I love all of Julie's books and was lucky to get this one a little early. As always, I couldn't put it down. The characters are easy to relate to, emotionally well rounded and easy to fall in love with. While good to read as a stand alone, you MUST read the other books so you can fall in love with the with the other characters and read their stories. Its always fun playing a guessing game as to who the next book will be about, odds are you met them in a previous book. Can't wait to see who's next!

Collision Course is the 3rd book in the Westin Force series. It's a stand alone PNR with a second chance trope. This book starts out fast paced then slows down however, it's still an interesting, full of wit read. Macie, a 7 year old is a force to be reckoned with and will have you laughing out loud. She is the star of the show!!

Baine and Olivia are bear shifters deep in the woods of Colorado. They fell in love as teenagers and when Baine told her brother, his best friend that he loved Olivia, the Alpha and his sons kicked him out of the clan and told him to never come back, but he left something behind he is unaware of.

8 years later, The Alpha Pike is kidnapped and thought to be dead. Baine is a member of an Elite Force of operatives and they have been assigned to rescue him. Arriving back home he comes face to face with a smart mouth lil girl who informs him that she is his daughter.

With one sniff Baine and Olivia realize that they are true mates and that they still love one another. While he's searching for her father they decide to become a family but it won't be as easy as it sounds...

Of the three books of the Westin Force series which I read (3, 4, and 6), I found this one to be the weakest. It was the first one I read ... and it had enough interest I went on to read two more of the books of the series - so "weak" is a relative term.

Star-crossed young love leaves secrets and pain in its wake when elders "who know better" tear them apart. Years later, the young-love bump together after becoming full adults. Now the secrets and pain come out. All with a paranormal twist of bear shifters and military-thriller twist the overarching storyline of the Westin Force series.

I didn't like the "forgive everyone" vibe - I found it too pat, and nearly toxic. Their family tried to KILL them. Destroyed nearly 8 years of relationship. Lied. Everyone lied. But the people doing the forgiving are bear shifters, so it could be base to their personality? The need to let go of anger because of the power of being a shifter, maybe? (this comes up in the next book, so it could be part of the species "healthy" mind)

When your family is toxic, and you gain found-family which teaches you how not to be toxic, you may need to forgive - to let go - so the toxic doesn't kill you. But there is absolutely no need to go back into that toxic environment. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting what caused you pain and letting it happen again.

⎯» Rating: 3.25 Stars

⎯» Genre(s): Paranormal Romance, Military Fiction, Contemporary

⎯» POV: Dual—First Person

“I’m going into the family business,” Macie announced.

“Aw, you want to make people feel beautiful like your mom?” Resa gushed.

“No. I’m going to be a spy, like my Dad.”

I groaned and said a quick prayer. Please Lord give me the strength to get her through the teen years.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, which left me at a bit of disadvantage since it’s the third book in the Westin Force series—which itself is a spin-off of the Westin Pack series. Meaning that much of the world building, and characters themselves, have already been established. It wasn’t rare for me to find myself overwhelmed or confused given my lack of knowledge. So keep that in mind if you’re trying to decide whether to read books in the shared [Westin Pack/Force] universe in order.

As for the story itself—for the most part I liked it. Macie was a hoot, and I found her initial meeting with Baine to be hysterical.

“What Exactly Is It That You Do?”
“I Blow Shit Up, Uh, I Mean I Blow Things Up.”
“Cool. Can I See?”
“Absolutely Not.”

Can we also talk about how he picked her up and held her?

Now, I’m no expert on the language skills of seven year olds, but I’m pretty sure that Maisie’s speech is more advanced than it should be for her age. I enjoyed her commentary too much for this to really bother me, but it did feel a bit unrealistic.

The explanation behind why Blaine was excommunicated from the Clan didn’t satisfy me. Sure we’re told why and how it happened, but the actions and behavior of Killian, Kano, and Pike contradicted the supposedly close bond Blaine shared with them. We learn that they all felt guilty once Blaine was gone, which is evident with their apologies towards him upon his return. Well all except Killian. He admits to regretting his choices, but then he continues to perpetuate the same mistake he made before by trying to keep Blaine and Olivia apart.

Towards the end I grew tired of the characters (I.e. Olivia came across as a bit prejudiced, or at least ignorant, when it came to the world outside of her clan). I also felt like the story fell flat. It was a relatively quick read though, so my disinterest wasn’t prolonged. And again, I found the story enjoyable for the most part, despite these issues.

Before I start this review, I'd like to take a moment and apologize for not being active recently on this account. I was struggling with my mental health, towards my second semester of school. But I'm back now lovelies, with this review. The story Collision Course, follows the perspectives of Baine a bear shifter who works for The Westin Force, (a group of animal shifters who go on missions to help others). While on one of his missions, he reunites with Olivia his former love, and our second character in which we see their perspective. Baine discovers something on his mission that may very well change his future on the Westin Force. I'm giving this book three out of five stars because it wasn't my favorite in the series, I did love the character development we got to see between Baine and Olivia as they pieced back together what's happened in their lives during the time that they've spent apart. What this story lacked for me is action, unlike the other books in this series, there wasn't as much conflict. But that's truly not a bad thing, I did enjoy the communication between these two characters.

I absolutely LOVED it! This is book 3 in Julie Trettel's Westin Force series and it's currently FREE on Amazon!

It's an amazing story of second chance romance with shifters and a suspense angle including a special ops team that tracks down and eliminates threats to all shifters. The characters were fleshed out perfectly and the storyline was entertaining.

I fell hard and fast for Baine and Olivia's love story. I really loved that this was not an insta-love story and that both characters had to work hard to claim the happiness they both truly deserve.

There are so many great secondary characters that I want to know more about! The dialogue was also funny, heartfelt, steamy and engaging. I couldn't put the book down.

I highly recommend Collision Course and the series, which I'm diving back into!

Collision Course is currently FREE on Amazon and the rest of the series is on Kindle Unlimited!

Hold onto your seat for this page-turning wild adventure to save shifters & maybe rekindle an old romance! “Collision Course” is the 3rd must read in the fantastic ‘Westin Force’ series! ... I loved the chemistry, even the push & pull at times between Baine & Olivia. All the characters are relatable & will have you cheering them on! Action-packed shifters and romance grabbed me from the start until I didn’t want to stop & read this in record time! ... Even tho I always volunteer to read this author's books, it is without any outside influences, and these are my honest feelings! Also, I buy her kindle books whenever I can, so I do honestly recommend this to all adult fans of fiction & I can't wait for more, but of course I always do!

Loved this book

Julie has done it again with Collision Course, I loved Bain's story and when he had to return to his clan that he had been exiled from to rescue his former Alpha O was in pins and needles. I will not give any more information away because you will love it and have to read it yourself.
Julie, I wanted to say how much I enjoyed Macie and the last chapter being her point of view. I am hoping that in some of your future books you will consider having some true mates be more mixed species again and integrate them into the Weston Pack. I love the idea of it and who knows maybe Macie and Oscar will become true mates and he turns out to be both wolf and tiger. That would be awesome

Pictures of the latest Raglan activity makes Baine Landry recall memories of Olivia Murphy and being homeless. As an orphan, the alpha gathered in Baine as one of his own until Olivia and Baine chose each other. Confiding in his best friend, Olivia’s brother, Baine found himself expelled without a chance to say goodbye.

Though he resists, Baine’s ordered on the mission to at least alert his old pack what Raglan is and that the pack is under surveillance. His arrival in town picks at old scars and it comes to light that neither Olivia nor Baine knew or know the whole story as their mate bond kicks in. Back on mission, the team discovers his old alpha is being experimented on.

Baine fell in love with his best friends little sister. Baine made the mistake of telling his best friend. Before he knew what was happening Baine lost the girl, his family, his best friend and his clan. Baine was given a choice leave the clan or be killed, no goodbyes just leave and never come back. Now Baine works for Westin Force and his next mission will take him back to the clan whether he likes it or not. Will Baine see his old love again? Will he have a second chance at love if he does see her? There is a lot going on behind the scenes in this book and I loved every minute of it. This is a must read.

Grizzly Bear be gone.

Julie never fails to draw me in with her books, and this was no exception!

Baine’s story is is one of heartache that never left him.
Unbeknownst to him, Olivia’s life had been just as tough on her as his was on him, with an added twist that had me grinning from the beginning.

I loved how quickly life fell together, trust was built, forgiveness was made and love conquered all.

Can’t ruddy wait for the next instalment, it’s one I’m very eager to read. Heh heh.

OMG this book is amazing! I am usually a strictly wolf shifter person but I sure fell for a bear this time. This story is soooo powerful and can't wait to see what happens next. These two show you that love beats all! No matter what life throws at you, if it is meant to be it will be. Baine is the type of man that can do anything by himself but it takes a strong woman to tame his heart and soul! And he is truly wrapped up in his love! It is a must read.

I love the shifter world Julie has created! Collision course is the third in the series following the Westin force. Its the first book about a bear shifter. I loved meeting the bear shifters and reading about how Baine's relationship developed and his possessive bear!
The book introduces new characters who I am excited to see what happens to, but also has appearances from old favourites! There were also a few hints for where future books might go which, as always, I'll be excited to read in the future!
Would definitely recommend reading this book, at times you feel bad for what Baine and his mate have had to go through to get to their HEA, but it certainly leaves you with all the happy feelings!

Another great book in a wonderful series

This book was so sweet that I found myself with a constant smile while reading it. Seeing Baine and Olivia finally get their happy ending after going through so much pain just made me happy. I love the Westin family and all the spin offs. I can't wait for the stories to continue.

Wow another amazing read in this shifter series. Baine and Olivia’s story was sweet and very romantic with a little Romeo and Juliet theme going on, without the final death.
Great story, plot and the characters are great. Some angst but this read was mainly about their relationship and history. Some romantic moments, loved the banter throughout. Highly recommend

Best in the series so far...

This book was the best in the series so far. I liked Baine a lot and his love for Olivia was beautiful. My favorite tropes to read are ones with adorable kids and although I thought Macie was a little advanced to be seven she was still a cute kid. I loved the epilogue and hopefully the friendship will turn into true mates🤞🏾

Then in the next chapter she called him a wimp had to be the funniest thing ever! But one of the best parts was that Macie got the epilogue! I see a new Series

Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. A lot of it has to do with the little girl, Macie. I’d be so cool if there’s a book of her as a grownup.
Olivia & Bain are so sweet together. They have an interesting history and I like how their reunion worked out. The side characters were cool too. I can see me reading this again and recommend this book.

A good story just a bit drawn out for me. Could have done with less time saving clan Alpha back & forth waiting for extraction. Liked idea blain liked to blow shit up when agitated to release anxiety & loved his brothers & they understood. Then he’s home again back to where it all began & has a mate with a daughter that is adorable . Talk about wanting to blow shit up!!

I really enjoyed this book. I have wanted Baine’s book since his first appearance.
This expected the kiddo, but I LOVED Macie’s personality and big mouth. Also, having her perspective for the epilogue was a really nice change.

I usually don’t like to read about second generations, but now I’m curious to know more about Zander and Macie, even Oscar.

Wonderful!

I love Julie's shifters. They are entertaining and engaging. I can be picky sometimes about how a book is written. With Julie's I don't have that problem, I know I can fall into her world and escape for a few hours. I'm looking forward to more adventures with the Westin Force!
