Synopsis
Everything hurts, it just does, that’s how it is and how it’ll stay for as long as we are on this earth. However, we can’t appreciate the good without that bad and we can never see who is truly our friend if we never navigate a storm together.
What I liked
Sometimes I can’t seem to say no to receiving an arc in exchange for an honest review, I’m worried I will miss out from reading some amazing books. And let me tell you, this was amazing.
It’s incredibly easy to read because of the length of the stories. I was so invested in each of them, and after I read one I just had to move onto the next. With them being short, you might think you are going to miss out on a lot of details surrounding characters, setting etc. But the description of everything is so in-depth, it really makes you imagine the story being described.
I’m not going to lie, I had a good cry when reading some of these stories. There is so much raw emotion that comes with tackling issues such as loss, abuse, suicide and so much more in a meaningful way.
The Stories
There is a whole variety of stories here. Some short, some longer than others, wholesome endings, sad endings and a lot of them leaving you wanting more.
Each story is told by different characters apart from a little surprise sequel, which I loved as I thought this would be the only time I would hear from any of these characters again. I would love to see some of these developed into longer stories, but they’re short stories for a reason. The author has given all the details that they want the reader to know. And in this case they want the reader to focus on the hurt and trauma that these character’s are going through.
I really enjoyed pretty much all of them and because I can’t exactly write the full list of stories, here are a few of my favourites I have to mention;

Overall Thoughts
I’m not normally one for short stories as I love to see characters and plots develop, but I adored this book. The writing is so beautiful and really describes things in detail, which is great for short stories. If you are someone who finds that issues such as suicide and abuse can be emotional triggers, maybe this book wouldn’t be for you. But if you want to get an insight into the issues that millions of people deal with, or even to help comfort you in the fact that you’re not the only one going through this. This is a great book for that. It’s extremely eye-opening.
Even though some stories can be dark at times, you also get enjoy the happy moments in these characters lives. I feel like there is a good balance between them.

I really enjoyed this book! My only complaint is that I became invested in each story and wish they were longer! Nunchi Goya is a talented writer and very descriptive and I very much so enjoyed this book. It gives you the cry and emotions you didn't know you needed to show.
