Legion of Angels #7

Fairy’s Touch

Rate this book
The games of gods play out upon the backbones of mortals.

Leda Pierce has come a long way since she left her home on the frontier of civilization one year ago to join the Legion of Angels. She is a soldier in the gods’ army, has crossed swords with demons, and shares an apartment with her angel lover in New York.

Every day brings Leda closer to becoming an angel herself—until a promotion ceremony goes horribly wrong, leaving her powers in magical limbo. Worse yet, the gods have taken over her training at Crystal Falls. Leda’s failed magic and the gods’ impossible challenges are the least of her worries, however. Someone is using the challenges to expose people’s most-guarded secrets, and the skeletons in Leda’s closet would mean her execution.

Fairy’s Touch is the seventh book in the Legion of Angels series.

If you're reading this series then you probably don't need convinced to read this one too. The whole series has been one dramatic episode after another but let me try and share how this book made me feel - though the medium of gifs of course

Receives text from friend - "LOA 7 is out!" wow this is out i'd forgotten all about this series!

Que immediate download

Starts off straight into the action as usual, I'm reminded how much I love Leda and how awesome and funny she is.
Que appearance of my OTL Nero

Yup I'm still pretty much in love with him...

....Gods announce exciting games to take place....
....I ask myself "how does Summers come up with this stuff?"
....I need Nero "legion" playing cards immediately
....."how is she keeping this exciting, its even better than the last!"

then I think I'm at the end

"Whats this now...."

...and I died

The End

Hmmm, maybe it's just me but I was expecting more from this story. It almost felt like a lot of the scenes were fillers, since I wasn't that interested in the Gods' secrets. Dare I say that there was too much action? Because to me it felt like it. I don't know, I just wanted more from the plot and characters. And definitely more from Leda and Nero. The last 90% of the book I do must admit were phenomenal. So to sum it up, this is my least favourite book of the series but that doesn't mean that it sucked. It just wasn't living up to my personal expectations and wishes. I hope the next book will be better and that we'd finally get to meet Leda's mother. That sure would be an interesting plot twist.

This series just got real. There has been 6 books before this and we've gotten use to a certain pacing with the books. Certain rules about how things will go down. It all blew up in this book when the God's decided to take over the Crystal Falls training. The rules have gone down the tubes and everyone has become a pawn in the game of Gods and Demons. Soldiers like Leda, Angels like Nero and even other Gods/Demons. No one is immune to their games. It was there in other books on some level but it was brought home with a vengeance in this one.

If THAT wasn't enough, this book is about secrets, who knows them, who can keep theirs hidden, and what happens when they come spilling out. Oh boy do they ever come out. Some of the major questions followers of the series have had to this point get answered.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the moment the god's took over the training until the very end. A lot of the book takes place with Leda working with someone other than Nero which leads to some amusing results. There are still some Leda/Nero playful interactions and smoldering moments we come to expect of their chemistry.

In some ways, this was a bit of transition book as we move from more earth based conflict to set up what I presume are more of the heaven/hell/guardians (and whatever other immortal level powers are out there) based conflicts going forward. I can't wait to see what a full strength Leda looks like in the future from the hints we are seeing now. Assuming she can manage to get there in one piece...

Every time I read a book in this series, I am blown away. I always forget that until I start reading, and this book was truly a masterpiece. We are back with Leda at training, but as always with her, things take a turn for the not-so-good. The gods decide they get to decide who will next be an angel, but there is one who is out to start in-fighting with the gods because this god has an ulterior motive: Leda will be a weapon. I loved this book from start to finish, and I absolutely adore the relationship between Leda and Nero. They are so wonderful together. The books and series have it all: wonderful writing, interesting characters, and an engrossing plot. Now I desperately need the next book as the end was just so unexpected. Give this one a try today, and you will not regret it! I highly recommend this book! I was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.

Wow. Just... Wow.

I have binge read this entire series and it has shit straight up to my top 5.

I pretty much love everything about this.

Fantastic world building.
Amazing female MC who has the perfect balance of kick ass, compassion, humour, power and struggle as well.
Her alpha partner who manages to embody all of the best qualities of an uber powerful alpha love interest without any of the annoying asshole tenancies they often have.
Awesome secondary characters.
No clear goodies and baddies. Everything and everyone is done in shades of grey here.
Perfect balance of action and romance.

And Leda and Nero... Well, I just totally adore everything about them.

Thank you, Gaby, for making me read these!

Now let the huge book hangover commence!

It gets better towards the end.

It's so exciting to finally see her so close to becoming what she is supposed to be!

It's really sad to see this series so close to the end (and it's damn annoying not to have any details on the last book).

For me this whole series is a 5 star series.

I head a lot of good thing about this book. The series was recommended to me many times (#cakeeaters thank you). I never picked it up, because I was scared that I won't like a well loved series. But I finally did, because I put it in a clear your tbr challenge and it was called.

I started the first book Vampire's legion last sunday, when the number was drawn and I only stoped once to finish another challenge but otherwise I read the whole series in only seven days! I really binged it.

I loved Leda and her lovely chaotic ways. She really got things done, even if the Angels thought that her ways were inappropriate. But she always thought out of the box and her actions lead to results.
Nero is a good counterpart. He gives her stability, rules and has her back. But he also knows how to bend the rules properly. Which leads to creative rule bending Leda styled.

The series was so much fun. I rarely read a series that long, where I wanted to have the next book like yesterday. The audiobooks are good too. I like the narrator. Most of the time I read and listened to the series changing from ebook to audiobook and back.

Five stars recommendation!

Heads up: I'll just copy this review into all the other books of the series. Also most of the audiobooks (one to eight) were free on audible at the end of 2023. For the first four book there is one audiobook available, but it's not free on audible.

4.5 stars. Oh. My. God. This. Shite. Just. Got. Real. Im on pins and needles, every time I start a new book in the series. I forget how good it's going to be, the build ups are so great that when you get to the end you feel like you are literally hanging onto that cliff. I can't wait for book 8 it says 2019 so hopefully we get it this year.

NEWS FLASH: Leda's parents are Faris and Grace. Her strongest powers are siren song and vampire strength. Her siren song powers are from Faris.

Throughout the trials, Leda was smart, quick thinking, and loved her witty remarks with Colonel Fireswift since they were forced to work together. You also find out Fireswift's first name is Xerxes through a Legion card game. From the trials, almost all the dirty Laundry of the Gods were revealed using Aleris' opera glasses. Nyx, First Angel, is also the half sister of Valora. On the 2nd trial, they have to retrieve Valora's prized possession, which is the crown. Valor is the Queen Goddess, leader of the god's council and ruler of heaven. Apparently, she killed her father Mercer with the help of Zarion (her lover) and pinned the blame on the demons. Mission #3, they have to steal Zarion's (God of Faith, Lord of Pilgrims, and King of Vampires, prized possession which is a gold hairbrush which is in the Temple of the Night. You find out that Zarion loved Eveline, the leader of Chicago werewolf pack, and that love got her pregnant. Mercer had gotten away with fathering a demigod because he'd been king of the gods. If the other gods, found out, his alliances would fall apart so he decided to kill Eveline and the baby. The hairbrush was his gift to her, a symbol of their love and he took it back. Later you see Nyx's memory from the hairbrush. Nyx was cloaked beside Leda while Nero and Harker was watching Stash. Stash was a shifter who defied all magic and suddenly became an angel. Stash is the child of a shifter mother, aka Eveline. Stash was a demigod like Nyx. Eveline made a deal with a witch coven to cast a spell on her. The next time Zarion came for her and stabbed her in the belly and died, there would a be a magic shell that protected Stash from dying. The memory from the hair brush also showed that Nyx and Ronan training Stash to control his powers. Mission #4, retrieve treasure from Maya, Goddess of healing and patron goddess of fairies. Maya's prize was a dead body, Osiris. Maya's lover is Osiris Wardbreaker. Osiris, is the archangel that was killed, that had gone off on the deep end and killed 100s of children. At the same time, you find out that he was killed by Daniel Dragonsire, Nero's father. From this memory, it is revealed that Daniel never died and that he brought Osiris body at Ronan's feet. Being that it's unwieldy to carry around a body, the necklace on Osiris was selected as the prize. Mission #5, Meda's mirror (Goddess of Technology and Witchcraft). The mirror revealed that she talking to a Guardian in the mirror for Life Serum. She was using the life serum and other magical ingreidents to to test on beast species. Life as the serum the Guardians used to balance peopel's magic, giving them control over the full spectrum of light and dark powers. Like Nectar and Venom, Life was given gradually over time. Meda was trying to control the monsters that god and demons had lost control over centuries ago. Meda did not clear this with the god's council and claimed she was not allying with the Guardians. The mirror also showed that she tested the life serum on Osiris. This was the reason why Osiris went mad and gone off on a killing spree. Her twin sister, Maya is now shocked to find out that Meda lead Osiris' to his madness and exploited him. Mission #6, Leda & Colonel Fireswift has to defend Faris' prized possession which are heaven and hell weapons he has stashed at his castle. Leda is surprised that the weapons are here and it seems like Faris wants his secret to be found as he left no more that 12 guards to defend his castle. As soon as Faris left, the competitors arrive and demons showed up. So Leda puts on the heaven and hell armor and weapons as do the other competitors and fight against the demons. The weapons reveal Faris consorting Grace, a demon and finding out she was pregnant. Leda can now confirm her father is Faris and not Zarion. Faris was going to weaponize the child but Grace disappeared and hid away the child before he could get her. Mission# 7 Ronan's prize was Leon, the dark angel and first betrayer. Leon was also Nyx's ex and Nyx was shocked that Ronan kept this secret from her and pissed off. Ronan kept Leon as a prisoner to extract secrets. At the same time demon sisters Ava and Sonya came to get Leon back.

...

Leda finally turns into an angel because Athan, the Everlasting, slipped her a dose of nectar and venom in a her drink. He used her so Leda can find his sister who was being locked up by Aleris, one of the other Gods who imprisoned her. Jace Fireswift was chosen by the Gods to become an angel after the trials.

Faris, at the end of book, calls into question if Leda can really trust Nero Windstriker, her lover. "Why did he interview you the day you came to this office to join the Legion of Angels. Ask him why he oversaw your training. Or did you think it's common for an angel. the head of a Legion office and a large territory, to concern himself with a lowly initiate?"

Fairy's Touch begins with Leda and six others being chosen to compete to become an angle, she knows that she probably won't become an angel, but she still wants to do her best, especially when the gods get into the mix.

This book was good, but I was a little annoyed with again the issues of marriage when it came to Leda and Nero, however, he made it seem like it wasn't a big deal and nothing would happen. But, the ending was freaking crazy, basically a cliffhanger that leaves you wondering what on earth is going on with the hero. I do not like that part, but I'm interested in the next book.

This was one hell of a show. A ridiculous amount of secrets were revealed. I liked that the book had Colonel Fireswift and Leda understanding each other more, as they were forced to work together. I'm happy for Jace. I like that Ella Summers effectively I liked that we got a closeup of the gods. It was interesting. I'm glad Leda was as fiery and wonderful as ever. I think that focus on secrets was entertaining and intriguing, if not a bit much. Overall, it was a well executed installation in the story, with nice pacing and editing. I can't wait for the next one, especially as it's releasing on Saturday! 4 stars. Great book.

This was a fun one! Colonel Fireswift and Leda as a team absolutely killed me. I was cackling, I kid you not. Many secrets of the gods are revealed in this installment, and they're mighty explosive! Fun times. After that epic ending, on to book 8! 4.5 stars.

Hmpp, Why is Pandora always the best in the group whatever she does? Why does she always have to excell? And please, don't drag out the steamy scenes. The whole book mainly centered around the fact tht Leda was horny.

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book to me. This was an incredible read. I love this series, each book just keeps getting better and better. Also, I got to say that the romance between Nero and Leda keeps getting better. In this book, it is time for Leda to enter the Crystal Falls training program for Legion soldier of level 6 and level 7 magic. However, the training gets derailed when the Gods need to find a new angel to replace one of the deceased angels from the last book. Hence, a period of 7 challenges begins and we get some unexpected secrets revealed. This book was exciting and never a dull moment. I love Leda more than ever. Her snarkiness and chaotic behaviour always make the story funny and entertaining. I love Nero, and how much Leda had rubbed off on him. He is now more carefree when he is with her, and it is really sweet. I wonder how book 8 will turn out. I expect nothing but amazing things. Overall, an amazing read.

Fantastic story line as always

This is the 7th book in the series and honestly it takes too long for each consecutive book to be released. The characters and story lines are extremely detailed and beautifully interwoven. I thoroughly enjoy the fight scenes and adore Leda’s irreverence and sass. It doesn’t hurt that there’s such wonderfully written interaction between Nero and Leda. I always wish that the stories were longer and that the wait was shorter between the releases of the next book. I’d say that this is young adult and up in age range. And I absolutely do recommend it! Enjoy.

It was a long wait, but it was worth it. The story fairly par-for-the-course for this series: Leda does more training so she can upgrade her magic, adventures ensue. I'd like to see her actually take on some missions and curtail the overt training a bit. After all, at the beginning of the book she's a captain, but she doesn't have a company under her control. It's obvious she's being set up to become a leader of the Legion (or at least a faction of them), so she needs to be seen as leading troops and building camaraderie.

But I digress.

What we really see in this book is how petty, hypocritical, and vengeful the so-called benevolent gods can be. We also see how the gods view the Legion as their slaves; how they're meant to take orders and never think for themselves. The thick gray line of ambiguity between the gods and demons becomes more visible.

Oooh, that ended on a bit of a cliffy!

So we learned quite a lot of secrets and other things in this one. We learned who Leda's parents are and pretty much every secrets the God's have. But then that end bit... how can it end with a revelation like that?

Need to read book 8!

Everytime I think I can't love this series more, I do! This is one of the few series I've read with the same characters in this many books and have NOT gotten bored, fed up with the same old antics, moved onwards, or think the writing style grows redundant! I love, love, love this series and cannot wait for the next one
