She is fire. “Wow! I did not want it to end.” John E. Thomas, The Dreams Guy and president of Streams Ministries “Reading through this manuscript during a time of global upheaval and uncertainty felt like a move of God into an otherwise precarious time.” Crystal L. Clark, homeschool mom “It always lifts me up—and in these times that is precious!” Jane Lambert, author of the Five in a Row homeschool curriculum “Love, love, love this book! It has so much beauty in it!” Trinity, happy bride in Texas “This. Is. Beautiful.” Kate Perkins, Youth With A Mission DTS leader Radiance was named for fire. As a flamemaker, she has fire in her blood and can create it with her hands. Nothing can burn her, and at 8 years old, she’s just as passionate and wild as fire is. All her life, no one has ever understood what it’s like to be wild like fire—until she meets a man named Hawk, who can create lightning with his hands. Hawk knows something about Radiance that she doesn’t know, something important, and it will send her on an adventure that changes her life forever. This book is a prequel to Should I Choose to Die Again, but it also reads as a standalone. Ages 10 and up. Great for hero dads, warrior moms, and children who long for adventure.
This is just an amazing book. Within two and a half hours it made me laugh, cry, and see God in new ways. Radiance is such a funny girl. The way she answers questions, the way she figures things out is so simple, yet so intelligent. She reminds us that you don't have to be a grown up who knows lots of things in order to have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit. She knows that Ruwok understands her and the sweetness of her close relationship with him is inspiring. Also the parallels to real life and real history here are a great tool especially in these interesting times. For The Hamal Books fans, this is an obvious must read. Even though it's not part of the core series it has a lot of new information about some of the characters and the world and the gifts of course. For anyone who has not read any of the series you can still read it perfectly fine! And characters that are not even mentioned much are still full of dimension, and it's a pretty short book! I would add more reasons to read this book but I don't want to spoil anything! So whether you're already a fan of Lauren Stinton's wonderful writing, or you're someone on the search for a refreshing, witty, and meaningful read, this is for you. In my opinion this is a book for all ages. Enjoy! P.S. This is an awesome read for everyone, not just Christians.
The best time to write a review is right after you've read a fabulous book. (Your vocab is exponentially better.) ;-) I think when we grow up and encounter all the unknowns and uncertainty of being an adult, we can forget what it was like to be a child. I've definitely forgotten, and I tend to think I'm good at not forgetting that sort of thing. It was so good to again see the of the gift of 🔥 given to us by Ruwok. His presence in this book was an immeasurable comfort and reminder.
So if you're weary, and in need of a little beauty to replenish your soul, then come. This book is for you, friend. It is beautiful to again see with the eyes of a child.
