** Release Date October 14th! The 3rd Book in the Lake Pines Mystery Series. . .
The truth emerges, one victim at a time.
When Sebastian Crow is found murdered in his secluded cottage on Crow Island, it seems like an open and shut case of a burglary gone wrong.
That is, until Dr. Kerry Dearborne arrives.
With a ghastly murder scene, no weapon and every access locked from the inside, her gut tells her there’s something more to this murder.
To find the answer, Kerry delves into the private life of a reclusive man who seems to have had more enemies than friends in the small town of Lake Pines.
As both the police department and his family members push her to quickly close the case, Kerry interrogates possible suspects and examines Sebastian’s life. She soon uncovers a sinister picture of his hidden life putting only more questions in her path.
Before time runs out, Kerry must catch the killer. Because if her instinct is correct, the murderer is ready to claim another victim.
L.L. Abbott writes fiction, mystery and suspense thrillers. Having called both Canada and the U.S. home, she pulls interest, settings and ideas from many cultures, weaving stories and characters into her novels. Having been a life-long reader and storyteller, she began self-publishing her own work after a decade of copywriting and ghostwriting for others. Loving the element of plot twists and 'a-ha' moments, Abbott is constantly challenging herself to come up with a new way to tell an old story. Another book hits the shelf....finished the book and can't wait to start the next one. L.L. Abbott doesn't disappoint. I thought I had it solved, then second guessed myself, and then my jaw dropped because I did not expect what came next. I just wish I had more time to read, but work gets in the way of life! The Lake Pine Mysteries are well written and always seem to keep the reader's attention. I am so glad I discovered L.L. Abbott's work.
My favorited book so far this year! Abbott know how to add the right plot twists at the right time leaving you turning the pages till the end. Great book.
Murder of Crows, is the third book in the thrilling Lake Pines Mystery series, which is my favourite book so far by this author. The twists in the plot are bountiful, and complex, which makes it a page turner. Nothing is ever as open and closed as it appears to be, there is always a depth to the suspense conjured up in Abbott’s books.
As the victims start to pile up in this small sleepy town, Dr. Kerry Dearborn has her hands full and the reason she left Montreal begins to surface and naw at her soul, but Kerry is a strong woman who is great at her job as the local coroner. You can’t keep a strong woman down.
Again, as with all of her books, the author is a master in the whodunnit saga with surprises that the reader cannot see coming. A well crafted mystery, with strong characters and a great storyline. The mystical crows are around when danger lurks in the darkness.
Third Book in the “ A Lake Pines Mystery”, “Murder of Crows” opens with a murder in a secluded cabin on Crow Island; a blow to the neck killing the victim, his body stabbed seven times after his death. Intensity and suspense increase as coroner Dr. Kerry Dearborn delves into the victim’s life discovering a sinister picture of a reclusive man who was condemned for years by the community for the abuse of his son.
In a gripping well-developed murder mystery the intrigue ratchets higher in Lake Pines with a second murder; the discovery of old bones after a mudslide; and a double kidnapping. There is even a secondary plot as Kerry’s past in Montreal comes back to haunt her after a confrontation with a persistent reporter. Fast-paced and absorbing all too quickly the plot flows seamlessly to a surprising ending.
Among a host of interesting characters is the strong, intelligent Dr. Kerry Dearborn whose temper often explodes under pressure; Isabella Crow, Sebastian’s condescending and demanding ex-wife; the reclusive, wealthy victim Sebastian Crow; and the bevy of mystical crows that lurk in the branches around the cabin when danger is near. All these and many others add to a mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end.
I thoroughly enjoyed “ A Murder of Crows” and look forward to reading the last book in this compelling series.
Not the best crime book I’ve ever read but not the worst. A simple cop drama/murder mystery. A good beach read, if you’re lucky, or a solid bath read. It felt like watching an episode of any basic cable cop show.
