This box set contains the first three installments in Hope Callaghan’s awesome Divine Cozy Mystery series. This heartwarming series is full of inspiration, hope, and second chances. The books in this series contain well-plotted mysteries, with well-developed and affable characters. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the delightful cast of characters, watching them grow, and learning their backstories. There are lots of twists and turns, along with multiple suspects to keep readers engaged. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy reading clean, well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Welcome to Divine, Kansas, which is located near the center point of the lower forty-eight United States. Some people claim supernatural powers are associated with the center of anything, and many residents of Divine believe angelic supernatural powers are present in their small town. Joanna “Jo” Pepperdine purchased a Victorian home sitting on ten acres of land. Jo and Pastor Sawyer Murphy became friends shortly after she arrived in Divine. When he learned about her plans for the property, he introduced her to Nash Greyson, a skilled handyman, who she hired on the spot. Jo’s created a haven for women who have recently been released from Central State Women’s Penitentiary who are down on their luck, with nowhere to go, and provides them with a second chance in life. Jo relies heavily on Delta Childress, a talented cook and baker who previously worked as a cook at the penitentiary, Jo’s sounding board, and “housemother” when Jo isn’t available. The women often confide in Delta, who is an exceptional judge of character. In addition to Second Chances’ two stores, Divine Baked Goods Shop and Second Chance Mercantile, where the women work, there are two gardens that are cared for by Gary, Jo’s gardener. Jo helps the women understand finances and other valuable life skills, Delta helps the residents learn their way around a kitchen, Nash teaches the women how to build and repair things, and Gary instructs them on successful gardening.

I really enjoyed this series of three. They have enough mystery to keep you guessing, enough suspense to keep you coming back for more, but they are clean and enjoyable. I hope to read more of this author's books.

Jo Pepperdine hopes Divine, Kansas is a good place to live and will welcome her and those she shelters at her country place near the town. Appearances can sometimes be deceiving, though. Meet Jo and the folks involved with her as she attempts to follow her heart and build her dream. These clean, cozy mysteries feature well developed, intriguing, and sympathetic characters, plus a storyline that will keep you rooting for them and interested in their lives, with tantalizing mysteries in each book. I read the first two in one sitting because I couldn't put them down, then finished the 3rd one the next day!

Great Books
I have read every book in Hope Callaghan's series. I read each of these books when they were individually released and now they are offered in a box set. Joanne Pepperdine is the lead character in this series. She had a troubled childhood as her father treated her mother horribly. When both parents were deceased, Jo inherited the family fortune. As her mother died in prison Jo had a longing to help women incarcerated. Before she sets her plan in action she is overcome with depression and attempts suicide by jumping off a bridge. She is pulled from the river by two men, as witnessed by a man from the bridge. By the time he got to her Jo was alone with no indication anyone else had been there. Angels?????? Could it be? Jo finds a farm for sale that is perfect for her plans. There are colorful characters in the town of Divine, Kansas and some welcome Jo with open arms, some not so much. She along with her pastor screen and choose women ready to be released to come and live and work at the farm, earn money and skills to make it on their own when they are ready to leave the group home. Each story takes you through trials and tribulations that the residents and townspeople deal with. This is a totally clean series. I love them and I think you will too !

The Divine Cozy Mystery Series is set in the town of Divine, Kansas - the Midpoint of the continuous 48 states. Hope Callaghan's writing style has me hooked on page one every time: delightful descriptions of the setting (town and businesses), intriguing well developed characters, twist and turn plot with a believable resolution. As a cozy mystery, the story is never preachy - just the right blend of scripture and spiritual elements. As a reader, I always enjoy how Hope Callaghan summarizes what happened previously, and then throws the reader a new idea or red herring. This helps the reader the remember what has happened and makes the reader speculate who done it. While I am not fond of guns or drug use or crime - it is a part of society and in this series Hope Callaghan in an indirect way addresses contemporary issues (guns, drugs, half way houses, small town prejudices). Hope Callaghan weaves in elements from her other series: an older sleuth, surveillance equipment, and second chances. Duke the dog reminds me of Bush's Beans Duke the Dog (RIP). Each story also has a recipe. A delightful fall read.

Great series of mysteries especially when it involves a halfway house for female convicts. Devine, Kansas is in the middle of nowhere and it's only claim to fame is being the Center of America. It even has a plaque that says so.
When murders happen who gets looked at first? But owner Jo Pepperdine will not let them be railroaded if she has to investigate the crimes herself. Each story stands alone but read in the series you meet and appreciate each one involved.

In the Middle of Kansas
Hope Callaghan has written novels set in the middle of Kansas where Divine's claim to fame is the spot in the geographical center of the 48 contiguous states. Her heroine Jo runs a half way house for former women convicts. Of course, because of the women's conviction of crimes, they are often the first to be suspected of new crimes. Fun, well written novels.

A woman uses her inheritance to purchase a Victorian farmhouse at auction in Kansas, and rehabs it into a halfway house for women just released from prison, plus a 2nd hand store & a bakery. She has 2 men who help, one as a handyman and one as a gardener. She also solves mysteries. Her farm is threatened by people fearing ex-cons & by a man who claims he is the true heir to her inheritance.

This is a wonderful. Set of mystery novels.
I have read the first three books and each one is so well written. They all keep you involved and

I enjoyed this book set. It had a good story line and kept my attention. I would read it again.
