They came to my door and I knew right away that that was it. I knew that day was coming and still made no attempt to hide what had been done. The police ask their questions and I don’t answer. My answers won’t make them understand… maybe you will.
Rayne lives in the Arizona desert, free to leave her house whenever she wants, she chooses not to risk death by sweltering sun demons. Instead, she stays safely indoors with a computer and all the words she knows, slapping them together in any which way she chooses in the moment. Often gory, sometimes erotic. She loves the limitless boundaries of writing, and tends to push them toward extreme.

What a novella! A woman falls in love with her teacher. They marry. Luck changes when he drives against a telephone pole distracted by erotic poses she made on the phone. Being paraplegic the former loving husband turns into a monster. Their relationship was based on sex not it is based on mutual hate. Will his wife survive his abusive attacks? Or will she hit back?... Hard, at parts even disgusting story full of violence, abuse and revenge. Well written, compelling you can't guess what comes next. Really recommended!
What a numbingly sombre read.. There's a fine line between love and hate.. when it's crossed it can have deadly consequences. I don't really fan for any author but with Rayne I just might.
3.5 stars. This was good. Touched on some really powerful themes involving abuse, revenge, and codependency. Collette, our lead, was just an ignorant young girl pulled into this terrible situation with Matthew. You truly disliked him immensely from the start. Everything about him was just unlikeable and disgusting. And you're left conflicted about how Collette responded to his actions throughout, which was a fun dynamic for the reader. The biggest pitfall here was the lack of development. Things sort of felt very abbreviated and rushed through, leaving the story just with a general aura of being incomplete. Again, I really did enjoy the content, but this needed to do a deeper dive for the desired reaction. Not necessarily making this some lengthy or prolonged experience, but just some additional details and emotional depth for our lead, who had limitless potential. Not without some issues, this was still a good effort by Rayne Havok.
This was a great read, captivating and a story you could actually read in the papers from being true. How consequences can lead to further developments, that a distraught mind can turn you into and make you behave. Great storyline and characters that you could be your neighbour, colleague etc etc. Loved it, and I would definitely recommend.
Brilliant!! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!! I loved this tale of what can happen when you push a woman too far....😉 Gory, brutal and also emotional, I felt for the main character! Rayne does it again! 🖤
This one hits in the heart muscle. One of Rayne Havok's (as I've read, to date) most emotional stories. Still disgusting, mind. Don't get me wrong. But I saw something in these words. Tear-jerking stuff. Five stars.
Well we get to learn what is like being trapped in a loveless relationship and even the strongest love can eventually fade away. When that fades away the ugliness comes out of these characters. This story is packed with extreme anger, abuse, revenge and of course with a splash of death and gore.
Oh this one was brilliant..Abused and vengeful after her husbands accident turns him in to a monster Colette does unimaginably things to him..I absolutely loved this.
Left me speechless. Again, Rayne isn't afraid to throw in a taboo scenario. I know, I KNOW, I shouldn't feel bad but I do because there's a defenseless aspect.
Damn I read this one fast. This story was about love , the loss of that love, and vengeance. Awesome fast paced and doesn't let up. Reading a Rayne Havok story is always a good reminder to never ever ever get on a womans bad side😂😂😂. Another kick ass read.
Again, gentlemen, be nice to Rayne, lol. An almost romance, except for the twisted lady. I really liked this one. As with Killstreme, I loved the girl power! I cheered, I had chills, I loved every word. Rayne’s books grab you and don’t let go until you’ve read every one you have
i went into this one a little bit blind. i’d read the summary before i bought it but didn’t remember what it’d said when i started reading. i could’ve read the back, but i had every intention of being shocked.
and was i!
rayne is great at the hot disgusting stuff but she is also great at the evil disgusting stuff.
Collette married the love of her life: her high school english teacher. and they were happy, endlessly craving each other. until her husband, Matthew, was in a car accident. ultimately caused by her. they frequently videochatted during his drives home, usually for her to do sexy things for him to get him ready for her as soon as he got home. but this time, he was distracted, he plowed into a telephone pole and was rendered a paraplegic with no feeling from the chest down (somehow still able to use his arms which i’m still kind of confused about but i don’t know much about paralyzation). this turned him into a man Collette didn’t know and couldn’t deal with. he was mean, abusive, resentful of her. he beat her, and in return she hurt him where he couldn’t feel it. stabbing him in the back. literally. until one day she’d had enough, and made him pay for what he’d done to her.
i was very surprised and only slightly grossed out by what Collette did to her husband. but i was more surprised at the way her husband changed after his accident. it was like day and night and he had definitely taken to the darker side.
all in all, a good quick read that i’m glad i invested in. again, Rayne, you’re doing it right!

My favorite from Rayne so far and I’ve read quite a few. I found Colette’s character fascinating. What would I do if I was in her horrible situation? If you like thought provoking story telling and extreme horror this book is for you!
Motivation for reading - I bought this after seeing numerous mentions of Rayne Havok on the Books of Horror group on Facebook. I haven't read any extreme horror in a while and this short novella seemed like a good entry point, and it sure was. The story focuses on a married couple whose relationship changes for the far worse after a car accident. I found the descriptions of the changing mental states of the main characters to be fascinating as things got worse and worse. Going with the title, I can say that this book is like a little taster and makes me want to check out others from Ms. Havok
Probably my favourite Rayne Havok book so far. The protagonist was so twisted and weird and I found her fascinating. This novella is a quick read and I read it in one sitting, very drawn into the plot and intrigued as to how it would progress.
A girl falls for her teacher. He falls for his student. Life is passionate. They fall in love. Marry. Live a life full of each other. An accident happens. Life changes. It changes him. Then it changes her. They hate each other. They abuse each other. The hate grows. The abuse grows. The end happens.
Collette finds herself in a police investigation room after the mysterious death of her husband.
I'm slowly making my way through Rayne's backlist and really enjoying them! I'm quickly learning that if you want something gross, fast-paced and gruesome, you need to check out this author. This novella hooks you right from the first line. You are instantly drawn into this woman's life and must keep turning the pages to find out what compelled her to do what she did. It's weird to say, but you kind of root for Collette while reading.
