Blackbridge Security #3

Contingency Plan

Rate this book
As a former FBI agent, Flynn Coleman was made for his work with Blackbridge Security.

He’s highly trained, has a skill set meant for analysis and investigation, and meant to do important things.

Yet, he’s chasing a twenty-year-old starlet’s daughter around New York City because the spoiled brat never learned how to behave.

Remington Blair doesn’t need a babysitter, but her parents insist.

Keeping Flynn Coleman on his toes will be the most fun she’s had in a while.

Besides, just hearing him call her name with that accent is enough to keep her running.

I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them...so far this is book#3 in this new series by Marie James and I must say that I like the direction of the series.
This series is about a group of men who work for a high level security firm.
In this entry the hero is sent to the heroine as her personal body guard .This entry could definitely be read as a stand alone and I will be backtracking to the others.
I had a very hard time with the heroine at the beginning as she was a recovering drug addict..drinker..exhibitionist..etc...but as I read on..she grew on me and I quite liked her towards half way thru the story. She was a brat but there was reasons behind her horrible behavior and lifestyle. The heroine is drug free and sober at the beginning..it is just her backstory.Issues with Mommy and step daddy were her reason for her behavior, the lack of parental love and stability.
It takes the hero for the heroine to realize what she had been missing in her life.
The next story is Ignacio's and it looks really good.
Honorable mention has to be made about the foul mouthed parrot that belongs to the hero of book #2....omg...he was filthy and it was hysterical the things he said.

Flynn Coleman has a new assignment with Blackbridge Security, an assignment he never thought he'd be given because as a former FBI agent his skills can be put to better use...he's to "babysit" a twenty year old. LOL Yes it's as funny as it sounds because Remington Blair is much more than he expected, and lets just say these two are great together.

We really enjoyed this story it was fun flirty and a lot of fun, and we found ourselves smiling throughout the entire story.
Remi's was a lot of fun on the surface she seems to be just a spoiled rich kid but, there was so much more to her. Misunderstood and beautiful is what Remi is but, the more you get to know about her the more you realize her antics are more to get back at her parents because they are crappy and judgmental, unloving, and they only think about themselves. Remi was a firecracker in my book, and we just loved her. If I was her she should have slapped Flynn upside the head more than a few times because of his push and pull toward her and playing with her feelings but, there was no doubt this couple had amazing chemistry and it was off the charts they burned so brightly together.

Flynn was one of those characters that was caught between a rock and a hard place he was there to do and job and protect Remi all the while being highly attracted to her and wanted to take advantage of what she was offering and no matter how many times he tries to put distance between them, he keeps slipping up and making matters worse between them. The cat a mouse game was kind of cute and it was fun trying to see Flynn remain all professional.

Overall we really enjoy the story. The story was messy and fun and a bit emotional because of
Remi and her struggles with her uptight uncaring judgmental and unfeeling mother who made her feel more of a burden than a daughter. No matter how Flynn and Remi will play out there will always be this fierce connection between them that won't be easy to walk away from. We loved the constant teasing from his friends and their mischief ways to give Flynn the push he needs to make his move. Those sexy Blackbridge men know how to stir the pot. Lol. There were more than a few moments that made us laugh out loud which was just what we needed to lighten our stressful day.

Another fantastic read from this author! I am loving the BlackBridge series. I really enjoyed seeing Flynn all tied up with his emotions for the heroine. All that delicious tension was just burning from page to page. I liked the banter between the main characters as well as the secondary characters. I really enjoyed the possessive side we see of Flynn.

The heroine is sweet, even though at first she comes across as a bit of a brat, but we see how much she evolves and grows through the story. I really liked her character. Flynn is older by just a little and i really liked his caring side as well as his possessive side. The characters burned hot hot hot!

I can't wait to read more from this series!

CONTINGENCY PLAN is the third instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult BLACKBRIDGE SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for Blackbridge Security (BBS). This is twenty-nine year old, former FBI agent and second in command at BBS Flynn Coleman, and soon to be twenty-one year old, Remington Blair’s story line. CONTINGENCY PLAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Flynn and Remington) CONTINGENCY PLAN follows the forbidden relationship between twenty-nine year old, former FBI agent and security specialist Flynn Coleman, and soon to be twenty-one year old, Remington Blair. Flynn Coleman’s latest assignment is ‘babysitting’ a twenty-year old spoiled, little rich girl, who pushes Flynn’s buttons at every opportunity. With her famous mother and step-father, all but absent from her life, Remington Blair has a penchant for getting into trouble, and making her security detail work for every penny they are paid but something about Flynn Coleman makes Remington sit up and take notice including her perceived inability to get a rise out of our story line hero. What ensues is the tempestuous but building relationship between Remington and Flynn, and the potential fall-out as Flynn finds himself back in St. Louis for crossing the line one too many times.

Flynn Coleman knows better than to get involved with the client’s daughter but Remington Blair doesn’t make it easy, walking around naked, and desperately trying to seduce the man hired to ensure she is safe at all times. Remington Blair is a danger to herself but our heroine is starved for affection and pursues every available opportunity to get the attention she doesn’t get at home. Flynn Coleman never thought he would fall for Remington Blair but battling his feelings threatens to spiral out of control when Remington disappears, and the boys at Blackbridge Security are unable to locate the woman with whom Flynn will fall in love.

The relationship between Flynn and Remington begins as a job, a job Remington is determined to make miserable for our story line hero. Remington has a reputation of getting herself into trouble, and every security detail before Flynn has been unable to control the woman in question. Crossing the line is about to pull Flynn out of Remington’s life but Remington isn’t willing to sit back and let the world tear her down, one more time. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text-the sexual energy is palpable and hot. There are some scenes of spanking, used as punishment between our story line couple.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, many of whom we have met in previous story lines. We are reintroduced to security specialist and Blackbridge Security (BBS) owner Deacon Black, and Annalise Grimaldi (Hostile Territory #1), and IT specialist Wren Nelson and Whitney Nelson (Shot in the Dark 2) Finnegan Jenkins (BBS mechanical engineer) , Ignacio Torres, Jude Morris, Quinten Lake, Gaige, and Brooks, as well as Wren’s dirty mouthed African Grey parrot Puff Daddy.

CONTINGENCY PLAN is a story of family and relationships; disappointment and struggle; desperation and rejection; forgiveness and love. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is spicy and seductive; the characters are energetic, colorful and charismatic but it took a little convincing for me to warm up to our story line heroine. Her immature behavior and attitude left much to be desired.

Flynn Coleman is part of the Blackbridge Security team, with his set of skills he is perfect for any job they give him. But his latest job has him second-guessing what his bosses were thinking. He is nothing but a glorified babysitter.

Remington Blair is 20 years old and doesn't need a babysitter but her famous parents think she does. Well, she needs security anyway. But the way she acts, running, partying, and trying to ditch her security, she does need a babysitter. Her parents don't pay any attention to her, don't notice anything she does. All they see is what the tabloids show because they follow her everywhere.

When Flynn meets Remington, the first thing he wants to do is whip her because she acts just like a spoiled toddler who is in need of paddling for a tantrum, But the reaction she brings to his body is something he has to hide. He cannot let his feelings interfere with his job.

Can Flynn protect Remmy in a way he is meant to? What happens when they give in to the feelings building between them?

I really liked this story, the passion between Flynn and Remmy was sizzling from the moment they met. And I love the characters of the Blackbridge security team, especially Puff Daddy the African Gray Parrot, he is the best and funniest bird. I have enjoyed this series and cannot wait for the next one. I recommend them all, I hope you enjoy them too.

M/F Romance

Remington is used to being ignored. She knows that she lives a life of privilege and she's made it her mission to dodge the security that her mom and stepfather have placed on her. She likes using her body and charm on them to see how far she can push them. She also knows that her parents don't expect anything from her except to put on a good show for their friends and keep their image clean. Remington isn't really wanting to follow those rules. When she meets her new security, she doesn't expect to start to care for him.

Flynn is used to working security, but his new job isn't what he signed up for. Chasing after a spoiled girl is nothing he wants but could be everything he needs. While Flynn knows that mixing business with pleasure is a big no in his job, he can't help but feel a little bit sorry for Remington.

Remington and Flynn both find themselves on a path of self-discovery. They find kindred spirits in each other and despite all odds, they end up finding themselves too. This is a quick read but was more about the chase than true security. I wished that there had been more intrigue in their story. While it was sweet, it just didn't truly follow the line of what I was expecting. However, I can't wait to see what else comes of this series.

•• 1 star ••

I feel betrayed by all of the 5-star ratings that lured me into reading this book. I nearly DNF’d multiple times. Misplaced hope kept me trucking along.

I’ll briefly explain the 2 primary factors that turned me off in Contingency Plan:
(1) I was frustrated by the distorted timeline. The author treated mere hours as though the characters had spent weeks developing an attraction/infatuation. It was unrealistic.
(2) Both MCs were off-putting. FLYNN: Flynn’s character was poorly developed; from what was on the page, he mostly struck me as overbearing and immature. His explosive vacillation between stoic ice sculpture and Neanderthal who spouts luridly sexual things to Remington gave me whiplash. Not cute, especially when mixed in with his penchant for swooping in to grab or lift Remington off her feet when she’s not expecting it. It seemed like the author was alluding to a BDSM Dom/bratty sub dynamic but requisite conversations surrounding consent and limits were missing. Flynn came off as alarmingly presumptuous and domineering. I also didn’t understand his difficulty in *using his words* to express simple information like, “Hey, I am aware that tonight is your first time having sex,” or “I’ve been fired and will be leaving NY in the morning.” There was no real backstory to contextualize his profound challenges in communicating clearly in a romantic relationship. REMINGTON: Remington read like a sloppy portrayal of someone with borderline personality disorder. I felt like the invalidation, emotional neglect, and loneliness she experienced were so shallowly explored. I also didn’t appreciate that her behaviors, which were implied to be the product of these experiences, were demeaned by classifying them as “manipulating” and “attention-seeking.”

I’ll end with a side commentary spurred by language I noticed in this book. I’ve consistently observed that, in books featuring cishet romance, the male MC quickly begins using endearments like “baby” or “sweetheart,” whereas the female MC rarely does. To be clear, the use of endearments in relationships is not bothersome to me—in fact, I think it’s nice to have a special way of referring to one’s partner. It’s the *way* these endearments emerge in this genre that makes me feel a bit icky. They often debut early on in the interactions and endearments are not reciprocally used by the female. This leads me to feels like the man is using the terms to enforce ownership or power, or to sooth the ruffled feathers of the spooked, infantilized object of their lust. No, thanks.

The last thing Flynn wants to be doing is babysitting a spoiled little rich girl. Remington, the spoiled rich girl in question, may be spoiled and a rich girl, but she's got a lot going on inside her head that she never shows the outside world. She's so used to acting out to get the attention she doesn't get from her parents that she automatically assumes that's how she'll have to act around her new, hot bodyguard. Except Flynn is much more than some lughead hired to protect her. He could come to mean everything to her, if he can get around his issues, and if she can get around her own.

I certainly was not expecting these two to have so many issues. But I appreciated them because it gave their relationship a grounded feel even given their insanely hot chemistry. I've been loving this series so far, for its suspense, and the wonderful characters who fall so deep with each other, and this one just makes the series that much better. There's less suspense than the previous installments, but the relationship driven nature of Flynn and Remington's story is still entertaining, engaging reading.

I don't know whether to love or hate Flynn. Not gonna lie he's trod a very fine line with me!

I want to start off though by saying i love Remi! I mean seriously she needs a good bestie and i'm here for her. I just wanted to give her a hug and a lifetime of promised girls nights! Gah she broke my heart. Under the public image and her brat exterior she's so sweet. She just wants to be important to someone, anyone, and get some love. I felt so sorry for her. Her parents wound me up so bad i hope in book world they get a very public divorce and a lifetime of loneliness! Grrrr and then what does Flynn do? Well i'm not telling but he got me all kinda ragey at him.

Don't get me wrong. I know why things go down as they do but he knew her emotional state and that... that lets just say had me squeezing my reading device very tightly! In my opinion Remi didn't give him enough hell. Again i get why because basically she's a sweetheart but thats why she needs me for a bestie cause i'd have gone to town on him!

Now, reading the above you'd think i hated him. I didn't. But god he had me torn in two. I wanna hate him. I do really. But i don't and not sure why. I think the only thing that has appeased me is the fact he's gonna work his socks off every day for the rest of his book life to make sure Remi never feels like she did again. I'm hoping we get to see this through the rest of the series in the others books. I wanna see him be her b**** boy for life! Lol

Now i'm giving this 5 stars 100% because of all the above. It made me hurt. It made my heart clench in sorrow for Remi's life. It may not have been brutal and abusive but it was neglect and it slayed me. It made me cheer for her and love her. It made me hate/love Flynn. It made me care about it all and drew all the above outta me. Fantastic writing, absolutely brilliant even if probably for the first time the girl is the one for me! Lol

Love seeing flashes of the others guys and the tease for Ignatio had me trying to one click pre-order quicker than the page allowed! Ohhhhhhh i can't wait!

Great story i'd highly recommend. Get ready to meet your new best girl!

This was a fab read!

"She's fire, absolute destruction, and if I were a smart man, I'd turn around and walk out."

Remington Blair is not what she seems or what the paparazzi make her out to be. However, she's not going to make it easy for her parents to control her. She's woefully ill-equipped for life on her own in the world at large, so she has no choice but to live at home still. When the new security guy turns up, she's determined to make him uncomfortable and run him off, like all the others before him, so her parents will eventually get the message that she doesn't need a babysitter, but she's unprepared for her own reaction to Flynn Coleman.

"This woman is starved for attention, and the barbarian in me wants to lavish her with it."

Flynn detests his new assignment. When he meets her, he knows he needs out of the arrangement, as he realises that she's a danger to him. He's been down this road before and he's not willing to risk losing his job again. She pushes all his buttons in all the ways, but he's surprised to realise that there's more to her than meets the eye. She's a young woman crying out for friendship, love and support. Unfortunately, they are from two different worlds.

"You can stay as long as you want...A night, a month, the rest of your life."

I loved this story. It was fun, super sexy, and pulled at the heartstrings. Flynn is gorgeous! He was stoic on the surface but smouldered beneath. I adored his intense desire for Remi and how hard he resisted her. I melted at how well he understood her. My heart hurt for Remi - she was so lonely and alone. She had every material thing she could want but lacked real human connection. I admired her courage once she'd made her mind up on her course of action. A fab read!

The sexy men of Blackbridge Security have returned, but this time instead of chasing danger Flynn Coleman, former FBI agent, has been sent to sent to chase a young starlet around NYC.

Flynn is used to undercover operations, investigation, and danger around every corner. What he's not thrilled about on this new mission is babysitting a twenty year old and basically keeping her locked in her mansion. This is not putting his skills to use, not to mention the strong pull he feels towards her, which he refuses to act upon. He's been there and lost his career over a woman and he never plans on having that happen again.

Remington Blair has only had people in her life that use her for her fame, her money, or her status. She's never had anyone, not even her parents, spend time with her just because they want to. When Flynn arrives as her new bodyguard and he shows her a side that she's never experienced, she decides that the chase is finally worth running for.

These are two people who both have huge trust issues in their past, but who also love the cat and mouse game...it pretty much makes them perfect for each other, if they can learn to trust one another. Remi brings out Flynns growly possessive side, which is super sexy and on the flip side for the first time in Remi's life she learns how to care for someone else, which is also huge step in taking care of herself.

While Contingency Plan doesn't have as many suspenseful moments as the predecessor novels it is still a wonderful story with a slow burn that will warm your insides as their story unfolds. Also, like the past Blackbridge novels, it is full of great humor and lots of great looking men to drool over.

4.5 stars overall

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Remington is used to being ignored. She knows that she lives a life of privelege and she's made it her mission to dodge the security that her mom and step father have placed on her. This is the 3rd book in the Blackbridge Security Series and Ms. James is keeping things interesting. Flynn and Remington are a little explosive but when the sparks settle they are just what each other needed.

Flynn drew the short stick and is placed in New York to babysit a famous actors 20 year old daughter. This is the last thing that he wants to be doing, he would much prefer some danger and adventure. He quickly finds himself in a war of the minds with his feelings. He can't cross that line between employee, it will only get him in trouble.

Remington is starving for attention. Her famous parents are never around and don't really have much to do with her but she is imprisoned in her own home. She has all the luxuries a girl could want but her heart desires some real friends. Some human interaction once in a while would be nice and not just from her security detail. Will she be able to give the new guy a run for his money?

The last thing Remi expected was for Flynn to understand her so well. He seems to be able to read between the lines. But just when she thinks maybe just maybe, he is gone just like everyone else. Will Remington go after what she really wants or will she stay in the comforts of her parents money?

So excited to see what is next in the series.

The Blackbridge Security guys for the win

Another fantastic addition to the wonderful BlackBridge Security series, with each instalment I fall more in love with Marie’s writing, and her fabulous characters.

We haven’t seen enough of Flynn in the previous books, so I was excited to see what he would bring to the team. I loved how he couldn’t handle his feelings for Remington. The attraction and tension was bursting from every page. I really enjoyed how their relationship developed, the banter between them was a fun side to see, and the possessive and caring sides of Flynn are a definite added bonus!

Remington is sweet at heart, even though at times she acts bratty, the way her character grows and evolves throughout, is one of the things I loved most, I really liked her character, she’s the perfect heroine for Flynn, who’s older and more focused, but definitely not wiser.

The pair both make mistakes, but I loved how they managed to get through. The heat between them is obvious, but it’s the depth of their feelings (when they stop denying them) that got me the most.

I can't wait for more from this series! I’m so excited for Ignacio’s story! The Blackbridge Security boys definitely hold they key to my heart.

I'm in love with the Blackbridge Security series, especially since it's been nonstop laughs with a kicker of suspense, and a dash of romance, so totally my jam to be honest. Flynn is a former FBI agent who now works at this amazing security company but his newest assignment really isn't his speed. See, he's basically a babysitter to a soon to be 21 year old who has famous parents. Remington is shown no affection, and is tired of being holed up so she's out of control with whatever security they give her so most of them hit the road quickly. Flynn isn't like that, but he is struggling with her because she's totally outrageous, and since she's decided that he's the best entertainment she's had for some time, let the games begin. As the story goes along, the sparks start flying but he's doing everything he can to cross that line so the push & pull gets going. I'm so glad that Puff Daddy made an appearance as he's my favorite pet EVER since he always totally steals the show every time. So, you really want to see how this all plays out but you'll have to hit your one click buttons to get started! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I am seriously loving this series. It just keeps on getting better and better, especially Flynn and Remington's story!

I love the two of them! The chemistry and banter between these two had me glued to the screen. I couldn't put it down. Remington's known as the daughter of Hollywood's star couple. She has everything she could ever want except for her parents' attention. There's more to her than what's on the surface and Flynn's the only one who sees it. They both have reservations and struggle to trust people even though they are undeniably attracted to each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one and I can't wait for Ignacio's story!

The Contingency Plan is a sexy slow burn that had me swooning as I fell in love with Flynn and Remi! Flynn has abs for days, but it’s his serious, sexy smolder that stole my heart. Remi is broken in more ways than one and I love her sass and fire as she hides behind her pain. The first time he called Remington baby I felt his love deep in my soul. You need to read this book for the appointment, the flu, the dance, the butterfly, the video and the chase alone. I would let Flynn catch me forever!

If I knew I was going to have this guy Flynn chase me in an awesome game of cat and mouse, I'd exercise more so I could at least give him the thrill of the chase. WOW!
I have to say, my favorite parts of the book always star Puff Daddy. I love that bird. He steals the show every time.
The story is a nice read and the only drama is what is created between Flynn and Remi. A book about finding love and following through but learning who you are and standing on your own.

This was a DNF for me. I made it to Chapter 6. I was so disgusted by Remington's behavior I didn't care what happened to her.

It irritated me that Flynn was so attracted to someone that behaved like her. Her mommy and daddy issues needed to be handled by her therapist. I don't enjoy books where people escape the consequences for their scrappy behavior.

The thing that really irritated me was this book was highly recommended AND I paid for it. I was so sick of her whining about herself.

I loved the premise of this book with the alpha bodyguard following around the spirited female. The cat and mouse between these two definitely kept my attention and had me longing to know what more was going to happen. This book has all the burn you come to love in her books and I would recommend for the read

Flynn is now one of my favorite Heroes! Besides the fact he looks like Henry Cavill he is sweet and totally swoon worthy! The only thing that could have made this book amy better would be a pregnancy 😏 if I could give it more stars I would!

DNF. I read the other reviews in hopes of someone mentioning the age gap but nobody seemed bothered by it.
Well, I was. A lot. The female lead is 20(!) years old, you guys! Was really nobody else feeling icky about this? Judging by her inner monologue and the issues she has with her parents she still seems incredibly immature and just not ready for a serious relationship, ESPECIALLY not with an older guy.
I also don’t like the trope of the romantic interest curing the main character’s psychological issues and substituting the missing parental figures or friends. It gives the romantic partner too much power and I don’t find power imbalances particularly romantic. I like an independent heroine. The author is trying to solve Remington’s problems by “giving” her a boyfriend and I’m not here for it.
Also, as somebody in the reviews also mentioned, Flynn calling Remington “Baby” early on is a big “ew, brother, ew what’s that” for me. Gives me chills.
And, like I mentioned before, I couldn’t enjoy the spicy scenes because, in my mind, the FC is just a teenager and it felt creepy.
A lot of the reviews mention that the FC was unlikeable but, I think they’re missing that this girl is really young and her frontal lobe still isn’t completely developed.

I borrowed Contingency Plan ~ Blackbridge Security ~ Book 3, by Marie James from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Amazon.

Flynn Coleman, second in command isn't happy when his boss sends him to New York to 'babysit' the daughter of a Hollywood couple that has a problem staying out of trouble. Remington Blair is almost twenty-one, totally ignored by her parents and acts the way she does because she feels so alone. (Her Mom and Stepdad treat her like she isn't important and although she lives in a mansion, she is verbally abused and most ignored and has been her entire life.

Flynn has a hard time resisting her, although she drives him crazy with her escape artist skills. She runs, he chases and finds her. She finds him attractive, hard to resist and she loves the chase just as much as he does. The press she gets is a problem, the so called friends she has are just using her and her parents will completely cut her off if she leaves the mansion.

He crosses the line with her, he is fired by her parents, he leaves. She runs away form home, finds Flynn and they search for repairing their connection.. Loved how creative she is, how sexy she is and how he understands.

This was ok! I think the author forgot a plot point that annoyed me the ENTIRE way through the book. Flynn was hired to be Remington's personal security detail because - as it was explained at the beginning of the book - her parents are famous actors and there have been written threats against her and her family. I kept waiting for that to come back into play (it was brought up more than once at the beginning as Flynn requested more cameras, was made aware of the changes she made to camera positions resulting in blind spots, etc) and then it just ceased to exist. Other than that, this was fun - if predictable - and Jacob Morgan's British accent didn't bother me the way I thought it might (I've never minded him doing a few bits of dialogue in another accent but was concerned about listening to a whole book in that accent - I honestly thought I'd get annoyed and have to turn it off. I didn't... but I am concerned the Irish guy will get a whole book and I'm not sure my brain can handle it haha)

Off to the next!
