She’s the key to my heart, but the secret she's kept may destroy my soul.
I spent years in the military molding myself into someone better. After the accident, entire parts of my life are missing. My memories, my career, my leg—they’re all gone. And Colette, my best friend who has owned my heart since we met, has run off and eloped.
With nothing left, I give up and block everyone out. That’s when my family brings Keely Adair back to Kingsbrier to be in charge of my physical therapy. She’s tough as nails and won’t put up with my nasty attitude. Sure wish Keely used the same regimented tactics on her wild daughter.
When I put my foot down about the kid’s out-of-control behavior, the three of us turn into something more... the family of my own I never thought I’d get.
A struggling single mom is the last woman I’d expect to heal a loner’s soul and rebuild their confidence. Except as Keely unlocks my heart, and we begin building the life we were both certain we’d lost out on forever, the secret she’s kept from her child may destroy us all.
The unexpected conclusion to the Kingsbrier Quintuplets.
** This book deals with themes that include PTSD and darker emotional scenarios. Please consider reading reviews or contacting the author if you have questions.
Jody Kaye writes interconnected steamy contemporary romance, including the unbridled Kingsbrier Quintuplets and the emotionally charged, multi-generational southern Shattered Hearts of Carolina series.
“Jody is a masterful storyteller, with beautifully developed characters, incredible landscapes and every now then and plot twists that will leave you reeling.” —Goodreads review

This is my favorite of the series and I can see why Jody Kaye saved the best for last. Colton went to war only to come home and have an accident with a tractor. It leaves him crippled, angry, and just ready to give it all up. So his family brings in Keely, Ginny's sister, to help him. Keely and her daughter move in with Colton and well it's an adjustment.
This one is certainly about recovery as much as it is about love. Recovery that while obvious Colton needed I think Keely and her daughter did as well. They all not only recover and heal together but in the process find love and become a family.
This is the one book in this series that CANNOT be read alone. You must read at the least the one before in order to understand it. Like I have said before in my opinion you need to read them all so you can experience this wonderful family.
Jody Kaye had me at the word 'dark' in the caveat for this one, as if I wasn't liking the series enough as it were. *snort* This was indeed my most favorite book yet! Gah, these characters and the feels! Too much I tell you, just too much...but in just the right way. This is such a hard book to not giveaway too much from that I will leave it at this - RUN, DON'T WALK AND BUY THIS BOOK!!
5❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 4🔥🔥🔥🔥
I gratefully, from the depths of my soul, received this free book and am totally voluntarily leaving my review. All opinions are entirely my own!
I am at a loss for words here in both a good and bad way. Colton is the story of him and Keely. I have to make it apparent this story CANNOT be read as a standalone. You will need to have read all the books prior to this one. That being said, I read this book going in not reading the whole series. Jody did a wonderful job of explaining everything that was going on. From the start when C, wakes up to pretty much a new life, one he never knew would happen to him, to all the of the family members.
This was a beautifully written story showing two broken souls coming together as one under some really crappy circumstances. I was turning the pages so fast I read this whole book in less than a day. That being said, this isn’t a “safe” book. There is absolutely nothing crazy with this book in fact it made my heart stop a few times. There is no ow drama which is a plus. And, this book ends on an amazing HEA. One that melts my heart.
C’s love for Keely and her daughter pours though the pages and I’m so connected to that. Jody Kaye did an amazing job of piecing together some tough situations and making it a story that I will for sure never forget.
Simply said, I have loved every single one of the Kingsbrier Quints. Colton took the cake for me. Jody has outdone herself! Colton Cavanaugh is a man who has survived being shot fighting for our country and continues to serve with pride, until a tragic accident with the tractor leaves him crippled, and angry at anyone and everyone, with little will left to survive. The family hires Ginny's sister Keely to take over his physical therapy, recognizing it may save his life. Keely and her almost teenage daughter Gracyn move in to Colton's house and the fireworks begin! There hasn't been a character in this series that I haven't loved.... well except for Alan Adair, Keely's father. Keely and Gracyn are no exception. I love Keely's courage and quiet determination. Gracyn is full of sass and she made me laugh... over and over again! I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride, which is par for the course with Jody's books. Laughter, crying... it's all part of the gig! While I am terribly sad to have this journey end, I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion! I know this is a series I will read time and again!
If you know anything about being a multiple, you know that everyone is different yet the same. He just wanted to be himself not as "one of the quints". He did just that until he couldn't anymore. Everyone needs help in their life. Both of them did. She was worse than him. I completely understand your pride not allowing you to ask for help. They helped each other so much. He healed quicker and she became a better person. Their truth was that they needed each other to get through the storms that came ahead. Whether they liked it or not, it was appreciated.

The much anticipated and long awaited Colton Cavanaugh’s story.
Wow. This did not disappoint. From the detailing of Colton’s situation emotionally and physically, in both the early days but also months later, to the tie ins from earlier in the Kingsbrier Quintuplet stories, which shows a thorough background story prior to pen ever touching paper, to loveable characters and finally the tying up of loose ends, so you feel satisfied as a reader if you have to say goodbye and leave this family behind..... well until you re-read on your next annual holiday.
Would love it if the author, Jody Kaye, ever got the urge to squeeze out another Kingsbrier Quintuplets novella/side story/bonus chapters.
Colton survived his years of service to return home and be injured in a freak accident that not only affected him physically but emotionally as well. His concerned family don’t believe that they are helping him so they hire Ginny as his physical therapist.
What starts out as sparks of animosity turns into sparks of a more potent kind as she refuses to back down and helps him regain his fighting spirit. I wish that this series didn’t have to end but it certainly ended on a high note.
This is a story of recovery. Recovery from loss of memory (some), loss of a limb, loss of a career and the loss of living instead just existing. Colton and his family are struggling, he lost a leg in an accident, and recent memories. Trying to help his family does everything they can, but he feels as if he has no choises that that has been taken away as well. He drinks and wastes away. Then in comes a physical therapist hired by the family to help they don't want to loose him. Take this journey with Colton and see if he can accept help and learn to heal.

Great story and a good ending of the series. You need to read the other books first for lots of things to make sense. Although I had read them, it was a while and I did‘t remember all the details which made reading this book sometimes difficult. It would be great to read it as a box set, so that all the events from previous books are still fresh in mind.

This series was so freaking sweet but with some major freaking bombs that you would NOT be expecting. You HAVE to read the rest of the series because you will not get the full experience unless you do. Colton by far was my favorite, this surly man is freaking amazing and totally my new book boyfriend, he's mine I claim him!!! ;)
There are major bombs dropped in this book and I am not sure if I fully agree with them, but it still helped bring the drama and angst. I freaking adored this series and this book was a freaking delight to read. It had it all and if you are a fan of contemporary romances, I recommend you checking them out!
PS: I received a free copy of the book to read and review honestly.
When Colton gets injured and needs physical therapy his family hires Keeley to help get him back on his feet. Keeley and the daughter move in with him and that is when the fireworks begin. Enjoyed this story and the sassy daughter just added makes for a funny sweet book.

This is a great story and wonderful addition to the "Kingsbrier Quintuplets" series. It's a roller coaster ride but also an amazing journey for these characters. I love the story-line and development. I really liked Colton and Keeley! The sparks definitely fly between these two. Add the Gracyn to the mix and wow. What a wonderful development between these three.
This is the sixth book in an interconnected standalone series - it can be read by itself, but I recommend reading them in order. Colton and Keely's story is my favorite of this series! I have loved them all, but Colton stole my heart! Gracyn stole the show in this book! I adore that little girl! WOW!! So much heat, heart, and chemistry! FIVE STARS FOR SURE!
This is a super addition to the series this is the sixth book in the series and they really need to be read in order. I have really enjoyed all these books but have to admit that Colton's book may just be my favorite. This is a great book and if you enjoyed the previous books then you don't want to miss this one.
Book six of The Kingsbrier Quintuplets series a well written story which is Colton, Keely and Keely's daughter Gracyn and the secret Keely has been keeping for eleven years. I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Of all the books in this series I loved Colton the most! It was very well written and the characters were amazing! I could not put it down and I would highly recommend this to others!

She is a single mom trying to make it all work. When she gets the job offer back home, she isn't in a position to refuse it, even though she is afraid it will cost her. And what it is going to dig up. She hopes she can get in and do the job, make enough money for a new start for her and her daughter and then move on. He has given up on everything. One mistake cost him everything, the life he knew, the career he worked for and even his place on the family ranch. Now she is there to help his recovery and the last thing he wants is her or her smart mouth daughter, until that is the only thing he wants. This one is more than a romance, it is a story. This is a full length book and it will take you through all of the feels. They have a lot to fight for, and it will be a ride. The author does you right with character development. You cannot help feel connected to the characters, their strengths and their vulnerabilities. You quickly will become invested in their story and the redemption they are on their way to find. There was one twist that I did not love, but the author did pull it back around for me. This is book 6 of a series, but it functions as a complete stand alone. If you are looking for a longer story, something you can curl up with and dig into, a couple of wounded people who find their match in each other, a little spice, family connections and a happily ever after then this might be for you.

This is the story of Colton and it picks up right after Adams book as he struggles to remeber what happened after an accident took his leg. He was a Navy Seal and still is one of the famouse Kingsbrier quintuplets. Keely is a single mom with a Secret that she needs to keep hidden the only problem is she is working in the one place where her secret wont stay hidden. She is a physical therapist who worked at the is not working I hope to him back and find to his feet. The two have great chemisty and even though there is a lot of angry from Colton Key relies on her training that she receive is the VA with other soldiers that had PTSD. They geow closer. This is by far my most favorite story in the series. It pulls at your heart makes you swoon and cry but also feels like real life. This whole series is like watching a movie about a real family you can feel their pain their and accomplishments. They support each other and fight you can see the cities and homes they build. I highly recommend reading from the beginning. Its an amaing love story not only about a couple but family and friends.
Colton is the sixth and final book in The Kingsbrier Quintuplets series. I read this book a few years ago but revisited it again, as I enjoyed it so much. Colton is the youngest of the Kingsbrier siblings. He was a Navy SEAL and loved serving his country and being a part of his team. But he has an accident working on a tractor with his older brother Adam and is permanently injured, losing a leg which means he cannot return to his team. Keely is a single mother to Gracyn, a young girl who is more than a little surly. Keely is a physical therapist who had worked at a VA hospital. But when she lost her job to budget cuts and then ran out of options she took the last thing she wanted, becoming Colton's therapist and nurse which was arranged by her sister Ginny. One move later and Keely and Gracyn find themselves living on the Kingsbrier estate and looking after a very surly Colton who is more than unhappy with the life he now has. Life is what you make of it and Colton and Keely are about to make a very different life than either expected to have.
Quite an emotional story about Colton, a former soldier grappling with the aftermath of a devastating accident that cost him his leg, his memories, and his sense of purpose. Isolated and bitter, Colton has shut out the world—until Keely Adair, a tough, no-nonsense single mother and physical therapist, reenters his life. Keely, who has her own emotional scars and a spirited daughter in tow, is the last person Colton expects to help him heal. But as they clash, connect, and slowly build trust, their relationship evolves into something tender and transformative. The chemistry didn't resonate with me particularly which is unusual. But the writer's sensitive handling of PTSD, disability, and the complexities of parenthood made me want to finish it. Keely’s secret adds a layer of tension that keeps the reader invested, and the payoff is both satisfying and poignant - although I struggle to see how that relationship can work.
Overall this book was mediocre to me. I unfortunately started the series with the last book so a lot of the back stories of other characters was missing and confusing. In many other series, each book stands alone with the characters from other books taking somewhat of a backseat. In this story it was too much back-and-forth between all the characters that unnecessarily muddied the plot. I was OK with the beginning with Keeley coming to help Colton fight back from his injury. The back-and-forth points of view at times got confusing, especially when random chapters were from one of the siblings point of view instead of the main characters. Just seemed out of place. The surprise twist towards the end was disappointing and a bit too convenient. Not interested in going back to discover the other stories. Plotting was just kind of all over the place for me.
4.5 stars Colton & Keely I've read a number of the Kingsbrier books including Gracyn's book in the next generation series & was intrigued by Colton's story. Despite having read ahead Keely's secret still surprised me as I had forgotten it. I don't think you need to have read in order as there is sufficient background & world building without spoiling each story. The issues; disability, PTSD, trauma etc are all dealt with sensitively but also without shying away from some tough realities. Keely & Colton have each got some preconceived ideas from 10 years before and have to overcome assumptions & each of their own issues before they can move forward together.
Like with the other books in the series, Colton's story has been woven through the other quints' books. And especially through Adam - when I got to the end of it, and Adam was ready to have his happy ending, and then Colton had his accident...I definitely didn't see that coming! I wasn't sure what was in store for him, but I was hoping for the best - he's always been quiet, in the background, feeling different, and he deserved to find some happiness. He met Keely, and things started to take off. And then Jody Kaye threw in some more twists and turns that caught me way off guard!
With each book in this series, I thought I'd found my favorite - the one that I connected with the most. Then I would read the next book. The intricacies woven in the relationships between family and friends are as maddening as they are hilarious, as frustrating as they are heartwarming, and as gut-punching as they are rewarding. All that said, throughout the series, Colton is a character that you can love and want to smack sense into all in the same breath. So, for now, Colton is my favorite...but I haven't read the next book yet.
I will say it was rather confusing with the last name thing. But the story is about a soldier that returns from war and makes it home in one piece to end hurt and in a wheelchair. This soldier is darn right miserable and wants to just hide away,he's fighting everyone and everything. Until Kely comes and helps him heal, plus shows compassion to him , but no feeling sorry for him just plain ol moral support. Excellent story of families, hardships, marriages, babies and bad families also.
I have enjoyed the Kingsbrier series and Colton's story is a great ending. Each has had their own romance and as we learn how Colton becomes romantically involved, the secret that has been kept and about to be revealed could be explosive for everyone. Some are kept buried for a particular reason, or to protect certain instances but the fall from its reveal might be destructive..Colton and Keeley laid bare.
