The story revolves around alpha dragons who are discovering their fated mates, which have traditionally been human females. However, humans are unaware of the dragons' existence and do not feel a bond with them. Thus, dragons can only reveal themselves if they are certain that the woman is the one their fate intended for them.

As these women learn about the new world around them and what it means to be fated, the narrative becomes rich with tension. Each woman also grapples with her own personal challenges, and the dragons will do anything to keep their mates safe.

Emotions run high as the characters confront their circumstances, navigating conflicting feelings of fear, hope, and longing. The presence of strong alpha males adds another layer of complexity to the story.

Amid these challenges, there is an undercurrent of playful interactions. Overall, the narrative is a captivating blend of love, action, and adventure that keeps readers engaged from beginning to end.

Good grief! Is this really Roxie Ray who wrote this??

Having read a couple of Roxie’s books before and I loved them, I couldn’t wait to read this. Wow! What a let down. She does a job that mostly men do. I’m not really sure if she’s a plumber or an electrician to be honest. She’s supposedly self employed, and can pick and choose her own hours and get up late, finish early! Seriously??? As a fledgling business she can’t do that!! She seems to think that men are only good for a quick lay, and every single man out there judges her for the job she does! Then there’s him. He’s 25 never had a steady job, doesn’t want to work, wants to get his inheritance from his parents and live off the money. She’s his mate but he doesn’t want a mate. His grandfather and uncle make him get a job or he doesn’t get his inheritance. He acts like a spoiled kid, not exactly a swoon worth hero!!! Sorry but neither characters are likeable. Really not good.

Worst FMC

The chip on this chick’s shoulder is so huge she can’t even understand her own behavior. I thought Bethany was the worst FMC in this series, but no. I was wrong. It’s this one. In one of the first interactions with Rico she’s mad that the gym’s front desk guy doesn’t step in and say something to the men harassing her, and then she gets mad when Rico actually does say something. Pick a stand. Do you want help or don’t you?

Once again continuity is an issue. Their editor should be fired. Someone should catch and correct when significant facts are changed mid-stream.

Can we also talk about this town? It seems to have an over abundance of villains for a town that is supposed to be quite small. We’ve had rapists, kidnappers, stalkers, bullies, drunks and drug abusers galore. It seems a bit much for one small town. Half are dragons and the other half are creeps.

Hated this one. The first couple books in the series were decent. I was rolling my eyes in the first chapter, but halfway through, I had to stop. The author had a feminist agenda in this one, complete with making an Alpha dragon as submissive as possible, and the protagonist hating all sexism except when it served her. Why not just make Rico a Beta or an Omega dragon? His instincts would have better fit one of those.

I didn’t read any reviews before I started, but I stopped after she was unnecessarily mean to Rico for complimenting her then went home and cried herself to sleep because he told her she looked nice. Came to the reviews and saw that the book was pretty much going to keep going the way it has been, so I’m out. I hate to not finish a series but I had to push through the last one, and I’m not going to do that again.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Her Dragon Rebel

Well, this was better than the last two books. All three have arrogant, entitled young guys as the MMCs but this one at least had some humility and ability to learn. Honestly, if these guys didn't have dragons in them, I don't know if it would have been believable that they could change so much.

“I was hurting my dragon. By extension, hurting myself. For his sake, I had to try to be the man he thought I was. At least I had to try. Even though I was sure I’d fail.”

I liked that she was tom boyish. The girly bedroom was inconsistent and annoying. I also like the world - the nature of the dragon shifters and the town.

This was such a freakin good book. I honestly didn’t think I’d like Rico’s story, especially after bus introduction into the series, but damn, talk about redemption.

And Kara is such a strong female character. I love everything about her. And the way she reacts to learning Rico was a dragon, had my grinning, it was awesome.

This booked wrapped up the series so well, a definite 5 star read.

While I really loved this series, I wasn’t wowed by this book. It was ok. Jury’s story is still my favorite of the series. Maybe part of the reason I wasn’t enamored with this book is because I didn’t like Rico due to his behavior in previous books. Most of the time, secondary characters in some of the books are like a friend when I finally get to their story. Like Jury. I came to really like him from the other books where he was just a minor character. So that by the time it came for his story, I had already developed an affection for him.

Not so with Rico. I already didn’t like him when this story opened. While I did come to like him by the end of the book, it took a while. It’s still a good book and a great series. I highly recommend it to any fans of PNR books.

I liked most of the series wasnt a fan of Bethany but at least i didnt want to stop reading at every chapter thought it couldnt get much worse then that book boy was i wrong. It took me 3 hrs to get to page 42 I put it down so many times unfortunately I have a little flaw that no matter how bad something I need to just finish it. I'm having a hard time getting into Kara's hateful wishwashy attitude. I finally smiled on the part where she met his dragon her attitude was great then, out of all the books she was the only one that didn't wine about her friends keeping it a secret. Unfortunately her happy attitude didnt last but a blink and she went back to her crappy attitude ugh I have 30 page left to get through

DNF, I already didn't like Rico when he appeared in Jury's story so wasn't looking forward to his story, but turns out Kara was the reason I stop reading she started of worse then Bethany in the last book, a woman with a chip on her shoulder is annoying.

DNF’d I thought Bethany was bad. I got to the gym scene and decided not to waste my time reading about a whiny spineless Alpha and a condescending FMC. Do yourself a favour and stop after book four in this series.

Kara comes out of her shell & Rico learns responsibility.

There are triggers in this book you have been warned. Twice someone is almost forced themselves on someone.
Bad boy Rico is given an ultimatum by his grandfather & uncles. There are various steps involved but the gist is hold down a job for a year get your inheritance. Mess up or not meet the criteria they donate it all to charity. And he comes from wealth on both sides of the family. His mother actually left him more money than his dad. I still think his parents were murdered. He was raised by his grandfather, grandmother, & uncle. Unfortunately they spoiled him rotten. Even though he still had them he felt alone & abandoned. He would have gladly given all that money back if he could just have his parents.

Kara's parents were drug addicts & alcoholics. When someone called child protective services on her parents she was put in foster care. There was no food in the house she had been stealing from the gas station to survive. And she had bruises all over. By the time she turned 16 years old she finally found the right foster family. However, shortly after they divorced. Her sister went with her mom & she stayed with the dad. Which explains how she learned to use tools. She also helped him work on his classic car. When she was in high school she was bullied by a popular girl who was jealous of her & a guy that was on the football team. Both play their parts in this book of showing how they still enjoy making fun of her.

Kara needs help at work. It was about time to hire someone. Business was picking up. She met Rico when she was done doing a job at the gym. Poor Rico has never met someone like Kara. He stuck up for her & she got mad at him. Poor Rico he was just being a gentlemen. And he didn't let people treat a woman like that. Too bad he had run into her. Valen, Rico's dragon knew she was his fated mate. Rico was in denial. As fate would have it Rico had trouble getting a job. When Jury saw the help wanted sign he called Rico. The minute he walked in the door he smelled Kara. He thought he could work with her & it wouldn't be a problem. He would collect that trust fund & find a place in the mountains where no one could find him. Kara makes Rico a deal on how he will get paid. Rico is given some videos on how to make repairs. Turns out he's A quick learner. Kara goes out for a night of celebrating with her sister & a friend. She gets a lot more drunk than she thought. When she goes to the bathroom & splashes water on her face she realizes her bully was waiting on her to come out. He forces her against the wall. Unfortunately no one but his buddies see what's going on & the music is to loud for people to hear her yell. Of course, she is saved by someone. And this is just the beginning of the bully trying to terrorize her. At the end several of the previous couples in this series have a multi couple wedding. I'm not saying who you will have to read it.

Her Dragon Rebel
By Roxie Ray

This is the last book (I think!) in Roxie Ray’s Black Claw, Colorado dragon shifter series and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading each one. However, this book seemed to lack a certain spark that the others had. I can’t really describe what that spark is, except to say that I just wasn’t as invested in the characters and outcome as I was in the other stories. Don’t get me wrong – it’s still a very good book, just not AS good as the others, at least in my opinion.

The book tells the story of Rico, a cousin to the Black Claw Kingston’s, from Arizona. Rico’s parents died when he was young and he has been spoiled by his uncle Perry and grandfather. As a result, he made some really poor choices when he was younger and he’s come to Colorado to try to turn his life around. He’s been told by Perry and his grandfather that if he can’t get a job and keep it for a certain amount of time, they will donate his entire trust fund to charity. Sounds like pretty good incentive to get on the straight and narrow to me.

Kara’s parents died when she was young as well, but unlike Rico, she grew up in foster homes, until she got lucky and was adopted at age sixteen. Several years ago, at the suggestion of her adoptive father, she opened her own handy-man business. Even though she occasionally gets harassed by men for being a woman in a man’s business, she doesn’t let it bother her overly much. And when Rico defends her to a group of men in a gym, she’s not grateful, she’s irritated. When he runs into her about a week later at the local bar, he tries to make amends, but again makes matters worse.

Kara’s gotten so busy that she is ready to hire someone to help her. When Rico hears of a job opening in the small town, he’s at the place of business bright and early on Monday, having looked for work all weekend. As soon as he gets out of his truck, he smells Kara’s scent. Even though he knows she’s his fated mate, he tries to ignore that fact. He figures that he can try to apologize to her one more time, but doubts he’ll get the job. To his surprise, Kara decides to give him a chance. As the two work together, they each come to the determination that they may have been hasty in their assessment of each other.

Ms. Ray always throws in an element of surprise and danger into her Black Claw dragon shifter stories and this one is no exception. I won’t tell you what it is, except to say that it’s very well written and certainly makes the pages fly by. Altogether, this was a very good book that was well-written and engaging. I still love Roxie Ray’s Black Claw dragon shifter series and I’m sure you will as well if you like paranormal dragon shifter books.

This is the last book in the Black Claw Dragons series, and features Rico and Kara. I enjoyed this story and found it surprisingly different from the other books. I wasn't sure that I was going to like it since I found Rico annoying in the last few books. To me he has a "Peter Pan" syndrome since he can't seem to grow up. His grandfather and uncles finally decide to lay it all out and tell him, that unless he shapes up and gets a job (and keeps it), he won't get his inheritance.

Kara is the only person in town that people can call to repair things, and she's really good at her job, but she gets a lot of flack for being a female in a man's line of work. Some people in the town are mean and cruel with what they say about her, but she lets it roll off her back like water. After a run in with her ex, her father decides that she needs to hire someone to help her out. He also thinks she needs a man in her life.

Rico applies for the job, letting her know up front why he's applying and how long he's willing to stay. Kara gives him a shot anyway. He realizes that she's his fated mate that he's been trying to avoid because he doesn't want the complication of a mate with the plans he has for his future. During their time together they find that they have a lot in common, and that has Rico is starting to rethink his plans. Kara starts realizing that her father was right in more ways than one. There are lots of things that happen along the road to their happy ending, but I don't want to ruin the book for anyone.

The story made me want to keep reading, which is always a good thing. It didn't have too many of the inconsistencies that the other books had, but there were a few things that left me wondering here and there. I like that Kara didn't freak out like the other women in the books when she finds out about Rico. It was refreshing to see that she was actually excited about his dragon. I would have liked to see a little more of the other ladies that she was around in the other books, especially Bethany, since she calls Kara for different repair jobs. I wasn't too thrilled with the ending of the story, even though it includes the couples from the three books before this one. It felt too rushed to me, but they had to clean up loose ends somehow. I did like Uncle Perry's comment at the end, and would like to see a story about him.

*Spoilers*
I have to give Roxie Ray cudos on this story. It is very refreshing to read about a small town with more humans than shifters in it. Kara and Rico both are parentless adults. They both lost their parents as children by two different means. Kara's were still alive but she as a foster kid. Rico's parents both died in a car crash when he was a child. Both had different paths as they grew up. Rico was a spoiled rich kid that got into the wrong crowd. Kara finally had a family from one of several foster homes. Kara became an independent woman after a horrible high school boyfriend Tye treated her badly and broke her. Rico came to her small town to get his head on the right track so he could get his inheritance. Rico found Kara and his Dragon Valor to let him know she was his fated mate. Rico fought this of course as he wanted to be a hermit. Tye harrassed Kara and Rico put him in his place. Along with Kara's childhood bad girl Cynthis also belittling Kara and Rico didn't take that too well either and scared the crap out of Cynthia hoping to keep her away from Kara. Rico found that Kara read paranormal romantic books and decided he would get a feel from her if she would accept Valor and him as a dragon. Kara accepted without much trouble. Things were going great then Cynthia got into Karas head and made her doubt Rico sticking around. Tye broke into her house and that broke Kara so much she told Rico to leave. Rico left reluctantly and got information on Tye and that caused Tye to kidnap Kara. Rico and his family found Kara and saved her of course. Rico and Kara ended up married and Rico was studying to become a security specialist. Great love story for sure.

Kara is a mechanic who wants to be taken seriously. Just because she performs a traditional “man’s job” is no reason for all the males in town to laugh at her. Worse yet, no one wants to work for her either. She is ready to hire an assistant. Since no one else will take the job, she decides to give Rico a chance when he comes around looking to be hired. There is no way she will fall for the playboy, so it should work out.

Rico is a known troublemaker who is desperate to get a job. Spoiled, he had made bad choices in his youth. Now he needs to become a responsible adult. His grandfather and uncle have told him he must get job – and of course keep that job for a set amount of time – to prove himself. If he can’t do that, his trust fund will be given to charity and he will have nothing. So Kara is his only hope when no one else will hire him.

But as soon as he gets her scent, he knows he is headed for trouble! Kara is his fated mate, and his dragon is already roaring at him to claim her immediately! Can he convince her that they belong together? And will she let him keep the job when she knows what he actually is?

I really love shifters, and dragons are the best! Fortunately, Kara seems like a tough young lady who can handle a dragon, so maybe it will all turn out well. The characters are likable, their chemistry is sizzling, and you know we’re in for a ton of laughter as Kara tries to avoid the playboy who is actually her mate and won’t be able to hold out for long! Grab your copy and enjoy this fun story!

If you love shifter romances, especially dragons, this series is fabulous! Rico is the latest Kingston to discover his fated mate in Black Claw, and it’s definitely not an easy go at first. As much as Rico tried to ignore his destiny with Kara, fate had them colliding more than once, and Rico would fumble his way through their encounters each time. Kara is a great heroine, and my favorite in the series! She’s determined and self-reliant, trying to make a name for herself in a profession that is dominated by men. She isn’t frilly around the edges, but she’s got great sass and definitely doesn’t roll over lightly. She sure gave Rico a hard time, but then softened when she discovered they both have similar backgrounds, and Rico was trying to better himself. I was just as giddy as Kara was with the reveal of Rico’s dragon, Valor! Everything about that scene was amazing, and it was fun how the author tied in Kara’s reading preferences. As with every installment, a happily ever after doesn’t come without a hitch, and Rico’s plan to save the day allowed him to prove his love to his mate, as well as his maturity and growth to his family.

Listened on audio: Bitsy Hill returned as narrator for a second time in this series, and her performance shined again. Her voice was a great choice for this couple, especially delivering on the fiery spunk for Kara. Quite an enjoyable listening experience!

Thank gosh this is the last book. Especially since every dumbass dragon except Maverick and Axle has been fighting the pull of their mate. Geezus
Kara tells us her foster family adopted her but later tells Rico that she was too old to be adopted so just changed her last name. Someone either hire an editor or fire them if you have one.
And Rico spent 13 years with Maverick family in Arizona but he constantly talks like he never got to spend time with their loving family growing up lol
OMG Kara states she's almost 25 but then James says she's a year or two younger than Maddox. Who is 22. But in the books real timelines he's really 20, possibly 21 now. Did someone go on another date with a time warp? Will Tiffany be 10? Maybe Hailey will be old enough to drink. I. Just. Can't. Omg

How does Kara own her own business and home? She's so dumb. She believed some bitch over her own mate knowing there's NO WAY he'd confide in that woman. Especially when Cynthia said he was going to work for his grandfather. A cop. He told her so many times he wanted to hide in the mountains and if he wanted to be a cop he could have been one in Black Claw. Like how dumb do you gotta be not to laugh in Cynthia's face acting like she knows something that's 100% opposite of everything Rico has said for 6 weeks lol I hate that the authors feel the need to do a stupid break up every time over dumb stuff lol these are supposedly adults.

Everyone has found their mates.

Her Dragon Rebel Black Claw Dragons: Book 6
By Roxie Ray
Kindle unlimited purchase
It's Rico's turn to find his mate but can he grow up enough to be there for her. Rico and his dragon, Valor, didn't agree with much these days. Rico wanted to stay as far away as he could from Kara. While Valor wanted to get as close to her as possible. His family put their foot down and now he has to follow up on their rules so he can get his inheritance. 12months then he can get the money and go live the live of a hermit.
Kara knew the Kingston men were hot but Rico was the hottest of the bunch. She is a handyman and business is booming if only people would expect her for what she can do and not what she is, a woman. So she hires the one man she can't seam to get away from.
I hope there is more to this series but I don't think there is going to be... Everyone has gotten their mate. Would love a prequel and be able to read how Carla and James found each other.

Conclusion to the Black Claw Dragons - but hopefully not forever

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.

This is the 6th and final installment of the Black Claw Dragons. While there is some background provided and it could potentially be enough to read it as a stand-alone, I highly recommend it be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers due to reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc.

I really wish the town featured was real, as I would love to live there. The Kingston men are all dragon shifters, and while none of the existing characters are single, there are plenty Kingston relatives in Arizona for a spin off series hopefully.

As with all of the Black Claw stories in the series, the story universe is well developed and described for the reader, and they contains strong characters and themes. I have been playing catch up on Roxie Ray’s stories and I hate saying goodbye to these characters, even if it is only for a little while.

The trust fund dragon and the handywoman

Kara's more comfortable with tools and running her business as a handyman than with the opposite sex, much less the last single Kingston man. Rico is stuck in exile in Dragon Claw, penance for his criminal ways and lack of direction. Rico hides the pain of losing his parents at a young age by being reckless and avoiding responsibility. Working for Kara is his last chance at keeping his inheritance. His apprenticeship and ensuing relationship with Kara make him realize he wants to be a man she's proud of, the man his dragon Valor always knew he had in him. When a man from Kara's past threatens her, he's willing to do anything to protect her. As their connection deepens Rico has to decide if he'll embrace her as his fated mate. Plenty of steamy scenes as well as action as he races to save his mate, not that she's some meek damsel in distress.

I stumbled upon the Black Claw Dragon series and quickly devoured all the stories. When Rico came to town I just knew we’d be getting his book and Roxy didn’t disappoint. Rico wasn’t your typical “I’ve got it all together” kind of hero and I think it made him more vulnerable and easier to connect to. I loved Kara because she wasn’t a girly girl and was happy in her own skin. Even though she had some issues with abandonment, she wasn’t one to hold a grudge or continue to give Rico a hard time once he explained himself to her. Bottom line, these were two very flawed characters that just seemed to work together. I’m not sure if this series will continue, but I’ll be more than happy to jump back on the bandwagon if I see another pre-order.

Strong start with a disappointing finish.

This book had all the makings for an excellent series finale for the Kingston family. I really didn't have any issues with the book until it came to the finale conflict.

It reads very much like a book that was rushed at the end. All of the tension and payoff of what has been building up ends with a whimper instead of a bang.

We have two characters with abandonment issues, and when that is finally a conflict it just gets completely glossed over because the ML does a rushed rescue job.

Everything after that is a rush job of quick descriptions to "tie up" the plot, even though things get glossed over and forgotten. It was particularly annoying to not get any closure with Ophelia.

All in all, this book gave the impression that the author wanted to move on quickly to other projects.

Great story. Dragon shifter, Rico, needs a job or he loses everything. Kara is a handyman - handyperson but no man in the town will take her series when she needs someone to work for her. Kara had to put up with all the guys harassing her and laughing at her and her jobs. She's pretty cool about speaking her mind. Great storyline and loved that Rico knew that Kara was his fated mate but she was worried about his playboy attitude. They had great chemistry together, pretty sexy and their bond was strong. Find out why Rico had to get a job or lose everything. Find out how well things work out between Rico and Kara. Love the story. She is a handywoman in a small town she is also the only handy person so whether the men in the town like it or not they call her but she get harrassed a lot.

Rico needs a job or loses his inheritance to prove himself. Rico applies for the job that Kara advertises and she understands that it is just for 1 yr or is it? Once they start working together Rico actually likes working for her. Kara realizes he is not that bad of a person like she first thought.

This is book 6 in the Black Claw Dragons and this is Rico’s and Kara’s story. Kara is a independent woman she loves to fix things it’s her job but every time she goes to the gym for a job there is always a guy there who tries to put her down but Kara gives it back to them she won’t let any man intimidate her. Rico got into a lot of trouble back home now he is living in Black Claw to try and sort out his life he knows who his mate is so he’s been trying to stay away from her, now Rico has a choice get a job for a year or lose his inheritance and to make things even harder he just got a job working for his mate Kara. Fantastic story I loved it and the characters with their 🔥🔥 chemistry and I definitely recommend this book.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Her Dragon Rebel by Roxie Ray is the sixth book in her Black Claw Dragons series. I really loved this read! Something about Kara and Rico touched me on a really emotional level. I laughed, cried, got angry and smiled... a lot. A great story that is packed with action, drama, humor, romance and sexy heat! This is a Mature Readers Only Read. While the books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but are offer the best reading experience if read in series order. Fun and sexy, this is a must read series if you love (dragon) shifters and the feisty women that are destined to be their mates.
