Taisha Ryan is a writer and artist from New York. Writing has been her passion since the age of 12, allowing her to express her wild imagination through words. Taisha has written short stories, novels, poems, songs, and screenplays. In March 2014, she published her debut novel, Cuffed. And since then, has published three additional novels. She would describe her stories as raw, creatively uninhibited, and true to life. Words are power. And her intent is to take readers on an emotional journey as they experience the world through her mind's eye, while also providing them with a sense of purpose with each word that drips from the page. And with her gift, she believes she can do just that.
I’ve been a Taisha Ryan fan since her 1st book Cuffed. Her writing is underrated and she always delivers. Jah and Nari’s relationship began very platonic and I liked the way they both struggled with their desire to be with one another. They finally decided to throw caution to the wind and act in those feelings. Jah being a popular artist in the music business, I was wondering how Nari would be able to keep up with his high profile lifestyle. I admired Nari for sticking with her beliefs, but soon Jah’s lifestyle slowly starting to change the conservative Nari. The drinking, smoking, money, clothes and partying all started to take a turn for the worse for Nari. Jah’s music career was booming but everything comes with a price, right? The story started off a little slow, but it soon picked up. Jah and Nari took you on a whirlwind ride and left you with a cliffhanger. All I can say is THAT ENDING!! Can’t wait for part 2.
I have read every single book that Taisha Ryan has written. She really knows how to weave a tale. Enigma is drastically different from her other works in the way that the main characters trauma appears. In previous books characters deal with internal turmoil. We met them as they are working through their trauma. We meet Jah and Nari before, we walk through their trauma with them. We see the impact that their environment has on their actions. I have to be honest and acknowledge that it took me a few days to truly get into this book, but once I was in, I WAS IN! I was completely unprepared for the drama and trauma that ensues. Great Read!
I enjoyed this book but I must say that it could have been even better. I just needed Nari to do better. She had no dreams or plans to support herself other than running behind Jah Soul and being his "chef". I mean wouldn't you go to school, get a certification, something? What was the back up plan here. She had so much free time and did nothing for herself. I could have also done without Jah and the CEO storyline. I guess the author needed something that would push him over the edge even though he was already there. Overall, I like the story and will read the second book.
Taisha Ryan you wrote this book with flare and passion! You had me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next bomb 💣 to dropped! Lawd I want to hate Jahsir but I can’t, he’s a victim of his desire, a prey! Nari Nari I just don’t know what to say! Please don’t let it be with Miko! I can’t wait 😊 for the next installment! That cliffhanger took me out!
This book 📖 have you questioning yourself, how far will you go to get the desires of your heart? How much of your soul are you willing to lose?
I really enjoyed reading this book. Jahsir, Jahsir what can I say he should have come clean and just tell it. be careful about those who we think we can trust. This book had everything in it and I could not put it down it did drag in some areas but it was a great read and actually this is my first time reading anything from this author and I will read or buy more of her books great job Ms. Ryan. Can't wait for book 2, hope it won't be too long.
I don't know... There is a lot happening a lot of crazy for an ordinary day. I loved the way they started and was ok with his initial struggle with infidelity but even with the mental struggles the weakness was weak. It dragged sometimes not sure why - But its definitely a different story a different take. I didn't pay attention to see its a series I probably should have waited. all that to say id recommend reading but hopefully after book 2.
This book was okay, too much moving parts, i like the start with the Jamaican dialogue, it took me back home as a Caribbean gal, but then it became that same mundane reading, he have no time for her , he fucking other people, drugs guns. It was over for me then, hopefully book two is better.
Overall just okay for me. Started out great though. Loved the lead-in with Jah’s life/ music ... why he ended up in Jamaica. Even liked how Nari ended up in going back to the States with him. It was odd but okay, I accepted it. Loved the beginnings of their relationship... how they struggled with crossing the line between employer & employee ... well written!! What I didn’t like was the open-ended way her life with him was left. Yes she was technically his chef, but she had a ton of free time where she was so bored. Why didn’t she do something to better herself? Take some classes.. get a degree... Really didn’t care for that area of the book. Book sort of dragged during those times (for me). Nothing really interesting happened. What I ABSOLUTELY didn’t like was all the cheating. Won’t give away anything else but I didn’t realize this was a part 1. I will read part 2 because this storyline was so different from others I have read. That was a plus for me. Really hope it’s not a long wait. Would recommend this book. This is my 2nd read by this author. I like her
Pretty good read. They beginning was pretty interesting and then the story started to drag for me. I honestly didn't finish reading the book i stopped at like 47% because the plot was just....I'm not sure how to explain. This was my first time reading from this author ,I'm looking forward to reading from her again
I can’t wait to read Part 2.. I could not put this book down. I read it in a few hours. The book is great from start to finish. I could really feel the love between Nari and Jah, but the music industry is not for the weak.. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
