Rosemont High Baseball #3

The Perfect Catch

Rate this book
He can catch every pitch thrown to him, but can he catch her heart?Dax Stratton lives for baseball. But when he gets into a fight with the school jerk, the principal decides it's time for a different kind of punishment. He's assigned to the senior committee with Kate Adams, Student Body President, who also happens to be the girl he's been crushing on.

Kate Adams has life mapped out, well, her mom does. Her schedule is filled with service activities and schoolwork. It’s not until Dax joins the committee that she begins to see a world beyond high school—much to her mother’s disapproval—and the kaleidoscope that it of opportunities it holds.

Can they overcome prejudice and social class to create a teen relationship?

Britney Mills was born in Utah but parts of her heart lie in Boston, Washington D.C. and Germany. Her love of writing began with the third grade book her teacher assigned her to write and she spent hours hidden behind her mother’s couch writing pages and pages about knights and castles.
Most of her time consists of taking care of her young son and triplets but writing keeps her sane as she travels along on the adventures of characters to come.
When she’s not mothering, writing or reading, she’s probably out playing a sport, going on a hike, or binge watching some kind of murder mystery show. She is a fan of chick flicks and adventure/action stories in books and movies, and can even get her cowboy husband to watch along with her.

Another great from this author. Dax loves baseball but doesn’t always watch his behaviour. This leads him to the girl he likes. Enjoyable.

It intrigues me how different the lives of people can be. I mean, obviously, but this book really gave insight on the differences between someone who is from a more affluent neighborhood and someone who lives in a less than ideal neighborhood. This difference is a focus of this book and I wanted to see how it would be handled.

The main characters were awesome. I enjoyed how Dax had two sides to him - the side that he wanted people to see and the side that he only let his family and close friends see (although I don't think he really let his close friends see that side of him completely.) Most high schoolers would not have given up so much of their money from a part time job to take care of their siblings. I wish Kate had stood up to her mom sooner. It was such a big part of the story that her mom was so controlling, but I kept waiting for the confrontation to happen. But I liked her character and how she was so giving.

I'm not going to go too deep into the rest of the characters. I liked how characters from the other books in this series were included but how it was totally readable as a standalone. The storyline was familiar but unique in its own way. I very much enjoyed this book and would recommend all of the books in this series.

A sweet and clean addition to the series. I liked that we get to read the story from both Daxton’s and Kate’s points of view. Seeing their friendship develop and how they both got to know the true character of the other without the bias of other peoples opinions influencing them and seeing past the masks that they each at times wore, was very satisfying. I also really enjoyed the way we get to experience Dax’s interactions and relationships with his younger siblings. It’s not all about the romance with this story which I found very refreshing. There is a lot of personal growth involved in this story for both Kate and Daxton - not just for their own relationship but also the relationships with their families and even their own goals for the future. On a side not, this book could be read as a stand-alone however, we do read about each of the characters’ from the previous books of the series in this one as well - which, if you’ve read the previous ones, is great since you get to see how each of their stories progressed a bit further :)
I received an ARC of this book from the author, however this in no way influenced my opinion and I am under no obligation to leave a review.

Another cute story from Britney M Mills. This is the 3rd book in the Rosemont High Baseball series and each story is just as good as the last. This is the story of the boy from the wrong side of the tracks (Dax) and the wholesome, sweet, do gooder (Kate). Dax tries to be the boy everyone thinks he is – player, rough, not really smart. But really, Dax is the opposite of that. He will do whatever it takes to make sure his family is taken care of and is very quick to take up for people he cares about. Dax has had a crush on Kate for over a year and has yet to tell her. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he ends up on the Senior Committee with Kate and gets to know her a little better. Of course, Dax feels like there is no way Kate could ever like a boy like him. Will Dax let his pride get in the way of him getting the girl?

Great story, wonderful characters with drama, chemistry, sweetness and understanding. I cannot wait to read the next book. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.

Dax was the catcher for the team and the one that everyone thought was the rough and tough playboy from the wrong side of the tracks. Kate was the smart good girl that had all the boxes checked to get into a good college with the money now to back it. Kate was searching for a secret masked kisser and was secretly falling for Dax but was scared because of her mother, the masked kisser and Dax’s bad boy reputation. Dax was the masked kisser and was secretly in love with Dax but didn’t think he was good enough for her. When forced to be together, Dax and Kate began to form a unique relationship and their fun and innocent romance began even as they faced the outside influences of disapproving parents, social barriers, school pressures, family obligations, financial obligations, antagonistic school mate, emotions and young love. Fun read.

This was another delightful book in the series. Kate is super sweet and genuinely kind. Dax is definitely not who people think he is but under his persona of the cocky player is really a sweet, honest, hard working guy. Kate can tell right away that he is different than people believe and decides to find out more about him. Throughout the story we see that they both have a lot to learn about living life for yourself rather than others. They learn together that dreams can be achieved and are never to far away to decide to work towards them. Overall this was a wonderful and sweet story about growing up and standing up for what you want to achieve.

This sweet YA romance takes two teenagers on opposite side of the tracks and lines them up together. With a baseball, trailer park, troublemaker on the outside on one hand and a picture perfect, college applicant star on the other, these two have a long way to go before they find their romance.'

The Perfect Catch is a great installment in the Rosemont High books. Britney Mills infuses these characters with feelings that I remember from high school and wanted so desperately to break out of. The romance is perfect, especially as Dax Stratton shows his true gentle and sweet self. I wouldn't mind my future teenagers reading this romance someday.

This is the third book in the Rosemont High series. I don't typically read YA books, but this is such a clean and delightfully sweet story and I enjoyed it very much. The characters were wonderful, relatable and endearing. Kate is a kind, generous, and sweet girl and Dax is more than what he appears to be. To everyone he presents himself to be a cocky guy, but what people don't see right away is that he is a caring and honest guy who works hard. Despite prejudice and social differences, they form a sweet relationship. A cute story that put a smile on my face.

This was such a good continuation of the series. I can’t wait to read the next books! This author’s writing style is like heaven to me. It is so fluid. It seems to continue without one tiny bump. I think an author is who is a lot like this would be Kylie Key who writes these kinds of series with YA romance. Overall, these characters were a lot of fun. They were perfect for each other. I loved how social class was portrayed in this story. It is a completely happy ending with lots of loose ends tied up. Everything that was shown in this novel ends up good and I love an overall, feel-good novel.

Sweet YA romance that teaches us to look beyond appearances, that there can be more behind the public facade. Kate sees that in Dax. They may come from different backgrounds and realities. Perfect student with a domineering mother planning her life for her and the baseball player from the trailer park with family responsibilities on his young shoulders. Different ,yes but losing a parent is something they both can relate to. It's not going to be easy but love will find a way.
Great read even for an older reader.

Fabulous characters that were fun and lighthearted! This was a great story for any young adult and as for any adult . I love how the author shows that even young adults have stress and life problems. It’s good for adults to read this book because it shows us how we need to listen to our teens and realize they have things in their lives that cause stress just like we do. I like that this was a clean sweet romance perfect for any age. Great story with a plot that pulls the reader in and keeps the story interesting.
Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

I’m not sure why I’m still surprised when I enjoy one of these YA stories, it might be because my teens were 60 years ago. Britney M. Mills writes these so well that the message in them can be for anyone. I think we all can remember those decisions we made as teenagers or even those we made as parents that didn’t turn out quite the way we planned. This story take you back to those days and the beginning of young love. Will it last a lifetime, who knows but it can feel so good right now. I have enjoyed this story.

This sweet high school romance is about Dax and Kate. I was excited about this book because I was previously introduced to these characters in other books by Britney. Dax is a baseball player that lives in a trailer park. Kate is a higher class girl who excels in school. When Dax gets in trouble Kate is his last chance to stay in school. Dax has always liked Kate and time together increases those feelings. I liked the characters and the story and it had a really sweet ending.

A sweet YA romance about Dax and Kate from two different worlds. Dax loves her from afar and kisses her at a party while wearing a mask. Kate is looking for the masked kisser unbeknownst to her it’s Dax who she is attracted to and starts dating.
I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

The Perfect Catch

A sweet, clean read with a straightforward plot. Two main characters, each hard-working in their own ways. Good for if you don't want anything overly complicated and just want something leisurely to enjoy.

A high school romance with a little family drama thrown in. I enjoyed the way these two came together slowly as they learned about each other. I enjoyed the way they supported one another and stood up for one another.

For the third book in the series, it was fun to get to know another set of students from this same high school, while getting the occasional peek back and the characters from book one and two. I really liked how well this author was able to make all of her characters different and unique in each installment. Fast and easy to read, it make for a great book for a weekend binge or a vacation treat.
