reading experience. The writing seemed a little rough around the edges, like a debut novel. The world building was minimal but enough to serve the story's purposes. The characterization was okay, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals if not especially complex or nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was good, with plenty of good sexy times. I bought into these two characters having an actual HEA where they ended up together, which is not always the case for me with m/f omegaverse romance. The plot and pacing were quick and exciting. There was a medium amount of angst on the part of the heroine which was well justified by her experience with Alphas. There were very high stakes, so the combination of well justified angst and high stakes meant I enjoyed the story, though I typically don't enjoy angst much. This novel used the Partner in Trouble trope, the Snowed In trope, and the Mating Bond trope common to omegaverse romances. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were three stars. The quality of the storytelling was a little rough around the edges. I really enjoyed it, however. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, which is a really big plus, especially considering the plethora of cliffhanger endings in m/f omegaverse romance. I recommend this romance to people who enjoy m/f omegaverse romance where the romantic hero really qualifies as having heroic qualities. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, if the author turns it into one. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel because the writing is a little rough, but I did enjoy it and may buy copies of this author's later work as she matures as a writer.

Perfection, a runaway Omega barely makes it through the blizzard and to a lonely cabin in the middle of the woods with an Alpha that has a lot of baggage.

Ever since I discovered omegaverse, I've been in love with this genre. This book is no exception, it easily filled a craving for this type of book. Everyone has a different take on this world and I enjoyed reading Liliana's version of it.

You have Violet, who's a late blooming omega, that got abandoned by everyone as soon as her classification presented itself. Instead of getting help, she's torn from her life and thrown into a prison camp to be taught how to be a proper omega. The teaching here is supposed to break her, but she manages to escape and runs right into Kade's surprised arms.

Kade is an alpha that carries a lot of guilt for something he did to help someone close to him. He's thrown himself into self-isolation, believing he's a monster for what he's done. Nothing changes until Violet ends up on his doorstep, needing help.

These two souls call to one another from the get-go, but it's not all smooth sailing. They both have things they need to work through, but the connection is there from the start, even if they don't want to admit it at first.

I loved reading this book. It may have been a quicker read, but this one didn't need to be drawn out. It was great just as it was. I can't wait to read more by this author and I hope she continues to write omegaverse stories!

The omega escapes a torture chamber and work camp to end up on his doorstep in a blizzard and ends up going into heat. Hot and spicy inside while the storm blows outside. Both of the main characters are healing from trauma and don't feel worthy or trust the other leading to misunderstanding. Can the fated mates work through their issues together or are they fated to be alone and suffering. You'll have to read to find out! Overall, an entertaining read that is full of spice and has a decent surface plot.

I always keep an eye out for Omegaverse-Light and happy dance when I find one. TBH, I love the idea and tropes of Omegaverse, but struggle with the stories. Not due to lack of talent and imagination from the authors, but rather the... harshness of the relationships. I guess I need more romance in my romance.

Trapped with The Alpha definitely hit the mark for me. It has all of the lovely darkness of Omegaverse; the tropes we all know and love, but the relationship of the two main characters was everything I look for in a dark romance.

Kade and Violet, with all their wariness and tragic experiences, connected and worked well together. The story was action packed, crazy hot and steamy, and well written. The story provided a satisfying conclusion, while leaving the story open for more books in this world. I enjoyed and appreciated the HEA and epilogue, finding I have a very soft spot for that final piece of a story, allowing a nice feeling of satisfaction before I close my e-reader cover.

I absolutely see my self re-reading this book and sure as I’ll keep looking for more Omegaverse-light, I’ll be following this author and looking for more in -hopefully- this series!

BOF.

A lot packed in this novella! I thought considering everything that happens in a short amount of time it’s paced rather well. The hero is sweet to the omega. But her back story is dark. Mostly off page trauma

I liked it swapped between degradation to praise and back again 🥰

Omega fights for rights to education.

Nothing like a good education unless you are an Omega. Only meant for sex and Alphas who need children. This girl runs and finds her true Alpha. Great story. Short but a good read.

Not too dark

There is some rough topics and violence in this but if you get past that both main characters are likable and get their HEA
