Book 3 in the Burning for the Bravest series featuring New York City firemen who love hard and make love harder! Series is meant to be read in order.
He'd never had a problem getting what he'd wanted. Until her.
Ryan
As the baby of the family—and being blessed with heart-stopping good looks—Ryan Hogan was used to getting what he wanted, especially women, and his career as a New York City fireman only made him more of a chick magnet.
Until one day on the job changed everything. He found himself in a hospital bed, and his nurse captivated him, but she seemed to be the only woman to ever be impervious to his charm.
One thing to know about Ryan Hogan, though: He doesn't give up.
Zoe
Her job as an emergency room nurse provided more than enough excitement to keep her distracted from the anchor around her ankles. So when one of her patients, a sexy fireman, seems determined to make her his, she fights against her attraction with everything she's got. Because the last time she allowed a man to distract her, her life went up in flames.
She wouldn't make that mistake again. She left North Carolina for a fresh start in New York City, and that's what she was going to get.
One thing about the past, though: It always catches up.
Kaye Kennedy is the author of contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels featuring everyday heroes who love hard and make love harder. If you like steamy and soulful reads that will break your heart and put it back together again, then her stories are for you. In her books, you can always expect a happily ever after that kisses and tells.
She earned her degree in English Literature and taught college composition & literature classes before switching gears entirely and becoming an entrepreneur, starting multiple businesses. While originally from New York, Kaye now lives on the Florida coast with her rescue mutt, Zeus, whose begging to be put in a book has finally paid off (Read: Burning for Secrets). When she isn’t writing, she’s out paddling on the water, indulging in a beach read, feeding her wanderlust, or checking out a craft brewery.
Okay whew I think this one was my fav! Literally loved it so much, it was just so perfect and a perfect balance of angst and love and romance. I literally felt my heart breaking for Ryan at one point (but I’m gonna be honest and say I wanted her to not show up so it could break a little more, iykyk).
Ryan, good ol’ baby boy Ryan. Ryan is the youngest brother in the Hogan family and undoubtedly the wildest one. He’s the tallest, standing at 6’6 and is just such a charmer. He’s hot and he knows it. He’s also dang good at his job as a fireman. But one day, something goes wrong and it costs him a lot.
After falling through a roof and getting severe burns, Ryan is now in rehab trying to get better, and all with the help of his nurse, Zoe. From the get go Ryan makes it known that he’s attracted to Zoe, but she can’t date or won’t. The thing is, she’s celibate and has been for 8 years.
Of course they grow closer overtime while they spend so much time together while Ryan recovers, and it’s only a matter of time before he breaks her down and convinces her to go out with him. Happily every after, the end. Jk.
Ryan and Zoe are both dealing with their own internal problems. Ryan has scars that he thinks are ugly and make him ugly, and now he won’t wear anything less than a long sleeved shirt. Zoe’s sister is a drug addict that she has to take care of all while making herself emotionally unavailable. Obviously angst is bound to happen and it’s honestly so good that I felt it deep in my soul. I really felt for Ryan and just wanted to hug him.
The one thing about these books that I don’t like is the insane amount of typos and errors. In every book there’s been misspellings, random added words, missing words from sentences and just sentences that don’t make sense. At some points it does actually take me out of the reading because I’m trying to figure out what is supposed to be said. So far all the books have had all of these errors, but this one was by far the worst.
Aside from that, we do get some updates on the previous couples, Dylan and Autumn are getting closer to their wedding and Jesse and Lana get engaged! Jace’s book is next and then Kyle’s (who I’m really looking forward to!)
Ryan a firefighter falls for Nurse Zoe but he doesn’t think this will be a one-nighter
Ryan the youngest of his family of firefighters thought he was good with his bachelor ways, one night stands. No way he was gonna fall for a woman like 2 of his brothers but when he finds himself in the hospital he meets Zoe and he has to have her.. Zoe wasn’t looking for love. She has made herself celibate, closed off to anything that might resemble a relationship but when she has to treat a firefighter that comes into the ER. She tries her best to keep her feelings at bay, but her body just isn’t getting the message. As she treats Ryan both as an inpatient and when he goes home she finds a safeness with Ryan and finds herself opening herself to him. Things she has never shared with anyone. Can she let all her defenses down and open up to a relationship? You will Iove Ryan and Zoe’s story.
Ryan and Zoe are a slow burn that is worth the wait. They have a magnetic chemistry that keeps the pages turning. Ryan used to be a player but when he met smart, independent Zoe, he fell hard. It was refreshing to see them build each other up and give each other confidence.
"You make me want to be the person you deserve, every single day"
Reading about Zoe's struggle to get past a traumatic event from her past and dealing with her sister's struggles is heartbreaking. This book takes you through all the emotions and I fell in love with Ryan and Zoe (and all the Hogans!). These stories are full of recurring characters that are well-rounded and loveable.
Another phenomenal book by Kaye Kennedy! Her knowledge of the topics and the research she puts into the stories is evident. Highly recommend this series.
Ryan and Nurse Zoe was an amazing book. This is the 3rd book in the series I would recommend starting at book one so the characters are familiar to you.
This was a sweet slow burn. I loved that Ryan was so patient for Zoe and didnt rush her for more than what she was ready for.
I loved Zoe strong independence and ached for her, with her against the world. It was just her trying to juggle it all and take care of her sister.
I loved how Ryan's patience won out and that he got her to open up and fall in love.
I was scared towards the end but glad they worked out her anxiety.
I would recommend Ryan and Nurse Zoe's story. It was sweet and a slow burn!
Okay... Jesse I love you but Ryan may have taken 1st place😅 - This is definitely a slow burn but best believe when it happens it's worth it👀. Ryan is such a sweetheart and there is something so special about the moment he and Zoe shared about his accident and his confidence🥲. I loved this couple so much. Ofc it's also a forbidden or taboo romance nurse and patient but wow I loved it. Can't wait to see their love progress and hopefully we see more of Lauren in the future too💕
O my word! I plowed through reading this book, Ryan and Zoe were so fun to read!! I just loved how cute they both were together and how shameless Ryan was when he was flirting with her in the beginning! My heart broke for Zoe with her background and I loved that Ryan kept chipping at her walls until she finally allowed him in.
This was one of my favorite quotes from the book: "I didn’t quite understand what was happening between Zoe and me, but I knew that, whatever it was, it was worth pursuing. She was a part of my life and no matter what, she always would be. Because I was going to fight for her. One day, I’d give Zoe the happily ever after she deserved." - Ryan
Once again, loved the glimpses of the Hogan family and loved how they accepted Zoe with open arms. I really love how Kaye develops these stories! Even though each book focuses on a different hero/heroine, it still feels like you're watching/reading a family saga because the stories just flow together and there's no real time lapses! I've only read three of the books so far but I love how Kaye's epilogues don't start at the beginning of the next book. Most of the epilogues in a series start off from the very beginning of the next book but Kaye builds the anticipation by making you wait for the scene in the epilogue!
This is the third book in the Burning for the Bravest Series featuring New York City firemen. If you like alpha males with soft centers who love hard and make love harder, then this series is for you! The series is meant to be read in order, so be sure to start with the first book, Burning for More (https://amzn.to/3fK5z0u).
Here's a preview of Ryan and Zoe's love story: I looked through the door to Ryan's hospital room and saw him sleeping peacefully. Not wanting to wake him, I eased the door open and crept inside. I checked the monitor, noting all of his levels. Noticing that everything seemed to be good, I intended to go get what I needed to prep him, but instead I found myself staring. His shaggy golden hair was matted to his forehead and he still had some dirt or soot on his face. My gaze fell to his lips, which were slightly parted. I watched the subtle rise and fall of his chest, noticing again just how massive his shoulders were. His traps protruded high above his collar bone, continuing in a line down to his biceps, which were mountainous. He must have incredible strength. When I’d cleaned his chest earlier, I had noticed how hard he felt beneath my fingers. His chest was completely shaved, showing off the swell of his pecs. I pulled the blanket back, leaving it folded at his waist, so I could access his injuries, and I had to resist the urge to touch the ripple of abs. He had eight bulges and I found myself actually shaking my head. Men didn’t look like that in real life. His flirtation earlier had most definitely been the result of the pain meds. There was no way he would ever be interested in me. He probably had a girlfriend who resembled a Victoria’s Secret model. Heck, she probably was a Victoria’s Secret model. “Like what you see?” My hands flew to my chest. I gasped and jumped back. “I didn’t know you were awake.” “I can pretend to go back to sleep if you want to keep checking me out, Nurse Zoe.” I felt my face heat up. “I was not checking you out. I was evaluating your injuries.” He chuckled. “Yeah, okay.” “I was.” He winked. “Whatever you say Nurse Zoe.” I smoothed out my scrubs. “How are you feeling?” His fingers had been discreetly searching for the morphine button, but they paused at my question. “Never better.” I rolled my eyes at him as I located the PCA button and placed it into his hand. His mouth inched into a slight grin. “Maybe I’ll just test this out again.” He pressed the button. “Great idea.” I turned toward the workstation and returned with a bin of water and a sponge. His eyes clouded with mischief. “You gonna give me a sponge bath, Nurse Zoe?” I dipped the sponge into the water and squeezed out the excess before bringing it to his hair. “Not a full one. I just figured you’d be more comfortable if your hair wasn’t so matted. I’ll get the soot off of your face, too.” I ran the sponge over his hair and used my fingers to comb through his golden locks. Up close, I noticed that he wasn’t as blonde as I was, and there were actually some dark and some reddish strands weaved through. “Feel free to give me a full sponge bath anytime you want.” He sure was persistent. I probably should’ve been irritated by his advances, but I felt safe with him. His flirtatiousness was kind of fun and felt harmless. “We’ll take care of that later.” I didn’t tell him that sponge baths weren’t a part of my job. I dipped back into the water and moved on to his face. He let me work in silence, but I felt his eyes boring into me. As I ran the sponge along his jawline, his right hand came up and wrapped around my wrist, holding me in place. “Nurse Zoe?” My eyes fell on his icy blue ones, which were filled with a million unspoken emotions. He was more complex than he outwardly made himself seem and I wanted to know more about the mystery behind those eyes. “Thank you,” he whispered. “For what?” “For taking care of me.” He was scared–I could see it–but I knew his expression of gratitude was as close as he’d come to admitting it. I nodded slowly and grinned in response, indicating that I understood what he meant. He stared up at me and his lips tightened, as though he were at war with himself over whether or not he should say more. I held his gaze and my breathing quickened. My stomach flopped and I felt exposed and vulnerable, as though I were standing in front of him completely naked with all my emotional scars on display. My phone vibrated in my pocket, but we both ignored it. I clenched my jaw as his fingers trailed gently up and down my forearm, leaving goosebumps in their wake. After swallowing the lump in my throat, I blinked a few times, forcing myself to keep the tears at bay. I wasn’t a crier. I didn’t get vulnerable. Ever. I kept people at a distance and I let them see what I wanted them to see, but for some unfathomable reason, I couldn’t bring myself to look away from Ryan. My eyes whispered all my secrets and as terrified as that made me, it was also as though Ryan was taking one of the weights off of my shoulders that I’d been carrying on my own for years. I clenched my jaw tighter, willing myself not to get emotional. My phone vibrated again and this time it forced my attention away from mt patient, and I was grateful for that. After diverting my eyes, I lifted the sponge from his face and placed it into the water bin before sliding my glove off and reaching into my pocket. I gritted my teeth. “Excuse me a second.”
If you are a nurse, specifically an ER nurse this book is horrible. The character was called Nurse Zoe. Ummm no. We don’t do that.we don’t call any nurse nurse and their name. Not since the 1800s. Also the editing was missing a medical professional. Antibiotic is one word not hyphenated. So many more things that made it hard to read. It was inaccurate. And if the writer was in the field (like she says she was) she would know the things that were wrong. I liked the first 2 books but found them a bit gloried. I was really hoping for real life careers with the fantasy of firefighting or nursing. It was too difficult to complete. If you are not medical it’s probably fine.
2.5⭐️ Started out with such potential for me. I’m a medical drama fiend. I was absolutely loving it. But the story kinda goes off the rails for me in the second half. So while I really wanted to love it, I didn’t. I probably should have DNF but I was feeling ok. Basically meh about it until around 90% and I couldn’t bring myself to DNF then. That’s on me. My take away is, Ryan deserved better.
This is book three in the Burning for the Bravest series. This is Ryan and Zoe’s story and I absolutely loved it. I’d say this is my favorite book of the series. There’s just something about Ryan that you can’t help by love. He’s a bit of a player but at the same time he’s seeing his brothers find love and it’s making him feel a bit lonely and ready to find someone special for himself. While this book reads as a standalone, I highly recommend you read the first two books in the series. This series is about a family of firefighters so they’re kind of interconnected. They are very well written, entertaining, and steamy. You won’t regret picking them up. This has been a series that if I could I would give it more than five stars. Kaye Kennedy has a way of telling a story that pulls you in and keeps you engages throughout the whole book. I always have a hard time putting her books down. I can’t wait for book four it’s going to be interesting watching Jace fall.
Ryan and Zoe meet when Ryan is hurt on the job and ends up in the ER. He ends up with some pretty bad burns on his arm. It just so happens that Zoe, who normally works the burn unit is working a shift in the ER when he comes in. Ryan takes a shine to Zoe from the get-go and is determined to get her to go out on a date with him when she’s done being his nurse. Zoe on the other hand doesn’t want to go out with him, well she’s determined to convince herself that she wants nothing to do with him. That she doesn’t have the time for dating. She’s busy with work and she’s dealing with a younger sister who is an addict. Zoe blames herself for that. Bit by bit Ryan works his way into her life. She’s the only person he’s ever opened up to about why he’s a player and he’s managed to get her to open up too. They really build up a good friendship before Ryan finally gets her to go on a date. Can Ryan convince Zoe to take a chance on him and start a relationship?

„Burning for Her.
Holy moly!!!! You might think after reading burning for more that that was it with the mystery and action packed story line but noooooo Burning for her is just as amazing and awesome and gobsmacking as the others I absolutely fell in love with Ryan and zoe from the beginning - they are absolutely perfect together My favourite scene is when Ryan returns back to the fire house and is put on the roof again and when he went home to zoe and declared his love to her and that's when they first made out The thing I love about this book is how zoe swore herself to celibacy due to the god forsaken circumstance that had happened to her before for her first time - it was made very realistic - usually in romance books it's just usually a fantasy or a desire or dream but Kaye has written this book in a way that I personally have related to it and have connected with is what I think is important when reading a book especially as good as this one Also I love how she's included some hard situations in here like Lauren with her addiction and zoe swearing of dating and love completely and how throughout the book, as characters, they have developed so much and it's nice to see that change and it goes back to the one thing I always say - no matter what circumstances or obstacles life throws at you youll be able to win love over all the time I also love the ice ring scene when they go ice skating - it was adorable and cute But honestly I cannot wait to read Kyle's story and I just really need to know who the lucky person will be to break through his shell and show him love I definitely recommend this book to everyone to read Enjoy Xx
"Burning for Her: Ryan" ist der dritte Teil der "Burning for the Bravest" Reihe.

They all said, they would never settle down to one woman. Then in one accident during a fire call for Firefighter Hogan his life forever. His mother & older siblings want to know he will survive. In comes in Nurse Zoe Powers. - She is strong, determined, a nurturer & kept me motivated when I thought I couldn't handle my burns. She was a defiant beauty. I found her so attractive, but I'm a patient & cannot ask her out on a date. Not yet... But I will I decide I will be her friend. But she is close knit. Something in her past has made her to be serious & responsible for every one. I don't just want to get her into my bed I want her in my life permanently. Well, I am determined to be gentlemen and allow her to remove my walls and be vulnerable with my feelings. My god open up to feelings. Read Zoe and Ryan love story.
Emotional and heartfelt: It was lovely catching up with the Hogan brothers and getting to know Ryan who was incorrigible yet totally lovable! This book was a real treasure as the main characters had a vulnerability about them that made them approachable and relatable. I also loved the complexity and depth of emotion that was portrayed. After being injured on the job, firefighter Ryan was taken to hospital where he was cared for by lovely Nurse Zoe. He was relentless in his pursuit of her and I liked how tender and patient he was with her. I could really feel the bond and connection between Ryan and Zoe and thought they were both so deserving of love and happiness. I thought the author did a good job of integrating sufficient medical and fire related information with regular dialogue so that whilst informative, it still flowed well. I also appreciated how it incorporated the impact addiction can have on families and it highlighted some of the many struggles that they face. This has been a great series and I can't wait to get my next fix with their friend Jace's story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is Ryan and Zoe's story and you will love it like I did!!
Ryan Hogan is the baby of the family. At 27 years old, he can get away with just about anything. His good looks, cocky attitude, and the fact that he's a firefighter means that there's no shortage of women in his bed. He's never been turned down for a night of fun; that is until he meets Zoe.
When Ryan and his crew are fighting a big fire, he falls through the roof and ends up in the burn unit of the hospital. That's where he meets Nurse Zoe Powers. Zoe is a burn unit specialist. She knows exactly what Ryan is going through. She gets assigned to his case and becomes attached to the flirty fireman.
Ryan worries that without his good looks to rely on, no woman will ever be interested in him. They all think he's incapable of feelings but that's what he gives them. Because he refuses to be vulnerable to anyone other than his family.
Meeting Zoe changes that. But she has her own demons to fight. Can he convince her that he's worth the chance?
Book 3 in the Burning for the Bravest series and it just keeps getting better. This is about the baby of the family Ryan who is also a firefighter. Ryan draws the ladies in with his good looks and is used to getting what he wants. That all changed the day he was fighting a fire and woke up in the hospital. His nurse, Zoe isn't looking for love, hook ups or anything. She works long hours, has obligations and feels she doesn't deserve more especially after a traumatic event that happened in her life years ago. This story brings up the struggles with drug addiction and how it affects her life and also dealing with burn victims and the struggles they go through as well. This is a slow burn with so much chemistry. Also love seeing the past characters interacting in the story. Kaye has a way of making her characters come to life and is very realistic. Can't wait for the next book! 5 stars
This series is my all time favorite this year! The characters are so well developed and relatable. The stories have all the feels and each is uniquely wonderful.
Ryan Hogan is a firefighter and a playboy. He gets injured fighting a fire and is burned. He does not know how to deal with his injury because he has always been known for his looks.
Zoe Powers is an RN in the hospital burn center. She has a younger sister she had to raise after their parents death in a fire. She has been celibate for over seven years. She blames herself for her parents deaths.
She becomes Ryan's nurse and he shamelessly flirts with her. She eventually agrees to date him after he is released from her care. He helps her get her sister into a local rehab facility. They have to overcome baggage on both their parts and get their HEA. Highly recommend.

I love all of the Hogan's and the stories in this series have been great reads and this latest offering is no different This time we get Ryan's story
Ryan has led a charmed life Not only is he the baby of the family so was a little spoilt but he is gorgeous to look at and a fireman to boot So he has never ever struggled where the ladies are concerned Then he meets Zoe she is a emergency nurse at the hospital where he has been treated and she is totally immune to his charms. or is she, it may be just a case of she has no intentions of giving in after all a gorgeous man destroyed her life once before and she has learned her lesson. Ryan has seen his brothers fall in love and he wants that as well and he is sure that Zoe is the one for him slowly he works his way into her life and her heart Can they have a future together You will have to read to see
This author writes well, so you can feel all the emotions. Her stories are interesting and usually her characters connect in a steamy fun way. As a nurse I have to say the medical scenes in the book were done well and realistic. But I feel Kaye Kennedy fell short with this story. Zoe’s constant hold out with Ryan just took away from the story because it went on way too long…. For the entire story!!!. Zoe’s inability to be in a relationship with Ryan because of what happened in the past with her parents is really out there and rather silly, especially as it led to her celibacy for most of her adult life. No adult would believe having sex would cause bad things to happen, not an intelligent one anyway. Doesn’t mean I won’t read other books by this author, but I couldn’t get into this one.
Burning for Her is the third book in Kaye Kennedy’s exciting and passionate Burning for the Bravest series. There is absolutely nothing as sexy as a man who devotes his life to rescuing others, and the Harper Brothers are all that and so much more! So when the “baby” of the family is trying to find his feet, using the best tools he has in his charisma and devastating good looks is the way to go. But Zoe is a no-nonsense woman and his smooth moves are falling short in capturing the one woman he could actually see a future with. Burning for Her has a great storyline and engaging characters that will keep the reader riveted to the story till the last page is turned.

Solid 4.5 star I loved how Ryan meets Zoe when he is vulnerable so she gets to see him at his worst and he gets to see there is nothing wrong with not always having the tough and nothing bothers him attitude. The struggle they both go through with Ryan having to heal and accept that he will now have scars from his accident and Zoe feeling alone in the world while also carrying the burden of her sisters demands and addiction. You fall in love with Ryan and Zoe and go through the highs and lows with them hoping they can find the strength in themselves and each other and see how perfect they are together, as well get even closer to the Hogan Family.
Ryan is a firefighter who gets burned on the job. In the hospital, he meet Zoe as his nurse and over the time spent in the burn unit, they get a little closer. Their backgrounds are full of issues and trauma, but slowly they work to get through to each other. The relationship is a roller coaster with her sister having issues with drugs. Family and friends are just the support they need to get through their worries and feelings. Love is deep with these two and the extended family will not let them stray.

This is the third book in the series and it does not disappoint. When Ryan is injured in a fire, his world he knows he knows it has changed. Zoe is a smart, determined nurse who wants to move on from her past. Ryan tries to get Zoe to go out with him, but she continues to turn him down. Zoe and Ryan have a slow burn romance, where they grow as friends before more.
Burning for Her will pull you in from the first page and keep you there with each turn of the page.

This is the 3rd book in this series, and my favorite of them all!! My heart hurt for Zoe, and the hand life had delt her at such a young age, the responsibility she had to overtake, and how she blamed herself for things so out of her control. Ryan was so different from what I expected, and although at 1st he seemed shallow, I could understand the definite difference from who he was with his family, and who his firefighter coworkers saw. When he loves, he loves deeply. His patience and love for Zoe is awesome!!
Coming from a personal history of being a burn unit nurse I was drawn into the story of Ryan and Zoe and they blew me away. This was a difficult story due to the incredibly painful history Zoe had coming in and the emotional baggage Ryan developed after his accident. But as always with the books in this series, there's a happily ever after.
Kaye Kennedy did a good job on this story, Burning For Her had a strong plot that was written well. Ryan and Zoe were two people that were meant for each other. The connection they shared was strong, their chemistry was steamy, they were good together. This was a good story. Thanks, Kaye Kennedy. Good work :)
An absolutely fantastic, fast pace, entertaining, and captivating read. A slow burn that is well written, relatable, engaging, and emotionally deep with drama, ups and downs, and more. The characters are good together and you will love them. A really good read; strongly recommended!
