In the remote stretches of southern Florida, a string of deadly animal attacks begin to surface near the borders of a housing development project. When evidence at the latest scene suggests that a massive predator may be the source of the carnage, a local crocodilian specialist is brought in as a consultant. Soon an effort is launched by the police and the coast guard to successfully locate and capture the ancient creature, which threatens the lives of everyone in the expedition, as well as the surrounding communities.
The story was a bit slow at first, but it did pick up speed. I liked the ending. The author told the surgery well. I will look for other novels from this author. I know they will be great.
Overall I liked this book a lot. Couple of weak places: I felt the horrible feud between two of the characters was built up and built up and then just popped like a soap bubble and the ending was weak. I just love this genre and will read more by this author tho.

Nothing like reading a book full of action to take you away from reality. I would have given a higher rating, but the ending was a total let down. I raced through it and then the ending………

MEGACROC BOOK REVIEW: MAYHEM AND MADNESS, CAN YOU SURVIVE? Joey Kelly (also known by the pen name Julian Michael Carver) is an Amazon Bestselling Author, writing works based in the lost world sub-genre of science fiction.
Something Has Awakened In the remote stretches of southern Florida, a string of deadly animal attacks begin to surface near the borders of a housing development project. When the evidence at the latest scene suggests that a massive predator may be the source of the carnage, a local crocodilian specialist is brought in as a consultant. Soon an effort is launched by the police and the coast guard to successfully locate and capture the ancient creature, which threatens the lives of everyone in the expedition, as well as the surrounding communities.
You want to hunt for the beastie from the Florida Everglades, huh?
If you love Lake Placid or creature features in general, then Megacroc is the book for you. The hunt for a killer in Southern Florida reveals more than just intrigue around crocodiles but also interpersonal drama surrounding the characters that populate the pages of this glorious creature-feature novel.
The writing is crisp, the pace is fast yet not rushed, and there's nothing like reading a book full of action to take you away from reality, and some cool set-pieces. The ending could have been perceived better, maybe a little rushed, or lacking a few chapters just to tie-off a few points. And poor Charlie (you just know when a character is cannon-fodder!) in any B-Grade movie, and yikes, the man had to go, really, he did.
But overall, the story caught and held my attention just like the big beastie catching 'its' prey... Julian has other titles out too! Triassic: A New Era in Prehistoric Terror will be my next read of his. 4/5 STARS
If you are a horror film fan then this book is for you! There's teenagers being eaten by a super croc and some decent character development. The author goes into great detail about every scene and does not leave a lot to speculation. Tying up many loose ends throughout the story.
Even through this is in the fiction section, the author pulled real events to intertwine with the story. I kept finding myself fact checking the book through the google. Everything checked out :) Which gave it the impression that this could be happening in the deep unexplored regions of or present world.
For the parts I don't like...I wish it had more croc. The croc scenes were very thrilling but I'm wanting more. There was a lot of character development between humans, but I'm on Team Super Croc all the way! I want more croc scenes!
Overall I really liked the book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a horror flick. The real events and small details were very story setting. I'll definitely be looking forward to this authors journey as a writer and new literary works.
My review on Goodreads of “Mega Croc” by Julian Michael Carver
Sheriff Jacob Dawson is left stunned and confused about what could be killing residents in murky waters so big it defies modern thought. With the need to bring in an expert that has a past history with another officer, things could get heated by old bad memories. With this in mind, they all will have to come together to solve murders and prevent more if they can.
Julian Michael Carver’s work, “Mega Croc” is filled with danger, intense moments and choices that make it a must read.
Things to note, that this author does write children’s books, but this book is for adults. With swearing and profanity, it’s a caution to those who are sensitive to it.
I liked the main characters and others. I did feel like there were a lot to keep tracking in my mind, but the book had great details.
I give this book 4/5 stars. This is my take, but with less characters, means closer intimate look at their lives and stronger scares. It’s not bad. Good book. I look forward to more work from this author.
Enjoyed reading, interesting story premise. But needs some one to do a read through for editing errors. One example guy “jumped into passenger seat” then turns on car and starts to drive? Personalities of the characters are rather childish? Decisions don’t make sense. If you know your employee had a bad break off with former best friend and never talked again hating each other... why would you then send that person to plead your case and ask for help? Why if in life and death situation chasing a deadly animal would you suddenly feel guilty that your date’s hair is wet and lipstick smudged when she doesn’t care and demanded to come along? Avoiding killer animal yet runs around car to open door for woman before running for safety? I think she can open her own door. I realize the attempt is to make characters more friendly maybe? But just makes the characters childish and fickle and brainless. Detracts from the overall story.
An enjoyable 'creature-feature' but some of the dialogue, especially that between the main character and his love interest, was often just cringe. Sometimes it's just bad dialogue; sometimes it's the dialogue placed in a peculiar context. For instance, at one point a romantic dinner date is interrupted by the death of one's employee. So, they go to the place of death, see the horribly mangled dead body, and then learn that possibly another person is also in danger or dead, and during the course of trying to find this person, they pop off with some lighthearted, flirtatious banter that makes them both chuckle. Give me a break. I guess they both lack empathy and are self-absorbed narcissists.
Would I still try another work by this author? Sure.
I was hooked by the idea of a prehistoric creature roaming the Everglades. The story was good and moved at a good pace, but it was also a little predictable. As you read you begin to pick out the characters, who are going to die. Now this is really a bad thing if you have seen or read enough of the types of stories you just learn what to look for. I had one problem with the story and that was a couple of continuity matters in the story, but they didn't really make for a poor reading just a what the neck moment. Would I read more by this author? Yes, I would because I like a good creature story at least this time the creature was some lab experiment going wrong.
5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 ⭐s Crazy Croc Experts This was an entertaining action packed story about a huge killer Croc. And the efforts the police, sheriff, his deputies, the Coast Guard, and Crocodilian experts made at identifying & investigating a set of suspicious deaths. Then there was a concerted attempt to hunt down the beast not realizing the monster they were actually tracking.
There are so many instances where wrong decisions were made and not realized until later once considered in hindsight. Still despite these annoyances this was an exciting adventure. It was fast paced and if something could go wrong it did.
Great read ! Well put together, weaving multiple threads together for a terrific finished (?) product. The characters are real. Can you imagine chasing after a giant crocodile, in the Everglades, at night, during a rainstorm? Not to kill it,, but to capture it and keep it safe? Why? You 'll have to read the book to find out. I think you' ll enjoy it!
For anyone interested in creature features, you’ll love Megacroc. It has a Jurassic Park and Jaws feel, but is written in a fresh way. Carver proves he’s done his research about alligators and crocodiles, adding another layer to his writing beyond simply entertainment. Just when you think you know the protagonist’s intentions, you’ll be surprised and kept on the edge of your seat. His vivid portrayals of the Everglades and monster gator will leave you satisfied and eager for more!
People are being killed in a new house development area. The Sheriff believes it to be the work of a crocodile. After a young boy and his father are attacked and the father killed, they see a video the boy took. This is no ordinary croc. Mike, who owns an Alligator and Crocodile Sanctuary is called in to try and capture the creature.
This was an entertaining and page turning book. It needs some editing done, but overall a good horror story with a good ending.
This was Lake Placid meets The Lost World Jurassic Park! The last couple of chapters literally had me reading on the edge of my seat. A terrific creature feature that is filled with tremendous detail and diverse characters. If you’re looking for a tense and exhilarating read, look no further than Mega Croc!
F you can put it down you will do nothing but think if it
This book is an enjoyable page turner that sticks with the imagination even when one cant read the next chapter. I hope a sequel comes out with the 3 intrepid investors to see what happens
