For months, I’ve been imprisoned by an organization determined to dissect me and figure out how my powers work. There’s no escape. Believe me, I tried, and it only made life worse.

But when my captors perform their latest experiment, it supercharged not just my abilities, but those of the other chimeras locked in here with me.

When an attack on the facility gives us a chance to run, we escape only to discover that making it home in one piece won’t be easy. We have no money, barely any clothes, and our captors are close on our heels.

We thought escaping would be the hard part, but in reality, our troubles were just beginning.

When I first read the book description, it brought the old TV series Dark Angel to mind (wow, 20 years ago now for those who haven't heard of it), so I thought I'd give it a try. I loved this story! We don't get intense visuals of the torture of the chimeras, but there's no doubt in the reader's mind of what was happening to them, and you're right there with them every step of the way after their escape. The author did a great job of avoiding gratuitous violence. We are left with a cliffhanger ending, though, and I'm very much looking forward to the next story in the series.

Grabbed out of her school parking lot, Embry has been thrown in a cage and experimented on for months. She is a chimera wanted for her abilities. She's not alone; there are others. She manages to connect with a few. Donovan, Galen, Frosty, Aiden, and Neo are also being held for their abilities. When the facility literally comes down around them Embry escapes with the boys. They share a bond and decide to stay together but they are pursued. Their lives won't be their own until they can destroy those after them once and for all.

I love returning to the world of the chimera. It has endless possibilities. The experimentation is dark and the repercussions have yet to all be discovered. But in my opinion, the characters make the book. Embry is likable, sweet, caring. She feels like she is the weak link but never whines or feels sorry for herself. Instead, she does everything to hold her own. Frosty and Aiden are goofy together and allow the others to have their own humorous moments. I love Van's protectiveness and everything Neo. The story was quick-paced and action-packed. The next book is set up perfectly. Action needs to be taken quickly or Embry and the boys could find a loved one and valuable ally become a danger. I look forward to watching this group grow closer and take more control of their lives.

Embry is a teenager who is snatched up in the parking lot at school by an organization intending to experiment on her in the “holding tank”, their experimentation room, because of her chimera “gifts”. She is not the only one captured. She had already been held there for months at the mercy of the doctors experimenting with them, and there seems no hope of escaping until their captors foolishly inject them with blood combined from each of them exhibiting different powers, and are not prepared when all of them become super-charged with the combination of power.

A timely attack on the facility lets them escape, and their work begins as they try to get to safety, stop the evil going on in the Institute that held them, and “reclaim” their lives. Can they ever escape the grasp of this Institute? Can they protect others like them? Or will they be recaptured to be toyed with again?

This was a well-written book that let the reader clearly experience the things that the characters were going through, not that it was pleasant, but it was very realistic! The book will hold the reader’s attention right from the start. The story line is exciting, moves quickly, and keeps the reader in suspense. Grab your copy and go on the adventure as 16-year-old Embry and the other escapees try to figure out what needs to be done to stop this nightmare.

An Originally Inventive Tale!
*Spoiler Alert*
“Reclamation” is the story of Embry, a 16-year old girl that is abducted from school and taken to “the institute”, an organization that experiments on “The gifted”. Inside she meets other gifted, Donovan, Galen, Frosty, Aiden, and Neo. Embry learns that she and the guys are given a blood infusion that is a combination of all of their blood as an experiment. This backfires on the doctors, causing all of the gifted’s powers to increase 100x. “Reclamation” is the journey that Embry and her guys are on to destroy the institute and reclaim their lives. This tale has action, humor, drama, adventure and is a journey of self-discovery for all of the gifted. I highly recommend this tale as it is the beginning of an exciting series.

A series that fits right in with the current popular human trial/ escapism reverse harems, Reclamation was an enjoyable read that very quickly jumps into the thick of it.

In saying that, it did take me a few chapters to get the characters sorted in my mind. I also kept confusing bits from similar books while getting through it, but that doesn't take away from the strong and consistent writing. I believe this series will grow and expand to give us another stellar chimera tale.

I was excited to see another series set up in the chimera world. I love the who concept of this world. There are so many unanswered questions I cant wait for the plot to unfold. The characters are well written and are developing as the story progresses which is nice. I look forward to the next book.

finally, a book where the female doesn't bitch, moan and whine nonstop! And relationships that are close friendships, a best friend kind of soulmate not instant love or getting into one another's pants! They take care of each other and joke but it seems more protective of one another because they have a bond that cannot be broken, one no one but the 6 of them can understand. adventure and supernatural awesomeness. I cannot wait to read the next one!
