Jock Blocked

Rate this book
Trina

They say, a goal without a plan is just a wish.
So I don’t take chances with mine.
I’ve got my future planned down to the month—and nothing or nobody is going to screw it up. Finish my senior year, then my PhD, and then it’s on to teaching just like my grandmother.
There isn’t a single roadblock in my way… until he shows up at my tutoring center.
Carter Jenkins.
Football star.
Arrogant Jock.
All around brutal bastard.
He may be everyone else’s favorite quarterback—but to me, he’s just the dick that ruined a naïve girl’s first days in college.
And now here is he, with his smug face and penetrating eyes, demanding my help.
Yeah right.
I’ve heard the stories. He’s going all the way to the NFL, so long as he’s not put on academic probation for failing classes.
Which is where I’m supposed to come in.
And if it wasn’t for my boss/secret crush pleading with me to take Carter on, I’d drop him like a bad habit.
So reluctantly, I agree.
I’ll do this favor and help the guy I really can’t stand, for the guy I really want to be with.
It should be no sweat…because I hate football players.
And no matter how much time Carter and I spend together, or how different he may seem, there’s no way in hell I’d ever fall for one…

From Bestselling author Shae Sullivan comes a new, deliciously tension filled enemies to lovers sports romance about the quarterback who has it all and the girl who refuses to fall for him. Standalone romance. HEA.

The idea is good, but the book is written too much just as "let me tell you how it happened" sort of way and less of a "showing you what went down" sort of way. It just didn't let me really get immersed in the story.

Cute story. It starts with Trina, a senior student at UConn and tutor for math. She is studying to become a teacher for math and dispises football players due to incidents during freshman year. She refuses to tutor any football players until she is placed with one. She has no choice but to take him on as she is the only tutor qualified and she needs it for her resume as she takes her teaching seriously.
Carter is the quarterback for the school's team and straight A student. He doesn't need a tutor but due to coach's insistence that all players on the team get tutoring he has no choice. He doesn't want the help of his tutor, especially one that doesn't like him, but she tells him that if he doesnt let her help she won't sign off on their sessions. He lets her help him and is amazed to find that her methods make the math easier and more understandable. The more time they spend together the more they begin to learn about and like each other and it isn't long before they start dating. When Trina finds out that Carter is about to be drafted early for the NFL in Florida she breaks up the relationship as she wants to stay in Connecticut close to her family. But after having conversations with her mom she realises she loves and wants to be with Carter and is willing to make it work wherever he goes for the NFL. Carter loves her too and they go on to live their H.E.A.
This story was really sweet and I enjoyed how Trina goes out of her way to make math more enjoyable and easier to understand for her students. Also liked how the story was written with dual P.O.V.

This was an amazing story to listen to. I love Rodney's voice. I felt like I was in the story right there with Trina and Carter. These two were amazing characters as they are navigating through this hard world called college.

Trina is a tutor and she loves her job. She takes teaching seriously and wants nothing more than to help others out accept for football players. She refuses to help them out. Then she is paired with a football player not just anyone but Carter the star Quarterback and she refuses to help him until she is told she will not get the credits she needs to graduate.

This is a enemies to lovers story and I loved how it ended. So go on out and one click this bad boy on audible and listen to this amazing story!

I liked the Trina and Carter and the "build up" in their relationship. Until she revealed what he did that upset her so much freshman year. I expected his transgression to be much worse than it was. Their date when she finally agreed to go out with him was great as well until they go back to his apartment. Her sudden shift was jarring. And then things just moved to fast. Major "insta-love" to the extreme. This book is only 184ish pages long. I feel like it was rushed and it really could've been expanded. I liked the story in general but I think it could've been much better. I have really enjoyed other books by this author.

I have a ton of TBR this week so I am going to call it. Flat lined for me.
Neither character is horrible though I find the Leading Lady completely unrealistic. She goes from level headed bookworm to hating everyone who plays football due having an issue with 2 guys on the football team her Freshman year. People do realize a football team has an average of 85-125 layers on the roster right? 2 out of 125 people do something and you hate them all? Smart... real smart.
I understand what the author was trying to do but I felt like it was a bit over exaggerated.

An enemy to lovers sports romance. Trina is the tutor, Carter is the star quarterback, with aspirations of going to the NFL.
Trina has a grudge against him since the first year of college. She reluctantly takes the tutoring job to help Carter in the advance mathematics class he needs to pass. She was surprised, by him being a jock , why he would be taking that high level of a class. Once they get over their differences and communicate, their relationship blossoms.
Rodney Falcon narration makes this a wonderful listen. I was gifted this audio znxpd offered my hones review

this book had awful transitions omg, the awkward and blocky way the sentences were structured also did the help.

couldn’t get into the flow of reading because of the writing style/structure

also i did not like trina at all - carter was always apologizing for shit but she never did?

i like the direction of carters personality- if this book was written better it would’ve definitely been a good change from all the other sports romance

1 more thing: the reason why trina hated carter & that whole scene was so stupid.. and blah

Ehh...

While I would not say it was the worst book I've Read, it is amongst the bottom. You know in books some obstacles are good for the tension and excitment and building of characters. These were the silliest I've ever read. Figment of imagination. God I sound harsh. The book was a nice length, the ending was semi good, the evolvment of the characters made me hate them less....

What a shame.

The story itself is good. It’s reasonably well plotted, and has some entertaining moments.
Sadly, the writing was generally naive. Much of the narrative was immature, as were many of the interactions.
Interlaced within all this were many contradictions regarding Trina and Carter.
So while I liked the story in general, it was let down by the poor writing.
Read if you must.

Really?

I'm sorry but Trina is an idiot! Really she really over reacted to the supposed comment that made her hate the football team. I just couldn't with that girl. She was super annoying. Plus why look at people funny because they don't want to stay in one place their whole likf like you. Idf this book. Carterand Jamie were the only characters who carried this book for me.

A great sports romance!💜

This was a fantastic storyline where sexy tutor meets the hot football player. She hates him, he’s doesn’t want to be tutored. Their chemistry is undeniably on fire. Great story, great characters. The narration was perfect for these characters.
I recommend this book.

Those grudges run deep...

⭐️⭐️.5/5
Soooo much potential..... Trina is by far the biggest drama Queen and exaggerator I feel I’ve come across so far!! The comment reveal was extremely anticlimactic.
I liked Carter’s character....a typical jock that’s not so typical....he was..nice? And smart. And sensible. An odd pairing but it works, even though he deserves better.

Don't bother

I have up reading 37% through the book. I kept reading in the hope the dialogue and content would improve. I can't say I like how the authors style of written is. It's not personal or gripping. Just boring.

All I can say is it was okay

It went from hating him to madly in love with him way to quick . I don’t feel like there’s enough connection with the two main characters she writes that they are the best for each other but you can feel it . Its very cut and dry

A fun football/college romance that brings enemies closer! These two are so stubborn and yet they find their way together quite quickly. It was so fun watching them find their way to a perfect ending.

Dual perspective, his and hers. She is a stick in the mud, not really, but she is set in her ways and has no desire to change them (even hangs up on her mom.) He knows what he wants but is a flexible person. Two steamy scenes. Parts of the book get longwinded, but it was a good, quick read.

I enjoyed the story but it felt rushed and some things were told/explained in an after-the-fact way. It kept me from connecting with the characters.

Not very gripping. Very lacking in characters connection. Just fell flat. This was my first book by this author but I’m going to not waist my time with any more.

I loved the audio for this book the voice was easy to listen to and enjoy.

Great read but…..

Absolutely loved this story. My only problem is all the typos and grammar errors. I kept having to change the words around to make the sentences actually work.
