Hindsight’s a Witch and I should have seen it coming.
I won my team’s respect, but I haven’t won their trust. If we want out of this prison, we’re going to have to fight like hell, and catch the most dangerous escaped supernatural to earn enough points for our freedom. But my men have dark secrets that could lock us away for good. Secrets we can’t keep forever. One day they’re going to come back and haunt us. And today's that day. I should never have given my heart to four criminals. Never.
Hindsight's A Witch is book 2 in the Guild of Guardians series, a supernatural prison academy reverse harem with plenty of action, swoon-worthy men, and a feisty, sassy heroine determined to end up on top. For fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Cassandra Clare's Shadow Hunters.
Hindsight's A Witch is book two and I love that it picks up where book one left off. Astra is struggling with her injuries, flare up of an old pain from a previous accident in her teen years and now...keeping secrets of one of the guys. But she's just not keeping someone's secrets...she's keeping her own from the guys. Her first appeal fell through, but she's not giving up. She enjoys her time with the guys but she wants out. Her relationships are developing, but she's not fully willing to stay locked up when she could be free. I like that this story is a bit more focused (most of the time) and that we get some progress here and there. Tor is dealing with his problems created by Knoxe confiscating his goods and now his suppliers are coming looking for him. Pascal is coming out of his shell and beginning to reach out more towards Astra. Knoxe is dealing with his personal demons and so and so forth for each of the guys. It's a mess, but they all have one thing in common...their attraction to Astra and hers to them. The storyline overall is enjoyable, but there are some elements and things that I question when it comes to the characters and their behavior. This book is classified as a "enemies to lovers" but I view it more as..."extreme dislike to lovers." They were never really "enemies." Knoxe was a jerk from the beginning, but the others didn't have as big of an issue with her. They took their cues from him more or less. I like the development of the relationships, but I found some of it a bit repetitive. It seems that most of the guys focus on her "milky, creamy skin" or her "sassy mouth and the things that they'd like to do with it." I begin to question...is that all that they think about/focus on? Okay, not ALL of them, but that seems to the constant focus since it gets repeated...a lot. When the storyline focuses back on them trying to work their way out of prison and stay out of trouble I'm more engaged. I am rating this book 4 out of 5 stars. It has a lot of good elements, but I was disappointed with the constant focus on certain things and words being overused.
Wow, book two picks up where book one leaves off. Skyler has done an excellent job of keeping my interest with the characters and the plot. The pace was just right and I have found myself very interested in the Guild of Guardians series.
Astra is a great female lead, I find that I like her as a whole. I really love reading about the female lead gets more bad a@@ as each book goes. The guys are just right for what she needs. They all fit together.
I like how Skyler makes her characters seem real. How each relationship with the guys Astra moves at a different pace with each one. They are working on their relationships and I could not look away.
Overall this series is turning out to be pretty good, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I floved this! The team is coming together as a family and group. I love seeing the dynamics between astra and all the other guys! Cannot wait to read more of the adventure between them it’s def a book I would reccomend
After a great battle, Astra arrives back at the guild with an injury and a new secret to keep. Every single person of the team has their own demons to battle and secrets to guard. The question is: will all these struggles result in them finding each other again, of will it tear the team further apart?
This book picks up right where the first one ended, what makes it possible to immediately get emerged in the story again. While reading, my rating kept switching between a four and a five star read, so I'm gonna keep it at 4,5 stars. Reasons for a five star read are characters like Pascal and Tor: I really really really like these guys. They are geeky, vulnerable, but also very true to themselves, kind and still strong in their very own way. I love the bonding between Astra and Pascal, the playfulness between Tor and Astra, ... I also enjoy the quests and missions they have to face as a team and the way these five characters make each other stronger.
The only thing that made me lose touch with the story sometimes was the lack of relationship talk these people engage in. There is plenty of spice, in plenty of combinations, but still they never talk about all of them being together with Astra and what that means. Maybe it's me, but I don't like that. Especially in RH I feel like there need to be a clear understanding of who means what to whom. Despite that though, I do recommend this series, especially for the main characters and the action as a team (both on and off the field).
There is no part in the book I got bored. Being sentenced to the prison and taking on missions in the Guild of Guardians, Astra has developed into a kickass fighter - until her Asperger's kicks in. The current missions are no exceptions. Dealing with dark fae mafia, avatars of gods, vampires, and powerful magical object is a lot even for an average day; but with the team Astra is part of, no day is average. I loved to watch the progress in relationships between the five of them, Astra centering the slowly dysfunctional team into a tight-bound unit resembling family. Secrets are surfacing, shielded hearts being open, and the sudden truths finally break the ice barriers between the men, bringing them together and repairing what was broken. The more I learn about Tor, Knoxe, Raze, and Pascal, the more I love them the way Astra does, and the connection to the story gets even stronger. Hot, steamy scenes fire up the plot, and the scene with Cupid (and afterwards) made me laugh really hard when I pictured it all in my head. Great piece.
This book picks up right after the first one. You see Astra dealing with the aftermath of her vampire fight. She slowly is building her relationship with Knoxe, after he disappears for awhile from the team. She is still hestiate around Raze. Astra and Tor have relationship issues to deal with. Pascal is dealing what he feels for her as well. Astra will also learn that her about issue with her injury and coverage. Things will get really steamy with Knoxe and Tor. She is drawn to all the men in her team, due to different reasons. Astra will also have to figure out about her appeal as well.
There is a lot of non stop action, her developing her relationships, dealing with her own issues, appeals and so much more. I recommend reading this series. This is a unique heroine, that goes through ups and downs. She doesn't lose her fighting spirit.
Astra, a Guild of Guardians detainee, and her team of men - Knoxe, the a-hole team leader, Tor, the joker, Raze, the strong silent one, and Pascal, the one she can most relate to, - are trying to recover from their last mission. As the story progresses the secrets she holds increase, communication breaks down, and taking help from the Gods may be the end of them all. Hindsight’s a Witch by Skyler Andra pulls the reader in and spits them back out at the end craving more. I need to know what happens next and am not sure I can wait.
I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
This is book 2 in the Guardian series and starts where book 1 ended.
In Hindsight a witch Astra Tor Knoxe raze and Pascel bound more as a team. Astra has a lot to do with that as each man slowly starts to open up to her and share their deepest secrets which in return makes them all realise that they need each other more now after Jaz's death than ever before.
The team are still hunting for Styx whilst each dealing with their own problems, They all grow in character in this book and we get to learn a lot about all of them which explains more about why they are the way they are.
I love this series and Can not wait to find out what happens next.
(This can be read without the Novella life's a witch but personally I recommend you read it as it adds to this story)
What a mix of emotions!! We really get an in-depth look into the characters within this second book and their burgeoning relationships. The situations the team find themselves in throughout really forces them to look at who they are to each other and whether they can actually move on from loosing Jaz or not. There’s some real soul-searching abs development going on! 😀 It’s great to see Astra’s relationships with each individual guy are independent of each other and move at their own pace - although just you wait for the sex scenes 🔥🔥🔥 They face a multitude of problems that creates a lot of action, drama and secret keeping so you just can’t stop reading to see what happens next! Looking forward to seeing what the next book brings 😍
Everything heats up with this latest installment. Astra and the guys have their work cut out for them with the guardians, and with emotions running high! The team have to learn to work together, while secrets are kept and emotions plague them. It has your heart melting in scenes, you sweating with the heat and all that action to keep you glued to the pages. The relationships between the characters explode and weave into more than friends, more than colleagues that has you wishing you were Astra. It's a magical adventure that just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Okay this review is a little rough for me. The story itself is fantastic. I love picking back up with the characters and watching them grow closer. Even though there is a note that the Halloween novella isn’t required to follow the story, the point in this book where the events from the novella happened didn’t jive cleanly with me and I feel like if you hadn’t read the novella you would be kinda lost. Not that it’s a bad thing because who would say no to more Astra and her men right? The story is so amazing that it carries over any superficial issues, which is why my review is still five stars. BUT I personally would read the novella first.
I Love Astra and her quirky boys!! This storey is amazing in the way it takes characters with personality disorders, autism, secret identities and weaves them perfectly into an amazing storey As individuals they are all misfits but together they fit together as a team no even better they are family. Dysfunctional but family. Incarcerated in an institute where the team go on missions to bring in rouge supernatural’s to reduce and pay off their sentence but get themselves into a lot of trouble along the way as things don’t go to plan…..a lot. This book is full of action and sub plots with a really good storey, plenty of heat and you will most definitely fall in love with Astra and her team.
I've been sat anxiously awaiting this story, and my excitement became so much more after reading Resting Witch Face. I think I can even forgive Skyler Andra for not including a scene with Tor and his chocolate just because she gave us those two glorious scenes with Pascal and Astra in the hallway and Raze and Astra in the bathroom. I mean can we just talk about those scenes cause just wowzers.
I loved delving back into this world where these four crazy guys have found the glue that seems to hold them together even after the loss of Jaz. I loved finding out more about each and every character including a bit more back story into each of them. I'm still loving the connection between Pascal and Astra, they are different from everyone else but they understand each other even in the hell hole they find themselves in.
Honestly can not wait for book three cause I loved this book so much, I want to know how it's all going to end.
I loved this book so flipping much! Astra is strong and is amazing in her own way. It is not usual to find characters with disabilities and I love how Skyler Andra portrays Pascal and Astra. Having worked with students on the Autism Spectrum, it is nice to see this disorder being addressed in a positive way. I love how Pascal is finally beginning to let Astra in, and that is difficult for one with his condition. But what I love most about this series is how they are finally beginning to gel as a group and I cannot wait to see what happens next. Also, loved the random appearance of Mads. He always makes me laugh.
loved this read! love these characters so much. I love that conditions are not shied away from and behaviours are normalised. I love these characters so much. Astra has so many feelings, some she can't control or explain, some are so overwhelming she goes into panic mode and the boys do everything they can to help. I really feel this is the book where the guys really start to get a handle of themselves and how they feel and how they wish to act... it doesn't always happen but they start to know what they want. Fantastic read and i cannot wait for more.
I love Astra and her men! This second book picks up where the first one ends. We see how Astra handles the aftermath of the Vampire fight. We also get to see the relationships bloom between all of them as the story moves along. There is sure to be some rockiness and steam along the way. Definitely a dysfunctional family in their own way but they also tend to keep secrets. Lots of twists and turns as they continue their journey. Pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until the end! Fabulous! 💜🖤
Can we talk about character building and how I want to put all of them in my pocket and keep them forever? From Astra’s strength from fear to Pascal’s courage in new experiences. The spice just got spicer in this second book, like get me a towel cause I’m sweating Spicey. There was a lot more going on in this book from chasing new criminals to team interaction that kept me from putting it down, it keeps you on your toes with all the action but doesn’t hold you in that anxious suspense, so you get that nice gratification. And it still has a great mix of a nerds wet dreams with comic references. I can’t wait for book 3. Note from book one review: Grammar and scene fluidity made a great improvement in this book.
Hindsight's a Witch: Enemies to Lovers Reverse Harem (Guild of Guardians Book 2) by Skyler Andra is an amazing story to read. This is book number two in this amazing series that I am hooked on. I loved reading this story and can not wait to read the rest of this amazing series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about reverse harem and paranormal romance.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
This book picks up right where the first one left off, with Astra finding out Raze's secret. The first book showed how broken the team was, and this book shows the connections tightening as the team members start to share their burdens and secrets with Astra and her helping them. I love how the characters grew in this book and I think that was the main focus. Can't wait to find out what happens next!
This second book carrying on from book one and is every bit as good! The awesome storyline continues to grow and develop as do the characters and I just love Astra who is so strong , sassy and awesome! The world building continues to amaze me and I love the characters back story it just gives you so much insight! This paranormal RH prison academy series is very addictive and action packed and I totally recommend it!
First of read book 1 since this is a series so it's needed. Book 2 picks up where book 1 was left. Astra is dealing with her situation best she can. Vampires fight dirt so she knows now. In this book there is also a lot of growth in the relationships with each of the guys. All have their issues to overcome and it makes them relatable to me. More real. The heatlevel rises too with Knoxe and Tor. I had so much fun reading this series so far.
Astra is still a pretty great character, and this book picks right up where the last book finishes. It does overlap with a short novella in Wicked Souls, and so gets a little muddled in the middle area, but other than that it was a excellent read. The relationships between the 5 really evolve in this book and we get to see more of Pascal and Raze. I really like the story line and can’t wait to see what Skyler Andra does with the characters.
Love it! This is the second book in the Guild of Guardians and I must say.. I like it even more than I liked the first book. The men are all coming together to make a perfect combination that keeps me intrigued and wanting more. The secrets that the team holds are slowly coming out but not without creating disfunction in the process. Watching how Astra handles all of this is quite the ride! I can't wait to see what happens next.
This is the second book and should be read in order. There is also a short story in Wicked Souls called “Resting Witch Face” that will add on to part of this story. Astra must have some special ability to either irate these four men or make them crave her. But she is one lucky girl. Each character has suck a unique personality that makes them pop off the pages. And the hot scenes are oh so yummy. There will be danger and then more danger, lots of tension and some very hot scenes.
Astra and the guys each have their own secrets and and quirks that make them unique. But it's also what makes them such a great team. Book two they start to come together more and find a better working relationship. But of course things just keep getting thrown in their path to test each and everyone of them. Somehow someway they need to figure out how to trust each other in a place where trust can get you killed
This book was very well written and takes you away from your everyday reality. It moves along at a comfortable reading speed which makes for a nice read. You will fall in love even more with these characters and the story keeps you reading and turning pages till the end. This is a must read, no doubt about it.
WOW the second book really lived up to my hopes for this series. I was really wanting more from the end of book 1 and this completely delivered. Love all the Characters and how they are evolving with the story. Still love Astra and Pascal and how well Skyla has written him as a character 💕💕
Picking up right where book 1 ended, Hindsight's a Witch starts with Astra and her team recovering from the last battle. Throughout the second book, the relationships between Astra and these four men are growing, some quicker than others. There is also a lot of action, and more secrets that Astra has to take on herself. I really enjoy this heroine as she is very unique from any other character I have followed in a RH series. I can't wait to read book 3!
Another good installment in the series. Tons of action and smoking hot love scenes. The world building is more comprehensive and the character development deeper as would be expected from second books. I’m looking forward to the third installment. Recommended.
I loved this book. It was entertaining, and Astra and her guys are heating things up. Takes off from the previous book, including the novella, it's an adventurous ride. I'm looking forward to more heat and fun for the team, after all the secrets are revealed.
