Parallax

Rate this book
Six years later, Trent Wayland still isn’t over his spring fling. Probably because he was convinced when he married Captain Leila O’Neil, their fling would go on a lifetime. Leila is his soul mate and Trent knows it. He might not admit it on a regular basis, but that doesn’t negate the raw emotion she draws out of him each and every time he thinks about her. Forget the fact his heart splits in two all over again when he’s afforded the luxury of hearing her voice. That doesn’t happen often, however. Leila only tosses a handful of words his way when she initiates the weekly video calls he’s allowed with the other love of his life, their daughter Lucy.

Once upon a time, Leila O’Neil wanted to be a Marine when she grew up. She worked hard, she landed a seat at the Academy, and she was the head of her class. Then her dream was destroyed and she traded it in for a new one at the nearest Coterie portal. She wears so many faces and so many hats, at some point she lost track of her soul. That didn’t really bother her until Trent Wayland came along and almost peeled her dressing room curtain back nearly exposing her innermost person. The real person, the real Leila, who once upon a time wanted to be a Marine when she grew up.

Leila misses the real person, and realizes it at the worst possible moment. With her daughter’s life on the line and Trent on the scene of the crime, Leila figures out she’s been using her hurt and anger to fuel all the wrong goals. In a daring move, she puts it all on the line, hoping it’s enough to gain her freedom from her handlers and her husband’s forgiveness.

This is the first book I've read by Dixie Jackson and it was amazing!

Page turning and intense action from beginning to end.

Undercover and blackops agents along with kidnapping and a little Mission Impossible action made this book a great start to the S3 series.

Trent and his love for Leila is intense and he is all alpha and trying to get back his wife.

5 stars!

Parallax is filled with exciting action packed scenes. There are so many thrilling page turning events with strong characters. Leila struggled her whole life to meet the high expectations of the people in her world. She is Queen Alpha and I loved it! Trent is an alpha in awe of her abilities and sits back and takes in her awesomeness. Dixie, I'm so glad you decided to get back into the writing world!

This book was an advanced copy I had the opportunity to read. I have never read anything by this author. I am very picky about what authors I read so I was kinda unsure what to expect. Let me just say....I am so so happy I took a chance with Dixie Jackson! She just made my top ten all time authors! This is a page-turning, action-filled, few funny scenes and steamy scenes romance book. I am not even sure I want to say romance because it's filled with action so much. I have to tell you, you will want a job at S3 with all the hot men that work there. Buckle your seat belts and be prepared for turbulence!!

I have to say, this is my favorite by Dixie so far. Just when you think you figured it out, she will put in a twist or turn. Get ready for this fast paced, in your face, ride of your life. I could not stop reading, nothing touched my bubble, as I traveled with them on their journey, let them tell me their story. Come meet Leila and Trent. And see this amazing world she gave us

Holy spy tingling suspense, Dixie Jackson this is amazing, Leila and Trent are great together, the chemistry and love that's hard for her to show, it's the secret gadgets and knowledge of the unknown, the deep dark underworld of spies and intrigue, the never knowing, now back on home turf, Lucy is going to be a big sister and Leila and Trent will have their hands full, I'm excited for more in this series, I have voluntarily read and review this ARC, thank you Dixie

Loved this fast paced, edge of your seat read! Do you really ever know someone fully and completely? Trent is about to find out when his estranged wife who happens to be a Marine, calls him with the sad news their daughter has been kidnapped. Trent and his team S3 will make any fans of sexy , hot , semi romance genre swoon. I also like that Leila is pretty cool brave renegade herself who has no problem putting the men in her life in their place. This is going to be a awesome series , this is the first time I have read this author , already a huge fan!

Wow! Where do I begin-I’m usually a mushy gushy romance only reader. This did have romance, but the action and suspense was off the charts! Dixie Jackson you did an awesome job! The push and pull between Trent and Leila was something else. I knew from the beginning Trent would do anything to keep his marriage and live for Leila alive. Not only did they have to try to find their daughter Lucy, but Leila and Trent had to stay alive. Everywhere they went there was someone not far away. Leila is one tough woman-especially the stairwell incident. You got read it to know what I mean. I didn’t want to put my kindle down because I wanted to see what would happen next. I’m ready for the next book like yesterday!

Parallax was certainly action packed, and I couldn't put it down once I started to read it. This is the first book in the series, and it is filled with Alpha males and if each has a story as hot as this one they will all be amazing. Trent and Laila's chemistry is off the charts, even seperated and all the lies between the two of them love prevails. Everyone needs to read this book!! This was the first book I have read by Dixie Jackson and I can say it grabbed in the first chapter. This book was an advanced copy I had the opportunity to read. The story line was great and the characters were to to like. I can say I'm not good at doing reviews mine are always short and sweet. I can say that I can't wait for the next book. It is well worth the read.

4*
Trent & Leila are seperated and have a daughter Lucy.
However, Trent was never fully aware of the job Leila held until she needs his help. The two need to come together to help Lucy without laying the blame.
Great start to the series and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

Parallel is filled with on the edge of your seat action. This book will keep you clued to the pages. Lelia and Trent both have alpha personality that keep them from making good decisions about their relationships. This is another wonderful book by Dixie Jackson.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of romantic suspense lately, so I was thrilled to try a new to me author with a first in a series. I liked it well enough, though it wasn’t as satisfying as I expected.

It starts right in the middle of the action, so the beginning is really fast paced. While the plot develops, it slows more and more until the end, which felt a bit rushed. The plot itself is complicated with a few twists, and so not everything is refined. Plot holes, coincidences, deus ex machina, you name it–the story must be resolved! No matter how.

With the need to introduce the future characters of the series, a few subplots were touched upon but not fully resolved. Some of those characters were depicted in such a way that I thought for a while that I wasn’t reading the first book of the series and that I had missed things. Sometimes with too many details, sometimes not enough.

What I enjoyed the most is the relationship between Leila and Trent. There’s a lot of anger and love, and it isn’t clear for a long time which one will win. There’s also a lot of passion–oh my, was it hot.

A nice introduction for a new romantic suspense series, though not perfect. Still curious about the next installments!

Quickie

- Series: S3 #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #romantic suspense #military romance #established relationship #estranged spouses #spies #secrets
- Triggers: child kidnapping (but no violence on her), a few deaths but nothing gruesome, mention of emotional abuse
- Main couple: Leila O’Neil & Trent Weyland
- Hotness: 4/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + thrilling plot with a decent amount of action
- – with that kind of complicated plot, you should expect some deus ex machina to resolve everything…

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Parallax is the first book in the S3 series. The characters and situations are fast moving and interesting. The story has some twists and turns that might surprise you. This is a very fast easy read.

The only negative I have with the book was The Prologue. I felt it was a bit gratuitous and unneeded. Had I not been determined to get past that, I probably would not have read the book. That being said, I’m glad I continued past the prologue.

If you’re looking for a book that has it all - suspense, romance, intrigue, plot twists, edge-of-your-seat page turning, look no further! The first book in a new series, Dixie has knocked it out of the park, creating a world you want to delve deeper into at the end of the book! The push-and-pull-and-push-some-more between the H/h keeps you wanting to hurry to the next page to see what happens next! You’re going to want to set some time aside for this one - once you start reading, you won’t want to stop!

Danger, secrets, love and lies!

Trust is stretched. Love is tested and there is danger around every corner. Trent and Leila are married, have been married but did he ever really know his wife? They must band together to save their daughter. And they have to have all the cards on the table. With assistance from some old friends and his cohorts they weave their way through threats and mayhem to get the job done.

I loved the action and intrigue as well as the romance. Leila is a badass and Trent is a to die for hunky hero. Great story!

Wow this was my first book by Dixie Jackson and what an introduction. Trent and Laila had explosive chemistry all the while being in the middle of the most important mission of their lives. Parallax has suspense from almost the very beginning. So many surprises along the way. Lucy was an amazing little girl and tough as can be. Loved all the characters we met in book 1 of the S3 series and I can't wait to get "Uncle" Cord's story.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy and am doing this review voluntarily.

A very interesting book. A probable look at the secret and/or cover op agencies who they sort of work together yet against each other. It's filled with complex weaving of friends, allies, and enemies. The ending felt a bit rushed, and lacked an expected reunion. Over all, it is a promising beginning to the series.

Parallax is an explosive action-packed thriller that entertained me right from the gate. Filled with twists and turns, and just enough romance to keep things interesting, this who-dun-it will have you questioning everything you think you know over and over. Join Trent, Leila, and their closest comrades on a wild roller coaster as they try desperately to reclaim their daughter and their lives in this first installment of the S3 series.

*I received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review, but enjoyed it so much I bought the prequel and fully intend to continue the adventures.
