Emma and her eight-year-old daughter Grace lived a happy and fulfilled life at Lyrebird Lake, with Emma’s position as one of the midwives at the local hospital one she loved. Emma only had one thing that worried her, and she tried to keep thoughts of that in the back of her mind. The day of Ned’s funeral was a sad one, but one in which they celebrated his life. His wife of six years, Louisa, was shattered, but had plenty of friends surrounding her.

Gianni had arrived from Italy to support Angus, Ned’s son, as Angus and Ned had only recently found each other, and Gianni knew he needed a friend. But it was when Gianni spotted Emma that something changed inside him. Gianni’s past had been a brutal one; he knew Angus from one such event. Now he was in Lyrebird Lake, he wondered if he could turn his life around…

Emma by Aussie author Fiona McArthur is the 4th and final in the Lyrebird Lake series, and I enjoyed it very much. I love Grace, the serious little girl who loves her mother dearly. The showing of the lyrebird once again was special and meeting up with the characters from the previous books was good. This has been a delightful series, and I’m now looking forward to Ms McArthur’s next offering – "The Doctor’s Gift" – coming May 2021. Highly recommended.

With thanks to the author for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Going back to Lyrebird Lake is like visiting family for a hug and this time we get Emma’s story, she has come a long way since she was a teenage mum. Emma is now a fabulous mother to Grace and also a wonderful midwife at the maternity hospital there, but has an ongoing worry with a health risk that runs in the family, when Gianni comes to Lyrebird Lake to fill in at the hospital and sparks fly between them.

When Emma meets the gorgeous Italian doctor Gianni her heart flutters like never before she needs to get to know him there is a sadness she needs to understand and that means talking to the quiet gorgeous man. The pull towards him is real, but finding love is not what Emma is looking for she has her daughter and the worry of whether or not she is carrying the gene for Huntington’s disease. Seeing as how Gianni is only here for a short time maybe a weekend together will be enough.

Gianni carries a sadness with him and works hard helping out in disasters around the world and when his friend Angus asks him to help in Lyrebird lake for a short time he is more than happy to help and then he meets the beautiful Emma and she is breaking down the wall he has built around himself with her caring nature but Gianni wants more and a weekend together ignites a passion he has not felt before.

The night together was filled with passion and love but it also leaves Emma pregnant and now her worry about Huntington’s Disease becomes even more of a worry and Gianni is determined to be there for her and Grace and their baby. This is a beautiful story filled with feeling and emotion, wonderfully written, Fiona McArthur knows how to dig deep and pull readers in to make them feel like family to the characters that she has bought to life. I shed a few tears at the start that was beautifully done, I loved this story and I highly recommend this one and the series.

My thanks to the Author for a copy to read and review.

Emma is book four in Fiona McArthur's Lyrebird Lake series. Midwife Emma is happy living in Lyre Lake with her daughter and family. However, things start to change when Dr. Gianni Bonmarito comes to work at the hospital. For Emma, her daughter and looking after her mother were the only things she needed. However, she did not expect Dr. Gianni Bonmarito to come into her life. Dr Gianni Bonmarito was also affected by Emma. Will both realise they both need each other or not? The readers of Emma will continue to follow Emma and Dr Gianni Bonmarito to discover what happens.

Emma is a lovely, sweet romance that is fantastic to read when you have a bad day and need to unwind. I engaged with the story and the characters from the first page and continued to the last page. I love Fiona McArthur's portrayal of her characters and how they intertwine throughout this book. Emma is well-written and researched. I like Fiona McArthur's description of Emma's settings, which completes the book's plot.

Emma's readers will learn about the issues of genetic diseases in the family and the role of midwives in hospitals and medical centres.

I recommend this book.

I've loved this series, but I think this might just be my favourite of the four Lyrebird Lake books, Montana, Misty, Mia, and now Emma.

I remember meeting Emma in book #1 Montana when she was a teenager and pregnant, and now she's a young woman, a single mother with an 8-year-old daughter, Grace, she's now a midwife who has avoided the complications of relationships, focused on her daughter's future and looking after her mother who was diagnosed with Huntington's disease in book #1.

The shadow of Huntington's disease hanging over her has played a big part in her life and she has put off having the test to see if she is a carrier. I'm not sure what I would do in her case, but I think I'd rather know, than worry and presume I did have it.

When Gianni, a doctor, comes to town to see his friend Angus, who we met in book #3 Mia, Emma's world is turned upside down when they have an instant connection.

I really liked these two together, I enjoyed Emma's struggle to stay away from Gianni, while he was determined to make her see they could be something together. Meeting Gianni also brings the issue of the Huntingtons disease to the fore and Emma must decide whether she wants to know or not and what it will mean either way.

Gianni was a gorgeous guy, who had a sad past, and like Emma, he had kept others at arm's length since his wife passed tragically. But meeting Emma changes everything for him too and it was interesting how differently they both felt about the connection between them and what it could mean for the future.

Once again Fiona McArthur has brought Lyrebird Lake to life and created two characters who deserve to find their one true love.

Whilst this can be read as a standalone, I encourage you to read from book one as they are all lovely romances and the characters reappear throughout.

This story pulled on some emotional heartstrings as a neighbour passed away last year from this terrible disease and it was difficult watching him deteriorate. Losing Ned was also a sad moment but the x way his wake was held was perfect and uplifting. Emma and Gianni's story is incredibly sweet inspite of her very real fears. A lovely book.
