War of the serial killers

When Spalding felt that Tyler Ford became a threat to him, he informed Sarah and thus the FBI of his secret identity as the Birdwatcher Killer. Sarah took this very bad and tried to commit suicide. She’s put on non-active and has time on her hands and starts reviewing her private files. She’s determined to bring both of them in. Detective Freeman, who feels bad about telling the feds about her attempt, offers her his help with those investigations.

This is the last book in the Birdwatcher series and is best read in order. This is a short book, compared to the previous ones and it didn’t take me more than an evening. It was even more suspenseful than the others as all the strings come together here and we’ll find out why Spalding has such an obsession with Sarah. It is not what we could have thought and maybe he doesn’t even want her dead. Actually, the reason that he has for Sara’s involvement, is very similar to the one I encountered in another book that I read last week (the good neighbour). So it’s not so far fetched as you might think

The constant switching from POV between the different protagonists made it fast-paced and kept the attention at all times as you would want to know what was happening with the others. The short and snappy chapters helped there as well.

Don’t even hesitate in thinking that both men are nasty and evil serial killers who do not have the least respect for life. A lot of people end up dead here as well, as we’ve seen in the earlier books.

I wondered if it was a wise decision of Sarah to take on Freeman as her new partner, seeing the past course of these partners and friends. Half of them turn out to be killers, the other half gets killed.

I still don’t get it why serial killers would want to play games with law enforcement or desire that the very best are sent against them. If I was one, I’d do it the Tyler way; quietly kill my target and hope no-one puts all the different cases together. That makes sense, but of course, this is a good plotline.

The series is scary as a whole. You never know who of the perfectly normal people will turn out to be a monster! The author has played this out perfectly. First, we rooted for and loved Tyler and then, halfway through the series he’s suddenly a murderer!

This story is about a war between two serial killers who both try to get rid of the other. If they can’t kill him himself, they try to rat him out to the feds. I couldn’t help it but I still had a thing for Tyler and hoped he could come out on top.

Of course, there was no way this tale could have a happy ending. If you’re satisfied or not, depends on your own pov. I thought it all finally made sense and a sad and unhappy ending befits the series.

I received a free ARC from the author and this is my honest and unbiased review of it.

A FALL OF WOODCOCKS concludes THE BIRDWATCHER Series, about a female FBI Special Agent and the specific two serial killers, very dissimilar yet akin to each other, who are the evil polarities of both her law enforcement career and of her life. Even though this is the stated conclusion, the ending definitely left me wondering about a future appearance (perhaps even a series) focusing on former Special Agent Sarah Brightwater consequent to her clarified character evolution.

A triumphant completion of a five part series that never gave in or let up. The characters were well formed and fit perfectly into every situation. Powerfully written and deeply engrossing - not one
superfluous word or redundant scene. A Ten Star Book and Very Highly Recommended.

It was a great series, ending was expected almost. I enjoyed the entire series, but the last one was full of spelling and grammatical errors. Which made it a little difficult to understand at times, had to reread a few things.

Great story, but the misspellings and grammar errors made it painful to read. Please employ a professional editor/proofreader.

Well this was the ending to a great series of books and I was not disappointed as with all European books it was well written and did the series proud. I now wonder what he can come up with next can’t wait.
I read this book as an ARC read and I am leaving this review freely.

Damn. Spalding had so many irons in the fire I am surprised he didn’t spontaneously combust. I bet there were contingency plans for the contingency plans. I am glad that Sarah was able to protect those that deserved being protected as well as herself. This was an absolutely enthralling and phenomenal series. I loved each book in it. I will be rereading this one for sure.

I’m not sure I have ever given 1 star to a book. This book is chock full of misspellings, mid-used words, punctuation errors, etc! A minimum of 50 errors in just 160 pages! Was this book generated by AI? Any basic text editor would find the majority of these errors! It made for a very distracting read.

While I enjoyed the story, I detest the amount of grammatical and spelling errors in this book. It detracted from the story quite severely. Please edit and re-publish!

Pretty well unreadable thanks to innumerable typos, poor punctuation and just plain errors.
So distracting. Storyline strained but tbh, lost interest anyway.
