Ford Abram’s life was easy, fun, and damn near perfect. With loving parents, two adorable twin sisters, ride or die friends, and girls on tap, there really wasn’t much missing from his life. Then one night, he gets knocked on his ass and he’s not sure he’ll ever recover. But a deal was made, and he was a man of his word, if nothing else. But as time goes by, he realizes the deal was stupid and never should have been made in the first place.
Amelia Prescott
Amelia Prescott seemingly had no problems in her life. High school wasn’t the cesspool of angst and awkward for her as it was for a lot of kids. She had friends, a college boyfriend, and a twin brother who she wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. Then one night, hurt and betrayal sting sharply and she’s out for some payback. A deal is struck, and all is right with the world again…at least, until it isn’t anymore.
Faced with some harsh truth, Amelia has to decide if she’s going to let fear hold her back or if she’s going to just go for it, consequences be damned.
Deciding he’s had enough, Ford decides he’s done playing Mr. Nice Guy, and does what he should have done from the very beginning.
Amelia wasn’t looking to complicate things, but Ford was about to uncomplicate them.
Note: While Samson (the first book in the series) can be read as a standalone, Ford, Raiden, Duke, and Alistair cannot. They are continued novellas following Samson.
There's not much to add to my bio, I'm pretty boring...LOL. My favorite thing is to read and, last year, I decided to trade in some of those reading hours and try my hand at writing. The experience has been one of the best things I could have ever embarked upon. It's turned into a hobby that is fun and thoroughly enjoyable. When I'm not reading or writing, I'm spending time with my family or friends.
This addition to the Eastwood series definitely fell short of the first book. It’s not bad though. This novella is definitely shorter period so you just can’t get as much depth.
Amelia and Ford both like each other. They had a ONS months prior after Amelia had caught her (now) ex cheating on her. Ford says he really liked Amelia a lot more than any other girl so he respected her wishes for space afterwards.
Amelia seems to harbor a grudge that he didn’t pursue her for more even though she told him not too.
Honestly, they are both at fault and they both suck here. If she wanted more she should have told him. If he wanted more he should have told her. It gets played off in the book like he’s not at fault because he was respecting her wishes but then he’s mad at her for being mad at him. It’s all petty and dumb.
Ford is a manwhore. He slept with any girl who’d offer it up. There’s a whole thing about protecting them from their own bad judgment by screwing him by always using condoms. This is insulting and stupid. If he wanted to protect them from screwing him he would have turned them down. Amelia is judgy about him screwing around and I don’t blame her. His whole take on his part of his promiscuity pissed me off.
He tells us he was super into her but he did *try* get with other girls after her but none of them “excited” him enough to finish. Take that for what you will.
Story 3/5, Heat 1/5, Angst 1/5. Slow burn but it’s novella length. Only one spicy scene and it’s bland. Push away from heroine. No separation once actually together. No virgins, condoms used, a whole big preachy discussion about him protecting her and other girls by using condoms, manwhore H. No cliffhanger and HFN, epilogue setting up Raiden & Charlie’s story.
Technically no cheating but the vagueness about him and other girls after their ONS is questionable. I’m sure you can tell it irked me. Cheating isn’t a trigger for me but the whole way Ford’s manwhoring is handled in this and his childish sensitivity about it - annoyed me. If you are going to fuck anything that moves own it don’t pretend you were doing them a favor by protecting them. You wanted to get laid, end of story.
This story being about teenagers is as right as this authors teenage rationale, a perfect match. The mind boggling reasoning of these characters was enough to make me walk away from this book for a while before I could force myself to finish it. It was a heaping pile of BS. If you want to read that kind of story then great, if not then steer clear of this pointless short story.
Ford was Amelia's one night stand or so she thought. Ford waited as patiently as he could, but patience can runs out. Ford finally admitted to his feelings and luck on his side Amelia liked him, too. This was the path from beginning to end of Ford and Amelia. Cute story, Highly recommended for mature audiences.
Not as good as Samson. This book barely has a plot, and the heroine is really annoying. The plot limps along and nothing really happens. It's a bit of a yawn.
Too short to have any real content. Just a quick recap of a relationship so that readers know that happened with that particular people. That's how it felt like. 2,5 stars.
Another novella in the Eastwood series by M.E. Clayton. As evident by my other reviews, this series is very up and down for me.
First the good: Amelia wasn’t a virgin. Ford was still way more experienced than Amelia, but, at this point, I’ll take it. I also thought the story was paced well. All of these are novellas, and some of them would have really benefited from being longer. I felt the pace and the length here were okay. It felt more like a complete story than a few of the others have.
The bad: Okay, so at this point I hate to say this is “bad”, because, while normally this would be a negative for a book, with the issues I had with Raiden, yeah, I’ll take this one. The book is forgettable. I finished reading this and had to go back to the description to find Amelia’s name. Ford was just as boring, but his name is the title of the book so no need to look it up. The other books, whether I loved them or hated them, are just way more memorable.
After Samson I expected Ford to be just as good, but alas, this book fell very short. The book is more of a novella really so it honestly doesn’t add any depth to the story or the characters. Even though you have met the main lead in the previous book, they are not that gripping in their own story.
Amelia and Ford indulge in a one-night-stand when she catches her now ex-boyfriend with another girl. Amelia was looking to expunge her sorrows and Ford was damned if he was going to let it be anyone but him.
“If it’s not going to be you, it’s going to be someone else,” “If you’re really going to do this, Amelia, then you better bet your ass it’s going to be with me.”
Obviously, they had the best night ever and they both want each other, but go on to pretend that they are not into one another. Ford is giving her space to ‘get-over’ her ex and Amelia is mad at him that he did not try to pursue her, and that for him it was truly a one-night-stand. Now when Amelia is planning to move forward, Ford has realized that he is in love.
I don’t understand Amelia. She wanted only one night and then she is mad at him for not pursuing her. Its contradictory and silly, which is why I feel like I didn’t like the plot. As a character I didn’t quite like Amelia's. They both are waiting for each other to come to them and the assumptions and misunderstandings are plenty.
But finally, after Ford decides to stop waiting for Amelia to take the first step, he just leaps over all the steps to a relationship and declares them as good as married, and steamrolls Amelia with such sexy goodness that she doesn’t know which way is up or down.
All said and done, I got a bit bored of this book. Sorry.
