I've recently started a career as a cabinet maker, so I might be a little biased, but this book was mind blowing. My only complaint was that I wanted more. A lot more.
This is exactly the kind of exhaustively detailed book we needed for thinking about a diy kitchen renovation at some point. I was not reading for cabinet building instructions; Andrew may need to do that at some point. I was reading for insights on building modern kitchens while honoring the spirit of an old house, and solving small space dilemmas. Nancy has worked extensively with all such concerns and many more. I could have wished for a few more pictures of certain kitchens, but this is a beautifully helpful book.
Nancy writes well, with lots of pictures to illustrate what is going on. I learned more about design and building carcases from this book than any other. Plus, I got some design and color inspiration.
The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5, is because the photos could have used better editing and lighting.
