For most of it I found it hilarious and seemed to remind me a lot of Kaguya Sama: Love is War. 😚 The premise is about a newly couple where the male lead, Keichurou Katsuraga belongs to a family of Presidents and has entered a relationship with Yuuri whom he met on his train rides on their way to school. He has certain "traditions" that he has to follow for being a part of his prestigious family. Overall it was a fun concept, at times I found it a little too cringe. The man used to go extreme lengths to follow his traditions. Dude didn't even let her hug 😂. But I found it was so cute and the way they overcame whatever life had thrown and persevered together - i was rooting for them 🥺

It's cute, delicious fluff and in this economy I needed it for my soul.

Yuri and Keiichiro find themselves in love, but Yuri’s readiness for physical affection is about to slam into Keiichiro’s familial obligations that forbid him from getting handsy. Now it’s time for negotiations to begin… quite literally, even.

It might be the weirdest synergy ever that Viz publishes this the same week that Kodansha releases The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity, which also features romance between two socioeconomically different leads that attend two socioeconomically distinct schools that are right next to one another.

In this one, the girls are the wild ones and the guys are… significantly less so. I assume they’re not eunuchs, but they’re a restrained bunch, so maybe? This manga is the comedy forward version, while Fragrant Flower has the more romantic stylings.

I give the nod to the competition because I typically prefer a story with more heart, but there’s actually a fair amount to this one as well, plus it’s genuinely funny in a way that a lot of manga aren’t.

I think the first chapter doesn’t set this off in the right direction until the very end, when Keiichiro’s facade finally slips and then everything gets slightly more fun with his incredible starched shirt persona.

Around this time, the story leans hard into the absurd, which is exactly what the premise needs to be any fun whatsoever. While that can be a dicey proposition, it works here because the series’ concept is itself so inane that playing it straight would make it unbearable.

Any story that uses the term ‘uncultured waifs’ shortly before using poles to dislodge a cadre of young women from the entrance to a boys’ school is probably running on my wavelength, honestly, and this keeps on getting stranger and stranger.

The basic story is the way Yuri’s machinations tend to blow up on her, but typically with Keiichiro being incredibly sweet in the process. And, frankly, their initial meeting is as good as some of the best shojo. Yuri is way more soft-hearted than you’d expect.

But then they attempt to have intimate conversation while Keiichiro is sandwiched amidst his omnipresent bodyguards, contract after contract after contract is drawn up (clever reversal of this later on), and the cellphone chapter devolves into wildly fun silliness by the end.

And despite being mostly a drip, the story gives a little more to Keiichiro as it goes along. He’s more straining under expectations than he is acquiescing to them, given one proclamation about sex that is hysterically blunt, and that’s key to him being less of a scold and more a dutiful son who’s well aware of his position.

There’s no love without compromise and this is one heck of a compromise for all concerned. Yuri’s very ready, but Keiichiro is not (sort of), yet her affection isn’t a trifle she’ll just throw aside easily. And, for his part, Keiichiro is soon working more angles than a billiards game at a mathematical conference to return some of that affection.

Oh, it’s based on a dumb idea, but it knows it is, and that’s probably why all of this goes how it does and works how it works. When the initial infodump between Yuri and her gal pals takes place in the classroom and it turns out that class is actually going on as they dutifully ignore their teacher? That’s about when I realized this might be pretty good.

3.5 stars - closer to a base 3.5, but I’d round it up anyway for all the goofy jokes. There are at least five things I felt were very funny and that’s a very good outcome, so a recommend for a little shojo with a lot of silly.

Not gonna lie, I'm so disappointed. I expected something steamier! This is very chaste. To make matters worse, it's not as fun as it could've been. The jokes are forgettable. On top of that, Keiichiro has no charisma. While I feel bad about how sheltered he is, I don't find him endearing in the slightest. I wish the mangaka would lean more into the absurdity of the situation. Unfortunately, I don't see myself continuing with this.

I binged the entire volume 1-9 so I’ll just copy paste my reviews since they’re all separate volumes.

This was funny, romantic, and sad all at the same time. I know it’s a typical romcom but I won’t lie I shed. Few tears while reading this— the ending is abrupt, I wasn’t even sure if tjat actually was the ending (hopefully not) but overall the story was just so wholesome and so funny that it made it all worth it.

Yuri and Keiichi are so cute together, how they’re do different yet their personalities don’t clash since they always find a middle ground. I will say Yuri is jisy best girl (and I don’t favour female characters often) how shes so understanding with Keiichi situation yet also stays true to herself, Keiichi is such a unique character that you can’t help but laugh but sometimes I do get frustrated with him, especially those times when he refuses to compromise and thinks he can shoulder everything, it also gets annoying how Yuri is always the one making sacrifices while Keiichi has to be stubborn but I know Keiichi is always thankful towards Yuri and by the end my man pulled through, that’s what you call character development. Seeing how he was a firm believer of their “traditions” and seeing how Yuri opened his eyes at how ridiculous it is. Love them both.

This was such an unexpected read and I’m glad I read it. I’ll probably rate volume 1 and 2, five stars since those were the volumes that got me hooked while I’ll rate the 3-9 a four stars, which is stull pretty good but as a whole this series gets a 5 stars.

This is a book about the young high school student who must remain the chaste. No physical contact, no kissing, no handholding, nothing. It is because he’s born to a political family, and it is the rules within their family that between the ages of 12 and 18, there is to be no physical intimacy. The main character has a girlfriend, and she would at least like to kiss. The title makes you think it might be even more and part of it does seem like she’s looking for that, but they can’t even kiss. The idea is interesting, but the execution is boring. This is definitely a character study and our female main character seems very needy and whiny while the guy seems a stereotype of what Americans think Japanese culture is. I did not find this book fun or enjoyable and have no desire to finish the series.

I really thought this would be much more...spicier with a title like that. Spoiler alert: it was not haha. Still entertaining though.

RECAP: Yuri finds out her BF is actually really affluent and it turns out he can't have any intimacy with women until he turns 18. Bodyguards multiplying, phone debacle, him telling her once he turns 18, she's beg him to stop (omg), and a flashback from his POV falling for her.

read until: chapter 54 [completed]

this was absolutely adorable. yuri boldly—and wholeheartedly—confesses her feelings to the quiet and reserved keiichiro, and from there, their dynamic becomes an absolute joy to watch. keiichiro is someone who tries to follow the rules, especially those set by his strict family, while yuri is the kind of girl who’s constantly (and charmingly) pushing against them.

at first, yuri thinks she’s the only one invested—she’s the one craving physical affection, initiating all the excitement in the relationship. but over time, keiichiro proves that he’s just as devoted. he may not be loud about it, but he consistently finds clever loopholes in the rules to show his love and fight for their relationship in his own way.

sweet, funny, and full of heart, hayaku shitai futari captures the push-and-pull of two very different people learning how to meet in the middle—and falling deeper in love as they do.

This was just ok. We got to meet our main characters and understand that our MMC is of a higher class and political status. With this being the case, his family also has a tradition where he isn’t allowed intimate contact (holding hands & kissing) until 18. The FMC wants to show her affection and tries her best to do so. This volume was a bit slow and repetitive but I am curious as to where it goes and I already have the next two volumes so I will continue with those and make a decision from there. The layout was also a bit confusing at times.

there are few things that are still a constant from my 13yo self, but shoujo manga are one of them FOR SURE. is the premise of this hilariously idiotic? maybe. it's also so amazingly cute and the art is gorgeous and i am enjoying myself WAY too much reading this so <3

⭐️ 4.5!
This book was so fun and cute!!! ^_^

The MMC is born in to a longline of political figures and has all these family rules he must abide by when free spirited Yuri comes along and tests all these boundaries. They’re both such sweet characters 🥹

This series is genuinely so cute and funny and yet I found myself so in love with the characters that I was sobbing at their hardships.

My newest favorite manga in a long time

I’m intrigued. The story is a little outrageous and you get some secondhand embarrassment, but you (at least I did) burst out in laughter. They’re both each other’s first love, so it’s a little awkward. They’re navigating that and all of the male protagonist’s weird “traditions.”

Captain, I will go down with this ship. 🚢

Yuri and Keiichiro are two very different people that have found a way into each other's lives. Each attending a school for their gender, they meet on happenstance one day when Yuri tries to return something Keiichiro dropped. Keiichiro immediately became curious about Yuri's free spirit and comedic personality, so different than his own. The pair quickly find themselves wanting to attempt a romantic relationship. There's just one problem, Keiichiro is the son a well-known diplomat, and if he doesn't want to lose his family's alliance- then he must follow their rules. This includes no touching until they are of age! Unfortunately for Yuri, who craves Keiichiro's attention, she must follow the rules, or lose out on Keiichiro entirely. Between her best friend saying "it's not worth it," to watching Keiichiro doing everything in his power to please Yuri, she stays true to her love despite the obstacles ahead of her!

This was a cute first volume to Yuri and Keiichiro's story. I love it when author's depict a couple early on- avoiding common tropes of miscommunication and forced proximity. What we see is a high school couple trying to be together, and navigating their relationship from the beginning. It's cute and wholesome; I'd definitely read the next volume. 4/5 stars.

My first impression of this manga was that it was going to be a little adult - but that was only based off the title, but I do understand that it's meant to be eye catching. I almost didn't want to give it a chance, but I'm glad I did because the actual content is very innocent. The interactions between the characters was really cute, and I am curious how it will change as their relationship progresses. I'm trying to think of another manga or graphic novel series with the same premise - and I'm drawing a blank. I have seen other comments about it being similar to Kaguya-sama: Love is War, but I don't agree. While the vibe might be slightly similar, the whole idea behind that story is they don't want to tell each other their feelings - the main characters in Let's Do It Already! are a couple and have shared their feelings, but due to circumstances they can't be as close as they want to be. The very end of the volume another character is introduced and I see some drama headed for the main characters. Overall, good first volume and it made me want to read more of the series.

Thanks to #NetGalley for an advance e-copy of #LetsDoItAlreadyVol1 by Aki Kusaka to read and review.

I've found in my experience with reading shoujo, a lot of the plot advancement has to do with the "will they or won't they confess" theme, and the growing of feelings of the main leads for one another. In Let's Do It Already, Yuri and Keiichiro subvert this trend about three pages into the manga, where they already establish their feelings for one another and become a couple. The catch? Because of Keiichiro's social status and family lineage, he's held to a very strict set of rules, making being a "normal" couple very difficult. Despite their circumstances, I found the interactions between these two to be super sweet and lighthearted. The first volume does a great job at setting the stage for the couple, as well as giving a sweet insight to the beginning of their romantic feelings for one another. This was a super refreshing read for the genre, lighthearted and sweet. If you are a fan of Kaguya-sama this would definitely pique your interest.

VIZ Media provided an early galley for review.

The combination of raging teen hormones and the barrier of forbidden fruit makes for a very tense romance that will instantly pull in young adult readers and those older adults who are still young at heart. The twist here is interesting in that it is the young man who is the one saying "we must wait".

Kusaka's artwork and story carry all those classic manga elements that make this illustrated storytelling so popular. I particularly liked the various shots that include detailed architecture and layouts in the background. Everything is very cinematic.

I am hoping more of the secondary characters are developed further as the series progresses. I would like to see another female character that is a counterpoint to Yuri's ways, someone more reserved to offer an alternate viewpoint to the situation. And, of course, the last few pages of this volume clearly are setting up a potential for rivalry in the Yuri-Keiichiro dynamic. That is always welcome.
