Pixel Dust #2

Pyramid Game

Rate this book
Overpowered villains. Higher stakes. A pyramid of lies.

A year has passed since the events that nearly brought the game, Carpe Notcem, crashing down. Now, just as things are beginning to get back to normal, a new threat emerges.

When an unkillable player attempts to take over the virtual world, Max and Kira are called in to take him down. To win, the party will have to form their own house, infiltrate a tropical palace, pull off an elaborate heist, and maybe do a little dancing.

With enemies old and new lurking around every corner, it will take every bit of teamwork and creativity the party has to get away clean. Because in this game of PVP, their lives may depend on it.

I have some issues with the representation in this book, but I believe it’s well intentioned.

Good heist book and lots of character development.

I loved this book so much and I seriously don't know why it took me so long, almost 2 years since I read Party Hard which I loved too pieces! Seriously there's no excuse!
Pyramid Game takes place just a year after the events in Party Hard. The gaming company has made good with their fan-base and the MC's Max and Kirabell and team are now tight friends! They get together to celebrate the anniversary of that mission and to plot out their next big caper! It's a doozy, as it's a Heist!
If anybody knows me, they know that I love a good heist! A well executed plan and the edge-of-your-seat kinda tension that sends shivers down my spine! Only, if you've met Max and Kirabell you know that the term 'Well Executed' isn't in they're vocabulary, and things are gonna get messy, especially when the FBI gets involved and another gamer wants to cut themselves in on the loot!
Travis Baldree as always is amazing!
So grab the book and join the game! Better yet grab Pixel Dust the 3vol set also available on Audible and save yourself some credits!

4.5 stars: this was a fantastic sequel to the first book in the series. I still feel compelled by the plot and the character archs and I enjoyed the progression that was made in this novel. The series has a wonderful contrast between humor and serious topics that I absolutely adore. And I am so in love with the queer romance in this book! It’s so nice to see queer representation in LitRPGs. Can’t wait to read the next book!

Pyramid Scheme

Well the books have gotten deeper into gender and sexual identity, which was a surprise because I didn't read any previews. This is a good surprise as I like the characters and the author did a good job of mixing in the adventure parts with the character development.

Wow...

Didnt expect this book to be better than the first but it was. I loved the entire set up, the world building and the interactions. What sold me was how thought out everything was. I love all the characters and its almost like I'm watching a live stream. The ending was great because it teases want is to come and now House Lockheart are infamous

This has turned into one of the better series I've read. The narrator change was whack af at first, but like anything else of quality, I got used to the performance quick. Really good, really fun stuff. 👍🏽👍🏽

Excellent!

Non-stop action (even if there isn't that much fight, which is a good thing for me as it can be tedious rapidly), well written, a good pace that keeps you riveting to your chair and wanting to turn the pages faster!

Another great book. I personally found that it bogged down a bit in the workup to the heist, but the rest was so good that I can't hold that against it (too much). I have the third book on-deck so we'll see if the quality keeps up.

I’m truly loving this series. I love the characters that have carried over from book 1 and their expansion. As well as the introduction of new characters.
I would love to see this brought to life in a live action TV series.

Ridiculously good

If you’ve read the first book, this is that x10. Notching everything higher and leading you as a reader through an amazing blend of fantasy and real world.

One hell of a ride

First of all, what an awesome cover.

This was an extremely enjoyable book although it plays very differently than the previous one. Gone are the dungeon crawls and we're left in the middle of a Ocean's Eleven script.

Awesome characters that continue to grow and develop independently of the main plot, a mysterious overall arc that peeks through here and there and a great balance of action and exposition.

Great read.

Classic heist as LitRPG

It took me a while to remember what had happened in the first book with these characters, but with the reminders peppered through the story, that pictured firmed up. And this one was a fun ride through heist territory, including the obligatory mob references and love story.

But now I wonder what happens next. Always leave them wanting more.

Book two of a fun series - I like that each one can really stand alone. In this one, the pacing was more even - still a little iffy on the romance-aspects but all-in-all, good stuff. Looking forwards to the next installment.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed this very much, good connection to characters and a massive wait until next book ending. A must read for indie writer lovers.
