I liked the book. It was a (fictional) story of a presidential campaign as told through the eyes of a campaign manager (Henry Burton) . It resembles the campaign of president Bill Clinton and the different characters within his campaign and the other democratic candidates. From what I have heard Bill Clinton loved people and was always at his best around people just like the character in the book (Jack Stanton). I think it probably modeled the way campaigns are run and the ups and downs of the political scene. Good book.

Surprising full of information about the presidential campaign runs. I found the discussion of how reporters follow the campaign and how people are hired to spin the news during a campaign eye-opening. Henry was an engaging narrator and his moral dilemma while working the campaign emerges over time.

I do not believe anyone is all bad or all good. Deftly illustrated in this book.

I liked how it ended, it was a new way for finishing a story. Big disappointment for those who think it well go the way it started. However, I didn't like how the writer made Libby exaggerate her actions and ended her life for that stupid reason!

Primary Colors by Anonymous 5/5 ⭐️ - I’ve seen the movie about a thousand times but never read the book so I thought I’d give it a go. I liked that it was simultaneously more specific while at the same time allowing you space to fill in the blanks with your own imagination. One of my favorite things was that I picked this book up from a resale shop and inside it I found a receipt from April 1998. The owner bought a single t-shirt from the Mango Bay Beach Co in Sarasota, Florida and paid with a hundred dollar bill. That seemed very fitting for this particular story so I made up a whole scenario for its previous owner. It was all very meta. #rachels2019readinglist

I don't like reading about real-life politics, so why I thought a novel about politics would be any better is anyone's guess. I suffered through it because it was on my book shelf, but I am proud to say I will be getting rid of this book immediately!
