Montrose Paranormal Academy better watch out—it’s time for Seer Training.
I’ve got some new angel powers to play with. And I’m only getting started.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned since last semester, you never know what the Three Societies are going to do next.
First, they invite you into their midst and call it Seer Training. Yeah, right. Like they have any idea what to do with the likes of me.
Then they say, “Go fend for yourself.” I don’t think they’re going to like the way I fend for myself.
Because I’m tired of bowing to the whims of the Guardians, Nexis …
Or anybody else for that matter.
I’m the Seer. I’m the one with super-cool angel powers. And I’m the one who pays the price when I use them.
Whether the Guardians want to teach me or not, I need to master my new powers before they turn on me.
And I need to decide a few things for Whose side do I want to be on in this tug-of-war between the Three Societies?2. Which one of my two guys is ready to fight for me?3. How can I turn the tables to get what I want for a change?
I still want to find my brother. Maybe even fight by his side. But first, I need to learn how to become my own Seer.
Just because I have awesome powers, doesn’t mean I’m anybody’s property.
Montrose Paranormal Academy, Crossing Nexis is book 2 in a Clean Academy Paranormal YA series for teens. It’s a saga full of slow burn romance, snarky dialogue, and urban fantasy adventure set in New York City. Think Shadow Hunters meets Shatter Me with a dash of Bloodline Academy.

Just like the 1st book, this needs the services of a proof reader and a decent editor. The story itself is ok, not as good as the 1st book, but the author was going through a very tough time. The"teen speak" needs a lot of work. People don't "smash" their lips against someone's mouth. Sounds more of an assault than something romantic! I'd thump anyone who did that to me. There are some glaring continuity issues, the same with some of the spelling and grammar and the similes and metaphors mostly don't make any sense at all. I'm not sure I can be bothered to read the next book. I'll probably just skip to the last chapter to find out how it ends. I'm hoping it ends with book 3! Sorry, but this was a real let-down after enjoying the 1st book so much.
Once again, the story line is commendable and interesting. It was obvious from the first book her love interest would sway but the many mix ups in this book gets frustrating. From date night going from 6pm to 8pm, to the title of hacker getting switched up from character to character in the same dialogue, to several more slip ups..
DNF at chapter 2. I pushed through the first book and even read the prequel (which was far superior to book 1), but I just couldn’t stomach any more of Lucy or Bryan or the back and forth and the repetitive text (she drops her fork and it hits her plate, her jaw drops, then the same thing is repeated on the next page). There is also quite a lot of repeated information that the characters act like it’s the first time they’re hearing. It happened a lot in book 1 and once it started up again in book 2, I just threw in the towel. I’d rather spend my time on something I look forward to reading.
This book was quite enjoyable due to its fast-paced nature, we finally figure out by the end which of the two love interests she ended up with. Due to shaky and fast worldbuilding with the previous book, it somewhat affected this book, the book also contained repetition regarding information we already knew or the characters already knew. As well, I noticed several grammatical errors which drew me out of the story and left me confused.
This is not your ordinary paranormal fantasy since most of those stories are about witches and dwarves. It is quite thrilling and a page-turner and I read this very quick, there were several tense moments and of course, one person sacrificed themselves.
This is book two in the Montrose Paranormal Academy series. Having escaped from the clutches of her psychotic ex-boyfriend and the dangers of the academy, Lucy now embarks on seer training in how to use her magical powers.
Although Lucy must learn to use her nascent abilities, and overcome lots of challenges and dangers, she still finds time for romance along the way.
Readers who enjoy an urban fantasy laced with secret societies, magic, and dastardly plots will enjoy this well-written book. I'm looking forward to book three and Lucy's continuing adventures.
In Montrose Paranormal Academy, Book 2 Crossing Nexis by Barbara Hartzler the Academy better watch out, it's time for Seer Training. Lucy has new angel powers to play with, is tired of bowing to the whims of the societies and is just getting started. I love this series. Would give it more than 5 stars if possible. I received this ARC through bookfunnel and am more than happy to review. I am looking forward to reading book 3 next. These books are available on Amazon
Crossing Nexis by Barbara Hartzler is Book 2 in the Montrose Paranormal Academy series. Lucy's adventure continues. She learns more about herself and realizes that she must become who she is supposed to be. This is an easy read with wonderful relatable characters that has action, romance, and is another page turner. Onto Book 3 to see what the author has in store for Lucy. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary review.
The guardians want Bryan and Lucy to break up, and Lucy to spy on Nexus. Lucy starts hanging with Will and finds out he's her interpreter. She has dreams of Will and her flying with her Angel. Her Angel helps her escape from the Nexus council. But she looses her best friend. She joins the Guardians and Will the Watchers.
Heartbreaking. That's what a great book does. It makes you love the characters and when something happens to one it breaks your heart. That's all I can say. This book is one hell of a tear-jerker. Received ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
What a wild ride. All three societies have things going on and the world may never be the same. Nexus is doing there best to get Lucy, and the Guardians believe she should be on their side. Friends, love interests , and plots.
The plotline kind of works, but nothing special. The little girl crush on every cute guy is over the top and kills any value in the series. I can't believe I read the series with this kind of girlie infatuation with guys throughout the books.
The story line is interesting but somewhat bland. You don’t really develop a connection to the characters, they’re kind of flat. There is quit a few inconsistencies in the timeline.
This book is fast paced which I like. If a book takes to long for action between characters I get bored and delete the book. That is sure not going to happen with this series which is good since I already bought the whole series. :)
What an emotional rollercoaster. I cried for Shanda... Excellent storylines and interesting characters. An enjoyable series, I look forward to reading more.
I loved reading this story with a very different take on paranormals. These are not your normal witches, demons, vampires or other kinds of paranormals.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. First, they invite her into their midst and call it Seer Training. Then they tell her to go fend for herself. She is tired of being controlled and bowing to the whims of everyone. I love her ‘I don’t give a shit’ attitude and how she is taking charge of her life and her powers, she is no one’s property. She needs to master and get in control of her powers before they turn on her. She has a lot of big hard decisions she needs to make. She still really wants to find her brother and possibly fight by his side. What an emotional rollercoaster. I cried for Shanda. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to read what happens next in the series. I highly recommend to everyone.

Crossing Nexis is an amazing sequel that grabs you from the beginning. The author is so descriptive that you feel you are right there in the middle of the action. The characters are also wonderful and very relatable that you feel as if you know them. This book has something for everyone! There’s action, paranormal, and romance. I would highly recommend this entire series.
Got to be 5 stars for the second book in the series absolutely loved it. The characters are realistic and believable developing their personalities. The storyline gripped me from the start. I highly recommend this book and the series
Liked it so much I read it in less than four days. I loved her creative wording to express emotional responses. This series opens the world of the unseen fight between the underworld and heaven. Now my biggest downer is going to be waiting for the next book.
Can't wait for the next book!!! This book was hard to put down. Loved the plot twist and change of love interest. And who doesn't need a best friend to keep you on your toes.
