To create a new world, everything in the old one must die. Rhona Long is no one’s commander anymore. Out in the cold after a rescue mission gone wrong, Rhona moves forward with her own desperate strategy to stop the machines—only now she must do it without the resources of McKinley base, currently occupied by a hostile power. But when Rhona encounters a group of machine reformers and learns a devastating truth about the higher echelon’s endgame, she must decide whether to finish what her predecessor started by destroying the brilliant artificial life controlling the machines—or do the unthinkable by saving it. Join ex-commander Rhona Long as she faces off against the machines and their malicious A.I. overlord to decide humanity’s fate in this epic conclusion to the Last Resistance Series.

At last! The series is completed. What a relief (to me, and probably to the author as well!). I read the first couple of books when they first came out, and the only non-positive comment I made is that the series didn't appear to be finished. Now they have been re-released, and here is the final book!
After all that, I really enjoyed reading this book. I had to remind myself of what came before, but that was easily done, and it wasn't too hard to get back into the story. I loved the slight complexity of the different 'characters', and was fascinated to hear what became of them. It was a different take on 'the machines take over' to that explored in other novels, and I did find the inclusion of Glasgow to be inspired as well as necessary! And so nice to find the story arc of Dopey ending so satisfactorily.
Now that readers are able to go through all three books in the series, and have a complete story, I do not hesitate to recommend this series to anyone interested. To those who, like me, had previously read the first two books - here's your chance to finish the story - you won't be disappointed!

Fast-paced satisfying end to this trilogy

I'm very glad this third installment was published and brings a satisfying conclusion to Rhona's story. The worldbuilding rises to another level in the war of machines vs humanity, twisting to remind us its not always so simple, and neither are the ways we live our own lives. What version of ourselves do we live out with friends, lovers, others? This third installment takes the reader to a deeper level of questioning what it means to be human. I loved it.

Best Of Three!!!

I have had this so long in my library, scared to start it because I didn't want it to end! I've grown so attached to the characters (Samuel most of all!) and I finally sat down and told myself it's now or never.

Finished in 24 hours! It was literally that good I just couldn't put it down!

AI: Good or not?

Rhona is a clone, Dopey is a machine clone of Rhona. Together they save mankind from an evil AI. SUPERB!

Great ending! Instead of a lot of books which finish in blood and guts and don’t have a lot of thought, this book delivers a more thoughtful conclusion with realistic, fun characters.
