She's an assassin. He's a policeman... And her husband.

Bianca Ashby, a certified sociopath with an obsession for her husband, tries to juggle two lives - the demure NYPD Chief Commissioner wife, and the perfect Bratva assassin; all the while keeping her husband safe and blissfully unaware.
But when high-level corruption and a personal vendetta raise the stakes, no one is who they say they are; least of all Bianca’s perfectly dull husband, Theo.
From glitzy New York ballrooms and charity events to underground sex rings, drugs, and illegal fights, the best pretender wins it all.

Author's note: Morally Corrupt has been re-edited. The story remains the same.
Morally Corrupt is a romantic thriller with elements of horror and gore. This is a dark book that explores questionable moral behaviors. Please read the triggers before proceeding.

adrian and/or theo turned me off. the heroine is too much of a badass bitch to be the one who’s swooning/pinning over her hubby like winning the hero's love back bc she saved his ass multiple times from danger. hero is a hypocrite & b deserves someone better and/or that is her equal bc it aint her hubby. should & could have been her bff vlad instead. if you want a trope where heroine doesn’t know her worth and earning the hero’s love/affection, this is it. adrian/theo is piece of shit with a weak ass dick who can’t even protect his own wifey.

the intel is good, i feel like the author put so much work & focus into the plot more than the main characters marriage. like gurl aren’t you focus tryna save their marriage, guess not? i love v & b friendship, they’re the highlight, the sex scenes is meh, and too much going on with too many secondary characters idc for. also nth about this was “dark romance” for me.

Sometimes, maybe even monsters deserve some redemption."

I'm what you'd call trigger shy when it comes to new to me or debut authors. (See what I did there? Assassin? Trigger? Ha! Whatever, it was funnier in my head). I'm such a picky reader, that I'm always hesitant to try a new author for fear that my nitpicking brain will kick in and won't shut off. Yes, I'm one of those. I own it. But when I read the blurb to Morally Corrupt, I knew that blurb was simply too delicious for me not to give it a try. And you know what? I am so happy I did because I just may have found myself a new author to follow.

I'm a sucker for a dark and gritty read, and when you add into the mix incredibly unconventional characters? I'm putty in your hands. PUTTEH I tells ya! And it just doesn't get more unconventional than a certified sociopath heroine who is obsessed beyond reason with her husband and happens to moonlight as a Bratva assassin behind his back.

Bianca Ashby was a character that's vivid and multi-layered. Her quirks hook the reader immediately. Here's a woman that grew up in glitz and glam, with some daddy issues on the side, and is one of the deadliest assassins out there with absolutely no moral compass. And the only thing beyond her job that she's more obsessed with is her NYPD Chief Commissioner who treats her like spun glass when all she wants him to do is the opposite. Then you have her husband Theo, who is not quite all that he seems. GAH. Delicious.

Now that's about all you'll get out of me regarding this story, because you simply need to experience it for yourself.

What I will tell you, is while this is an author to watch out for. For a debut, this blew me away. It was an action packed thrill ride full of intrigue, secrets, murder, and suspense. Warring mafia families, twisted bonds, a sizzling romance, all of it cleverly crafted to keep the reader at the edge of their seats from beginning to finish. There were some parts that were a bit drawn out, and some details that felt a bit much at times. However, I wasn't going into a debut book expecting it to be perfect, so it did nothing to distract from the story. I was obsessed. I was obsessed not only with the main characters, but with some of the most intriguing secondary characters. Luckily we're getting the book for one of them next, but I'm pretty sure if we don't get Vlad's book right after that, I may cry a little.

What can I tell you. This book was deliciously morbid. It was dark, gritty, and sucked you right into the dark underbelly of NY's crime underbelly. The romance was the exact icing on the cake the story needed and I devoured it! Simply devoured it. Told in dual first person POV, it was filled with enough twists and turns to leave her head reeling. Do yourself a favor and read this. Trust me on this. This is one debut you'll want to check out.

theo move i want bianca

I would give her the most sloppiest, wettest, creamiest, soul taking, slimy, life changing, death dropping, heaven sent, flabbergasting, hypnotizing, heavenly, astonishing, leg trembling, hands desperately grabbing the sheets, legs stretching out again and again, toe curling, voice breaking, whimper causing, waist slowly moving up and down, small heavy breath, "I can't take it much longer" breaths getting quicker, twitching throbbing eyes shut lip biting, back arching, edging begging for relief, warm hot rush bubbling up spit upon spit tongue twisting ground tip-talking against month sideways spit from the end and lick from the bottom to the top then spit from the to and lick to the bottom deepthroating mascara dripping down my face, slower then faster faster than little faster then perfect pace twisting mouth around each side, hands in my hair brutally using my mouth, spiritually enlightening chakra balancing, mangekyo sharingan unlocking, golden light like a halo around the top, noise from the very edge of her throat for the final release head ever. And THEN l'd let her pound me so hard into the bed and use my body as though it doesn't belong to anymore that she literally throws me around and does as she please. I wouldn't argue, I wouldn't raise a word, no baby, not to mama, absolutely not. She could ruin me, corrupt me, hit me, choke me, tie me up, bite me, I would absolutely encourage everything she does as long as I get a smidge of her attention and love. This woman could make me fuck myself on her fingers and I wouldn't argue even if I ended up passing out, she could bruise me up and laugh at me and I would take it just to listen to her praise me. I would take her for 50 rounds in 60 positions cause never back down never what???? NEVER GIVE UP and I am not giving up to screw me till my mind becomes nothing but subservient to her.

"I'm well aware. Hell, I've been monitoring him ever since we got married, and I've killed every single potential danger. I'll just continue to kill anyone that intends to harm him."

This book......this FUCKING BOOK!!!
It sucked me in from page one, I was drowning in this world that Veronica created and I refused to come up for air. I literally read this book in one sitting. The web that she created was so intricate and captivating I could not put it down. Just when you thought you knew what was going on she added another layer. This story flowed so perfectly and at the end everything came together so beautifully.

"I don't know. I don't know how regular people love. I only know that what I feel for him is strong enough that I’d kill anything and anyone attempting to harm him. So, whatever I am capable of feeling is all for him. “

B is one of my favorite characters. It’s rarely that I read a book and love the heroine more than the hero but holy shit. She blew me away!
Bianca is a sociopath! She doesn’t think or feel the way normal people do. She has no remorse and she fixates on things. She saw Theo and in her mind he became hers so she did anything and everything to ensure that she got him. There is nothing that she won’t do for him or to protect him and I cannot say how refreshing it is to read a story like this.

"Inside, Bianca gives me a timorous smile, and I have the urge to both strangle her and kiss her.
Kiss her?
Yea I must be as sick as she is!”

Theo.....well Theo was a mystery to me. I didn’t fully connect with him until around 30% and when I did I fucking loved him. He was the tether that kept B sane and I loved how he loved her through her flaws.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book like this before and I cannot wait to jump into the other books in this series. I know my review revealed nothing of the plot but I think you need to go in blind to appreciate the details of this story.

"I just love her... I love her with her obsessive tendencies and her stubborn streak. I love her with her devotion and selflessness because I don't believe for a moment that she doesn't feel love for me. Not when she just put her life on the line to help fulfill my wish.”

5/5 ⭐️

There were slight grammatically errors but not enough to make me take away my rating.

This book was rlly entertaining, I had sm funnnn. It could be made into a movie, it was so vivid. The whole concept, plot twists, characters with hinted depth, backdrops constantly changing, fast paced plot so ur never bored for too long. Almost everything worked out really well for me.

The last 100 pages had me like 🫨🫨🫨 the way It was shock after shock I had no room to breathe!

The side characters were sooo interesting I’m legit obsessed with Vlad and Marcel. Ngl Enzo gave me the ick so I’m kinda bummed that I have to read his book before Vlad’s ☹️

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BIANCA AND VLAD HEALED ME 🥹🥹🥹 they had each others back even if it’s in the most unpredictable and abnormal way possible. Their loyalty to each other??? Vlad going against his nature and taking care of Bianca 😭💗🦋💞💖💓 THATS MY MAN. I claim him till my last breath 🔐💋

At one point I felt more chemistry between Bianca and Vlad than w the cop I’m sorry 😭 Theo was cute just not as good as my man Vlad 👑

The only reason it’s not a five star is because it’s not my preferred style of writing.

There were too many exclamation marks in places that didn’t need it.

I can understand why the first half of the book had a kind of immaturity when it came to Bianca’s pov and then matures once we hit the halfway mark but I wasn’t enjoying Theo’s voice throughout. The naivety just didn’t do it for me sadly. Not that I don’t like him, I just couldn’t connect with his character the way I wanted.

Side note:

“My name is pink”

The first thing that came in my head with her pink bob cut wig was Stephanie from lazy town 😭 I couldn’t shake the image and now it haunts me 🥴

If you don’t know what I’m talking about:

I would write a normal review of Morally Corrupt because it deserves it and is such a great book, but I just can't. There were like 4 or 5 plot twists in this book that really fucked with me. I even cried while reading this, and that doesn't happen often. All I can say is that I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes books filled with crime, secrets, plot twists, and most importantly, an abnormal romance.

Oh my, this was a fantastic way better than I was expecting I ripped through this on record time and I was glued throughout. Here are Bianca and Theo three years after they have married Bianca is still playing the demure shy perfect spouse to her now chief commissioner husband but things are about to implode spectacularly. Bianca has spent the past few years doing damage control in her attempt to keep her husband safe. Due to a tragedy in his past, he’s on a mission of revenge and he’s upsetting some very dangerous individuals in the process.

Bianca is also spiralling her double life taking a toll and her Coke habit escalating. When their worlds start to collide Theo begins to get suspicious and it’s not long before everything comes crashing down and the fallout is not pretty. Both their lives are plunged into disarray and they will need to put aside their own personal problems to work together as a team.

Theo is also having to come to terms with the fact that he doesn’t even know his own wife he only knows an illusion of what she thought he wanted. But Bianca is not the only person keeping secrets here as Theo’s hidden past is also not quite what it seems and his past endeavours are brought to light. Both now having to relearn everything they thought they knew about each other.

As expected Bianca here was pure class love her so much she’s unapologetically who she is and makes no excuses for it Theo is her one tether to normality and she’s terrified of losing him. And whilst Theo does come around eventually and does stay loyal to his wife he definitely struggles to reconcile everything he thought he knew with what is now actual reality his own moral compass coming into play as he attempts to understand just who Bianca is and just what she is capable of.

This was well written and fast-paced and kept the momentum going forward. My heart was in my mouth on multiple occasions and I was enthralled to the very last page. I’m definitely going to be continuing on with this series I’m incredibly intrigued at how other stories will play out and I definitely recommend this but please be aware this is quite a dark read and does contain many triggers.

So, h is an assassin who got obsessed with the H and molded herself into the perfect woman for him while still keeping her side job as assasin. H is the chief commissioner and since she's badass and loves him she protects him from harm, unbeknownst to him. Oh, our h is also a sociopath and addicted to coke.

The whole plot is really intricate and truly amazing, although the execution was lacking.

While I'm not a fan of the FMC being an addict (cause then the story tends to centre around her addiction) I had a feeling this author wouldn't focus on it much - so I continued. Despite her addiction, I really enjoyed her character. That's really where all the praise I can think of for this book stops.

Let's start with the weakass, hypocritical H. He was annoying the fuck outta me!!! He's disgusted by the h when he finds out how she's basically lied about everything BUT this mofo has lied himself about his whole past as well?! He took over the identity of someone from his past who died and was trained as an underground fighter by the Irish mob and he's killed over a 100 people. I also didn't like how he was in awe of freaking everything: how h unlocked a door with a hairpin, what a building looked like etc.. 🙄😂😂. This dude was clueless about everything and everyone around him, he literally didn't handle anything himself. Every time he found out something about his wife, the h, he immediately tells his best friend and he arranges everything. His best friend had to give him contacts and arrange everything. I don't know, maybe I'm just used to alpha males who're rich, never trust anyone and handle everything themselves.

Nothing to say about the h, she's freaking badass and obssessed with the H which I loved!! H didn't deserve her though 😩😩.

The writing lacked as well. It felt too fast paced, but luckily it didn't bother me enough to stop reading. I just wish the author took some time to slow things down and detail more scenes.

To get back to her coke addiction though... I'm obviously not an expert on addictions, so I'm not sure if how the author solved is accurate or not. This girl is addicted to coke for years but still high functioning. When H kicks her out, she decides to quit drugs for him. She does through withdrawal for a few days and on like day 5 she's feeling great and goes to a party with H. She sees people doing drugs there and wants some but H drags her away and that's the end of any mention of drugs ever! H doesn't talk about her addiction with her and she never mentions how it made her feel. Like I said, I'm not an expert but I don't think that's how drugs work 🙃.

I'm still curious about her best friend, Vlad. He was described as an asexual, tattooed sociopath 😳🥵.

My rating is solely for Bianca (26??)—all for her and all the badassery she possesses! She carried this whole book, and I ate everything she served here. It didn't matter that she's the alpha between them, that she's the OTT J/P, or that she's morally gray. I love her and how she's so down baaad for the bland Adrian/Theo. There's nothing that could ruin her in my eyes. 🤣 I just love her obsession with him, though it made me question at times: why him, though? But whatever, it's very rare to meet and read a character like this, and I'm onboard with everything she does, even if it's totally unhinged. 🤣 It doesn't matter whether or not it's crossing the legal line; I'm gonna support her right AND wrong decisions. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can tell me otherwise. 🤣

As for Adrian (mid-30s), I stand by my opinion that he's bland, waaaay too bland for her. But maybe that's how he's supposed to be portrayed here??? Idk, anyway, I didn't particularly care for him; he wasn't giving any main character energy, and that made him boring in my eyes.

Also, it's freaking annoying how he's so flaky in the beginning. He got easily intrigued or attracted by Bianca's different personas (Pink the escort, a stranger in a bar, and Bianca herself) If these were three different women instead of one, the implication would've been so bad.

Even though he ended his almost 2-year sexual affair with her hooker persona when he finally met Bianca the socialite, it still didn't sit well with me. He was cruel with her when he ended their setup, saying that he only wanted Pink for f*cking and nothing more. 😑 That might be the case for him but he didn't have to be harsh with her. 😒

And at a later part, he even admitted that over the years he's been married to Bianca, Pink still crossed his mind from time to time because he couldn't f*ck his wife the way he did with her. Again, if this is another woman, this is so f*cking bad. Because why would he even think about his past escort when he's happy with his wife? It just doesn't make sense. 😤 Granted, at this point, he still didn't know Pink was Bianca; still, he never felt any guilt that he compared their sex lives with what he had with Pink. 🤢 And even though that's just a passing thought, the fact that he still made a slight comparison irritates the ever-loving heck out of me. 😑

Anyway, I just wanna rant about how he's so annoying and not swoon-worthy at all, at least to me.

As for the plot, gotta admit that I felt lost at times and couldn't follow through with what's going on with the story. There's too much happening at the same time, and it made me feel a bit dumb for having to go back a few pages just to read something again to make the connection more clear. Also, the side characters were too many to remember, as was their relevance to the story. It was an overwhelming situation, and I can definitely say I'm not a fan of it. 🙃

Overall, the story was more of a 3 star for me, but I really enjoyed Bianca's character, so I decided to rate this one star higher. She made this long book enjoyable and bearable for me. 🤭

Notes:
- Not really cheating, but when the h got kidnapped, her captor kissed her, and she kissed him back, but only to buy her some time to escape, making him believed she's onboard with his plan.
- OPD. Apparently the main couple in Book 3 flirted with Bianca and Adrian. The OM propositioned her and flirted with her whenever they met. As for the OW, she got drunk at an event, and Adrian assisted her to go to the bathroom, but she dragged him to a closet and groped him. Bianca followed after them and pulled off the OW from him.

I got to 17%, but just couldn't keep going. I've been hoping I'd want to give it another try, but I don't think that's going to happen. The writing/characters are just a bit too cheesy/over done for me. I was really pulled in by the premise because it's almost Mr. & Mrs. Smith like and I would die for a romance novel like that lol but this is not the one for me, unfortunately.

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Go in blind. This book is for lovers of The Girl in 6E by Alessandra Torre, Killing Eve (TV series), and Absolution by LP Lovell and Stevie J Cole.

This is the author’s debut, and what a debut it is! The playlist of the story is so bloody amazing. I loved the intensity of the story. The characters were crazy but so cool. There was tons of drama, but also lots of hilarious moments. But… where they hilarious or pure dark humor/sarcasm?!?!?!?!?!? Sometimes, you can’t tell LOL. You can expect twists and shocking moments. The leading lady’s audacity is just amazing. I love her and all of flaws. She had great chemistry with the leading man. They were both so layered. Their conversations were epic. There were lots of SNAAAAP moments. It’s a very intense and dark read with lots of triggering subjects, so beware.
For a debut, the author surely knows what she’s doing. I recommend this to lovers of the DARKNESS, OBSESSION, DEDICATION, and a love that crosses all the spectrums of insanity! This was a truly glorious debut.

How the hell this book isn't popular is beyond me. 🤯🤯
description

It has everything I love in dark romance and boy was it DARKKKKK. It was so good, I couldn't focus on anything else beyond the book. A soon as I finished the book, I recommended to all my friends who I know would love it.

Bianca is a female character that has made it to my list of favourite badass heroines of all time. She is so strong as a character that is makes up for her flaws. Her love for Theo is all-consuming that it mixes up with obsessive. He bring the good in her and helps her feel emotions.

Trigger warnings.

She finally looks at me. "I'm a monster, Theo, I've always known that. But now I'm dragging you down." She averts her eyes, almost as if ashamed.

"B, don't you dare say that! It's not your fault. None of it."

"How can you say that when I've gotten us trapped like this? My father... he owns us."

"Don't worry, we'll figure something out." I put my hand across her shoulders and tug her head under my chin.

"We're a team, remember?"

"Even if one half is a monster?" She repeats the word monster as if that's all she is.

"Even then."

"I wish it were that simple, Theo," she whispers. "We just got thrown into the middle of a battle that neither of us wants any part of."

"We'll get through this. I promise."

"What about your integrity, Theo?"

"There are things that are more important than that..."

I just don't think I'm ever going to finish this book. I just started being bored. The blurb sounded so interesting, and I was enjoying the beginning of the story. There's not enough romance for me, and instead, it seems more like a mafia/killer book. I don't even remember, honestly, what's going on besides Theo is looking for the man who killed his parents. In the beginning, I was digging Bianca's obsession with Theo. But how could he know her for years and still have no idea that she was a psychopath?

I didn't even get to the cannibalism scene, damn. I LOVE the cover, but this book just wasn't for me.

This was a bit different than my usual mafia type of reads. It met my expectations but also something was missing to make this great for me.

Bianca was a different heroine than what we usually get and I loved it. I don’t think I read a similar book before.
This was dark and I think the rest will only get darker and darker but I’m excited for the series though.

i couldn’t read another word. i cant believe someone compared this to the mind fuck series. it was so bad. the writing was unbearable, the characters were all weird, and the plot was all over the place.

we start off with a hefty list of trigger warnings, and when i saw cannibalism i should’ve known. bianca ashby is one of the worst main characters i’ve ever read about. her obsession with theo or whatever the fuck his real name is makes no sense. isnt she a sociopath? why is she “in love“. her character is ridiculous, the badassness was over the top, and she sucked.

theo himself was A FUCKING JOKE. honestly i didn’t see the appeal. why she stalked him, forced herself into his life under false pretenses, had a sexual relationship with him for years, and then reintroduced herself and married the man is beyond me. he was not worth all that trouble in my opinion. his character was so dramatic oh my god.

the final straw was when the whole prostitute thing happened. so bianca used to work at a strip club? that theo would frequent. he met her (she goes by pink) and they started a sexual relationship for 2 ish? years. theo then met bianca and they started dating and got married. he didn’t recognize her as pink, the girl he was messing with at this club for years. fast forward it’s several years later and theo is suspicious of bianca. he finds her disguise as pink and decides to go visit the club. bianca is alerted of theo’s arrival and goes to the club as well. he ends up fucking pink and CALLS HER LITTLE GIRL several times. that was enough for me.

i can’t believe i spent evermore’s birthday reading this i need financial compensation for the headache this caused me. whoever compared bianca to lana can honestly rot.

Special thank you to my lovely Isa, who I buddy-read this book with. I really appreciate you for listening to me rant and complain [especially about Adrian]; sharing our respective thoughts on it was such a fun experience! I don’t think I would have enjoyed this book as much as I did without you 💞

This book was the weirdest and the most twisted I’ve read; Veronica Lancet certainly wasn’t joking with the trigger warnings. And yet, I had such a great time reading it. I definitely enjoyed Morally Corrupt more than Fairydale, which was the first book I’ve read by this author.

Two people: Bianca Ashby and Theodore Hastings [or Adrian Barnett]. For reasons I still don’t understand, Bianca became obsessed with Theo. The twist? Bianca’s secretly a professional assassin working with her best friend, Vlad, who happened to be the Pakhan of the Russian mafia.

They officially met under ‘certain’ circumstances. Bianca, dressed up as a prostitute called Pink, seduced Theo in a club. For a year, the two developed a strictly physical relationship. Then, Theo met the ‘not so real’ Bianca during a lunch hosting by her father. For Theo, it’s love at first sight. And it’s secretly what Bianca had been hoping. However, Bianca wasn’t honest with him. She’s still not her true self, however, since she’s been carefully molding herself as the perfect picture of Theo’s wife: kind, sweet, fragile, sheltered. Everything she’s not.

Morally Corrupt was a mix between a dark romance and a dark comedy. Bianca Ashby was just that funny and awesome. The true star of the book. It’s very hard to find psychopath female characters, so Bianca felt like a breath of fresh air! Actually, all the stars I gave the book belong to her. Her point of view was so entertaining, and crazy.

On the other hand, Theo or Adrian, however you want to call him, was a little disappointing. Even the side characters were more interesting than him. Huge thanks to Vlad and Enzo, who had more main character energy than this man.

At first, I couldn’t stand Adrian. His thoughts were so frustrating to read, the things he did and said to Bianca didn’t make me swoon at all. Yes, Bianca was mostly in the wrong since she lied to her husband the whole time. So what? She still deserved better. I did find him very hypocritical, considering he’s been lying about his past too. But of course, only Bianca was in the wrong. Obviously.

There’s also a whole revenge plot along the romance between Bianca and Adrian. Adrian wanted to find the murderer of his parents, Jimenez. While I was never bored, I did find the plot confusing. I think the author could have explained some things in a better way, especially since there were too many characters involved in this.

After revealing their true nature to the other, Bianca and Adrian decided to work together, with the help of Vlad and Marcel, to help him find this Jimenez guy. Past those revelations, I did find their relationship much more enjoyable. Adrian finally began to show some strength as a main character. It was a long journey for him to realize he still had feelings for Bianca, no matter her persona, which is something I found quite adorable. The moments where Adrian was worried about Bianca were satisfying to read too. Coupled with the sacrifices Bianca made along the way, and how things just went crazy at the end, I was surprisingly very invested in the story.

I can’t wait to read the next books in the story.

I was immedietly intrigued when I saw the blurb, obsessed-psychotic-heroine?
SIGN ME UP
I have read MANY books where it was the role reversal, but the heroine being the obsessed-psychotic one?
Nada.

When I went into this, I didn't expect the crime and mystery to take such a forefront in the story, and I am not gonna lie, I was at times lost because I don't get what was going on- which is why I vehemently avoid books that are about mystery and crime. I am terrible at following the story.

However, because of the attention the author put to the crime-solving and killing section of the story, it DID made me appreciate and enjoy the scenes between Bianca and Theo even more because of it.
Every time Theo did anything for Bianca or when they have a heart-to-heart talk, I just swoon so much.

This book was ugly, messy, dirty, and yet it still blossoms, and I am completely enraptured by the characthers

Their relationship development happening while in the midst of finding Jimenez was just chef's kiss.
It was the way the Author insert those scenes that made me enjoy the book so much.
It showed their feeling for each other despite being at complete odds.

I love Theo so much, like god, he was so loyal, and loyalty is so rare nowadays in romance books, even when he found out who Bianca was, he still couldn't betray her, and in the end, he fell for her once again; but this time without the smokes and mirrors.

It's super refreshing to see a non-emotional-obsessed-psychotic heroine & a hero that is actually the sane and righteous one in the relationship.
Also, the fact that he owns rescue cats?*Swoon*I don't think I have ever read a book where the heroes own so many cats that he can practically be a cat-lady
Like this author has completely converted me from loving dark-tortured-grumpy-broody heroes to want my heroes to be sweet, nice, righteous, and also save a few cats at the side.
Like I was surprised when the hero was so......dreamy
I can see why the heroine was so obsessed with him.

I am so tired of the tortured-hero image, Theo is what I want.

I am ashamed to say that there are times where I am not even paying much attention to the whole mystery-mob story, my attention is only zoomed to any Bianca & Theo's interaction.

The author HAS to give this couple a sequel, without the nitty & gritty.

I am officially having a book-hangover over them

Btw this book is hella dark, so all the triggers warning included

My Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Trigger Warning - blood & gore, bullying, cannibalism, death, Desecration of a corpse, drug addiction (main character), guns, graphic violence, graphic sexual situations, Kidnapping, murder, prostitution, suicide, rape (side character), serious injury, torture.

Morally Corrupt by Veronica Lancet is a dark romantic thriller that seamlessly blends romance and psychological intrigue. The book introduces readers to an unconventional love story where the female protagonist, Bianca Ashby, is a certified sociopath and a highly skilled assassin. Her husband, Theo, is a dedicated policeman who is blissfully unaware of Bianca’s dark and dangerous double life.

Bianca’s character is a complex blend of charm, intelligence, and ruthless efficiency. By day, she is the perfect wife, attending social events and supporting Ethan's demanding career. By night, she morphs into a cold-blooded assassin, executing high-profile targets with precision. Lara's dual existence is portrayed with such depth that readers are constantly on edge, wondering if and when Theo will discover her true identity.

Theo, on the other hand, is the perfect loving and devoted husband, completely in the dark about Bianca’s truth. His role in the police force adds an extra layer of tension, especially as he begins investigating a series of murders that are, unbeknownst to him, linked to his wife. The irony and suspense of their relationship are brilliantly crafted, keeping readers hooked from start to finish.

Despite her psychopathic tendencies, Bianca is a multi-dimensional character with a compelling backstory that provides insight into her duality. Her love for Theo has no bounds, she is obsessed with him to the point where she will go to any lengths to protect him and keep her identity a secret. This totally adds a layer of complexity to her otherwise unfeeling persona. Ethan is depicted as the quintessential good guy, whose unwavering dedication to justice contrasts sharply with Bianca's morally ambiguous world.

"Morally Corrupt" is a standout book that offers a fresh take on the romance and thriller genres. Veronica masterfully weaves a tale of love, danger, and moral ambiguity that will leave readers questioning the true nature of the characters they root for.
