One sunny winter day, a child has a wonderful time building a snowman. But what happens to the snowman after the child goes home? A wordless story full of fresh, cold air and the beauty of winter follows the play of light and the natural rhythm of the unfolding day. A new way of looking at the world waits inside the covers of this delightful little book.
Artist Daniel Peddle spent his childhood in rural North Carolina. He graduated with honors in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and attended graduate film school at New York University. He has directed four feature films, published several books, shown his paintings globally, discovered actress Jennifer Lawrence, and owns a casting company with an international clientele. He has lived in NYC for over twenty years . . . where he misses NC and the dirt road he grew up on.
This is a no-word book about a snowman that is built and then ends up melting. It is very simple with little illlustration. However, I would have fun with it in a classroom. I would have kids make their own version to the story and make snowmen out of cotton balls. Even though it is so simple things can be taught and lessons can be learned from it.
Beautiful wordless book, as eloquent as any description of a winter afternoon, evening, night, and sunrise. (Theia's review: "Snowman melted...!" She was moved almost to tears by the bittersweet ending.)
