Absolutely adooooored this. I was a bit hesitant in the beginning, but god it was so well written and dynamic. It got me hooked. It had a mix of comedy and seriousness, that was executed so well. It didn't feel forced. The story just flowed and I loved the characters. I feel like we could've gotten a little more from Kai, but what was given was just enough to count. I loved how blunt and deadpan he was and I loved Hiro's awkwardness. The whole thing about the job too?? Sometimes when romances start branching into a side conflict not really related to the romance, I don't get super invested in it, but this one I did. I liked following Hiro's work life and seeing him grow in that aspect. The whole struggle of being stuck in a constant routine and the hamster wheel to nowhere metaphor was relatable. I liked reading about it, I guess.

Anyway, absolutely recommend this and I'll probably pick up more from this author.

Side note: the beginning was sooo familiar? I feel like I read it somewhere, but the rest of the story wasn't so that kind of tripped me out lol.

Bitch, I am cRYING. I don't remember crying this much the first time I read this. It wasn't that long ago, but I bought the physical so I wanted to reread and I guess I loved it even more the second time. The way Kai and Hiro changed each other's lives for the better in different ways even though they each felt that their own existence was pointless/indifferent??? SOBBING. It's such a good story.

Bought the English physical so obviously had to reread and yup I did cry again. I can see this not being for everyone since the main focus of the story is really Hiro and his own growth. A lot of it revolves around his job and Kai is not as involved in the story as a love interest usually is in a romance. However I just love the messaging in this so much and the romance is still pretty good. I'm so glad I read it again.

I had this sitting on the shelf for a wee while and decided to pick it up now after watching the drama adaptation based on this. The manga and drama stick surprisingly close together, though I still think it is worth to give both a try. Where the manga seems to focus more on Hiro's point of view, the drama also gives us more of Kai's so there are definitely a few differences and nuances that the different mediums deliver. If I'd have to choose, I did end up prefer the drama - surprising as I found it, the drama was more detailed. It surprised me as it's usually the adaptation that leaves out bits and feels like a rushed or shortened version of the source material - in this case it feels like the opposite is the case.

Perfect Propose is easily one of the better standalone manga in this genre - it's also a little thicker giving the story more time to develop. Despite being a romance, there is also a strong focus on work life, in fact, I would say that Hiro's unhealthy work and life balance takes centre stage. Many subjects such as trauma from a toxic work environment, bad health from being overworked and general bad side effects it has on ones personal life are explored not only through Hiro and Kai's growing relationship but also through Hiro's colleagues such as how he sees himself through his supervisor or juniors. This aspect in particular was explored a bit better in the drama, but it was still touched on nicely in the manga.

Kai has his own share of worries and they, while not to quite the same extent, are also explored and parallels drawn to Hiro's. It's reasonably light on comedy, explored serious themes but still has a sweet romance. One beef I had, I thought the opening intimate scene felt very out of place and didn't contribute to the plot, but it's such a common among BL manga, I kind of shrugged. Apart from that, Hiro and Kai's shared history, albeit quite long ago, helped give their relationship a foundation and made their encounter feel less random and just gave their interactions a more organic feeling given they only had one volume to wrap up their story.

For a standalone, I think this was really well done and would definitely recommend it, but I stand by that I preferred the drama. Nonetheless, both are worth a try.

Ich war hier leider super enttäuscht. Ich meine sogar, dass ich eine solche Story schonmal gelesen habe. Es ist also weder etwas sonderlich Originelles (und das muss es ja nicht immer sein) noch besonders fesselnd oder gut. Lediglich die Story war gut aufgebaut, sodass es nicht zu abrupt zu einem Ende gekommen ist.

Ein ruhiger BL, der im Arbeitsleben spielt.
Wie immer passiert bei Contemp-Mangas sehr wenig, aber mir gefiel, wie sie das Leben der Arbeitsdrohne dargestellt haben. Kai sit extrem süß gegenüber Hiro, und auch die Hintergründe von beiden wirken realistischer als bei einigen anderen BLs.
Hübsch gezeichnet ist es auch.

Bref, « Proposition Idéale » est un yaoï sans surprise mais très bien exécuté. J’ai apprécié les personnages principaux ainsi que les quelques personnages secondaires qui gravitent autour d’eux. Leur relation évolue lentement mais sûrement et c’était agréable de les voir se tourner autour et s’apprivoiser petit à petit. J’ai aussi aimé la façon dont les thèmes du burn-out et du harcèlement au travail ont été amenés et développés. C’est un problème qui s’insinue de plus en plus dans notre société et dont il est difficile de se dépêtre et j’ai trouvé que cet aspect était bien représenté ici.

mit ein perfekter Antrag bringt Egmont einen wunderbar ruhigen und sanft erzählten BL One Shot zu uns.

Wir haben eine friends-to-lovers Geschichte, die sich langsam entwickelt.
Kein Wunder, denn da Hirokuni in einer Ausbeuter-Firma feststeckt, findet sich nicht viel Zeit, um Dinge voranzutreiben. Seine Gedanken- und Gefühlswert sind der Fokuspunkt der Erzählung.

Dennoch bekommen beide Charaktere genug Backstory, um greifbar zu sein und den Lesenden deren Verbindung deutlich zu machen.

Der leicht skizzenhafte Zeichenstil gefällt mir sehr gut, vor allem weil auch regelmäßig an Hintergründe gedacht wurde.

Wenn es eine Sache gibt, die mich nicht vollends überzeugt hat, dann war es das etwas zügig abgehandelte Ende. Ein Kapitel mehr hätte der Story sicher gut getan. Aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau. Insgesamt ist dies einfach ein wirklich schöner Einzelband, den ich gern gelesen habe und der mich wunderbar entspannt hat.

Great read. It was much more than romance. The characters were so relatable, especially in the work environment. No matter how tired you get, or what you got going on in your life, the show will go on and, the companies will get what they want regardless by sucking poor workers dry. The couple was so damn cute tho!! “If my life is a waste then fuck’s sake at least let me live the rest of it with you” had my ass squealing, giggling and kicking my feet🤣🥰😩

Die Stärke dieses Manga ist eindeutig der Blick auf Hirokunis Arbeitsleben. Die bedrückende Atmosphäre im Büro und die Last, der er nicht entkommen kann sind gut spürbar. Auch die körperliche sowie geistige Erschöpftheit kamen sehr gut rüber.

Der romantische Aspekt der Geschichte wirkte daneben recht plump, wenig einfallsreich und kaum entwickelt - soetwas habe ich auch schon zu oft in BL gelesen und mir fehlte diesbezüglich das gewisse Etwas, um diesem Teil der Geschichte etwas abgewinnen zu können.
Aufgrund von Hiros Arbeitssituation bleibt den beiden verständlicherweise kaum Zeit für Privates, sodass das Ende des Manga, sprich der Beginn ihrer romantischen Beziehung, einfach sehr schnell kommt. Mir fehlte in der Hinsicht einfach der Funke zwischen den beiden. Ich denke, der Geschichte hätte da, wenn kein ganzer zweiter Band, mindestens ein weiteres Kapitel, gut getan, um in meinen Augen vielleicht als Liebesgeschichte zu funktionieren.
Als Freunde und Mitbewohner widerum haben die zwei mir gut gefallen - die Freundschaft fühlte sich für mich aufgrund ihrer gemeinsamen Vergangenheit und der Zeit zu zweit nach ihrem Wiedersehen viel natürlicher an als eine romantische Beziehung.

The strength of this manga is clearly the look into Hirokuni's working life. The oppressive atmosphere in the office and the burden he cannot escape are palpable. The physical and mental exhaustion also came across very well.

In comparison, the romantic aspect of the story seemed rather clumsy, unimaginative, and hardly developed - I simply have read this kind of thing too often in BL and it lacked that certain something to make me care about this part of the story.
Due to Hiro's work situation, the two of them understandably have little time for personal matters, so the end of the manga, i.e. the beginning of their romantic relationship, happens very quickly. I just felt Hiro and Kai lacked chemistry in that respect. I think the story would have benefited from at least one more chapter, if not a whole second volume, for me to have maybe worked as a love story.
On the other hand, I really liked them as friends and flatmates - learning about their pasts and seeing how they interact with each other now, their friendship felt much more natural to me than their romantic relationship.

Hiro & Kai are old childhood friends who suddenly find themselves as roommates, two adults who are learning to appreciate life in new ways.

I thought this manga was a very realistic portrayal of burnout. Depression even.

Being a workaholic is no joke, especially when employed at a company that’s essentially gaslighting and abusing you.
When Hiro was explaining to Kai that the reason for his insomnia is because if he falls asleep it’ll be tomorrow even sooner… oof. I don’t think a single week has passed by in my adult life where I haven’t felt that way at least once.
As a matter of fact, I read this manga on a Sunday night to distract myself from thinking about Monday. 😬

Kai growing up without a family, without anyone who made and kept promises, and not really processing that he has the right to selfishly want things and be disappointed in people was so sad. I understood the feeling of not wanting to be pitied by people though.
It’s such a sick feeling, being othered like that.

I truly just appreciated the theme of hope throughout each chapter so much.
“Sometimes… it’s the littlest things that save you.”
When Kai was a kid, he just wanted someone who made him feel normal, who made him feel needed. Necessary.
Hiro was his hope that he mattered in a world that was telling him he was a nuisance.
On the flip side, there’s grown-up Hiro who won’t quit his job because the daydream of being happier without it is quite LITERALLY what keeps him going. He thinks if he quits then he’ll truly have nothing to live for…
It’s heartbreaking and beautiful that two people can be each other’s rocks in a world so insistent upon beating us all down.

The confession scene really gripped me. It was like.. romcom proposal dramatics (hence the manga title) + anti-work sentiments + radical acceptance, so of course I loved it. 😭
Maybe the ultimate theme of Perfect Propose is just.. be gay!!! quit ur job!!! lmao

Das Cover von “Ein perfekter Antrag” zeigt den gemütlichen Vibe der Story genau so wie er auch ist. Der schöne Zeichenstil zieht sich ebenfalls durch den ganzen Manga. Auch die Bilder, welche ein neues Kapitel einleiten sind mega gezeichnet!

Der überarbeitete Programmierer Hirokuni nimmt seinen Schulfreund Kai, den er mehrere Jahre nicht gesehen hat, in seiner Wohnung auf, da dieser zur Zeit keine Unterkunft hat. Dieser macht ihm noch am selben Tag klar, dass er schwul ist.
Kai gibt Hirokuni wieder einen Grund von der Arbeit nach Hause zu kommen und erleichtert ihm seinen Alltag.
Der Fokus liegt zwar schon auf deren Beziehung zueinander, aber gleichzeitig wird auch die Arbeitswelt sowie das Privatleben beider beleuchtet, was die Story wesentlich ausgeglichener macht!

Der Titel ist definitiv rechtmäßig. Die Art wie Hirokuni reagiert, als er droht seinen Freund wieder gehen lassen zu müssen, ist herzerwärmend.

Ça faisait une éternité que ce manga traînait dans ma bibliothèque et .... J'ai adoré ce yaoi!
Dès les premiers chapitres, je me suis laissée emporté par l'histoire et nos deux personnages principaux.

Ici, l'histoire est vraiment axé sur la relation entre Hirokuni et Kaï, leurs états d'âmes, sentiments et leurs quotidien individuels.

Plus l'histoire avance, plus on découvre un Hirokuni qui se fait exploiter et qu'il subit malgré tout et que Kai, tranquillement et doucement, devient son pilier.

C'est sans brusquer, dans le respect et le réconfort qu'ils s'épanouissent ensemble.
J'ai bien aimé leur complicité, les petites chamailleries et petites attentions qui ont su faire fondre mon petit cœur.

La fin est juste trop bien! C'est juste parfait pour des Oneshots!

Les dessins sont bien, quoi que classique mais ne vole pas la vedette à l'histoire!

C'est mignon et d'une douceur attendrissante!

An sich ein wirklich guter Mangaband. Anstelle der Liebesgeschichte haben mich aber vor allem Hirokunis Arbeitsplatzprobleme und wie er mit ihnen fertig geworden ist am meisten interessiert. Klar, hat auch Kai zu seinen Entscheidungen minimal beigetragen, trotzdem konnte ich dem Romance-Aspekt leider nicht so viel abgewinnen, vielleicht weil ich die Chemie nicht so ganz gesehen hab. Ich finde generell diesen Trope des “Hetero”, der dann “plötzlich” schwul oder bi ist, selten gut gemacht. Für die Glaubwürdigkeit hätten die beiden wahrscheinlich mehr Zeit auf den Seiten miteinander verbringen müssen, da aber halt auch Hirokunis Arbeitsplatz so im Vordergrund stand, war das aber nicht möglich. Ich finde aber, aus diesem Plot konnte man einiges auch für sich mitnehmen. Alles in allem trotzdem ein guter Manga, würde ihn als BL aber nur bedingt empfehlen.

J'ai vraiment aimé l'histoire. Elle a un vrai sens et une bonne morale.

La romance a un beau développement, j'ai beaucoup aimé. C'est tendre et touchant.

Les dessins sont vraiment beaux.

Et les personnages sont très intéressants avec leur problématique révoltante pour l'un, touchante pour l'autre, et la dynamique entre eux m'a beaucoup plu.

Mais quand même une bonne grosse étoile en mois pour le consentement bafoué. Je suis de moins en moins tolérante.

Cela dit... le reste était quand même chouette alors voilà... Mais plize, que les mangas (yaoi surtout) se mettent à la page niveau consentement, nom de dieu !

Donc bon, lisez le en gardant ça en tête quoi... C'est dommage parce que le reste 👌🏻

Was für eine süße Bürostory! Ehrlich gesagt habe ich nicht erwartet, dass Hirokunis Arbeig so einen großen Anteil der Story ausmacht. Seine Arbeit ist nicht wirklich die angenehmste und er muss sich fragen, ob seine Arbeit es Wert ist sein Privatleben dafür komplett zu opfern. Kai war mir auch sehr sympathisch, aber etwas zu blass. Bis auf seine Familiensituation erfährt man leider gar nichts über ihn. Hier hätte ich mir mehr Charakter gewünscht. Insgesamt ist das ein schöner ruhiger Einzelband, der erst gegen Ende hin etwas spicy wird und dabei auch nicht zu sehr ins Detail geht. Perfekt für Einsteiger!

Un BL entre dos amics d'infància amb una mica de diferència d'edat que es retroben 10 anys més tard. El gran és un oficinista workaholic molt extrem, que no menja ni dorm perquè l'han estat rentant el cervell dient que és un mediocre. El jove, que ja estava sol de petit, ha estat acollit pel seu cap, però ara que ha patit un accident el fill l'ha fet fora de casa. Comencen a conviure i es replantegen la vida, sobretot l'oficinista que està amargat perdut i no encaixa gaire bé la seva sexualitat... Ta bé, però li falta intensitat i anar per feina :/

In a world where "wearing you down" is a common yaoi trope that I can resign myself to if well done, this was pretty well done.
There is true character development inside AND outside of the relationship, Hiro's struggles felt very relatable to me and the art style was a fresh take I hadn't seen all too often.
I still hate that this has sexual assault, I hate even more that the text acknowledges it as such, but there are ZERO consequences. The predatory elements thankfully don't continue after the incident.

Avis : autant j’ai aimé l’idée de base une amitié de plusieurs années où les personnages se retrouvent une fois adulte la façon dont ils se retrouvent etc … Par contre la relation entre les deux personnages ne m’a absolument pas plu, et un scénario très facile, et je ne lui ai pas trouvé un grand intérêt. Dans cette histoire, les personnages principaux ne m’ont pas captivé, bref très déçu. Je n’aurais pas grand chose à dire de plus car je n’ai rien aimé au final à part le résumé.

J'ai bien aimé le thème principal de ce manga. Je trouve ça bien de parler de harcèlement au travail et de l'impact que cela peut avoir dans notre vie.
Concernant la relation, c'était sympa mais je déplore le manque de consentement qu'il y a eu à deux reprises...

This one has a lot of potential. A few more chapters and we could have gotten a solid commentary on hustle culture (when to endure vs. when to quit). Also, Kai's reason for finding Hiro feels like a weak plot point to me, especially since they haven't seen each other for so long.
