In the year 2026, the first humans traveled to Mars. Soon after, additional people traversed the expanse, their trek times decreased thanks to advances in propulsion. Then in the late 2030s, A.I. systems radically altered space travel by unlocking the secrets of gravity, thus cutting the travel time from six months to six hours.
With this new travel technology, humans emigrate to Mars by the millions, forming cities and governments, and eventually the Martian Federation. All the while, Earth maintains tight control over its multitrillion-dollar investment. Mars resents this, but with their survival dependent on Earth, they unwillingly concede.
Over time, scores of Martians demand secession. By the 2070s, rebel groups form The Resistance and start attacking Earther facilities and personnel. For Ara Elio, a Martian native, this opposition movement has no personal meaning. However, an unexpected event will thrust her into the eye of the rising red storm.

The red menace is a bunch of Martian rebels, who are trying to get "Earthers" off Mars, and they are adopting terrorism to do it. There are a few rich "Earthers" who seemingly want to fight and squash this rebellion, wipe out a lot of Martians, and they are prepared to stage false flag operations. Meanwhile, we have a smuggler with a super-advanced technological ship. The plot is reasonably involved, and the story more or less advances at a good rate. The more or less follows from a weird piece of structure – there are three prologues interspersed throughout the story. Much of it is set on Mars, but very little of the real Mars is in evidence, and it is effectively similar to a very underpopulated Earth. More could have been made of what Mars is like, even if it has been seriously modified. For example, you cannot do much about the gravity, or the lack of air. A little flavour would have made a lot of difference. There is a lot of action, and by and large it is passably well-written, however the details are not filled. This is a problem for the prologues – we know what happened, more or less, but exactly how or why it happened are missing. The author has adopted the no-tell approach and avoided info dumps to the point where we don't actually know why this problem arose. The characters and the descriptions are good, although again, why some of the minor characters are doing what they are doing is missing. On the annoying side, some editing is needed. As an example, there are times where your and you're are used completely wrongly, and there are a lot of soliders around. I assume in context they are soldiers, but if not they should be explained. Overall, a good light read, but annoying on details.
Showing the evolution from year 2026, when the first humans traveled to Mars, to the 2070s, when rebel groups in Mars form The Resistance and start attacking Earth facilities and personnel; author Mark Anthony wrote “Red Menace: The Martian Resistance”. This science fiction story tells us about Ara Elio, a young Martian native, who an unexpected event will thrust into the eye of the storm. Although this is a long length book that has some more than four hundred pages, it is divided into 70 chapters, which make it an easy reading. Also, the balanced mixture of narrative and dialogues keeps its chapters motivating and brings each one to a fitting end that urges the reader on to the next for more. But what was more catching for me was the imaginative description of scenarios, characters and futuristic tools and devices. I was really impressed by the world building of this life in Mars. With an engaging and fascinating plot surrounding the phenomenon of space travel and interplanetary life, it will appeal to readers across genres.
“Red Menace: The Martian Resistance” is a gripping science fiction book written by Mark Anthony. In this futuristic novel, the battle between love and hate takes the form of a fight between Martians and the inhabitants of Earth. After a series of innovations in technology and discoveries in the field of space travels, Mars has been fully colonized. By the year 2070, millions of people have travelled to the red planet and have created cities and the Martian Federation. Martian natives resent the tight control planet Earth still has over Mars and create The Resistance. Ara Elio, the protagonist of this story, gets involved in this battle, which will change her life after it becomes personal. What I liked the most about this book is that it has a perfect blending of science fiction and romance. It is excellently written and the technological and scientific ingredients are so well employed and explained that they make this book convincing and original at the same time. A must-read for all science fiction lovers.
Red Menace: The Martian Resistance by Mark Anthony is a true science fiction adventure. Ara Elio is a native Martian that only knows that Mars should be ruled and governed by their own people, not Earthers that do not understand the struggles and livelihood they possess. Determined to get revenge and justice for her brother who was shot down, Ara joins a rebellion that seeks to be free. Peace doesn’t get results, so they must up their strategy and take the fight to them.
Even though there is plenty of action and fighting in Red Menace: The Martian Resistance; I love the humor and snarky attitudes of Cage and Mel. If I turned it into a movie, Mel and Cage would add intrigue. Ara is focused and dedicated, while Rowen follows her to keep her safe. Overall, this novel shifts from serious, to witty, and back to intense. Lovers of science fiction will want to visit more of Mark Anthony’s books, as this is his forte and is becoming identified in this genre.
In 2026 the first humans traveled to Mars. On this fateful mission, the groundwork was laid for more frequent space travel. After many more years, advances in AI Technology enabled the trip from Mars to be cut down to a few hours. This opens Mars as a new Frontier and millions emigrate in hopes of a better life. One thing leads to another and now the millions on Mars are petitioning to leave Earth’s rule. The year is 2070 and the resistance is growing, in the midst of all this unrest is Ara Elio a Martian native who is unexpectedly thrust into the middle of everything. Plenty of action, suspense, some political intrigue are in here that will certainly grip your attention and make you want to continue reading. Ara, along with her friends and compatriots struggle to find their place and struggle to really figure out what they want in this new world, where allegiance to Earth is expected, even when they have no knowledge of Earth.
Not a boring alien’s story! The Martian Resistance is a futuristic novel written by Mark Anthony. The author shows its reader a future where travelling to other planets becomes easier and faster. As a result, millions of humans move to Mars and there are even newborns in this distant planet. The problem is that humans did not escape from the problems they had on Earth; actually, they took the problems with them. Thus, attacks, battles and wars start and everyone has something to fight for, even the main character, called Ara Elio, a Martian native. What I liked the most about this story is how the author imagines and describes this unreal future. He is convincing with his ideas and how he expresses them, which makes this tale compelling. I believe that the writer could have written a shorter book with lots of sequels from this story, instead of writing a 500 pages book. Nevertheless, the tale is fascinating, perfect for science fiction lovers.
Red Menace: The Martian Resistance is a clever science-fiction adventure book written by Mark Anthony, an author from Los Angeles. His imagination and his passion for robotics have helped him craft this masterpiece which appeals to any kind of reader since it is really interesting and delightful. It is an action, fun and fast-paced novel that will leave the reader excited until the last page. This book contains seventy chapters. Each one more captivating than the last one, but if I have to choose one I would say that my favourite is the last one since I kept biting my nails until the last sentence. To be totally honest, as soon as I opened this piece of work I thought it will be impossible to stay focus on its 467 pages, but I was wrong. It really fulfilled my expectations. If you are ready for an adventure that will take you on a spatial journey to Mars, be sure not to miss out on this one! I am most certainly looking forward to more from this very talented author.
From my point of view, I found this novel more interesting as for the way the author laid the plot than because of the theme itself. Nowadays this topic is not considered sci-fi anymore, so I think authors need to step up their game when choosing this matter. Mark Anthony did a very good job developing a scenario where Martians want to liberate from Earth government and rules to find freedom. What happened to me while reading Red Menace: The Martian Resistance was that I immediately started analyzing it from a sociologist view, and I kept thinking after I finished it. Even though certain things are questionable to occur, other might happen one day.
It all begins when science and technology help improve the time travel to Mars and little by little people migrate and start building cities. And, like I mentioned before, they also start to fight for their free will with Aria Elio as the head Martian.
Set in the future, Red Menace: The Martian Resistance written by M. Anthony, revolves around the tension between love and hate, expressed through a similar tension but between Martians and humans. Even though the book is divided into 70 chapters and that the topic may sound difficult, this futuristic science fiction novel is penned in a way that any type of reader would understand. Simple grammar and simple vocabulary has been used. The author has put all his writing skills into play here and has crafted a rollercoaster of events that unfold naturally, captivating reader’s attention right from the first page. The fact that he has chosen to write this book in the form of a dialogue makes it easier for readers to follow the story along and you will end up loving the main characters, which are portrayed in a realistic manner. Please, don't feel intimidated by the number of pages, you will flick through them super fast! Totally recommended!
What a great Science Fiction Novel! I was really wrapped up in this futuristic writing.
Mark Anthony is the writer of “Red Menace: The Martian Resistance”. Author Anthony takes us to the year 2030, where humans travel and settle on Mars. Over the years A.I. systems radically changed space travel by shortening the travel time from six months to six hours. In 2070, Martians demanded secession to become independent. Will they get what they want? Or will they have to fight to get it?
The plot is gripping right from the start and the world building is incredible. As well as a highly original plot line, the novel includes a number of fascinating characters, which are very well described and drawn. I am a big fan of futuristic novels and when I started reading it was very difficult to put it down! I must confess that books like this are definitely my cup of tea.
Red Menace: The Martian Resistance is a great science fiction tale penned by M. Anthony. Set in 2026, the story is centered on the first human beings that touched Mars during that year and the subsequent events that unfolded after that, such as tension between Martians and humans and between love and hate. The author decided to divide the book into 70 chapters and use the technique of dialogues to make the sequences of events more realistic to readers, something that I really liked. Two main themes make up this great piece of literature: love and science fiction. Both of them have been perfectly blended through the author’s amazing writing skills. I absolutely recommend this gem not only to lovers of sci-fi, but also to those looking for something different. Red Menace has been a wonderful addition to my library. It was certainly money well spent!
This was a long and convoluted story, but it was interesting enough to keep me turning pages. It takes place in three parts and could probably be three books. I liked the characters enough to feel concern for them. There are some editing errors. (Wrong or double words) As an independent author myself, I don’t ding for that. But if you’d rather miss a good story rather than suffer the ravages of a misplaced comma, then this might not be the book for you. The weakest part of the story is that several characters swap sides. These folks were hard core radical on one side, then had epiphanies. One character maybe, but three was too much. Also, the technology seems improbably, particularly weapons and armor. But this is sci-fi and I was able to up my suspension of disbelief, enough to enjoy the tale. I recommend this book.
Red Menace: The Martian Resistance by Mark Anthony is one of the best books of adventure plus sci-fi I have ever read. The story starts when Ara Elio, a native from Mars, joins the rebellion after her brother was shot demanding justice against the earthers (people who live on Earth). We all dream of travelling to Mars at some point in our lives, and Anthony makes it real with the photographic descriptions and the number of details he added to the story. His characters are all well-set and they were developed in such a way that they are easy to follow along with the story. I have to say, from time to time it felt like this story was a little tribute to Star Wars and sci-fi all together. I really enjoyed reading these 70 chapters, it is an easy yet remarkably interesting novel that you will not be able to put down until the end. I am really looking forward to reading more adventures Mark Anthony has to offer.
An interesting story about love and hate that shows that we are all intertwined, no matter what planet we live on. This story was interesting though hard to follow sometimes. There were a bit too many characters and too many people double crossing or acting as though they support “the other side”. Overall, it was a fun and inventive read. #GoodreadsGiveaway
Be sure to read this one. It has everything. Including sex, love, hate, action and excitement. My first impression was a little confused but I figured out the style pretty quickly. You will enjoy this its a little science fiction but somehow feels current.
Earth colonized Mars and wants to keep control of it. Mars humans want freedom. A war ensues as some strive for peace. I won this through a goodreads.com giveaway.
Will Earth and Mars wage war against each other? And is someone looking to profit from the conflagration? My biggest complaint: editing needs to be much better. Lots of the wrong version of a word - their, there, they're or your you're. Or spell check doesn't catch a wrong word because the wrong word is also a real word
I received a copy of “Red Menace” free through Goodreads. Average, so- so SciFi novel set on Mars in the future where a small group of dissident activists is acting to bring down the usual evil , giant corporations. Resources are being mined and the natives of Mars locked in wage slavery. Leading the rebellion is the usual doughty , tough young woman activist who is tougher, faster and stronger than anyone. She is being helped by a renegade ex- military officer and a mixed bag of “activists”. There is nothing new in this novel and he book seems aimed a young adult audience. Red Menace did not hold my interest. I started it three or four tries, but this was a book easy to put down. So easy that I put it down for good. But....read it for yourself . This is just one man’s opinion.
If you’re looking for a SciFi story, don’t go here. I went about about 1/4 of the way through the book before giving up … it overall seems kind of amateurish. While the plot lines are relatively clear, the story is not all that well written, and borders on boring. PLUS, I picked this book up to read SciFi — not political strife. (Consequently, a 3-star Rating is generous here!)
I got this book as a prize. Sadly, one can see the need for professional editing. The plot is alright. The dialog is stilted. The characters lack depth. Hopefully Mr. Anthony will grow in his writing.
