Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

Wynonna travels into the depths of the Wild realm seeking allies to prevent a war between the realms. She is guided by the Wildling, Raphael. Together, they face his family's wrath, a clan of Wights, flesh-eating imps, and treachery among friends.

Winnie also learns more about Rafe, who has been helping the Fairy Bureau of Immigration in Steelshore since he arrived. With her conflicted feelings for Seamus the vampirate, the unresolved break-up with Kyrie, and new curiosities for Rafe, she wants to forget all the men in her life and just be the Phoenix. But that is when another mysterious figure enters her life. This dark phoenix tells her that she isn't alone and that only he can offer her peace.

The young phoenix with her mix of fire, Winter, and Shadow magic has to make some of the toughest decisions of her life. Wynnona can taste the Wild, but will she ever be truly free?

Triple Threat is the third book in the Stories of Frost and Fire series. You can find the suggested reading order for this series and the Dog River Wolfpack inside the book.

Special Bonus: Just Jack, a Trailerverse novella, which has never been released, is included with Triple Threat. This is the origin story of Jack, the Knave of Hearts, who Winnie met in Wonderland (Never to Wonder). Enjoy both stories in Kimbra Swain's Urban Fantasy Trailerverse!

This one is so good you will have to read it straight through! There is a lot of action and revelations. The descriptions of The Wild were so amazingly vivid. We learn more about Rafe in this story and I have to say I have seriously changed my opinion on him. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat my heart racing with tension. Winnie is growing more and more. I love her interactions with her family. The bonus story Just Jack is so good and had me face palming at my obliviousness. All the things are starting to weave together and I am completely absorbed in this world. I can't wait for the next one!

Freshly reutrned from the Never-Wonder, Winnie is back at it. On her first bust since going on her realm walkabout, a mysterious interloper shakes the foundations of her limited knowledge of the Phoenix. Then, as a newly installed emissary of Winter, she and Rafe infiltrate the Wild to complete his mission for his people and recruit allies for the almost inevitable war to come against the newly revealed Wildling Council calling the shots. Facing betrayal where she least expects, honor from unlikely sources, and new dangers from this strange land, she wrestles a host of problems while trying to come to terms with her unique combination of powers.
Also included is the story "Just Jack," an enthralling short prequel about the sole human we met in Wonderland.
Both tales are well worth the price of admission.

Purely amazing

I know I say “this is the best book yet” after every release but that is because there is no way I think she could top the previous book- but she always does.

Triple Threat is a masterpiece. Not only is Winnie coming more into her own, but stepping into the Wild was an amazing submersion into a fantasy realm.
The new races we met along the way has me shouting “THAT IS SO FLIPPING COOL!”
Or “I CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE OF THEM.”
I felt like Samwise getting excited over elves.
But there is way more to the story than that.
The connections, the emotions, the relationships and the growth is all real and tangible.
I teared up and my heart still hurts for what happened and what’s to come, and I know Winnie doesn’t know many thing about the future and her dreams yet but I know without a doubt her Wildfire is the perfect symbol for hope across the realms. But that’s not to say there weren’t amazing and happy and silly moments- this is the trailerverse and this is Winnie and her family. There will always be that humor.
She’s stepping into a much bigger role, emerging from the world viewing her as a child and actually seeing her for what she is - The Phoenix. And she’s taking that by the horns.
I am ready for the next set of books and to see what comes of it. Excited to read about the new characters introduced as the team settles and they get ready for war.

-JUST JACK-
I don’t think I’ve ever loved a short story more than I have loved this one. Out of all the shorts, I watched just jack like a movie in my head. The characters and situations were so real to me I even felt like their voices were solid in my mind.
I had been one of the loudest to want a story behind the Knave of Hearts and boy did she deliver!
To see the relationship, bonding- the simple like jack lead and tried to connect it to his Queen.. it was amazing. I loved it all.

A journey of adventure

Kudos to Ms. Swain on this chapter of the Winnie series, it was an enjoyable read and Winnie displayed much growth. I liked that we got to travel through the wilds and learn more about the other realms, and A lot happened in this book. I don't want to give any spoilers though so that is all I will say.
The read itself was pretty smooth, I actually finished over a week ago but didn't have time to write my review, I breezed through this in between work in like 2 days. I only counted 2 grammatical errors - whoever proofread, thank you!! It was refreshing to not have to stop and figure out what was trying to be said.
Major points for the character summaries at the end of the book, I think i have been asking for this since the trailerverse saga - lol!!
Not the best of endings, but since the story is continuing on, it was expected to have a cliffhanger so I am not that upset about it.
Jack's story was great, he's a very lovable character and I am dying to know what it was like when he finally gets to see the queen of hearts all the time in wonderland - more Jack please!
So the reason for a 4, is because for me a 5 means the story was remarkable, gave me all the feels and I am still thinking about it. The story was great but, more like a 4.25 for me personally. I will say that I am actually looking forward to the next Winnie story because she is getting to be a little more bearable to read. I am more anxious to read about the other characters though and that's my 2 cents!

I expected more

Don't get me wrong, I love the trailerverse, and I really like Winnie and her adventures, but I feel like her books have become a game of who will she choose, with each book presenting a new possible lover. For a woman that doesn't need a guy by her side, she spends a lot of time thinking about them.

Another thing that bothers me about the Phoenix, is that they keep pushing just how powerful she is, and how awesome she is, but she is constantly facing difficult situations and gets into trouble she needs to be rescued from. For a woman that is supposed to be very powerful, she is not showing it. I feel like they insist on her powers, because otherwise we would forget she is that, for in every book she has needed someone to come rescue her. It's a case of show, don't tell, because the book is showing one thing and telling another completely different.

Do I like Winnie? I do. Did I like the book? Could have been better. Do I want to read more about her? Hell yeah. But I just wish they would stop telling us how awesome the Phoenix is and actually show it, and stop telling us how strong and independent she is and just stop with all the romance already, or just embrace that part and just give her a harem, she has the numbers for that.

What I really, really liked, was the story about Jack at the end. It was a really interesting background story that gives us a better understanding of a few characters.

Such a book and novella! The first focuses on Winnie's story and it's a doozy! Please read the first two books in the series.

Winnie and company are off and running (seriously, does the young woman know how to walk?) and this time it's to various places including the Wild. The writing is fast-paced and wonderfully filled with descriptions, dialogue, and snark. (And some felonious felines)

Just Jack is a bonus story focusing on Jack, a character first seen in book 2 of Stories of Frost and Fire. It too is not to be missed.

Author Swain continues to impress with her storytelling ability and lyrical writing.

Author Swain continues to impress with her storytelling ability and lyrical writing. The dialogue moves along well, and in a lovely personal style that tells me the author can 'hear' each character's voice and let us, the readers, hear them as well. The plot is creative and enjoyable. I want more in the series but shaking an author til a new book arrives isn't how my mama brought me up.

Oh my Phoenix!

Winnie is back from the Never-Wonder and she's ready to fight the fairy traffickers. But wait things never quite go the way you expect. What a fantastic story! There are many twists, turns and "wait what?!" moments. You should read Never to Wonder before Triple Threat because there is a lot of info that will definitely make more sense. Winnie is so strong, fierce and vulnerable. Rafe is an interesting character with more depth than you perceive at first. Many new characters brought into the mix that make the story flow like the most beautiful river you've ever seen in your life. Bramble and Briar are such great and meaningful characters throughout the entire trailerverse series'. Kimbra has written another fantastic story! But wait there's more, we then get the sweet, savory and enjoyable short story of Just Jack. You get a glimpse of some characters in past and the intriguing information that these characters have been moved around like chess pieces for longer than anyone realized. Already anxiously awaiting the next book.

Another winner from the Trailerverse. Kimbra Swain’s story of the first woman Phoenix as she grows and blooms in her role as Emmissary is delightfully funny and deeply moving. Winnona Riggs takes another journey, this time to form the alliances she can with clans in the Wild of the Otherworld. She is guided by Rafe, one of her team mates and a son of the Wild through a world so unlike the human realm, she must rely on her ever growing and morphing magic to survive. She learns evermore about her capacity to love in the process. Read it and smile before you sigh — as that world readies for challenges that are coming. Underneath it all is the understanding of the strength of unity under caring, compassionate and strong leadership that comes from including all people, faeries, elves, dwarves, and even a couple of trolls named Shayne and John.

I love Winnie. She is, hands down, my favorite character. When Kimbra announces a new book in the Frost and Fire series, I squeal like a girl at her first boy band concert. I do. Life got in the way of devouring the book in one sitting, but every time I was able to sit down and read, I was transported into Winnie's world. The author weaves a story so masterfully, that she draws the reader in without fail. It's more than a book, it's a movie in written form. It's like seeing through the eyes of an observing outsider, hearing, seeing, feeling what the characters hear see and feel. I say it a lot, but wow, this one was the best one yet. I can't wait to prove myself wrong with the next story!

Never disappointed!!

I have read the entirety of the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen and each of its spin offs. Kimbra has the ability to entangle your emotions up in the characters she creates. They feel real and in turn so do their struggles and accomplishments. Triple Treat however has made me truly fall in love with Winnie. She confonts her fears and does her best to understand herself and what is best for her and her people. If you have never read any of Kimbra's books, give them a shot. You will not be disappointed. Contains love, tragedy, adventure, romance as well as humor, oh boy the humor! Fantastic read!

This is the 3rd book in the series so you will want to read the first 2 to understand what is happening throughout the story.
Winnie is growing up. She is figuring out her own path away from family while still being there when they need her the most. She has many paths she can choose and I cannot wait to see where she goes. Fairies, elves, dwarves, shifters, vampires and more. You laugh, you cry and you get angry all in one book. Well written to where you can feel all the emotions that the characters feel. They truly speak to you
Kimbra has done it again. I have loved everything she has written and can't wait to read all the other stories she comes up with

Triple awesome!

Love, love the Phoenix! We get to see a softer and more introspective Winnie here. She is beginning to see how she needs to take charge of her ever-growing changing destiny. The men in her life have always tried to control her and she has resisted. Now she is changing and needs to know who to trust, in life, and with her heart. The family interactions are great here. Bonus story at the end is very sweet. Just read series and author. Hats off to Kimbra once again.

I laughed, I cried, I was angry, I was in love and I wanted to commit character murder. This was a wonderful, action packed book that touched on all my emotions. Our little Winnie is growing up to be one heck of a woman.
The novella, Just Jack, was also amazing and really tied a nice little bow around the gift of answered questions. This was a super amazing duo. What are you waiting for? Start reading today!

Winnie's journey continues. It is a soul searching journey as well as trying to help stop a war and fairy trafficking. The author takes us to other realms and weaves a story that pulles you in. We get to also have updates on Shady Grove and our favorite or not so favorite characters. A bonus is Just Jack. More insight into a character that was introduced in the previous book. This part really got me in the feels. This series and spin offs just keep getting better!!

Another great entry!

This is an amazing story of growth for Winnie. As she begins to understand her combination of power and the significance of them. As well as her personal growth and dealing with complex relationships on top of the struggles she faces on a regular basis with the fae. I would recommend this book to everyone!!!

Another stellar book!

Our favorite phoenix continues to mature, fight, and crack jokes. This book is full of turning points for Winnie personally and on a larger scale, for everyone else too. There are new places and characters that are dangerous, beautiful, and intriguing. Thoroughly enjoyed this installment and can't wait to see what happens next!

Three is that a crowd.

Winnie continues to mature and sort out her heart and feelings. Kyrie returns but his memory of her is gone. Winnie travels to the Wilds at her mother’s request with Rafe to discover if there are any other that won’t to talk instead of fight. Winnie starts to learn and understand her place in her family. Oh and she has new sisters too.

Beautiful

What a beautiful story. Winnie has grown so much and throughout this book she starts to discover just how strong she is. Her relationship with Rafe is exactly what she needed, his support helps her as she struggles with the load she carries. With a traitor in the mix she will need all the support she can get.

What's not to love?

Another amazing installment in the SOFAF series. It's been so wonderful to be apart of Winnie's journey as she finds herself and her heart and hope again. The twist in the Just Jack story is so heartwarming that it puts a whole new spin on a villain. Will continue to eagerly look forward to additional installments in this fun and emotional series!

What an excellent addition to Winnie’s story. Rafe really gets a chance to shine and delivers some swoon worthy lines. Winnie is still hurting, but she is healing. Baby steps Wildfire, that’s all anyone can ask for.

Winnie and Rafe are fantastic in this book. I laughed and cried, multiple times. I see a foreshadowing what Winnie will some day be.
