Kim Loraine’s Ignite is a steamy, forbidden, age-gap contemporary romance written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World.
She‘s everything I swore to stay away from. But I was never good at resisting temptation.
When I picked up my life and moved to California, I left my hometown, my past, and my heart back in Sunrise, Montana. I never wanted to look back. Didn’t want to look forward either. All I needed was the job to keep me going. Until Lark sparked something inside me.
But she’s nearly half my age, and I’m too much for her. Too broken. Too selfish to give her what she deserves.
Even though I know it’s wrong to want her, I can’t resist.
Every time we come together, our world catches fire.
USA Today bestselling author Kim Loraine was raised a Navy brat but spent most of her life growing up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. A proper Washingtonian, she's addicted to coffee, doesn't let a little rain ruin her day, and thinks the sun is a gift from God. When not chasing her three little minions around, Kim spends her time writing, reading, and binge watching Doctor Who.
This was my listen in the Everyday Heroes World. Totally loved it! Travis is totally swoon worthy & stole my heart. Firefighter & Cowboy - Yes, please!. Loved the chemistry between Lark & Travis. And I loved the age gap between them. Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter did an amazing job at narrating!
mostly when I shelve a book as: "other woman is a main focus", the woman (GINA here) actually appears in the book...constantly... but in this case we get to know her through his thoughts & words...constantly. We see her ONCE. Yet she rules this whole thing from start to finish. I tried to think of other books where the ow is so prevalent without actually being on page, but I’m hitting a blank
wiki explains plot: "the sequence of events where each affects the next one through the principle of cause-and-effect" So here we have: every time the ow features, be it in his head or from his mouth or in person, it drives the direction of the Hxh's journey. Every. Single. Time. the start, middle & end.
it does. not. matter: that he doesn't even like the ow that when he left the h for the ow, they (H & ow) didn't live together as a couple that he wanted his child not the ow that he missed the h & thought of her often after he left her that he was considering getting back with the h before the ow let him off the hook none of this matters because she was never his first choice she’s back in his life because the ow didn’t have his baby
start: divorced after 17 years, he's emotionally involved with his ex-wife to the point where she has total control over his actions & feelings it affects all his choices, work, relationships, family, goals etc etc middle: as above to the point where she rocks up pregnant & he leaves the h for ow & unborn child end: as above to the point where ow rejects him for the real father of her child & he makes a move to get the h back
our heroine: takes him back no questions asked okay, 2 questions: "what about Gina?" & "are you okay?" she's sweet & has been broken even before he broke her some more protected & loved by all feisty yet vulnerable she's not weak but does love him very much so she's accepting of it all he heals her like neither time nor therapy, family, nor friends have been able to do he's her hea & she will continue to heal & grow as long as he's at her side she doesn't need anything more than that from him
i enjoyed: the author's writing style how she stayed true to her hero: she doesn’t make his character do a complete 180 - he'll never be an alpha & that's okay – he’s gorgeous & sexy & male enough to match the h’s sweet feminine nature the sex & intimate scenes are well done & the epilogue is comforting. I’m positive many readers will enjoy the book
I'm pretty sure the book wasn't meant to be as heavy as I've read it as I’m probably putting 2 & 2 together & have come up with more than the intended 4 what I take from this story is that there is NO apology, nor a grovel, a promise to make up for the heartache he’s rejection caused her. Not the reassurance that she will always come first from here on out. And without even ONE of these, my romantic heart finds not a single thing to love about him. My idea of a hero isn’t one who nonchalantly strolls back into his heroine’s life without knowing he needs to atone. I never ask for a perfect hero (my best heroes are practically beyond redemption) but this kind of imperfect is not for me he doesn’t ask for forgiveness she never expects it
be that as it may... their hea is here: because her hea is him because his hea is a family with kids & a wife who adores him because he has a daddy kink & she has daddy issues

Cowboy/Firefighter ✔️ Insta-lust ✔️ Age-gap ✔️ That dirty mouth of his + SO MUCH MORE!!
Not only is the hero like a tall glass of SWOON on a hot day to this thirsty af book bitch, but the heroine! Gah, I just loved her! Life may have fractured her, but she never lets it break her. LOVE HER!!
My tummy is still all flutters over this story and just, whoa!
TBR the hell outta this and join my prayer circle (haha, right!) that this baby gets an audio release as well, because imagine all those ‘darlin’s’ coming to life?! 😱💀😩🔥🔥
This was the first book I’ve read by Kim Loraine and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really liked both Lark and Travis. The two of them are perfect for each other; even if it takes them both some time to realise this fully.
And let’s be honest here. There’s just something about a cowboy isn’t there, and a fireman, and lucky for Lark, Travis is both of those two things combined!
Obviously, we have the tension of the age gap and unlike some other books I’ve read within this genre, it was handled really well. It was effective and I could feel a genuine connection forming between the two of them since they first met. At no point did it feel forced or false.
I have anxiety and I could really connect with Lark and how just a trip to the grocery store could be a battle for her. So many people suffer daily and watching Lark’s battle with recovery from her PTSD was wonderful.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It’s a great small town romance with a touch of the forbidden, age gap thrown in!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really liked this one. I loved the little unexpected parts even going into this blind. It had just the right amount of drama.
The narration by: Stella Hunter, Jason Clarke were so good for their characters. I loved the Duet Narration as well.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Lark has PTSD and is very skittish but oh how my heart broke for her. Travis ...well he is a true knight in shining armor...firefighter and cowboy, oh yeah!! A wonderful age gap romance that will have you turning the pages!
Travis and Lark met when he nearly run her over on her vespa. He took her to the hospital and from there they spent the day together. Lark was not in a good place when she met Travis. She had been through some terrible things in her past and basically cant deal with crowds. But when she met Travis she felt safe for the first time in a long time. But as whirlwind as their meeting has been and as much as they have amazing chemistry, Travis still feels like his too old for her. Never mind all the baggage he brings to the table and not even to mention that her father is his boss…
I liked Lark. I liked that even though she seemed vulnerable and seemed like she was falling apart, she tried to get better. She put herself out there with Travis and wanted her life to go back to normal. The only time you saw the happy go lucky girl was when she and Travis were together. I loved that they were good for each and made each other happy
Kim Loraine never seizes to amaze me with her incredible talent! This story was full of vulnerability, love and lust. The chemistry between Travis and Lark was undeniable. The way they connected on every level, how they found safe spaces in each other and opened themselves up to more around one another was truly beautiful.
Despite everything they have went through, all of the hard hands in life they had been dealt, both Lark and Travis found a away to open themselves up again and let themselves be vulnerable with one another. Lark completely blew me away. Her strength and bravery, her pure and kind soul. Even with the extreme trauma she faced, she still worked every day to get better and to have the life she wanted to live. I was in awe of Lark. She captured me from the very beginning and I connected with her character deeply. And Travis, even with his past he allowed himself to fall deep with Lark and open his heart to another.
Their banter and flirting, when they had happy moments, you couldn’t help but smile along with them and think about how they truly deserved every moment of that happiness.
This story was full of passion and bravery. It was a beautiful story full of highs and lows and how we choose to deal with them. The story was original and something I truly believe that, in some capacity, everyone can connect with. This story flowed so perfectly that I never wanted it to end. Travis and Lark’s story was everything I could have hoped for and so much more!
Audiobook review: I really enjoyed this book. This is my first book by Kim Loraine and I will definitely be checking out some more of her books. Especially the ones with the Ryker family. This is an age gap romance and I haven’t read one of these in a long time. I loved how they didn’t really let their 15 year age difference work against them. Lark had been through more than most people would ever dream of and this truly made her more mature in my eyes. Travis was a hot cowboy & firefighter who was so hot.
I knew Travis’s ex would come back and mess things up for him and Lark, I just wished he hadn’t trusted what she said as easily as he had. But I glad that it didn’t take a real long time for the full truth to come to light. For the most part, there wasn’t a lot of drama in this book. Just a great romance with two people who didn’t think they should be together but couldn’t fight the flame.
My only negative is I didn’t really care for the “daddy” talk. But that’s just my preference.
Really loved the narrators on this one and the fact that it was a duel narration truly made it much more entertaining. Just prepare yourself for all of the Jason Clarke Darlins you get in here. That man should say that all the time.
I really struggled with this book, which is disheartening because it has two or my favorite tropes: age gap and firemen. However, I just could not connect with the characters. I thought the actual plot was way too rushed, and I didn't feel any emotional connection between Lark and Travis. The sexy scenes were hot, and I definitely didn't mind that she called him daddy in bed (I love daddy books and don't judge on what gets you going) but other than that, I just wasn't invested liked I wanted to be.
I do have a feeling this was more of a "me" problem and not the book though, so I will definitely read more from this author in the future!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
Lark is a college student who is still trying to deal with the aftereffects of a traumatic event. She isn’t comfortable around many people but even though she and Travis are brought together under stressful circumstances instead of being nervous he makes her feel safe.
Travis is a fireman who has recently moved to town as he tries to put his past behind him. When an accident brings Lark into his life, he knows that keeping his distance would be the prudent course of action but that is easier said than done.
Their heads know that there are so many reasons that a relationship between them is complicated but the only thing that really matters is what their hearts say.
5 alarm hotness level on the listening scale!!! Travis and Lark IGNITE together in this book almost instantly.
I love that two of my favorite book worlds came together to create this book.
Jason as a growly, sexy as sin firefighter? Yes, please!!! He can call me sweetness ANYTIME!
Jason, as Travis is a cousin of the Ryker brothers and also a firefighter in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes world. Stella, as Lark, is also connected to the EH world which you find out about in the book.
Kim wrote a devilishly delicious romance and it may be one of her hottest I've read so far.
A story that proves that no obstacle is too big to overcome. Both Travis and Lark have loads of baggage from their pasts and within the chapters of this book not only do they provide hope for each other but love and acceptance as well. Kim Loraine created characters that are easy to love and a storyline that will capture your heart. Simply put this is one of those books that the reader comes away with positive feelings.
🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 This age gap romance really brings the heat AND emotion. I adored Travis and Lark! These two were so perfect together. Age is just a number and that was super evident as this engaging story unfolded. This couple will steal your heart as it breaks for them. Their chemistry is off the charts and the pull between them almost elemental. I found my heart aching for each of these characters. They each have a painful history and heavy baggage. As I fell in love with these two I desperately wanted... NO, desperately NEEDED these two to get their HEA. A beautiful romance that delivers All The Feels along with a heaping helping of delicious steam. By my own volition I am posting a sincere review.
Ignite An Everyday Heroes World Novel By: Kim Loraine, KB Worlds Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Stella Hunter
I loved everything about this book, form Kim Loraine fabulous writing style to the characters and storylines she created to the perfectly casted narration. The story is set in K. Bromberg’s “Everyday Heroes World” but can be enjoyed on its own regardless of your familiarity of whether you are familiar with that series or not. If you have not read or listened to that series or Kim Loraine’s “Ryker Ranch” there is a good chance this book will wanting to do so after because it is that good and not just the story but the characters too. This story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight the end. I adored the two lead characters, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Travis Ryker was broken after his divorce, needing a new start he picked up and left his home in Sunrise, Montana and his family on the Ryker Ranch and transferred to a firehouse in California. His ex-wife still manages to get under his skin with her constant calls. It is all about work for him and his horse Ben, a therapy horse. Then Lark enters his life, with a bang and crash landing, he knocked her off her feet, well technically her Vespa. Lark is a troubled young lady, a traumatic event has damaged her and she battles her inner demons everyday. I thought these two were great together and perfect for each other. The chemistry between them was explosive despite their 15 year age gap. He was hesitant at first but he could not fight his attraction to her or the the chemistry between them. She finds solace in him but when he finds out who her father is she become forbidden fruit. But they can only deny themselves for so long, then life throws in another obstacle, one that sends Travis back to Montana. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and a wonderful smoking hot romance. Kim Loraine, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an awesome job bringing the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality. Their portrayal of the each character was spot on, I loved how they took each role and made it their own sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Jason Clarke played Travis’ role with perfection, swoon worthy and all. Stella Hunter did the same for Lark, she captured her persona to the tee. Both were great playing the secondary characters as well. Shout out to Aaron Shedlock for his guest appearance, he rocks the role of a swoon worthy cowboy too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the awesome listen🎧
There are times when I want a slow burn and others when I want immediate, combustible attraction. The latter is what we get in Ignite. Travis Ryker and Lark Mason have an instant connection that burns fast and bright – and hot, so very hot! Travis is a former cowboy who leaves Ryker Ranch (the setting of another amazing series by Kim Loraine that is a must listen) to work as firefighter. He’s new to the firehouse and doesn’t realize that the woman he is immediately smitten with is the chief’s much younger daughter. They are two damaged souls who find solace and hope in each other along the way. Their attraction is undeniable and explosive. Travis makes Lark feel like more than the girl with trauma eating her from the inside out and she gives him hope that he can find love again. They are both willing to fight for their love, despite the efforts of his ex-wife and their fear of what her father will think. While Travis teaches her to ride his horse he also teaches her to ride a cowboy. This story is filled with so much heart and heat!
The performances by Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke are simply wonderful! Stella’s performance as Lark is so nuanced and perfect. She makes you feel Lark’s vulnerability and growing strength. You want to cheer her on as she takes each brave new step in overcoming her PTSD. Jason Clarke sets things on fire with the first line he speaks. He has a deep, growly voice that is so fitting for the hunky firefighter. Every time he calls her “sweetness” I melt! He also expertly voices the other firefighters and gives each one a unique sound. We are treated to a visit from Travis’ cousin, Buck Ryker, which also means a brief but very special appearance by Aaron Shedlock, who is always amazing.
Full disclosure - I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time. This Ryker spinoff has all of the ingredients for amazing! A sexy cowboy who is a firefighter and a Ryker, narrated in DUET by Jason Clarke with Stella Hunter - SOLD! We had a glimpse of Travis and his rocky marriage in the Ryker Series that barely scratched the surface. Divorce is never easy, but the tumultuous relationship glimpses from other books turned into a traumatizing divorce for him. #GinaSucks He is reeling and trying to rebuild himself with a new start in a new place. Lark is such a complex character. Her sense of humor and sassy personality shine through from the first chapter. She shows her strength every day as she fights to regain her independence and challenge herself following a traumatic experience in her past. She is very mature for her age. I was caught up in both characters from the beginning. They just fit together and connect in that way that everyone longs for. You just know it! This book is so hot you will need a fire extinguisher close by - be warned!
Jason and Stella work very well in duet to bring this story to life in a way you just don’t get outside of duet. From the subtle giggles They blend together seamlessly in every scene, from the sassy dialogue to the scenes so hot you will be glad Travis is a firefighter! Yowza! I have listened through multiple times now, and it will do so again! I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book!
I received an #AdvancedListenerCopy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
There's something forbidden about an age gap romance that always intrigues me as a reader and this story was no different.
Travis and Lark's story took turns I didn't expect. Let's start with Lark, who may be my favorite heroine Kim Loraine has ever crafted. Her battle with PTSD and anxiety is showcased in the best way where she is far from a victim. For those who face mental health issues, it's sometimes hard to see mental health in books because it isn't always portrayed with grace. However, Kim Loraine tells Lark's journey of PTSD/anxiety and her recovery in a way that is relatable and crushes stigmas. She is not one-dimensional and doesn't let mental health define her. The grocery store scene alone makes Lark a warrior for those who struggle with anxiety. It's also important that her relationship with Travis isn't defined by her struggles.
Speaking of, Travis Ryker. What a babe. He is the ideal romantic hero in so many ways. Cowboy, firefighter, southern tang, it's all there for romance readers to swoon over. Serious content aside, this book is SEXY – age gap romances with a hint of daddy kink.
The audiobook with Jason Clarke is some of his best growly work. He is smooth like butter in the be best ways. It's also key to point out how much Stella Hunter's work has improved over the last year or so. Her voice is calm, clear and has a level of vulnerability that is perfect for Lark.
Ignite is the perfect title for this book. It was absolute Fire. As if I already wasn't obsessed with the Ryker siblings, Kim Loraine gives us another Ryker who isn't only a cowboy, but a hot Firefighter. After his failed marriage, Travis Ryker moved to California from Sunrise, Montana in search of a new start. Travis never expected that his new start will come in the form of a 21 year old girl he almost ran over with his truck. Lark was young, but she had experienced loss and trauma like no other. She was a survivor, but she was broken inside; shattered and having a difficult time putting the pieces back together.
I absolutely loved Travis and Lark's story. Despite their age difference, Travis and Lark, were two people who lost a big part of them. They were selfless, caring and loyal. Lark was such a beautiful, strong person. She had endured so much and just when she felt she could never get a part of her back, Travis gave her so much more. I read the ebook and listened to the audio at the same time. This was another stellar performance from Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. They did a phenomenal job bringing Travis and Lark to life. Jason has a way of narrating his characters with such raw passion and emotion allowing us to experience every part of that character. Stella was perfect as Lark. This is another book I will be adding to my re-listen/re-read list.
Ignite by Kim Loraine is a deliciously sexy, addicting story, written in K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World. It is a forbidden/age gap romance and is a spin off from the author’s Ryker Ranch Series.
Travis is healing from a nasty divorce. He is doing his best to pick up the pieces his ex wife left him in and start his life over. He is charming, handsome and protective. The moment he meets Lark she sparks something in him that gives him light again.
Lark is suffering from PTSD due a school shooting at the college she attends. She is having difficulty going to the grocery store, and being in large crowds. She had her demons to overcome, but she is strong and determined.
I loved Lark and Travis’ connection. They have instant chemistry, and every time Travis calls Lark sweetness, I swooned so hard. Through their complicated pasts they find healing within one another but it isn’t all smooth sailing for them as Lark’s father is Travis’ fire chief and Travis’ ex wife isn’t going away quietly either. They definitely had their obstacles to overcome.
The duet narration is beautifully done. Jason Clarke really had the growl going on in this one and Stella Hunter’s sweet tone made for a fantastic pairing. Also Aaron Shedlock’s cameo at the end is a real treat.

Ignite by Kim Loraine is an age-gap romance in the Everyday Heroes World. I discovered Kim Loraine with her Ryker Ranch series, which I absolutely love. This story bridges the two worlds as the hero here is a cousin of the Rykers.
Ignite centers on the sizzling connection between Travis, a sexy as sin firefighter/cowboy and Lark, a much younger, college-aged woman, who are instantly drawn to each other. Both Travis and Lark are wounded characters who eventually find strength and comfort in each other. Travis was burned badly by his ex-wife and Lark has had a traumatic incident in her past that she's been struggling to recover from.
The duet style narration of this story is perfect for showcasing the chemistry these two have for each other. Jason Clarke is perfectly cast and absolutely smolders as Travis. Stella Hunter does a wonderful job bringing all the dimensions of Lark’s character to life, showing both her fierce independence, and the vulnerability that her past has left her with.
The attraction between these two is off the charts. Even though there is a fairly large age difference, these two characters have so many layers that it’s easy to see why they develop such a deep connection so quickly. The very real world issues that they both are facing help elevate the story from your traditional age-gap trope to a much more compelling and nuanced romance.
A great premise, an engaging blurb, a few of my favourite tropes, forbidden heroine, age gap, firefighter hero, but I really struggled with this couple, I just wasn’t invested in them together.
Separately they are good solid characters, but there was too much outside noise going on for me to be able to enjoy them together.
The story started off well, and I loved the ‘meet cute’ but after that my mind drifted a bit, Travis was almost obsessed by his ex wife, not still in love with her, not even liking her, but she was constantly there, and not even physically for the majority of the book, but she always seemed to be in Travis’ thoughts.
Lark, I loved, a strong heroine who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it, her only flaw imo is that she forgave Travis too easily, he was in the wrong and should have come grovelling, but other than that, Lark was the highlight of the story for me.
The heat in the bedroom certainly wasn’t lacking, but there were times outside these scenes, that I found my mind on other things, rereading sentences I’d accidentally skipped.
I do have to say, my brain is a little preoccupied right now and I’m also a little bitter, so maybe I need to go away and give this story another try at another time, as it does have the potential to be great.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book. Narration by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter with a cameo by Aaron Shedlock.
This was a stand-alone and I had no prior knowledge of any of the characters and I loved it, but others have mentioned other books about the Ryker Ranch were Travis is from and now I need to hear more from the other books!
I was completely taken with Lark and Travis. I loved seeing how their relationship began and how it evolves throughout this book. These two were meant for one another and I really didn’t see their age difference as a stumbling block, it just seemed to be destined to be. It was special right from the get go.
Jason was amazing as Travis, he shows such emotion and strength. Travis was broken by his past before he literally runs into Lark at the beginning of this story. Jason’s performance was perfection. Stella’s performance as Lark was also heartfelt and emotional, even the cameos from Aaron were awesome. Kim really knows how to choose narrators who encapsulate the emotions and the characteristics of her characters so well that I couldn’t put this book down. Having a multi cast audiobook is like hearing a movie and this one will definitely be one that I return to for a repeat listen again and again.
Ignite by Kim Loraine is quite deliciously sexy and addicting to listen/read. The characters written well and the story is beautifully done. It is a forbidden/age gap trope which I don’t mind at all. Travis is getting over a nasty divorce with Gina, years ago but Gina had her way to manipulate him a lot. He always go back to her but enough was enough. He moved out to California and go live his own as a firefighter. He was born and raise as a gentleman southern cowboy in sunrise, Montana. Overall, this is a spin off fr. Ryker ranch series and nice to see a couple of them in the book. It’s pleasant to read/hear some familiar characters in the mix!!! Overall, he was smitten with Lark who is so young for him but those 2 can not deny the sparks they have. Hence forth, the title, every time they see each other, they tend to “ignite” fire in their eyes, in their attraction. I do love a little unexpected surprises along the journey of reading/listening to it. Narrators: Jason Clarke & Stella Hunter did such a great job- they paired up so beautifully- amazing chemistry! I would recommend this book if you want forbidden, a bit steamy and heartfelt romance! 3.5/5 stars
Ignite is an Everyday Heroes and Ryker Ranch crossover story that gives us the story of Travis Ryker. Travis is a rodeo cowboy/rancher turned firefighter. After finding out his wife has been cheating on him while he was off fighting the wildfires in Australia, Travis takes a new job and moves to the small town of Sunrise. On a drive home, Travis clips Lark on her vespa with his truck.
Lark; is a skittish college student struggling with PTSD after a traumatic event. Nothing her therapist recommends seems to help. Until the fated day that she gets into an accident with Travis. They are the definition of insta-lust. They face the struggles that come with a large age-gap and the fact that Lark’s father is Travis’s boss.
I really enjoyed this book. There’s a swoony cowboy firefighter with a hero complex and a spunky college girl. You get everything Kim Loraine with a touch of K. Bromberg’s world.
Audio Review: Ignite is narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. Jason has the growl and grit of a cowboy and charisma of a sexy firefighter. Stella brings a sweet naivete to Lark. These two are perfect together. You can really feel all the emotions these two characters have come through these two narrators.
Ignite is one of books in The Everyday Heroes World Series. This audio book is told in duet narration from Lark and Travis. I really enjoy duet narration, so that made the book more fun! This is an age gap romance.
Lark and Travis meet when Travis accidently clips the bike she is riding. He takes her to the hospital and stays with her. They start to have feelings for each other.
When he's at the fire station, she shows up, and it turns out his captain is her dad. So they hide their relationship from him. Both Travis and Lark are going through something. Lark had a traumatic past, and has trouble being in big crowds. Travis is going through a divorce, and his ex wife won't leave him alone.
As the book continues their feelings for each other grow. However Lark isn't sure if Travis is fully over his ex wife. What happens when the ex wife shows back up. What happens when one of their lives gets put in danger? What happens when her father finds out about their relationship?
I really enjoyed this book, and am excited to go read more about the other members of Travis's family.
Note: An ARC was provided by the publisher via Grey's Promotions.
Kim Loraine is a new-to-me author and Ignite is my introduction to her writing! This also happens to be her contribution to the multi-authored Everyday Heroes World that is a collection of stories inspired by K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes series. Loraine's book is also a spin-off of her Ryker Ranch series, and yes, I added those books to my never-ending to-be-read list as soon as I was done reading the new book.
I do love a well-written age-gap romance, particularly one that has the level of complexity that Lark and Travis's story has. Both main characters have gone through quite a bit of upheaval in their respective lives, but when their paths cross, there's just something about their connection that made me sit up and take notice. They were such a strong couple, and I enjoyed reading their story. Ignite receives four stars.
I absolutely LOVE me some yummy firemen, and Travis certainly fit the bill in my eyes. He's starting fresh after a divorce when he meets a young girl named Lark. This girl has been through so much that I wanted to hug her, but somehow she didn't let it get her down. Now, I have no issues with age-gap romance and since Lark is half his age, it kept him from trying to go there though they had some big time chemistry. I really enjoy Kim Loraine's writing style, but the daddy sexy scenes just don't do it for me, as I just can't once that world is used for whatever reason but different strokes for different folks & all. Everything else about this story had me glued to the pages, and that's why I gave it 4 stars instead of less as I tend to stay away from the daddy books. Anyway, please understand this is only my opinion, and I hope you will decide for yourselves by hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Ignite by Kim Loraine follows Travis, the fire-fighting Ryker (from the Ryker Rach family) and Lark, his Chief’s daughter. This was narrated in duet by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter.
Travis moved to California to get a fresh start after his divorce. He works as a fire-fighter; pretty much keeps to himself and spends his free time with his ranch horse. He meets Lark, a college student, after accidentally hitting her while on her Vespa. Travis takes Lark to the hospital and comforts her when she has an anxiety attack. From there they lean on each other as they go through each of their personal challenges and pasts that keep rearing their ugly heads.
This was an age-gap romance that had lots of the steamy goodness that Kim Loraine delivers. Add to that the growl coming from Jason Clarke as Travis and Stella Hunter’s sultry voice as Lark made for a wonderful listen. I liked the overall story and will follow all the Rykers wherever they go. I do wish that karma gets Gina good.
This is the one. This book. This is my favourite of the entire Sunrise Cowboys series. I did NOT expect to love this as much as I did. I didn’t think anything could top the series so far but this book has done exactly that.
Even though we weren’t on our lovely Ryker Ranch for this book, California offered up the perfect setting for Travis and Lark’s age gap, forbidden romance.
I adored this book from page 1 (it helps of course to have Jason Clarke, Stella Hunter and Aaron Shedlock narrating alongside my book). I say a lot of the time “I adored this book” but genuinely, this book brought a whole new meaning to that phrase. I fell head over boots for Travis (I mean, hello?! It’s Jason Clarke; how could I not?).
Once again, Kim Loraine has smashed the short and sweet romances. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself when I finish this series…. Let’s be honest, yes I do - I’ll just do a reread 😂
