What a manipulative psychopath Bryce Ditloc turned out to be- pure evil- Lives forever changed by a man born without emotions- Praying on the pain and loss of others during a recession- his cruelty even extended to the games of playing havoc on others not only physically, but mentally. Greville- poor guy- to become an unwitting player with no control- from blackmail- to murder- what a scary ride!
I had an opportunity to look at this book as a beta reader. What struck me was impact of the central character - a brute and a bully, psychopath and killer. And utterly compelling. An entertaining read from start to finish.
Carnivore is one fantastic thriller, well- written and a total page-turner. The author created an awful human being with a cunning mind and good looks. The character is very well developed and the way he is described is amazing. The other characters, especially the detectives are also very interesting and well-thought-out. The plot is solid - I'm a fan of the genre and I simply couldn't stop reading this book. You can dive in and not stop reading until it's over. This book is the first I read from the author but it surely won't be the last! I recommend Carnivore 100 %!
I enjoyed what Kearns did with Bryce Ditloc, the evil character who takes the main role in this gritty thriller taking place in Houston Texas. He is the CEO of Ditloc Pharmaceutical Enterprises. A multi-million dollar company handed down by his father, as Bryce takes leadership in the company he also begins to develop a sickness within. A killer is born in him. As a kid, he starts with the family pet, and as he grows his sickness develops to killing people, particularly his employees and new hires that he is scouting around the nation, who come to interview for an executive sales position. It's up to a couple of detectives on his case to stop his malicious attacks and crack the case on a shortlist of homicides all leading to Bryce Ditloc. Kearns did a fabulous job here in making the reader despise everything Bryce Ditloc stands for, pairing his evil with dashing good looks and a chiseled body, a true viper in disguise. I found myself eagerly turning pages in search of Bryce Ditloc's demise.
