A Dream So Close. Love Lost. Redemption.

As the story progresses, a prospective draft-pick pitcher on the verge of living his dreams, is faced with the ultimate test.

Joshua finds himself in a turmoil, just whiskers away from achieving his life-long dream of playing for Louisville Mammoths, his home-town, Kentucky’s own Major League Baseball team.

He is caught between life-changing situations, maintaining professionalism & discipline ahead of the team’s draft selection while distraught, in light of his girlfriend’s affair with his best friend & colleague, and the temptatious hanker from two astonishing women - one of them, his coach’s engaged daughter - Gabriella. Such a slippery slope…

How does he maintain balance till the draft is released?

What would be his reaction to Gabriella’s amorous advances?

On the other hand, Aaron is already facing his karma, as things begin to go awry for him. Nonetheless, the Grapefruit League is still on-going and Joshua continues to put on a stellar performance on the pitch.

His selection is exponentially eminent, which further feeds Gabriella’s fantasies and hopes of one day being in the arms of this delectable athlete.

Is Joshua even willing to risk it all? Will she leave her fiancé? Will her father - the coach, condone or approve of her and Joshua?

First things first; I like the cover of this book.
Draft day is the first book in the ‘’ballers & curves’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an ok read. I read this book in one sitting. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters ok and the storyline intriguing. I am sorry to say but this book wasn’t for me. So much was going on with very little answers. I liked Joshua but I wasn’t a fan of Gabriella. I couldn’t understand why she was engaged if she was lusting after Joshua. I wasn’t a fan of Renee. I don’t think she had good intentions when it came to Joshua. From the little we met of Gabriella’s fiancée, he wasn’t up to much and I wasn’t a fan. It was clear he was having an easy ride with Gabriella. I also couldn’t understand why it wasn’t explained on why Gabriella and Mark were in couples therapy.
Will I give the second story in this series a chance? Yes.

Very brief single read. You need to have read the prequel to understand who is who.
Joshua reacts badly to his girlfriend Renee’s flagrant indiscretion with his best friend Aaron, and flirts with the bargirl Suzan. Will that lead anywhere? Mark and Gabriella discover a new depth to their relationship. What will happen to Joshua and Gabriella’s attraction? Can Renee win Joshua back?
I read this book as an ARC and this review is entirely voluntary.

In part two, Joshua meets up with Renee to hear why she did what she did and gives her some hope. Gabrielle goes to watch Joshua play and when she returns home, her fiancé manages to give her something they never experienced before…but she still thought about Joshua the whole time and missed his text message. Where will things continue on from here? Find out in the next chapter!
