The Civil War made him a man. The battle of Shiloh made him a hero and gave him a nickname that stuck. The notorious Union prisoner of war camp made him a killer of his own fellow prisoners in "Gladiator" contests in order to survive. But the killings brought haunting nightmares that wouldn't end until he settled an old score with a Union Colonel determined to see Shiloh dead.
This is an excellent book. The pace was perfect, the fight scenes were easy to visualize and were realistic. The emotionality of the characters fit with them and made sense. The love expressed in the book was well written. I wish the was a bit more of a reunion at the end but it was still really good.
I really enjoyed this book. I bought it for my husbands grandfather several years ago when Dusty was at The Affair of the Heart in Oklahoma City, OK and he autographed it. He enjoyed reading all of Dusty's books so I decided to read them also. Glad I got to meet Dusty in person and can't wait to read the rest of his books.
