Rogue Dragons #4

Redeeming the Rejected

Rate this book
Years ago, Ford lost his clan, his mate, and maybe even himself. Now, he wants to be left in peace—until he meets Daphne, and she awakens passion in him unlike any he has ever experienced—even with his late wife.

Ford Coleman has been living a half-life since he avenged himself on his clan king after that monster killed his mate. He doesn’t know why he hasn’t lost his mind or burrowed into the hills, but for now, he’s minding his own business, working on his skills as a chef, and staying away from other dragon shifters, who might not appreciate a king-killer. He’s especially wary of the startup clan of renegade shifters who have taken up residence in his mountain town, even if he sympathizes with them. He’s considering looking for a new hideaway when Daphne, the sister of one of the new dragons, comes to town, and Ford finds himself yearning for her. He can’t have her, though. He had a mate once already, and besides, she belongs with her brother, with the local clan. After what he did, Ford knows he can never be accepted into a clan again. It’s hard to put aside everything he wants just when he’s starting to feel again, but he can’t let Daphne suffer for his past.

Daphne Albright needs a vacation, but what she gets is more work in a new location—her brother needs her to help his mate through the transition to becoming a shifter. Of course, Daphne wants to do it. That’s her job, and she’s good at it. But when she’s strangely attracted to the Uber driver she calls to pick her up at the airport, that’s all the excuse she needs to take a little time to herself. The driver runs from her, though, and she has to track him down. She tries to convince him that she’s not asking for a lifetime commitment, just a fling, but he doesn’t seem to believe her. She’s not even sure she believes herself. After all, despite the short time they’ve known each other, her heart breaks when she finds out he’s had a mate before. A relationship between them seems doomed from the start, but she can’t help wanting it anyway.

Like all Emilia Hartley’s books, Redeeming the Rejected is a steamy paranormal romance with a satisfying HEA. 4th in the Rogue Dragons series, it’s best when read with its companion books, but it can also stand on its own.

When Daphne arrives in town, she is stressed out. How can she help her brother’s mate when she can’t help herself? After meeting Ford in Bree’s story, I was hoping he would get a book of his own. The first meeting between them didn’t go very well at all, but they both feel the attraction drawing them closer. Can these damaged characters help each other find peace? Will Daphne and Ford be able to work together and help the pack when Zander turns up? I loved this story so much especially the confrontation between the clans. Great read.

Ford lost everything and now he just wants to be left alone until he meets Daphne. Sparks fly between them but Ford doesn’t understand because he already had and lost his mate. Can the still be together or is this relationship doomed from the start? Fast-paced dragon shifter read with lots of emotion, drama and steam. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

Twisted journey to love

This was quite an intense addition to the series, showcasing 2 characters that need a fair bit of healing and balance in order to move forward. Their journey was full of twists and self doubts and it made for some emotional reading moments. Have no fear, tho, it is a romance and love finds a way ;)

Ford is one complex dragon shifter and I felt for his pain. Seeing Daphne felt like fate however and I couldn't help but be glued to my screen waiting to see how their story was going to play out. It's sweet and sexy but with all the feels.

Daphne is Casey’s sister, (MC from trusting the betrayed) she a competent dragon shifter, and has helped many humans and shifters acclimatise to their dragons.
But she’s also tired, helping newbies took time and effort, and Daphne needs a break. But when her brother called and asked for her help, she couldn’t say no, so she’s sort of getting a vacation and visiting her brother.

Ford we met in the last book (Restoring the broken) he’s a chef for the local restaurant, he keeps to himself, he’s a rogue dragon, and technically anyone could kill him. He’s loved in this town for a while, and for rather worried when

Meeting for the first time, Daphne is in shock as Ford drives away from her!

No, no, no way is he getting involved with the new clan that’s just settled here! He might have sort of helped in the last battle, but all he wants is a quiet life, and getting involved with Gavin and his clan will only get him noticed, and once noticed they will find out who he really is!!

Daphne is not one for letting things go, and this dragon has her curious, she’s doesn’t want a mate, but the smell he gives off has her wanting maybe a little taste.

This book then goes on the usual journey of Daphne chasing Ford, Ford rejecting Daphne. Then when Ford tells Daphne of his past, it makes her stop and think.

The coming battle with Gavin’s father draws ever closer, and when he comes to visit Daphne, the dragons wonder will this be the day it starts?

So can Daphne make Ford see that he has a future? A future with her in it? And can Ford look away from his past and see Daphne as his future?

I liked Daphne, she was a strong independent woman. She’s an asset to her clan, but no one sees the woman, until Ford. I also liked how she went for things, changing her attitude toward her King took a lot of thought, it’s been her only family, but spending time with her brother has made her see things in a different light. But can she move to a new clan? That’s a big step. And Ford you just wanted to shake and cuddle, his previous mate died in an accident? He’s never really moved on from that, and the fact he took his clan leader on and killed him left Ford with the unwanted title of “King Killer” being alone has suited his mood, he thinks he deserves to be alone. When in fact until we hear his full story, we don’t know why he did the things he did!

Book four sees us almost at the end of our journey, so I’m hoping we get the fight we’ve been promised.
And here’s hoping Gavin finally catches his witch.

I received this book for an honest review and all thoughts are my own 🦋

Daphne is a dragon shifter that trains new dragon shifters how to be dragon’s. It is a hard and exhausting job. Her brother Casey asked her to change and train his mate, Elizabeth. She takes vacation time from her job with Zander’s clan. She is exhausted but can’t say no to her brother.

Ford is a dragon shifter that killed his clan’s leader because he caused the death of his wife. He has left the clan and has no interest in being in another clan and has made a life for himself as a loner with the humans. He is supposed to pick Daphne up at the airport, but as soon as he sees her he is afraid she is his mate (which he thinks is impossible because he thought his first wife was his mate) and drives off leaving her stranded. She is very mad and when she gets into town on her own, she tracks him down at the restaurant where he is working. Sparks fly!!

She goes out to her brother’s clan and settles in trying to dismiss Ford as a jerk. But she keeps finding excuses to go into town and irritate him. She is overworked trying to train Elizabeth and Bree, another new shifter. She is feeling sorry for herself and wanders into town to be alone. Ford finds her and they finally stop fighting long enough to get to know each other. The more Ford sees her the harder it is to resist her. Finally he gives up and they get together. In the mean time, Zander demands she return home. When she refuses he shows up trying to drag her back. Ford chases him off, but they know he will return with reinforcements. When the showdown comes, Ford bites off Zander’s arm defending Daphne. Zander retreats, hopefully never to return. Ford is still feeling scared that Daphne with stop loving him if he has to kill again, which he will to protect her. She finally convinces him that he hasn’t done anything wrong and he needs to forgive himself and move forward. She will never stop loving him, not matter what, because they are mates. This is another great book in the series. I am looking forward to Gavin’s story!

Daphne is a dragon shifter whose brother, Casey, asked her to help train his mate, Elizabeth, after she is changed. Daphne takes time off from her work in Zander’s clan to help her brother. Ford is a dragon shifter whose mate died because of his clan’s leader. Ford got his vengeance by killing the leader and has been on his own ever since. Ford is sent to pick Daphne up at the airport, but he believes that based on his reactions to her, she could be his mate, which should not be possible! He is compelled to drive away and leave her stranded!

Daphne is furious and follows his scent to the restaurant where he works. For some reason, she keeps going back, not able to stay away from the infuriating jerk. Ford and she finally try to get to know each other better and eventually he can no longer push her away. Zander in the meantime gets impatient and wants her to return. He tries to make her come with him but Ford protects her. Ford and Daphne finally admit that they are mates. Will they stay outside of the clan, or will they be accepted as a part of the clan so they have a real home?

I enjoyed this story and the characters. Every author has their own way of looking at shifters, and I love the little tidbits of information we learn, such as Daphne’s training the new dragons who have been changed over. It’s one of those “Fun Facts” we learn and add to our lexicon! Grab your copy and enjoy the story to see Daphne and Ford try to figure out how they could be mates.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and hoenst review.

In this book we meet Daphne Albright and Ford Coleman. Daphne has come at her brother Casey's request to help train his mate as a new dragon. When she arrives though she she knows that she just wants a break. She however is willing to do this for her brother. What she didn't plan on was when she got her ride share to get to his place the person that would arrive would make her dragon purr. The other thing she didn't plan on was him just taking off from her and leaving her at the airport. Ford isn't looking for a new clan or a new mate. He already lost one and is sure he won't survive the pain of that again. From the moment he smells her he knows there is more to this female than just another dragon. He isn't sure he can forgive himself for his past sins how can he expect others. When trouble comes like it has in the past of their small town will they work together as mates to drive it back or will it be the straw that broke them?

This is another amazing story in this series. Each can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading them in order so no secrets are revealed. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers I will say this book will have you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Daphne is Casey's younger sister. He's brought her to town to help his mate transition into a dragon shifter. Daphne is known to have incredible command over her inner beast, but maintaining that level of constant control is exhausting. When she runs into Ford, an self-exiled shifter, he becomes the perfect distraction from her frustrations. Ford is in hiding for a reason and the last thing he wants is be be dragged back into clan warfare. Too bad for him that Daphne is the most persistent woman he's ever met. Will he be able to deny the attraction between them?

Daphne is one of the most forward characters I've ever read. She knows exactly what she wants and has no hesitation about going after it. Ford lost the game before he even knew he was playing. He had solid reasons for wanting to stay away from her and her brother's clan, but as I'm sure all readers of this genre know, he was so much better off once he got out of his own way. He's such a softie under the surface (most of the time) and it's wonderful to see how Daphne brings it out of him. He's super good for her too.

I'm guessing that there's only one more book left in this series, but it should feature the pairing that I've been waiting on since the end of the first story. There's sure to be an epic conclusion!

Each book in this series just keeps getting better. The characters suck you so deep, you almost feel as if you are there with them. We met Ford briefly in the last book. He was so much more than I expected. He has secrets in his past, and he would like them to stay there. Any involvement he has with Gavin's Clan will threaten that. He has managed to keep his distance, until Daphne. He seems to be drawn to her like no other before. Not even his wife. But he doesn't think it is possible to have another mate, nor does he deserve one. Daphne has been talked about in previous books, she finally arrives. She has always been loyal to Zander. She has built a life with his clan helping new dragons. She has so much for others and nothing for herself. Now she's spending her 'vacation' not only training Bree, but also turning Evangeline. She wants Ford for herself, thinking she would just let off some steam. She couldn't have been more wrong. When Daphne and the Clan are threatened, Ford has to make a decision. Stay on the sidelines and keep his secrets. Or go all in and have his past revealed. The wrong choice and both he and Daphne will suffer. Another remarkable read or this author. This has been one helluva ride. Can't wait for Gavin and Nellie.

Oh good heavens, the author is killing me. With each book I think I've found my favourite couple and then the next book comes along and I throws it all out of wack again. We met met Ford briefly in the last book where we discovered discovered that he was running from something and wants nothing more than to be left alone. Daphne, Casey's sister, finally arrives in town to turn Evangeline and help her and Bree adjust to their dragons and train them but Daphne is exhausted. She is loyal to Zander but when she meets Ford and the two start spending time together she realises that her life might not be as rosy as she thought and soon discovers that she is little more than a tool for Zander but can she make a new family here? Ford lost his wife, the woman he thought was his mate, and as a result of what he did when that happened had to go on the run but as much as he tries to stay away from Daphne and stay out of the troubles of the new clan he is drawn to her in a way that he cannot explain. But Zander isn't willing to let an asset like Daphne go without a fight. Will Ford stand by and fight for her and the clan or will he run? The characters are all brilliantly crafted and the story was captivating.

Her alpha didn't value her as a person. Daphne Albright was only an asset for her clan. But for her there was nothing just duty, tiredness and loneliness, not what she wanted. When her brother called her to help with his mate, Daphne did not hesitate, accustomed to giving her best for the welfare of others. Ford Coleman, still brooding over his past, did not want to get involved with Gavin's clan but that bold, strong, daring and independent woman had him confused. He couldn't stop thinking about her and feeling an attraction that couldn't be possible. Daphne's attraction to Ford had her fighting with everything she had to break down the barriers the stubborn man had erected around him. Pushy is not enough to say, according to Ford. She was a force to be reckoned. The woman leaned forward, and the man leaned back. Amusing and at the same time exasperating game. Zander didn't want to lose "his star shifter" and was using force since the threats weren't working. With his indecision and the war with Zander on top of it, Ford's position was unclear. I liked the character of Daphne. She had an enviable strength, self-confident, passion and skills. Ford protectiveness was serious and had him considering his choices. Daphne didn’t disappoint me. Action, suspense, violence, romance and passion.

I very much enjoyed this book, I love all the characters from the previous books coming together in this one. Daphne leaves her clan with Zander to come help her brother Casey turn his mate Evangeline into a dragon shifter and to meet all of Gavin’s other clan members but what she never expected was she would find her mate at the same time while helping out, but Ford the grumpy restaurant chef that’s taken by this gorgeous woman doesn’t want a mate because he has already had one before and she died at the hands of his old clan leader and the one that he killed because it, so now an outcast and a king killer as he is named now doesn’t want any troubles or problems with the other shifters in town, but dam he cannot stay focused she invades his mind and body. Daphne just wants Ford anyway she can get him even if it’s just on night end of story but with Zander breathing down her neck and causing problems can she bring this much trouble to his door or her brothers as well. Can she stand up to Zander and fight for her future and her mate or does it end badly.

I liked the chemistry between Ford and Daphne. There was a real push-pull between them. I was a little confused when it came to the interactions between Daphne and her brother Casey. I felt like they more strangers than family, there was a real disconnect between them. I also never understood why Daphne needed to be the one to change Evangeline. I understood why she was there to train her, but not why she was the one to change her. We had met Ford briefly in the previous book, so it was good to get more of his back story. I could understand why Ford was so reluctant to get involved with Daphne and the new clan given his background. I thought his struggle with his pull to Daphne was believable. I thought the resolution was good, but I'm not sure how I felt about the overall mate issue in the story.

I kind of wish there was a bit more information about how all of the clans interact, it seems that each clan is completely on its own with no over-arcing authority. I'm really looking forward to reading Gavin's book.

Redeeming the Rejected, Rogue Dragons, Book 4

I loved this book, slightly different to the previous books in the series, but equally as enjoyable.
Casey's sister Daphne has joined her brother to help with Evangeline's change, her ride share driver takes one sniff of her and drives off leaving her at the airport!
Daphne is exhausted from her work helping new shifters in Zander's clan and is curious about the dragon who sped away from her. So taken with the man she practically stalks him.
The driver was Ford, a clanless dragon working as a chef in the small mountain town, doing his best to maintain a low profile and avoid the attention of others of his kind.
Both Daphne and Ford are denying themselves the life they deserve, living in a way that is detrimental to their own happiness, each can help the other to overcome the difficulties they have endured.
Thoroughly recommend this and previous books in this Rogue Dragons series.
Can't wait for the next one in the series.

A highly enjoyable story I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout and the author. This story is about Daphne Albright, dragon shifter, who arrived in town to help her brother's mate, Evangeline, during her change and Ford Coleman, dragon shifter, who is avoiding the local clan. Daphne is at the airport texting for a car to share a ride, when the car arrives the driver has a passenger which sparks her interest. Ford the passenger wants no involvement with the clan or the pretty women shifter so he tells the driver to go. Daphne stops at a restaurant and she smells Ford who works as a cook. Daphne confronts Ford asking why he left her at the airport. Ford leaves her again and she calls Casey her brother to pick her up. After talking with Evangeline and the others, she returns to the restaurant to see Ford who she's drawn to. Will they give in to their desires? This story has angst, drama and romance in a well written story of two dragon shifters struggling with their personal issues. I recommend this story the fourth in this highly enjoyable series.

This is the fourth book in this series and like the previous stories, it is full of colorful, charismatic characters who are mired in their own angst, learning to work as a cohesive unit, and finding their footing with their mates. Ford is an outcast dragon just trying to keep his head down and his dragon under control. Exiled from his former clan he using his knife skills in the kitchen to work off his dragon's excess energy. Daphne has come to help her brother Casey's new mate make the transformation and to train the two new dragons of the clan. For her, it is a working vacation as her job is to help with the dragons that her alpha, Zander, is adding all the time; and she is burnt out. These two connect with sparks. When Zander tries to force Daphne to come home she finally sees why this band of misfits, malcontents, and outcasts are all about. This is an excellent addition to the series. A good continuation of the story of rogue/misfit dragons and the impending war which is one step closer. There are a lot of confused feelings and inner struggles in this story, danger, threats, some skirmishes, two newcomers, heated passion, and a great group of people who are getting closer and becoming a family.
Ford is settling into his new life and has chosen to be alone, he wants nothing to do with the new clan. While Daphne is a strong woman, she is also fairly vulnerable. There is a definite attraction between them but they have so much baggage to muddle through before accepting love and a chance for HEA.
The relationship between Ford and Daphne is a struggle throughout this story with doubts popping up right until the end and while it is known they are a couple, I would have liked them to feel a little more connected.

The Clan Gets Bigger & Better!!

Dragon-shifter Daphne’s job is to assist new dragons adapt. When her brother Casey calls to assist his new mate, she comes – even though she belongs to the clan her brother has left and is currently at war with. She is feeling tired and overworked.

Dragon-shifter Ford lives in town, and stays away from this new clan. He has his reasons – and they probably would spurn him if they knew his history. He was married to a human earlier, and knows no one gets two mates. But there is something about that Daphne who is visiting.

Each time I read a story in this series I’m so pleased with the originality of the situation of the highlighted couple, and end with a great feeling or enjoyment and satisfaction. The clan is really coming together now, and the journey of all of them makes this series especially excellent.

REDEAMING THE REJECTED is the third installment to the Rogue Dragons series by Emilia Hartley.  The characters were easy to get to know and the story a simple one with the usual bad and good guys, damsels to save and to save you.

Ford Coleman is known as the King Killer.  His shame is destroying his clan. He alone and hiding, He knows he will never be accepted anywhere when they find out he's the King Killer

Daphne has come to this small backward town help her brother and his mate. The ride share driver drives up and takes one look at her and takes off leaving her standing there, what the ... .  Now he has piqued her interest and she will find out the why.

Get ready for some exciting events and mysterious dragons. You'll also find Gaven still trying to find the local witch.

You can read this book as a standalone, but you'll enjoy it more reading the series in order.

Love this story. Daphne has a great job and that's helping train new shifters on how to be a dragon. She's in town helping her brother Casey change and train his mate, Elizabeth. She vacations every once in a while with the Zander's Clan. Ford is a dragon shifter without a clan since he killed his king when the king caused the death of his mate. He has become a loner and has no plans to join a clan. I love how he was suppose to pick up Daphne at the airport but gets spooked when he sees her and knows that she's his mate. Daphne is ticked and when she tracks him down sparks fly. Love how these two get together and Ford is not a push over when it comes to his mate Daphne. Can't wait to read Gavin's story. This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Redeeming the Rejected by Emilia Hartley is the fourth book in the Rogue Dragons series. I love this series! Emilia Hartley has long been a go to author for feel good reads that pack a punch. Immersive worlds and characters that leap off pages are her specialty. This series just grabs you and throws you down in a chair only to be kept captivated by the story. Each book ratchets up the drama and sexiness with the knowledge that it is leading you to... (Well that would be telling!) This is a Mature Readers Only read that has so much love and emotion packed into it. You can't help but giggle and gasp! Ford and Daphne will have you alternately gritting your teeth and fanning your face!

This honest and voluntary review was made possible by reading a copy through Booksprout.

The real meaning of being strong!

In this fourth book, Daphne and Ford tackled their strength and responsibilities. Daphne felt overwhelmed by the imposed jobs she might assume, and Ford seemed unworthy of the good things he had now. However, they built trust with each other during this plot, and through love, they realized what is the real meaning of being strong, together, as one being.

Again, Emilia Hartley keeps this series up with two startling, strong, and well-structured characters, strangers at first, that build trust, friendship, and love together, within a fable plot full of hidden sweetness, open defiance, complex and mixed feelings, passion, and romance. This book pulls you in and never lets you go until the end. I cannot wait for the next chapter of this series!

Wow! Just keeps getting better and better. Each mate completes the other. The harder they fight the harder they fall. Full of surprises, suspense, drama, danger, and passion. Their emotions jump off the page and right into your heart! He runs she chases, he can’t have her, he has loved and lost never again. Yet when danger stalks her he is there to protect her, but who will protect him when the truth comes out. Trust is hard, love is harder, yet he refuses to let evil claim her, she is his. What has he done? Will she still love him when she learns the truth? Will the clan accept him? Tired in running, he cannot deny it any longer she belongs to him, come hell or high water, he will fight for his. He will protect her or die trying! Mine he roars!

Ford was introduced in the last book as a lone dragon and here he meets Casey's sister, Daphne. Daphne was briefly mentioned in the previous book and the clan has been waiting for her to get there to help Bree and Evangeline. Daphne has worked hard for Zander by helping the new shifters deal with their dragons once he has changed them. As an integral part of Zander's clan, he was not going to let her go. Ford and Daphne were both damaged souls who after a lot of back and forth were able to start healing each other. Parts of the book were difficult for the characters and parts were really sad before we got to the HEA. The story kept my attention throughout and I am looking forward to Gavin and Nellie's book.

Daphne Albright is a dragon shifter and her speciality is helping people recently turned to control their dragion and her brother has called her ot help with his new mate. She is instantly attracted to the uber driver that picks her up at the airport but he is basically running from, her What she doesn't know is that Ford Coleman is a dragon shifter who killed his own king admittedly it was after said king killed his mate and he is living a half life expecting to go crazy any moment. Can she get him to let her in and can they have a future You will have to read to see

This is book #4 of the Rogue Dragon series. I am hoping this series never ends because I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the characters and their pasts that make them what they are today. Ford has been a dragon shifter but has been hiding as a cook because of something from his past. Ford starts feeling things he thinks he shouldn't for Daphne a dragon shifter. Daphne is in town too help Evangeline shift to her dragon and to continue to help Bree as her dragon. Ford is a good man but doesn't realize that he is and that he can find happiness for the second time in his life. Daphne is a strong woman and also knows what she wants but will she be able to have it in the end? Enjoy Ford and Daphne as they try to define their relationship. Oh, and Ford is a ginger🔥

Ford has kept away from the other dragons because he doesn't want to be part of the clan, he has a secret which makes him feel that he should be unloved, he meets Daphne and his thoughts and dragon are completely unravelling.
Daphne has come to help Evangeline change and Bree to learn how to be a dragon. She meets Ford and has instant feelings, she doesn't know if he's her mate or not. Zander is hassling her to get back and has sent someone to spy on her.
There follows another great read in the series, catching up on the others in the clan and moving the battle along.
So is this end of the series or will Zander be back?!

The clan keeps growing!

Casey's sister, Daphne, has come to town to help with Evangeline and Bree's new dragons. She never dreamed she would meet a dragon that would cause hers to act unpredictable. Ford is the lone dragon we met in the last book that lives in town. Events from his past have left him broken and in pain. Daphne wants to change that despite his reluctance. However, Zander is still trying to make trouble for Gavin and the clan. The characters are well rounded (for misfits) and very different. They are growing in character and forming this wonderful family more with each book. I am so looking forward to Gavin meeting his witch. That one will be epic! I requested a free advanced readers copy from Booksprout and this review is of my own free will.
