Only for her to vanish the next day without a word. And now she’s the accused in my current assignment. She claims she’s innocent, yet I sense there is more. I want answers, and it’s got nothing to do with the job. But the more I push, the more I realize what I really want is another shot. Another chance at making her mine. There’s just one problem. She’s hiding something. I can see it in her eyes, an inferno of secrets…and it’s threatening to burn us both to ash.*Contains sensitive and mature topics. Recommended for ages 18 and older.*

4.5 stars - I loved this gritty, steamy, angst-ridden story! 😱🔥💜😪🎉
Book four left us with a bit of a cliffhanger. What was on the recording that Zero shared? I didn't have to wait long to find out but WOW! That is some loop that gets thrown at us! Now, I will say upfront that it is much more powerful if you've read the rest of the series first.
That isn't the only loop that Tripp is thrown for. There are a few more that are hurled in his direction throughout, including his former hookup, Mia. I love how things with Mia play out - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the beautiful.
I listened to an author copy of this book. Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan did a really good job.
I do want to note that even though it took me a while to finish, it had nothing to do with the book and everything to do with life happening. 😘
OH! I totally forgot to mention that I LOVED THE CROSSOVER with the Trojan series! 💜💜💝💜💜
SM West is one of my favourite authors so I was excited to get my hands on her latest novel, and I loved it. Sweet and steamy, beautifully sad and broken, this finale is the perfect ending to the New York Nights series.
We finally got strong but silent Tripp's story and it was everything. Having met Mia in college years before, the two are brought together again when Tripp is assigned to gather intel on her for a job and they discover their flame still burns exceptionally bright. But they've both been through traumas and loss that's changed them forever and they must figure out how to move forward or forever be stuck in past despair.
The story was tragic, heartwarming, deliciously sinful and incredibly moving. It was hard to put down and inspired all the feels. I laughed, I cried and I generally didn't want it to be over but all good things to come an end.
I've been a fan of this author's works for more than a year and I devour every new book she puts out. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next and what new characters we'll get to experience. I highly recommend you pick up her books ASAP.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tripp was my favorite of all the men in this series!! How he felt everything, so deeply was just so, well, it was everything. He was absolute perfection!!
I'm sad to know that this series is over but so glad the best was definitely saved for last.
This book, series was written absolutely beautifully and i will miss this group!
Tripp and Mia’s book was the perfect way to end this series. Talk about going out with a bang! Plenty of action, emotion and chemistry had me flying through the pages. Absolutely loved it!
Broken Night started with a revelation that I never saw coming. This secret shatters everyone’s world, but especially Tripp’s. Add in a reunion with a woman from Tripp’s past and Tripp’s world is forever changed.
I think Tripp may be my favorite character in this series. When he loves, he loves deeply and forever. He had never forgotten Mia and he was determined to keep her in his life this time. He’s also loyal and will do anything for his family. While he’s hit with some huge betrayals in this book that send him into a tailspin, he still fights his way out of the darkness to be there for his family. I love him!!
Mia was a great character. She had been through so much pain and tragedy herself and had closed herself off from almost everyone. When she reunites with Tripp, she slowly begins to open up and start to live again.
The connection these two shared jumped through the pages. You could feel that they gave each other peace and made each other happier than when they were alone. They truly supported each other even when it brought them pain. They are perfect together.
Broken Night is a gripping, romantic suspense novel that reveals one secret and twist after another. It was an absolutely heartbreaking read and I could feel both Tripp and Mia’s pain. Tripp and Mia were able to find joy and love in loss and they truly fought for their happy ending. It was bittersweet to come to the end of the book because I am so sad to see the end to the New York Knights series. It has been an awesome ride and I’m hoping to see stories for at least two of these characters in this book in the future.
This book. Oh, my heart, it ruined and wrecked me in the best of ways. I was a glutton for each shocking twist and heartbreaking turn. I was already enamored by this incredible, compelling book world, but I lost my heart completely to these perfectly flawed, amazing characters.
Tripp and Mia knew each other in college, and he would frequent the coffee shop where she worked. After one incredible night together, Tripp thought he finally had a chance for more with Mia, only to wake and find her gone without a trace.
Years later, his job with Hart Corp. gives Tripp a chance to reconnect with Mia. But first, he needs to find out if she's innocent of a legal accusation against her and discover the secret she's keeping from him.
Holy wow, y'all, l never could have prepared myself for this book! SM West has spectacularly outdone herself with this one! She broke my heart right along with Tripp and Mia, and then knit us back together in equally spectacular fashion. And the shockers! I had to pick my jaw up off the floor numerous times.
This one will strike at your heart, time and time again, leaving you breathless and begging for more. It's stunning, riveting, and so full of emotion, your heart will never be the same. This will be one of your top reads for the year, so get your copy and start reading today.
Wow! Just wow! The hits just keep on coming in here! Don’t get me wrong...I love them all! I don’t want to give anything away. This story just surprised me. It is filled with happiness, suspicion, sadness and thrills. It’s a great romantic suspense and the fifth of the series.
Mia is a star in here. She has famous friends, a harrowing past and she is filled with kindness. A perfect addition to this group. We get to see the bond between the original group become tighter.
Overall I loved this one! The story is thrilling, heart pounding, and a favorite of mine. The characters are exciting and I can’t wait to get to know some of them better. I did listen to this on audio. Jacob Morgan and Ava Erickson did an amazing job.
Oh my, these books are fantastic. They are written so very well. The emotion is brilliant, with a heartfelt performance from both Ava and Jacob it will have you entertained for hours.
Broken Night (New York Knights #5) starts with a jaw dropping twist that had my heart racing with excitement. And that’s not the only twist in Tripp and Mia’s emotional and heartbreaking second chance at love. I couldn’t read this book fast enough in my need to know everything and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a fantastic series brought to life by two great narrators and I highly recommend it!
This is my new favorite SM West book. I was a Tripp fan from day 1 (I loved Griffen first, but then Tripp came on the scene & set me straight) ... to finally have this story & to have it told in such an emotional way ... I'm beside myself. I won't give away too much but I will say the revelations in this book will shock you. They will hurt your heart. And finally, they will mend you. Love, love, love.
5 BROKEN NIGHT STARS!! This author amazes me with her storytelling. She will take you on the ride of your life and push every emotion button you have. Tripp and Mia have one heck of a story to tell you so sit back and listen.....you do not want to miss it.
Broken Night ultimately lands, but it takes the long way around to get there. The story leans heavily on back-and-forth tension that didn’t always feel necessary, especially when the emotional core was already strong. The ending was satisfying — grounded, earned, and emotionally clear — but much of the middle felt like manufactured drama instead of organic conflict.
At its heart, this is a second-chance romance built on secret pregnancy and child loss, which is heavy enough on its own. The book struggled because it couldn’t decide which conflict to commit to: the fallout with his brother or the reveal of the daughter he never knew about. Both mattered, but together they diluted each other and stretched the story longer than it needed to be.
The MMC was the highlight for me — steady, emotional, and deeply likable. Jacob Morgan’s delivery gave him restraint and depth that really worked. The FMC herself was fine, but the female narrator’s portrayal of the MMC didn’t match the character Jacob Morgan created, which caused some tonal disconnect. Chemistry between the characters was solid, even when the plot wobbled.
Emotionally, this one didn’t fully land in my body. The drama often felt forced rather than inevitable, which kept me from settling into it. That said, the ending did work — it finally allowed the story to breathe and delivered the kind of resolution I wanted earlier.
Final verdict: ⭐ 3 stars A longer listen than it needed to be, with a satisfying ending that couldn’t quite make up for the uneven emotional journey. I won’t re-listen, but I can see how this might work better for readers who enjoy extended angst and layered reveals.
Broken Night by S.M. West is a romantic suspense that I listened to on audio narrated by Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan.
This is the fifth book in the New York Knights series. They shouldn’t be read as a standalone since they have interlinking storylines.
I absolutely love Suzanne’s books! I loved getting Tripp and Mia’s story. Their story took me on an emotional rollercoaster that I never wanted to get off.
Suzanne did a great job wrapping up the series and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
Ava and Jacob did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this series if you love romantic suspense or second chance romances.
Broken Knight is a captivating and heartfelt story that will send your emotions on a wild rollercoaster ride. Its full of second chances, loss, new beginnings and family. Tripp and Mia are one of my favorite couples by SM West. Their chemistry is off the charts. Their grief and pain mirror the other yet very different. Their happy ending was not easy, but it was oh so perfect and sweet! Im sad to see this series come to an end, but hope we meet these characters again.
It’s a fantastic series and I highly recommend it!
Broken Night New York Knights, Book 5 By: S.M. West Narrated by: Ava Erickson, Jacob Morgan
Now this is what I call romance SM West has written a series that captivated me and had me from the very first line. This second chance at love is one that will tug at your heart, cause tears to flow and love to fill you up. Tripp and Mia knew each other in college. After one night of passion, Mia takes off and the two lose contact. Now years later, Tripp is investigating Mia for a case of his, and is determined not to let her get away this time. But she is harboring a secret that could destroy them both. Will they survive if he finds out? I have been waiting for Tripp's story, and West brings it on full blast. Twists and turns take us through their story leaving us with an ending we won't soon forget. I love the inclusion of all the characters from the previous books in the series, giving the finale a sense of community and a beautiful closure.
Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan finish out the series with a powerful narration. This team is fantastic, giving us every emotional tug. I am not one to tear up, but each heartbreaking scene pulled at my heart. It's a fantastic listen and one you do not want to miss(but make sure to listen to the first ones too! Though a standalone story, you will want to meet all the characters!)
I enjoyed the story. It is complex and interesting, I recommend the story but prepare yourself for language. I d o not like the frequent use of the f word. Some pages multiples. I understand that the word is used as an adjective now but I still find it unnecessry, especially so frequently. I will think twice about reading this author again despite it being a worthy story, told well otherwise.
Overall, this was ok! I liked the side plots of the dead brother interwoven with this second chance romance. I felt the author did a lot of telling rather than showing, which got frustrating after awhile. I also struggled to connect with some of the inner turmoil both both the FMC & MMC. It was a LOT of telling us about big feelings that kinda had me rolling my eyes in places.
Extreme melodrama. FL a little too understanding. ML should have done some groveling; regardless of the issue, and how it affected him, his reactions to it were mean and showed a lack of empathy (she was affected by the issue too, and in a worse way).
This is the fifth and last book in the amazing New York Knights Series. You have to listen to this Series in order. This series has characters intertwined, and interconnected plot. This Romantic Suspense is emotional, heartbreaking, fast-paced, and suspenseful, filled with intrigue, danger and twists and turns. I loved to follow Mia and Patrick (Tripp) in their second chance to love. They are both great characters, caring, supportive, and strong. The supporting characters are great, and they have an important part in this story. I love the heartwarming ending. This is a great conclusion to the series, but. I didn't want it to end! I need more! Jacob Morgan and Ava Erickson did an outstanding job with the narration. I enjoyed it, and I will listen to this Series again. I HIGHLY recommend this Series.
I can't believe the New York Knights series is over, but what a way to end it! Broken Night was everything I've come to expect from this series and also this talented author. We join Tripp and Mia as they find a way to move on from the past and welcome what the future holds for them even though the journey there is far from a smooth ride. Broken Night is emotional, gripping, steamy and heart melting. It has you turning page after page until you get to the end. It leaves you wishing there was more of this fabulous 5 star series!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book
I listened to this on Tempt, which is proving to be a handy app to have. I enjoyed this short read about second chances at both life and love—and it even packed in a little light suspense.
Friends to lovers. University setting. V!rgin heroine. New Adult (FMC is 23). Danger. Kidnapping. Second chance romance. Second chance at life / fresh starts.
Overall: S.M. West books are always a good time, this was no exception. 4 stars.
🎧 Audio: Fantastic production—overall sound quality was flawless and the narrators were also perfect. 5 stars.
What can I say , I have gone through every emotion you can imagine .
Amazing characters. Tripp and Mia knew each other in college, After one incredible night together, Tripp wakes and find her gone without a trace.
Years later, his job with Hart Corp. gives Tripp a chance to reconnect with Mia. But first, he needs to find out if she's innocent of a legal accusation against her and discover the secret she's keeping from him.
I found my self on a rollercoaster , Completely hooked.
