Born completly blind not even able to see light Jennie Maries parents was told there was no hope of her ever getting sight having a rare eye condision called iriscoloboma but her family would not give up on the hope that one day she would see no matter how many doctors told them the there was no chance she could possibly ever see that is with our a merical and a merical is just what she got slowly her sight begain to grow from seeing light as a infent to being able to reconize colors as a toddler threw her left eye her right stayed only seeiing light well as she grew so did the little sight she had never coming close to being 20/20 she was still blessed then at age seven she went threw an experamental surgary to correct her right eye from turning in aroound that time in her life is when the bulling really started to get bad doctors warned that the sugery would only help to make her eye appear normal but will not give her sight well they where wrong again blessing number two came two weeks after the sugary when the bandages where removed from her eye she was able to see colors and shapes but not as well as her left eye still she and her family where thankful not being able to make out cartoons very well on tv Jennie Marie prefered to have books read to or stories told to her insted this is when her passion for books begain while in the hosptial for one of manny eye sugares she undergone from three weeks old til into her teens her mom found a book about raggidyann being given to a bliind girl and how she tought the girl to look at and see the world threw her heart not her eyes this book not only gave Jennie Marie hope it inspirered what would turn out to be a life long dream of wanting to become an authour herself writting books to inspire and bring hope in to peoples lifes flash forward to age thirteen the bulling she faced was at an all time high tho she keept a journal to poor her heart into she still had a lot of emotions that went unexpressed he self a steam was at a all time low and did not fit in with her pears she was a outsider or so that is how she felt well her seventh grade reading teacher mrs louis took a special intresses into Jennie Marie working with her on reading skills and then challanging her to write a self expression aka free verse poem about how her vision or lack of made her feel over that weekend well never having written poetry in any form before Jennie Marie opened her heart and poored it on to the page in a simple yet meaningful poem her teacher so impressed by her work submited the poem to the young authors program and Jennie Marie was published for the first time and won first place in her state haveing found a way to express all she kept in she started to write for her self never thinking that her poem sight was the begaining of her life changing after reading about a poetry contest in the paper her aunt me me asked Jennie Marie for the ok to enter her in the contest not thinking she had a chance she still said yes within two weeks of being entered in the international contest Jennie Marie got a letter saying that she had won editors choice and would be published in a collection of poetry with other poets from around the world her life was begaing to change over the years to come she kept writing and getting published winning honors and when she was twenty she won national poet of the year for one of the poetry societies she belonged to and was going to recive her award on her twenty first birthday but the hurricane katrina hit the weekend befor washing away the life she build taking with it everyting she had written in the seven years she had written poetry leaving her homeless and hopless she held on to her writting to get her threw that heartbrakeing time in her life by the age of twenty two she was able to recover and write enough poetry to publish a small collection of fifty poems of her own thus Poems from the Heart was born then her vission began to desinagrate form a rare form of glacoma th
