Duke Maddox’s life couldn’t get any better by most people’s standards. He was bright, popular, likable, and destined for the MLB. And even with his brother and best friends off at college, Duke still had plenty of life left in him. His senior year was going to be the best yet. Or at least, that had been the plan until he’s caught off guard one night, and he finds himself in a situation he’s never been in before and has no idea how to handle it.
Willow Davis
Willow Davis wanted only one thing in life, and she was on the fast track to getting it. With an IQ off the charts, years of hard work, and determination like a racehorse, Willow is going to get into any college of her choice and change the world. That goal was more important than any popularity, shopping excursions, of pedicures. All of Willow’s decisions were her own, and she was ready to make the biggest one of her life. Except, it ends up being the biggest regret of her life, instead.
With regret and humiliation weighing down her soul, Willow has to find a way to move past her mistake and face the music. No matter how mortifying.
Knowing there’s more to the story than he’s been told, Duke starts on a mission that he has no plans on backing down from until there’s a clear victor. Him.
Willow never expected such a fallout, but Duke wasn’t about to just go away.
Note: While Samson (the first book in the series) can be read as a standalone, Ford, Raiden, Duke, and Alistair cannot. They are continued novellas following Samson.
There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.
FROM THE SERIES I ONLY LOVE AND ENJOYED PRETTY MUCH IS THIS BOOK RIGHT HERE. THIS ONE JUST REALLY WARMS ME UP! GREAT ONE!
WHY?????
WHY....
Because the hero is very smart and very gentleman! THE HERO REALLY LIKES THE HEROINE SO MUCH AND FEEL THE PULL WHEN HE FIRST ACTUALLY SAW HER AND KISSED HER FOR THE FIRST TIME... EVEN WHEN THE HEROINE WAS BLOCKING HIM IN EVERY WAY EVEN IN SOCIAL MEDIA, HE KEPT LOOKING FOR HER AND NEVER TOUCH OR GO TO ANYONE ELSE. AFTER HE SAW HER AGAIN HE JUST MADE IT OFFICIALLY TO HER THAT HE WANTS HER NO DOUBT AND HE WENT CAVEMAN TO HER... Which i find to be very extremely hot 😋😋😋
WHEN the hero find outs that the heroine is still underage and he was already 18, he have to wait for the heroine 6 months for her birthday. Which i find to be very romantic... “AND I’VE ALREADY KEPT MY DICK IN MY PANTS FOR THREE MONTHS, WHATS SIX MORE? I’VE BEEN SO OBSESSED WITH YOU, I HAVEN’T TOUCHED A GIRL SINCE THE NIGHT I TOUCHED YOU.” HE actually really waited for her for that long to finally have her officially and legally... he didn’t f*cked another woman to prove something, but he really actually waited for her and thats gold!!!!
THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN The hero is OTT possessive alpha male Many jealous scenes from the hero and it was funny! High school safe hot romantic love story NO CHEATING OMG NO THE HERO IS NOT A VIRGIN NO SEPARATION. Well at first they were technically separated because it was a school break and they weren’t officially together either so... NO DRAMA WITH OW AND OM The heroine once push the hero away like two times because she was confused but after that, nope! HOT SMUT SCENES HAPPY ENDING!!!
This one took a sweeter turn than Raiden and Ford’s stories. Duke is still your typical j/p OTT caveman hero but he’s less of a manwhore than the previous two installments. That was a welcome change.
So this was set up at the end of Raiden’s story. Duke stumbles across Willow at the graduation party and kisses her. We begin our journey on the first day of school a couple months later.
We learn that Willow allowed Duke to take her virginity that night. He didn’t know she was a virgin. She was under the mistaken impression he was drunk and would be angry with her for “taking advantage” in his inebriated state. So she blocks him on all social media and avoids him like the plague all summer.
We learn from Duke he sobered up immediately when he initially kissed her so he had his full faculties for the festivities. Upon finding her at school he steamrolls her into a relationship caveman style. It was amazingly perfect.
Story 4/5, Heat 2/5. This is a slow burn but novella length. There’s one sweet but unremarkable spicy scene at the end. This is very low angst but push away from h. She has low self esteem and has trouble accepting he actually wants her. No condom, virgin h at beginning off page ONS, no separation or contrived fights once together. No cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA.
Other than the almost childish reasoning and behavior of the conflict of this story, it was cute enough to be enjoyable. I had been waiting to get to Duke’s book since the first book of this series, so I’m glad to say it was pleasant enough. All of the stories after the fist book would have been way better if they had been fleshed out full length books including this one. But either way at least it wasn’t as absurd as as the last three stories, though that’s not really a compliment. Enjoy.
Hot sexy guy and a strong dominate female, wholly guacamole you have a winner! Willow decide to take matters in her own hands, thinking Duke was drunk, took advantage of situation. Then hide for awhile so Duke couldn't find her. Duke decided to take the situation in his own hands and Willow was his. Great storyline, excellent ideas, great graphics. Highly recommended to the mature audiences for reading.
M.E Clayton is probably one of my favourite authors out there, however, I didn’t connect as much with this book. This one felt a bit rushed and I wish it had been longer. We barely got to know the characters so it was a bit harder to fall in love with them.
This was a decent read. I might be a bit generous with how much I enjoyed it simply because of the hatred I had for Raiden. After Raiden, Duke was sort of what I needed to make me smile again.
While I’m still not super happy with the manwhore trope, it’s definitely not shoved down our throats as much in this one.
I appreciated the commentary that a drunk person cannot consent to sex. I do want to mention, however that the commentary seemed out of place if we’re supposed to like the heroine. I know that I’m being picky. Duke wasn’t drunk. But the fact that Willow thought he was drunk and only felt bad after the sex? Nope. I’d call that out in a male character. Women characters should be held to the same standards.
Taking that out of the book, however would leave me with likable characters and a good enough story to entertain me for a few minutes. I do wish this one would have been a little longer. We really weren’t given enough time to see Willow and Duke interact.
My three stars are basically all for Duke. He was a good friend to Charlie in Raiden’s book. He has always been the one character in this series who just seemed likable. And he managed to be the only “manwhore” out of this entire series who also had a personality.
Duke is honestly one of my most favorite characters from the Eastwood series. I was already half in love with him from the previous book. Duke is the most gentlemanly, sweet and ‘can I say’ honorable man of all his friends.
Duke knows he has fallen in love, the moment he kisses Willow at a party. What he did not expect however, that after their night together, Willow would go completely AWOL for the summer, going as far as blocking him from everywhere with no way of contact, until they meet again in school.
“She tasted like I was going to be kissing her all night long. Yeah. Willow Davis was mine.”
Despite the road blocks thrown by her, Duke did not give up. He did not look anywhere else, did not be with anyone else either, even though he could have. His main focus was to somehow reach Willow and make her talk to him, and make her his, even if he has to threaten to out their relationship to the full school.
“I’ve been chasing this girl all summer long and I had sent up a silent prayer to Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, when I had spotted her sitting in the back as I walked into first period. She couldn’t fucking run now.” “If you think blocking me and avoiding me all summer was going to work, I got news for you; it didn’t.”
Once they clear their misunderstandings, which even though it really pissed off Duke, he was respectful and tried to understand her point of view (Which was silly only, but the way he handles it was picture-perfect.
“I’ve always liked you, Willow. I’ve always thought you were a cool person. And your brain power is a f*cking turn on. I just never imagined you’d be interested in me since we run in such different social circles. When I kissed you that night, it was because I wanted to f*cking kiss you.”
And the best part is when he found out that she is only 17, and he would have to wait another 6 months to have her, his reaction and behavior was something I found so romantic.
“I’ve already kept my d*ck in my pants for three months, what’s six more? I’ve been so obsessed with you; I haven’t touched a girl since the night I touched you.”
Side Note : The scene with Ford’s little sisters and Willow’s sisters was too cute. PS : The group chat – HAHAHA!
