I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.

I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.

I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.

Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.

I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.

Our heroine Millie needs a good divorce lawyer to help her mother. Our hero Hunter is a charming and handsome lawyer but he is also a playboy and a typical alpha hero. He decides to help Millie and her mother for free. He and Millie spend some time together and they fall in love but hero is in denial and he almost loses her.

Very well written and passionate book. Hero is a cynic but he has a soft side. He cares so deeply for his younger disabled sister and the way he loves and protects her melted my heart! Millie was engaged to her high-school sweetheart but he died of cancer and she feels guilty because she never truly loved him.

Totally safe book: hero and heroine had a date a few months before the book starts and hero is celibate ever since but he used to be a playboy. Heroine is not a virgin, she was engaged. No cheating, no other man or other woman drama.

Usually an epilogue without kids doesn't cut it for me but their HEA was super sweet! At least they start planning for those kids lol

I struggled a bit with this book. I didn't care much for the Hero. There was a sweetness missing that the Hero in the previous book had in spades. This Hero was not as kind or caring and cold. Of course he made a huge turn around in the last 10%.

It took past the 50% mark for the story to pick up the pace. I was also disappointed that we didn't learn how the heroine's mother's lawsuit came out. I was hoping that the suspense of her financial fraud case would have had a conclusion.

Super sweet story of two kind and generous characters.

I know, right? What am I doing reading about worthy characters?

Thankfully, to make up for the lack of crazy, MM actually wrote interesting scenes with actual dialogue and actions. No flashbacks, no navel gazing, no psychoanalysis. Our H/h tell their own stories *to each other.* They observe what each of them is going through with a vulnerable relative.

For instance, the lawyer hero watches heroine protect her dyslectic mother as they discuss her divorce. Then hero agrees to take the case pro bono.

After a night of hot sex, heroine goes *with* the hero when he is called to his sister’s side. She sees with her own eyes what he is dealing with.

This is how it’s done, authors. Showing and not telling makes for an interesting story even if the characters are frightfully normal.

Oh, and those playboy rules? Don’t get married or fall in love. Broken by the end of the story for an HEA.

This book was surprisingly good! I hardly ever read a HP with an English or American hero, purely out of personal choice, so I was a bit sceptical going in. I loved this! Beautiful story of two people with challenging childhoods, yet they both made a life for themselves. This story shows that love will persevere, even if you didn't know that you wanted or needed it. The story was passionate and also sweet. Lovely!

Melanie Milburne knows how to write characters that are easy to get to know, she pulls at your heartstrings as we journey to a HEA that is sensual, emotional and a sigh worthy journey. This time we are in London and top shot divorce lawyer Hunter and jewelry designer Millie fall head over heels for each other even if it was the last thing they wanted, but love always wins through.

Millie has been through a lot and after her fiancé passes away three days before they marry and she carries guilt and a secret and finding love and happiness is something that she is not looking for, but when she needs the services of a divorce lawyer for her mother Addison is the one she needs and maybe in more ways than she thought when her body tells her that Addison maybe the man to lose her heart to.

Addison decided a long time ago that love was not for him he has a sister to look after and a business to run so short term flings is what he looks for that is until Millie walks into his life and he is feeling things that he has never felt before, maybe a weekend in Greece might be just the thing to get her out of his system but she has gotten under his skin and seems to be here to stay.

I did love this story Addison and Millie are both such caring, loving and beautiful people and they really do deserve each other and the love they find, so out of the blue will carry them into the future. This story is beautifully written with emotion and feeling and such a sensual and passionate journey, one that I highly recommend.

First half rating - 2 Stars
Second half - 4 Stars
Overall rating - 3 Stars

I enjoyed this book. The first half was slow and drawn out but the second half picked up the pace.

Hero was previously a well known Playboy but was never with anyone after he met the heroine. He was extremely wealthy and believed love only brought pain. So no love marriage or a family for him.

Heroine was not a virgin but had only been with one boy/man. She didn't love him but refused to leave him because he was dying of brain cancer. They were childhood friends and lived close. Then they began dating. She was ready to break it off but before that could happen he was diagnosed so she stayed. Their sex life was unfulfiling and he was too ill and sick for anything but a quicky.

I recommend this book as well as the first one.

Melanie Milburne has done it again. Another great read called "Breaking the Playboy's Rules" and it is the 2nd book in the 'Wanted: A Billionaire" series. Millie has been keeping a secret from her friends, and she is still wearing the engagement ring from her deceased fiance. Hunter has also been keeping a secret of his own, and that is why he refuses to have a long term committed relationship with a woman. These two find themselves drawn to each other, and their chemistry is off the chart.

BREAKING THE PLAYBOY’S RULES by author Melanie Milburne is a January 2021 release by Harlequin Presents series.
Hunter has a fling with Millie but can he let her go? He doesn’t want to. And what about Millie?

BREAKING THE PLAYBOY’S RULES is an emotional romance. At times fun, at times emotional. Author Melanie Milburne brought this story to life on the pages. Hunter and Millie both have emotional baggage, and it was hard to see them reaching their happy ever after.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

Take a hot shot divorce attorney Hunter who has no interest in ever being in love. Add Millie who has been wearing the engagement ring of her late fianc'e for 3 years and you have a fantastic story by Ms. Milburne. Hunter has a sister that a rare genetic disorder and has to take care of her so he has closed off his heart to love. Friends planned a blind date for them that did not work out but Millie wants to see him again to help her mother with her divorce as the man is taking things from her. What happens is a fantastic story of these two people that find that no matter how much you think you can plan your future love has different ideas.

4 1/2 STARS!

An undeniable attraction! With the second book in her Wanted: A Billionaire series Melanie Milburne brings a fumbled blind date back to life in BREAKING THE PLAYBOY'S RULES. The characters each have a back story that is emotional and compelling. I enjoyed watching them fall for each other very much.

Millie is the epitome of a good girl who lets her conscious lead her in her decision making more than maybe she should. Life hasn't been easy, but it's led her to be self-sufficient.

Hunter is a sweetheart. He comes across as brash and self-deserving at first, but he's got a heart of gold and a loyalty to be matched by no other.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an unexpected connection that leads to a highly deserved romance.

Breaking the Playboy’s Rules by Melanie Milburne is a beautiful read. It’s filled with sparks that fly from the first page; passion that leaps off the pages; characters I liked from the moment I met them and a great, solid plot which kept things running smoothly.

Millie and Hunter have a disastrous first blind date but Millie needs Hunter’s urgent help. He’s the best divorce lawyer in town and Millie feels he’s the only one who can help her mother from being swindled again. Inviting him out for a drink sparks fly again but this time they’re both in the right head space to question the sparks. With Millie fighting the loosing internal battle of not knowing when the right time is to let her dead fiancée go and with Hunter being a completely closed book about his huge family commitments; there’s multitudes of drama to help pull this beautiful story together.

Millie is delightful and instead of repelling Hunter with her “I don’t want you” attitude, he accepts it as a challenge because despite her (seemingly) disinterest, he is very interested. His charm and good looks do cause Millie to question what she is missing out on and lets her guard down.

Hunter is a closed book and isn’t open to any suggestions once Millie is shocked into finding out the truth. He’s private and protective and doesn’t want anyone crossing the barriers of personal and private life and stipulates his rules of a fling which at the time Millie is happy to accept. Despite his rules he’s a really good guy and Melanie Milburne does a superb job of writing his character.

I’m noticing the number of stories I'm reading lately without Epilogues... I’ve always enjoyed them and hope it’s a short-lived trend.

Dedicated to the frontline medical workers during Covid 19 pandemic, Breaking the Playboy’s Rules touches on the importance and the fine job health care workers provide and really added to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, it had everything I love in a story; passion, sparks, likeable characters; fast flowing plot; minus the angst and this story didn’t need it, it was brilliant without it. There is also just right amount of mix with the flat mates who are the heroines of this series.

Thank you Melanie Milburne, a delightful read which I loved.

Breaking the Playboy’s Rules by Melanie Milburn. Millie’s fiancé died days before their wedding and she is still wearing his engagement ring but she is hiding a secret from everyone. Hunter will not make a commitment to a relationship due to his families circumstances. Millie and Hunter are set up on a date by friends that is a disaster. Millie must swallow her pride and as Hunter to help with her mothers divorce. From the start on their second meeting the sparks start to fly. Can Millie stick to the terms of their fling or will Hunter finally commit. A great read.

Hunter Addison was a divorce lawyer and he’s the best. He us good-looking, rich and sophisticated. Millie Donnelly-Clarke had been on a blind date with him once. It was a disaster. Now she needs his help with her mother’s divorce. Her mother is once again being swindled. Once again, they feel the chemistry and it’s off the charts. Millie feels guilty because her fiancé, Jillian has passed away. But Hunter likes a challenge. The more time they spend together, it’s harder to ignore. Will Millie let the guilt of her ex fiancé come between them? Will Hunter find out her mother’s secret? Will they walk away from each other or will they see where the atttaction leads? Love this story. A five star book. A must read.

I didn't like it, the connection didn't feel that authentic. Even though I know the heroine wasn't manipulative her actions and questions towards hero did feel like she was presenting as the perfect woman and it felt fake. She said all the right things that he wanted to hear but wasn't actually how she felt. The hero came across as a scared little boy, I didn't like him. Np.
