Experiment at Proto

Rate this book
At the Primate Research Center in Georgia a chimpanzee was given a heap of photographs of apes and human beings which it sorted into two piles, humans and apes. The only thing was that it invariably put its own picture on the pile with humans.

The mystery fails to engross, the secret reveal is underwhelming, the horror is nonexistent.A rape of an underage girl comes out of nowhere with no reason for it in the story except to raise the threat level of a villain whom the author apparently forgot to make threatening. This is not some hidden gem of an old pulp fiction book. Obviously it is full of misogyny and racism that will come off poorly to a modern audience, but the book's true crime is that of being utterly boring.
