The only child of an oil mogul, Rose Kingsbrier should’ve had it all. That changed the day her momma died, leaving her to live a solitary life in a mansion that was more like a mausoleum.
Rose tried for years to get her father’s attention, eventually finding it easier to become Eric Kingsbrier’s source of grief than to live in grief’s shadow. Convinced that she’s irresponsible, now Rose’s father intends to marry her off. But she won’t let him barter her away that easily.
Ross Cavanaugh’s construction business is renovating the Kingsbrier mansion and, before the job’s even started, he’s swept up in Rose’s schemes. The southern heiress is a hot ticket and easy-going Ross enjoys their budding friendship until Rose proposes a marriage of convenience to solve her problem and provide Cavanaugh Construction financial backing. Rose may not mind dragging her reputation through the mud, but Ross has worked too hard to be accused of fortune hunting. When Rose gets herself in over her head, agreeing to her offer may be the only way to save her.
The slowburn romance prequel to the Kingsbrier Quintuplets.

This is a bit of a flash back as this is the story of the quints parents. It could be read first if you wanted to read them chronically. However is is fine to read it at any point. It was a little slow for me at the beginning but stick with it because it is well worth the read.
I loved Rose Kingsbrier as a character. She may have been born with a born with a silver spoon in her mouth but doesn't come across that way. Sadly the one thing she wants most isn't anything money can buy. The love and respect of her father. Her father is set on marrying off so her new husband can run his company. After all his daughter can't do it regardless of the fact that she wants to.
Ross Cavanaugh was the perfect man for Rose. He never saw the numbers in her check book. All he saw was her and everything she could be. He's hard-working, full of compassion, and of course handsome. I mean his children are beautiful so it goes to reason him and Rose be just as pretty.
Of course there is plenty that seems to want to keep them apart. They have to work through it all. I do need to say that this was does touch on some tough subjects so it could be a trigger for some. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Wickedly Romance
Rose, Rose, Rose. {shaking my head} Having never had her Daddy's affection or respect, she has developed the opinion that ANY attention is better than NO attention and we all know where that can lead. Luckily, the man her father wants to railroad her into marrying is a truly good man who can rise above all of that and see her for who she really is and not just her money. This is a wonderful story, explaining much about Rose and Ross. It was a bit of a slow starter but worth hanging in there until it picked up around Chapter 8-9. I loved Rose's spunk and sass and Ross' patience, kindness and longsuffering. Oooh and the steam these two put off! Lucky my phone didn't melt! Definitely a book and a series I recommend!

I received this free book from the author upon my request and am voluntarily leaving my review. All opinions are my own.
This was my first book by Kaye and it was really good. The cover is intriguing but it doesn't end there, the story line an characters are as well. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
After the passing of her mother Rose had everything that money could buy except for the love and respect of her father. Her worth to him comes down to ensuring that the man she marries will take over his business empire and refuses to consider that is capable of doing it herself.
Ross owns a construction company and finds himself working on Rose’s family home. He is drawn to her and after a harrowing incident they agree to a contract marriage, but will they be able to handle the emotions that go along with it?
I really enjoyed the strength that Rose showed and Ross was the kind of guy that any girl would be lucky to have.
This was the first book I had read from this series and I will definitely be checking out the previous books. This was a really good read and is Rose and Ross's story. All Rose has ever wanted was the love of her father she was hoping to take over the company but her dad wants to marry her off to a man who will then take over. These two meet when Ross's company start renovating the family mansion Rose come up with the idea of them getting married to help each other out. I really liked these two they were good together and it was wonderful watching Rose blossom around him.
Jody Kaye's writing is simply magical. She writes with such beautiful descriptions and detail, I could see everything as it played out.
I have a confession, I have not read the other books about this family. But it didn't matter, I was quickly swept into the story. I loved Rose's character. As an only child of an oil tycoon, she could have easily been written as a spoiled brat. Instead, she was complex and I found myself feeling sympathetic towards her.
Ross was everything an alpha hero should be.
I enjoyed reading this story so much, I will be going back to read the others in this series!
So this was the first time reading this authors work and I have to say I really liked it and look forward to reading more. It had a great storyline and has some great characters to read about plus it's hooot and steamy too. So I hope you all enjoy it to. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

I adore this!! I read this book after reading the first three books in the series, but you can read it first. This is the story of the Quints's parents. I LOVE THIS! The back story was just as amazing as the kids's story! I cannot love this book anymore!
Jody’s writing gets better with each book. I find myself falling in love with the characters all over again. She is so in tune with the emotions of each one even though they have such varied personalities. They come alive on the page.
Cavanaugh is a beautifully written story of self-discovery. Rose Kingsbrier was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Unfortunately, the one thing she desires has been withheld from her her whole life - The love and respect of her father. Her father wants to marry her off to a man that can step up and run his company, the only thing Rose has ever wanted to do. She will do anything to avoid that trip to the altar, to include manipulating and embarrassing anyone and everyone. I loved Rose’s character. She is intelligent and strong-willed, yet has no understanding of her own potential. Ross Cavanaugh, handsome, hard-working and full of compassion sees more in Rose than what she allows the rest of the world to see. With him, she can be herself and he accepts her for who she is, not what her checkbook can bring. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a bit slow to start but I was thoroughly rewarded for continuing on.
We finally get Mrs. Rose and Ross' story, the story that starts it all! It doesn't disappoint and it was great seeing how their love unfolded! Rose definitely was a wild child, but Ross was right there to keep her in place and it was great to see it come to be!
I was given an ARC of Cavanaugh. I thought I couldn't be more in love with this family. WRONG. After reading Cavanaugh, so much about the family makes more sense, not that it didn't make sense before, but it's beautifully woven in. The detailed intricacies of Jody's writing tie each story and each family member together in ways I couldn't even fathom until I read the next book.
This is a new author to me, and I certainly look forward to reading more of her work. Rose was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and all her father wants to do is marry her off to a man who will take over his company. Rose is hardworking and intelligent, and is perfectly capable of running things. Handsome Ross Cavanaugh sees more to Rose, and she can be herself with him. This is a well written story, but in tad slow to start, but that is just my opinion.
I had some trouble getting into the beginning of this book, but I did get more engaged as the book progressed. I liked the emotions in this book. Rose's desire and need of her father's love and approval is something that will resonate with many readers. So are her actions when she realizes any attention is better than being ignored. Ross is just a great guy. He's smart, capable and kind. Together, I felt that they made a good couple. However, there is a lot to work thorough along the way. This is my voluntary, honest review.

While part of the Kingsbrier Quintuplets series, this book could really be read at any point in the series. That's because it steps back from the quints to tell the story of their parents and how they ended up together. Readers of the series will know Rose as the loving mother and respected businesswoman, but this book takes us back to her wild past and shows us how she became the woman that we've read about in the other books. Her story with Ross starts out rocky - she has a rough experience and he is there to help, but then things get a little crazy after that. But their love grows from getting to know and respect each other, and it shows through everything that happens to them.
This is my first book by this author and what a book, I loved Rose and Ross (for the most part).
This book has some definite trigger warnings and my heart broke for Rose. Poor Rose, all she wants is her father's attention and love. Rose is a fiesty, strong women who comes to her own. At times, Ross bullheadedness frustrated me but all in all her was a good guy. I wish we has more of Rose and Ross together as their relationship developed and how they navigated the differences between them.
This one get a solid 4.5 starts from me and I already have Eric by this author downloaded on my Kindle
This book is part of the Kingsbrier Quintuplets Novel Series but it read as a standalone. Rose and Rose are great characters that you'll learn to love as they do. She had it all except her billionaire father's attention and love. Rebellious and headstrong, Rose makes life interesting and difficult at times. Lots of twists and some surprises along the way. I read a reader copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review. This is my first book by this author and I was impressed with her work.
A drama-filled story, I found it a bit slow in the beginning, but it definitely picked up as the story progressed. The attraction between them was clear. I liked how the character attempted to gain her father's attention. I didn't like how he ignored her wishes and I really didn't like what happened to her. I didn't feel it necessary to the story. Maybe it allowed the story to move in a new direction. I guess we will never know. I did like the story overall, though. It was a beautiful story.
I have to say Rose is something else! Her antics to get her father's attention are priceless. Her father is old school and wants to marry her off to the son of his rich friend all of which she is opposed to doing. She meets Ross at a rodeo and they have a connection. They get closer when he comes to do the renovations to their kitchen in the mansion. This is a touching story where Rose and Ross's connection blooms but will a blunder by Rose end things before they take off the ground?

This was a really good story that dealt with a lot of truths about the time period. It also dealt with rape and thought the author did a good job with this portion but I think readers need to be aware in case they cannot read about this type of thing. I liked Rose and Ross a lot! The dynamics of their relationship was wonderful. This is a very realistic story. I really enjoyed the story and the characters; well with the exception of the creep.
She was the heir but her father never noticed her. She is lost when her mother does and she tries to get her fathers attention but gets nothing. He decides she needs to marry which she hates. She meets him and she plans a marriage of convenience. He is unsure at first but then something happens and it may be the only thing to save her. Follow them as they try to work things out

Loved reading Russ and Rose’s love story. An emotional read about a girl trying to find her place in the world and the man who helped her. All throughout out the book I was trying to find these quintuplets and finally fugured it out. I wished they were introduced in the end. Still a great engaging read. Recommended read. Want to read the rest of the series.

This was a emotional read. Rose just wants to be noticed and loved. I found myself rooting for her, she was a great character. Ross strong protective all around alpha male. This story has steamy hot and had some hard to read scenes. It is fast paced and a smooth read. Well written and thought out. I recommend it to all. I received it from booksprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
