New York City's Seventh Avenue is the backbone for this half novel. Unfortunately McCoy breaks the story of a budding romance just as it begins to be underway, leading to the second book in this series.
Three points of view, albeit Robert only "speaks" at the start. A small town boy who found his Daddy, his best friend, another small towner, is Sky, a design school student with fashion aspirations. Sky designs a women's line to show to Jillian, a men's fashion mogul, and the third voice. McCoy describes both the rundown life of a struggling student and the penthouse based party life of the high roller. Supporting characters Stan, a small towner hussling his own business with tech help from Robert, and Kyla, a top model and Jillian's husband, bring in more of the sexual elements of New York life.
At 163 pages, it could have been Part I, allowing me and other readers to better appreciate his creativity. My strong dislike for cliffhangers knocks off a fifth star for a well written and clever story, albeit garroted.
