The Windtaker: A Medical Thriller (Darkness to Light Book 3)
by Grace J. Gray

This a review based on a copy the author sent to me.

The third book in this standalone series and once again Anthony Douglas is in the headlights, after being classed a hero for capturing and outing behind bars a notorious serial killer only to be harassed and named by a podcaster for arresting an innocent man by mistake, as four years after the fact murders begin again in exactly the same manner.
Anthony feeling culpable of overlooking evidence is ready to quit his position but June, the medical examiner and his close friend, returns from Washington determined to help him. She refuses to allow Anthony to give up his career without further investigation.

The case becomes even more complicated as both June and Anthony are swept up in a whirlwind of lies and deceit which lead to a nailbiting climax.

My thoughts on this book: I thoroughly enjoyed this short read and like the other two books in this series, I could not put it down after beginning to read. I had to devour it in one sitting!
The plot is well explained and easy to follow but also riveting with exciting elements.

I give The Windtaker: A Medical Thriller (Darkness to Light Book 3) 4 out of 5 stars.

The Windtaker is a short thriller focusing June and Anthony. It starts with a podcast which states about a serial Killer who is on loose and targets an officer for having failed to catch the culprit. Anthony being the officer takes the blame of having being failed and resides to withdraw from work. June assess the situation and gets back to the case with Anthony.
June seems to be more solved person in this story compared to the previous two or in other words her character has developed in a more positive side. Whereas Anthony who was more solved in previous two stories is seen extremely stressed and anxious, unlike his true nature. Well i found similarties of this story with a Bollywood film 'Gupt'. Though the details and intricacies are different the theme and certain scenes are similar (not same).
All the 3 books of Darkness to Light have justified the title; from darkness to light no matter how much crime tries to hide in darkness, soon it comes out into light and justice is done.

Podcaster Katie Stevens, Detective Anthony Douglas, and June are strong characters who work to find the real serial killer who has surfaced. Anthony thought he had put the serial killer known as The Windtaker in prison four years ago but more murders cause the public to demand an explanation. Marcus Jeffers who was arrested by Anthony Douglas and confessed to the murders admits that he was tricked into pleading guilty. Anthony, June, and Katie investigate as the clock is ticking to prevent any more murders.

This book is interesting, thrilling, and easy to read. I was able to read it in a couple of hours because I just couldn’t put it down. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good thrill with suspense.

Four years previous a man had been arrested and confessed to the murder of several people. New York detective Anthony Douglas was the arresting officer. However, the killings have started up again and Anthony has been off work for several days when his partner, forensic pathologist returns from another case and learns about what is happening. She and Anthony go to see Katie, a podcaster who believes the wrong person was convicted in spite of the confession. The reopening of the case starts a twisted race to find the correct killer. I have received this book free from the author for my reviews..

WINDTAKER catches your breath, and attention.
Has left things unresolved, and painful.

Couldn't leave things alone, killed again.
It would take two, to solve.

But in the meantime, became misdirected.
Would end it all, if could.

We hold our breath, ever anxious.
See it through to, the end.

I loved this thriller. Anthony and June are back hunting down another serial killer. Marcus pled guilty and spent four years in jail for a crime he didn't commit. When June speaks to him about the case, she learns some disturbing things that point her towards the killer. A fast paced novella that you can read in one sitting. I would recommend it. I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review.

Another short and easy to read story with a good plot. A serial killer starts killing again leaving the town questioning the competency of the police and the work that has been done before in arresting and sentencing a suspect. The plot has so many turns and then finally the culprit is discovered for the most unexpected motive!
I downloaded a free copy of this book through Bookfunnel as a member of the author´s ARC team and this is my unbiased review.

A novella length story that will pull you in immediately! Considering the length this story was a gripping tale with twists that you don't see coming. Good character development and a storyline that was heart stopping and realistic. Gave me the "shivers"! This story drew me in, regardless of it's short length, and kept me turning the pages and was full of surprises. If you enjoy thrillers that are a fast read, I would highly recommend this book. Creepy, which seems appropriate for a medical thriller.

I received an ARC copy of this book, but I also purchased the set. This is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions.

End of the Story

June and Anthony are on another case together! This case started in the recent past where a number of women were killed. It was thought that the killer had been caught, found guilty and was in jail. However the murders have started again! Will June and Anthony be able to solve it before anything happens to June? Read the finale to find out. Good series!

Motive?

Marcus Jefferies is convicted after he confesses to killing fellow female students in his college classes. New evidence comes to light via Kalie Stevens, blogger, that indicates someone else may be responsible when the killings start up again.

Can June Marshal and Anthony Douglas find the truth before someone else dies?

A popular podcast claims that Anthony Douglas wrongly accused and incarcerated a serial killer and as the body count rises, they are forced to reexamine the case as obviously the wrong person is in jail. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.

Marcus Jeffers had been arrested 4 yrs ago as a serial killer who would hit the women with a mallet type instrument and then freeze their bodies and put them out where they could be seen. He was called The Windtaker since when he froze the bodies it took all of the air out of them. All of the women went to Stony Brook University, they had all had classes with Marcus and he had dated all of them. He also had anger issues. When he was arrested and interviewed by Detective Douglas.
Now 4 years later there had been another murder and a woman who had been a student at the same time, named Katie Stevens who had tried to tell the Detective that he arrested the wrong person. Now she had a podcast and was telling whoever listened that Detective Douglas had arrested the wrong man even though she told him about it at the time.
June knew nothing about this so she had gone to Anthony’s office with a cup of coffee. When she got there one of the other Detectives told her what was going on and that he hadn’t been in the office for a week. June went out and caught a cab to Anthony’s apartment and when he finally answered the door he was a mess and his apartment was a mess. After he told June about the case she told him to get cleaned up and they would go see Katie Stevens. That is all I am going to say. You need to read this great book by Grace J. Gray to find out all the twist and turns this case takes,
